Critter - you still have to wait a bit then, sorry, my IVF knowledge is limited. But I am thinking about looking into it. Still keeping everything crossed for you.
Cleo - when is your CD3 test?
As for me and the dhea, I have 1 small spot, but that’s not unusual for me soon after ovulation, and today I haven’t been feeling great, nauseous and headachey, but hopefully that’s nothing to do with the dhea.

Cleozeta · 11/10/2018 16:46

CD3 for me will be in about 2 weeks as had +opk today.
Do you know if there is a good time to start dhea? CD1? Or does it not matter? Do you take it all through the cycle?

Jenbot78 · 11/10/2018 17:28

AF for me too! Feeling rotten; tired and bloated. Also fed up. I was thinking today how nice it will be one day when all this is over and I get AF without even thinking about it! Is very hard to imagine at the moment...

MATTSMAMMA · 11/10/2018 18:41

JENTBOT 78 - sorry about af Sad. I’ve had the same thoughts as you. The immense sadness and disappointment when af shows is just awful. I can hardly remember the days when it was just a monthly occurrence without such angst Sad

PetraRabbit · 11/10/2018 18:48

Sorry about all the unwelcome arrivals of AF.

Can anyone post a link to the recent pregnant at 49 thread. I cannot find it at all!!!??

Chatbash72 · 11/10/2018 20:25

Did read an interesting article in the times re sperm motility and caffeine.. 2 cups of coffee a day supposed to be good for swimmers 👍

Orchid222 · 11/10/2018 20:40

Petra Google mumsnet positive pregnancy test at 49! I believe that's the one.

That’s amazing weight loss, @crittertamer; and you’ve done it in a safe and healthy way.

MATTSMAMMA · 11/10/2018 21:46

PETRA. Sorry - but I’m rubbish and don’t know how to make a link but if you go into Mumsnet Talk and then subheading of Becoming a Parent and then go into Pregnancy it’s in there. Sorry - I know I probably come across as totally useless - only way I can explain it x

MATTSMAMMA · 11/10/2018 21:47

Title of the thread is positive pregnancy test at 49 x

Matts... Thanks for the supportive msg. I'll never learn to keep my mouth shut so I'm asking for the negative comments I suppose...but why can't people be positive?! What's wrong with that? I think with all the bad stuff in the news everyone is set on depressive mode when we need more uplifting stuff too.
Mellon... I see you've had the same from your DB! Mine let me get on with it although I did have the "ignore him" orders from both DM and M-in-L when DS was only 6 wks old and crying for milk. They didn't like the fact I was BF on demand...according to my family i should have got him off at at least 12 months.
Thinking of you and sending you good POSITIVE vibes Mellon Wink

MATTSMAMMA · 12/10/2018 09:07

So true BOOSEYS there is far too much negativity around mums in their forties when it used to happen often for my grandma’s generation. It’s so hard to stay positive though sometimes Sad. Feeling particularly down today as all tests are negative so just waiting for the inevitable AF Sad even though I keep hoping beyond hope I’ve calculated dates wrong and I’m testing too early Grin. Good luck everyone Onwards and Upwards yet again!

Letsdothis42 · 12/10/2018 14:27

Letsdothis42 · 12/10/2018 14:31

Sorry Prolactin 298 mU/L

Snowie3 · 12/10/2018 14:34

Sorry about AF everyone. Such a let down isnt it.

For those starting DHEA i started it during the month and have been on it for around 3 months now this time. My FS recommended the micronised version. Not sure why.. here's the link:

www.dhea-uk.com/home.php

But as i said if i take the 75mg per day i tend to get side effects such as greasy hair and insomnia particularly if i take one dose late in the day. So i tend to interchange between 50mg and 75mg a day.

So i ovulated CD19/20 this month which is really late for me. Im normally CD14/15 but im wondering if the thyroid medicine Im on now or the DHEA has affected this? Does anyone know if this is too late for ovulation? It therefore means that i only dtd 3 days before and on the day of +ve OPK since i was so confused by cycle and thought i wasn't ovulating. Do you think I've messed it up?

Urgh always so stressful this. Although i am sure my friend said her FS told her to dtd every 3 days when ttc. So i hope I'm covered..

