Meant to add Cleo that my AMH isn’t particularly low - 10.4 but they prescribed it anyway.

Jenbot78 · 09/10/2018 20:48

Thanks for the welcome 😀. Critter good news about the embryos, really sounds as though the changes you made have had an impact. As for me, I went to see a functional medicine doctor (££££😱 but cheaper than IVF!) to see about my Hashimotos. I am on a very long journey trying to heal myself, not only for pregnancy but general health. She has put me on quite a strict detox diet and a list of supplements. I take quite a few anyway so not so different to what I take but she has added chaste tree berry, as she thinks I am oestrogen dominant (I knew this already!) Anyone have any experience of taking this?

littlemimosa posted a link to a podcast about women over 40 having babies. I think it’s called the fertility hour. Would thoroughly recommend listening to some of the others, many seem geared towards women over 40 and there was a fascinating discussion about AMH tests and how they are not a useful reference unless you are having IVF. I’ll see if I can work out how to post a link.

DHEA is completely different than ubiquinol or CoQ10.
DHEA can affect hormone levels (DHEA is a hormone), so it is better to be continuously monitored on this by your doctor.
CoQ10 or ubiquinol (ubiquinol is the reduced, active form) is a coenzyme naturally produced by the body that helps with energy production, and acts as an antioxidant (for egg and sperm cells as well as other parts of the body). Absorption also matters: a form that is water and fat-soluble absorbs better.
Hope that helps!!

Cleozeta · 09/10/2018 23:19

Thanks ckc, I like the idea of being monitored by a Dr, but I don't think a standard gp would ever do that. It would have to be private, and costly. Unforunately with current NHS circumstances, us over 40's ttc have to go it alone

Chatbash72 · 10/10/2018 06:59

Af arrived last night, a couple of days early.. but this month last year did the sane thing.. back to the drawing board

Chatbash72 · 10/10/2018 08:03

Same ! 🤦‍♀️ does anyone else's cycle follow the moon? I ov at full moon and af on new moon mostly

Rose68 · 10/10/2018 09:00

That’s very interesting Chat, I haven’t noticed any moon affects on my cycle Smile
I have started my dhea, spent a fortune at the hairdressers yesterday and now waiting for it to all fall out Grin

Cleozeta · 10/10/2018 09:24

Chat - sorry AF came. Cd1 sucks.

Rose - let us know how you get on with the dhea! Hopefully it will not wreck your new hair do!
My dhea has arrived but I'm going to hold off using it until after my Cd3 FSH test as I don't want it to affect results. Am slightly nervous about taking it, bit I do think its the right thing for me after many hours of research

weasledee · 10/10/2018 10:23

Sorry for the AF, I agree Day 1 is the worse..... :(

karryk · 10/10/2018 10:32

@Jenbot78 I'd be really interested in listening to that!

Letsdothis42 · 10/10/2018 12:39

So happy for you @critter, fingers crossed for everything!

Hormonal Blood tests done on CD3 and now waiting for all results to come back and then filling out online form that IVF clinic require and then taking it from there .... nervous but I've started !

Letsdothis42 · 10/10/2018 12:40

PS @critter well done on losing 3 stones... how did you do it!!!

CritterTamer · 10/10/2018 12:59

@Letsdothis42 - haha thankyou. To be honest all I needed was the motivation, which for me was giving the IVF the best chance of success. I’m a qualified personal trainer so can actually lose weight easily when I put my mind to it - I’d just been in an awful stressful job that i hated for a year and was too tired and miserable to exercise and living on takeaway food. Once I stopped that and started back into training for 90 minutes every other day The weight fell off. I don’t diet or calorie count, just eat sensibly and exercise well.

Just had more good news from the embryologist - we have two Frosties from this cycle, a 4AA and a 4AB 😊

Rose68 · 10/10/2018 13:06

Great news Critter! I hope you don’t mind me asking.... but how many days until you find out? Do you have to wait for them to test at the clinic or can you do a test at home?
I am more excited about this than my own two week wait... probably because I know mine will come to nothing Grin

CritterTamer · 10/10/2018 13:13

@Rose68 my OTD is October 22nd. You take a standard pregnancy test at home and if it’s positive they bring you in for a beta HCG blood test.. I’m hate peeing on sticks so will likely wait for OTD to test.

littlemimosa · 10/10/2018 13:23

Great need on the frosties Critter:)

Jenbot so glad you liked The Fertility Hour podcast. Me too. I’ve since watched another all about how stress and the mind-body connection affected fertility. You’re right, I think they are aimed at our age group.

