Here's our new thread, let's hope it's a lucky one!

Well I've missed HSG this cycle anyway then as already cd9. Will try and get the courage to get it done next cycle. Orchid I remember you had that awful time with it. At least it's done and you are ready to go straight into IVF. I have everything crossed for you, keep us updated along the way!

Chat - hopefully it's not af! Good luck

KashyKash · 05/11/2018 20:45

@booseysmom good to hear you had your DS at 40, it certainly gives me hope. Sorry to hear you've had such a hard time conceiving no 2. Is your DS desperate for a sibling? Mine is the only one of his friends that doesn't have a sibling now, so he mentions it a lot :(

@cleozeta My experience was that the tests were done over a few different days and took a couple of weeks to organise and get results. Nobody ever pushed us into making a decision about whether to proceed with treatment, you can walk away at any point. Give them a call!

Af appeared today, so onwards to the next cycle. I've just realised that my husband will be away for my fertile week this month. I hate wasting a month but maybe it'll do me good to have a break from obsessing about it all.

littlemimosa · 05/11/2018 21:10

Hi everyone sorry can’t help with the ivf stuff but wanted to say don’t be put off by Orchid’s experience of HSG. Mine was fine and I was back at work straight afterwards.

Orchid222 · 05/11/2018 21:11

Thanks Cleo! Will keep you posted. A bit worried now because I had acupuncture and my acupuncturist said I should wait with ivf until March since we're travelling in Jan and Feb...but I feel like I'd be wasting time I don't have :( I really do hope long haul flights won't increase a chance of mc if I'm lucky enough for this off cycle to work...
Kashy so sorry about your situation. My ds is almost 3 and I fear he'll be asking for a sibling very soon since everyone around him already has or is about yo have one...we've been trying for 1.5 years and nothing 😭

Kashy- I’ve just had a break from ttc and it was nice in a way. (I’m now back ttc and typically I’m now not ovulatingSad!)

Rose68 · 05/11/2018 21:40

@Orchid222 it’s funny your acupuncturist said that.... I had an early miscarriage (about 5 & a half weeks) after flying to Las Vegas and back. This was years ago, in between my 2 boys. I have never heard of travel being a problem and I didn’t even research it at the time. But I have always thought....I wonder.... and now he has said that to you... I wonder even more....
How much travelling are you doing?

Rose68 · 05/11/2018 21:56

Having googled it... it seems there is unlikely to be a link... more that women are looking for something to blame.... definitely true in my case x

Orchid222 · 05/11/2018 22:10

Thanks Rose. I remember reading about it when I was pg with ds and couldn't find a link either but I never looked into really long flights. We'll be doing a lot of travelling (Or rather flying) all the way to the southern hemisphere. I just have to hope I'm lucky next month and the flying won't affect me.

Crazy day yesterday. Had my scan yesterday, and there are 5 follicles on the right and 5 on the left! That never happened before! Not only that, but I have a dominant follicle on the left that is already 20mm! So they did a trigger right there and then! And that was cd10! The rest of the follicles are around 7-10mm which is normal for cd10. And scheduled IUI for today, cd11 and I'll be ovulating on cd12. Lining is around 7.5mm which is also normal size. So they put an Estramon patch on my tummy. These are for lining growth. My head is spinning. We were planning it all for Friday/Saturday! So had to call my DH at the appointment to tell him the news and change his flight for today! Thankfully IUI is at 6pm so he'll get here in time, and fly back home next day. Asked doctor why I had so many follicles in the first place. Only ever had 2 on either side. And why 1 is already 20mm on cd10! She told me it might be down to DHEA I started taking!? But I've only been taking it for 5 days! 75mg a day. Again this is all new to me and our bodies will never cease to amaze me! I had acupuncture straight after the scan to calm and distress. Curious to see what today brings when I go for IUI. More acupuncture booked for after IUI. My DD is here with me and my doc/nurses love seeing her growing. She was my true IUI baby miracle "conceived" at my clinic. I was 40 then. Let's just hope this time works. And if not, I've got IVF lined up which we discussed yesterday too.
@Presh12345 hope all is going well in tww. Stay away from early poas 🙃

CritterTamer · 06/11/2018 06:18

Morning ladies

Exciting news @Russkispy and @Orchid222 - best of luck to you both xxx
@Presh12345 - hope your TWW is going quickly and you’re managing to keep sane!

AFM - had a lovely scan yesterday at 6 weeks 4 days. Two lovely heartbeats seen (even I could see them this time) and both measuring fine. Also the fluid from the OHSS is starting to reduce and my liver and kidneys are all clear of it now (although my ovaries are still mahoosive!) so I’ll have another scan on Friday and hopefully will be able to stop these painful blood thinner injections then 😊

Hope everyone else is doing ok and that you guys don’t mind if I stick around on the thread - I’m so excited to see how you all get on and would really miss this place!

Chatbash72 · 06/11/2018 09:12

Ooh all exciting news.. !! 😍
Nothing exciting here, just wish af would just hurry u and arrive bra and clothes feel uncomfortable

Rose68 · 06/11/2018 09:53

Lovely news Critter!
I have no idea how I’m getting, I have had some more spotting, and I can’t work out if I feel slightly nauseous or if I’m just feeling nervous.
Anyway, I’m not feeling massively confident.