My feel is that if we are biologically ready to carry a child then it can happen anytime/any age. Anyone who is judgemental on that are just affected by societal norms the past few decades due to birth control for example in my opinion. Before that people were giving birth at any age i believe. Also the advancement of medicine has helped too in terms of screening etc. What gets me too is that people rarely comment on the mans age if they are older. Which is bizarre to me since women on average live longer than men! I think it really depends on who you talk to as well and those which have an opinion on having a baby later in life, i do not want to talk to. Although it's not always easy!! Thankfully where i am it is quite normal so people are not judgemental. As i said my sister is 46 having her first and she is breezing through her pregnancy with no question! If we are fertile til the menopause then there is always a chance/way! And of not, there are also other options.

Im now on the tww and wondering whether to have that glass of wine i wanted later or go on that run..

BooseysMom · 12/10/2018 14:51

Well said Snowie! Grin..I think nature just has its own way of knowing when it's right . I mean I was taking FA every day for years then when I had 2 mcs I thought fcuk this and gave up taking it ..you can guess what happened!! .. I conceived at 40 and had a very low risk of abnormalities result and I wasn't on FA or any other vit's!! I guess I was just lucky. Now I'm back on the FA being that much older.
As for wine, well I was drinking a glass a night steadily thru the first 12 weeks which I wouldn't have done if I'd known I was preg but I had no idea! One night I had a load more than 1 glass as it was a leaving do and DS turned out perfect. So I'm sure a glass won't hurt tonight Snowie. Cheers! X

BooseysMom · 12/10/2018 14:55

Mellon..sorry meant to say your DH's DB!!

Let's...thanks Smile

Matts..sorry to hear you're having a low day. Here's a virtual hug! Good luck too x

Cleozeta · 12/10/2018 16:03

Lets - those are results of a spring chicken! I am dreading finding out my fsh as I know it will be bad, I just hope it's gone down a little bit from last time.

Loved reading the 49 year old pregnancy thread! Gives us hope. I have just finished reading Inconceivable, she seemed very similar to me, 42 with high FSH (although I am 41) she was told no hope with those stats, but took it upon herself to change things with diet, yoga and various other holistic things and it worked. I've taken some ideas from her and hope it can work for me too. Sod the miserable negative ninny's. We can do this.

Snowie - thanks for the info on dhea.
I think its totally fine to ovulate late and will not mame much difference. Sounds like you timed it fine if you dtd on peak day anyway. And have the wine! Drink till it's pink is the saying!

MATTSMAMMA · 12/10/2018 16:09

Thanks BOOSEYS Smile xx

SNOWIE - you are spot on. Totally agree also about men! Nobody bats an eyelid when a man in his fifties and far beyond beyond announces they are going to be a Dad but it’s a totally different story for a woman Angry.

AF still not arrived which keeps giving me hope but I’ve been crampy on and off for a few days now so pretty sure it’s on it’s way!

mellongoose · 12/10/2018 17:40

Thanks @BooseysMom. Really kind. I honestly hope you get to prove them all wrong!!!!

Iusedtobecarmen · 13/10/2018 08:08

Hi
Can I join.
I'm 48(oldest one surelySmile). 3 dc already
Last one I had when I was 39.
I had an early mc 6 wks about 5 yrs ago(wasn't ttc at the time so surprise).
Since then half ttc as I really want number 4
But not really trying. Only trying in sense that we don't use contraception. Know my cycle well and virtually every month we don't end up even trying at the right time due to work patterns and various other things always in the way. So I cant say ive tried for X anount of time as i havent.
I really need to get going!know chances are slim.
I take folic acid, vit d,co q10,vit c and I've just started royal jelly. Any other suggestions?
I did take Dhea for a while but when i ran out I didn't buy any More, as I had a 'funny' period. I sort of bled mid cycle. I could only put it down to that. However. I am thinking restarting.
I normally have a cycle about 28/29 days. Always been the same. Never changed. Occasionally D27 or 30.
Ovulate(according to OPK) every month.
Now this month something's gone wrong!!period due 8th. So 5 days late. I have done 3 of tests on the off chance(did have sex around ovulation) but they are neg. I feel awful. Bloated soo much
Don't know if it's related to being late or just trapped wind!! Got PMT type symtoms

I'm panicking this is the start of the menopause. Please help!!

Iusedtobecarmen · 13/10/2018 08:27

Oh can I add. I really don't think I'm pregnant and the tests are wrong. All the times I actually have been pregnant the tests have been positive on the actual day period was due.

MATTSMAMMA · 13/10/2018 08:39

Iusedtobecarmen - welcome
SmileSmile. I’m oldest I think 49 Shock

Maybe test in a couple of days if af not arrived? Fingers crossed for you!

Meanwhile for AF has made an arrival Sad. Very mixed feelings here this morning - really don’t know what to do for the best anymore Confused