Sorry for those who got AF today.

Yes I’ve noticed my cycle relating to the moon. I know it’s a new moon today or yesterday and I’m on CD5 which isn’t quite right but I ovulate so early on some months it messes it up. Apparently in the days prior to electric lights all women ovulated on the full moon together!

Cleozeta · 10/10/2018 13:36

Interesting about the full moon thing, I'd never taken any notice! Will be looking at that next time out of interest.

Critter that sounds great, I have high hopes for you!

Lets - good luck with your results, let us know how you get on

Mimosa - are you back to trying this cycle? Sounds like your af is back on track which is fantastic. Did you ever get fsh test?

Chatbash72 · 10/10/2018 16:55

@littlemimosa I guess by the light of the full moon you could see which cave man you were doing the deed with.. 🤣🤣🤣

Dinah99 · 10/10/2018 17:11

Hello ladies, looking for a bit of advice, I dtd fri, Mon & Tues +opk this afternoon, feel like I should give his swimmers a day to replenish, would you dtd tonight (he's out late on biz 😫) or would you give it a day to catch swimmers and peak, it's just if O occurs 12-36 hours after + then I may miss boat? Tough one. Any advice great xx

BooseysMom · 10/10/2018 17:14

Another AF here.Sad...evil! Does anyone get palpitations with AF? Mine are awful around mid month and pre AF. Had tests done and apparently not peri-menopausal but still they come Confused

Great news about embies Critter! Grin

Thanks for those who said stuff what so-called friends say! Rose... I'll have to stop telling people like you say. The worse I had was when I confided in my sis-in-law and was told I was insane to be even thinking of another DC at 46! She then went on about all the disabilities he/she would have. So I told her loads of women have babies in their 40s which shut her up! I had DS at 41 so like that inspiring story Matts told, who knows I may have another at 49..wouldn't that be something sis! And she'd be the last to know!!

Rose68 · 10/10/2018 17:42

Dinah - I think I would just go for it as much as possible, you don’t want to miss it. x

MATTSMAMMA · 10/10/2018 18:17

CRITTER - that’s great news 😁. Keeping everything crossed for you!

Sorry everyone who AF has arrived for Sad. I’m due to test any day and will probably be joining you all in that regard in the next day or so. I normally POAs like a woman possessed but somehow I just can’t face the disappointment I know I’m more than likely to face. Do keep telling myself you just never know though. The woman who has posted on the pregnancy board who has got pregnant at 49 has inspired me Smile

BOOSEYS - your sis-in-law sounds like my sister very judgemental and she would def be very low down on the list of people I’d been telling if ever I’m lucky to get some good news 😬. It never ceases to amaze me how quick people can be to voice their opinions Shock. They can shove their opinions right up their opinionated backsides. Whose life are we living anyway?! xx

Dinah99 · 10/10/2018 20:20

Thanks @Rose68 it's always such a dilemma the timing of everything isn't it, with the whole do you dtd everyday of eod.. I seem to be off each month ... well if he comes home at a reasonable hour may have to get best moves on... x

mellongoose · 10/10/2018 20:42

Sorry for the AFs ladies.

@CritterTamer loving your updates and keeping it all crossed.

I'm 8 weeks today. Booking in appointment is next week so I'm still flying solo. We haven't told many people as it's still a precarious time. My parents are stoked. DHs mum the same. DHs DB just gave him grief about how much work it was going to be etc. Cheers!!

I did some research a few years ago about getting your cycle in line with the moon. It was really interesting and seemed to have loads of health benefits associated with stress, eating habits sexual activity etc. There was a method to follow on Hoyt's get yourself in sync. I can't remember it completely but it involved eye masks and ear plugs at night to simulate a period of new moon then exposure to more noise and light around a full moon. Eventually your cycle catches on. Not sure I tried it seriously but I live rurally anyway so ...

mellongoose · 10/10/2018 20:43

*how not Hoyt's!!