Rose68 · 06/11/2018 09:53

That should have said ‘getting on’

eloisa246 · 06/11/2018 11:04

hi ladies,
I haven't posted for a while as needed to sort out my username and login details - but have been reading all your news. Huge congrats for the BFPs and heartfelt hugs to everyone who has been having a tough time.
I wanted to share a resource which I've been finding useful - it's a hypnotherapy program from a US website Circle + Bloom (the Natural Cycle Fertility Program). There are also variations for IVF cycles. There is a 15 minute guided relaxation for every day of the cycle. I was thinking of you littlemimosa as I wonder whether it would help regularise your cycles.....xx

Cleozeta · 06/11/2018 11:26

Orchid - I wouldn't have thought flying would affect things, what do your clinic say about it? I don't think I would have the patience to wait until March either.

Russkispy - that sounds fantastic! And so interesting that they thinl it is down to the dhea. I have been putting off taking mine as I'm too scared. After hearing that maybe I should go for it! Good luck with your IUI

Critter - congrats on your good scan, sounds amazing! And of course you are welcome to stay, your story gives us all hope, and I can't wait to hear your updates Smile

Chat - have you tested yet?

Rose - how far along are you now? Have you had a scan?

Welcome back eloisa

Rose68 · 06/11/2018 11:53

I am 6 weeks, but I’m just not feeling it, so i’m pretty sure it’s all over.
Boobs have stopped hurting, and clear blue digital test has gone down to 2-3, although it was only 30-40 mins since I had last done a wee.
I have got a scan booked for Friday, but I’m pretty sure I know what it will be, assuming I even make it to Friday.

CritterTamer · 06/11/2018 12:18

@Rose68 stop using pee sticks they are not reliable after around 6 weeks. Google the hook effect - you may well get false low or negative results. You can only rely on what your scan says 😊

Orchid222 · 06/11/2018 12:43

Rose I also think ive read recently that they've found some bad digital clear blue tests which were giving wrong results so like Critter said, don't use them. Try to stay positive and see what Friday brings, fingers crossed it's good news.

Orchid222 · 06/11/2018 12:45

Russ- sounds positive, good luck!
Critter- can news!
Cleo-sorry when I told the consultant I'm travelling Jan/feb he just said let's get you pregnant before then 😀 I hope he does...

OP posts:
Cleozeta · 06/11/2018 13:52

Orchid - then I would go on what your clinic say. Don't worry about it Smile

Rose - stop peeing on sticks! It will only make you more stressed and paranoid. See what the scan holds out for you. Everything crossed all is ok

Rose68 · 06/11/2018 14:04

Thank you both, I just want to go to bed at the moment. x

Chatbash72 · 06/11/2018 15:08

@Cleozeta no I'm being a masochists day not testing yet.. not holding out much hope.. loads of cm if a bit blood stained at times.. although made myself a decaf cuppa earlier took one sip and threw it away... but could be because I normally have herbal.. who knows. @Rose68 go to bed.. hot water bottle and something on iPlayer.... rest up xxxx

littlemimosa · 06/11/2018 16:47

Aw Rose try to stay calm. And don’t keep testing. Are you getting a scan or blood test soon?

Russ - that all sounds so positive. Good luck fingers crossed 🤞

Critter- fantastic news on the scan. We’d love you to stick around.

Chat - fingers crossed for you...

Hi Eloisa, thank you for thinking of me, that’s so kind. I’ll definitely check that hypnotherapy out. You always post such great resources:) How are you hun?

AFM I’m still trying to work out why my oestrogen is so low (apart from the fact that I’m probably in peri of course!). I’ve been doing lots of reading on how to boost oestrogen but have come to the conclusion that phytoestrogens (in food such as flaxseed, oats, soy etc) are only suggested to boost oestrogen in women who have already gone thru menopause. Ive read a proper study on it which says that in pre menopausal women they can actually have the opposite effect and block oestrogen affecting fertility! So now I’m going to actually try to cut out oats, chick peas, lentils, flax, soy, seeds etc which I’ve been increasing recently. Sigh. It’s all so confusing. Anyone any thoughts?

BooseysMom · 06/11/2018 17:00

@KashyKash... thank you. Well we haven't been ttc too seriously as we've never been in the right place plus being this age we obv wouldn't get ivf and couldn't afford to fund it ourselves. I went thru a phase of using opks and vitamins then gave up and now just take folic. Fortunately DS isn't bothered by a sibling..he knows who's top dog!! I think girls are generally more bothered about having a younger sibling. How old is your DS?

Cleo..Yes cycles seem loads more unpredictable now..and the build up to AF is vile..I totally dread it.

Thinking of everyone and sending hugs x

Cleozeta · 06/11/2018 17:48

Mimosa - did you try soy isoflavones in the end? I used it and I was definitely perimenopausal, and it kickstarted my cycles back to normal. Other things to try that are said to balance hormones are vitex (not to be used together with soy isoflavones) or dhea, which from what I've read also helps egg quality as well as balancing oestrogen and progesterone
