Lets...Thank you so much for being so lovely..here's a big virtual hug! Grin
I shall stay but if I never manage to have DC2 I shall just have to accept things the way they are.

Weasle...Sorry about AF coming.

Presh..Wishing you lots of luck.

Finally huge congratulations to Shiny! Just wonderful Flowers ...and thank you for saying you'd miss me if I left. I was on a downer but feeling better now thanks to all the ladies here. Smile
Currently awaiting AF due on 10th. So up and down in mood and trying not to get too hopeful as always

DabofRouge · 03/11/2018 20:06

@booseysmom I’m glad you are going to stay. I understand what’s it likes to feel very, very despondent over ttc. I’m sure plenty of others on here do too. For me, it’s a question of taking one day at a time and keeping at it x

Orchid222 · 03/11/2018 21:20

Weasle sorry about AF that sucks. Mine arrived Friday, I hoped by some miracle it wouldn't and could skip ivf but no such luck.
Russ- you still have time to decide, see what this IUI brings first. Out of curiosity why are you on clomid? I was told clomid wouldn't make much difference for me since I'm ovulating. Thankfully the ice decision was always for me since we'll be travelling in Jan and Feb and I wasn't prepared to wait until March so Dec it is for me, ice waited long enough as it is

Hi everyone, can I join the thread please. I've been losing hope recently but reading through and seeing the bfp news has made me feel much more positive. I've been ttc no2 for two and half years. I turned 40 in March and spent most of the previous year in a total panic at the prospect of my fertility falling off a cliff. We tried a cycle of ivf in December last year and that and 5 subsequent embryo transfers failed. The ivf consultant says the only reason for failure is my age (I want to punch him every time he says it). My ds is 4.5 and desperate for a sibling, it's heartbreaking.

Russkispy · 03/11/2018 23:09

@Orchid222 , yes I do ovulate regularly but I believe Clomid is used to increase egg production for fertility treatments such as IUI and IVF. I never questioned my doctor. She run various blood tests on me and scanned me regularly. I just follow her recommendations

shinyblackdog · 04/11/2018 01:09

Hi Kashy, you're in the right place. Your consultant sounds like an unhelpful idiot who's trying to cover his own back - a lot of us have found that midwives are extremely unphased by pregnant ladies in their 40s as they see a lot of them. On this thread in the last in the last few months I think we have had about a 13% success rate. Presumably if you have done IVF you've had all relevant tests and they were all fine?

Cleozeta · 04/11/2018 08:55

Welcome kashy, you sound like you have a very irritating consultant. I'd have wanted to slap him too. Aa this thread proves, it can happen. Don't give up

Chatbash72 · 04/11/2018 10:51

Welcome @KashyKash yes consultant sounds very uninformed!!

Day 27 in cycle.. feels like af is looming... am trying to look at the positives... big lifestyle change in jan.. no booze, fizzy drinks.. nail varnish.. 10,000 steps a day.. back to work
So that would have taken until May to make any difference to the ovaries.. and added ubiquinol for 2 months only 2.5 months ago, however now on Co enzyme q10 1/2 a month ago as wasn't comfortable ordering ubiquinol online.. so the added umphh to my ovaries won't show ( if any) for another cycle.. which is actually only about 6/7 months of trying with changes.. that's actually not too bad..
45.. ovulate each month, af on time( ov around full moon and af on new moon) and my bestie who is very much into that side of things says that moon is in the right sign for my sign next month and that I should be patient.. 😬
I have the baptism of my youngest nephew in 2 weeks.. would have loved to have been newly preg but stress levels of seeing the family won't be good.. either way preg or non preg... onwards and upwards.. as I could be a gibbering wreck in 2 weeks..
But will keep dtd through the month just to be on safe side..
sending baby dust out to you all in spade fulls ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Floofsquidge · 04/11/2018 11:34

@KashyKash your IVF consultant sounds like he's downright arrogant and lazy and in the wrong job.

KashyKash · 04/11/2018 12:04

Thanks everyone. We're taking a break from the ivf clinic after their helpful advice! We've decided we'd like to do more investigations before we spend/waste more money on ivf.

Shiny, congrats on your pregnancy! The only tests we've had are blood hormone, semen test and the pre ivf scans/AMH which all came back as normal. I was on the waiting list for NHS investigations last year but was advised by the ivf clinic that there was no point waiting (because of my age) and we should go straight to ivf. I cancelled the appointment on that advice and am annoyed that I did as I feel we don't have time to wait now. I got my GP to refer me to a gynaecologist privately and have an appointment on Tuesday to ask about having laparoscopy/hysterescopy. I'm convinced there may be some damage from my previous c section that is causing the problems.

Good luck to all those waiting for af/bfp. I'm due on tomorrow and have the usual spotting and symptoms so not holding out any hope!

BooseysMom · 04/11/2018 22:09

@DabofRouge..Thank you for your msg. Yes it's so easy to feel like you want to give up but i think as Cleo or Chat says (sorry can't remember who said it!), whilst AF still comes there's always a chance and I can't stop the monthly frenzied ovulation symptoms..if anything they're getting more and more extreme!

@KashyKash... welcome to the fold Grin.. totally agree with everyone else, the consultant is an idiot!! I conceived DS at 40 and had him 3 months shy of 41! After 2 mc's he was 3rd time lucky and obv meant to be. Ttc no.2 has been very very hard and I don't think it will happen as I'm 46 now. We just haven't been in the right situation though. AF came 3am this morn ..a few days early..but I've stopped bleeding already. It was painful and heavy at first but suddenly nothing! It's different every month. It explains the horrendous mood swings anyway.
Good luck everyone x

Cleozeta · 05/11/2018 11:28

Good luck this cycle chat and kashy.

Boosy - I know what you mean by different every month, i feel like that too. Just when I think I've experienced every possibly oddity, it throws another one at me. How lovely would it be for things to be predictable again!

As for me, currently cd9 and things looking a bit behind schedule based on my ava stats, will have to see what happens as not what to expect after chemical.

Also could do with some encouragement. Really want to get myself signed up for the half price fertility checks at my chosen clinic but I'm too scared to make the call. Would it happen straight away? Would the cycle after a chemical be the right time for this? Would there be a set timeline for the checks or would they do it all in one go? Is it even the right thing for me? Arrggghhh just don't know what to do

CritterTamer · 05/11/2018 13:08

@Cleozeta - I’m sorry you’re feeling so stressed out! I would recommend having the initial appointment - there won’t be any obligation, they will give you all the options, and you may find that some of the tests take some time to get done, for example they will probably send you for an HSG which has to be at a certain cycle day and could hold things up if you miss it this cycle 😊

CritterTamer · 05/11/2018 13:10

Also there some other blood tests that must be done before you start, HIV, hepatits and that sort of thing, and these also take a couple of weeks to organise and get back, plus there’s a two week cooling off period on the mountains of consent paperwork so you definitely won’t be rushed into anything 😊

Hope this helps.

Presh12345 · 05/11/2018 13:24

3dpiui head is banging and I'm exhausted #mustbepregnant 🤣

Cleozeta · 05/11/2018 13:44

Thanks critter, so it's likely if I do the tests now, then any 'procedures' won't happen until the new year anyway. That fits, I just feel I want to enter the clinic before I turn 42 in February. I don't want to be instantly frowned upon and the youger I can be, the better.

CritterTamer · 05/11/2018 13:58

Yes Cleo - most of the clinics try to avoid cycles over December because of Xmas shutdowns affecting egg collections and transfers, etc.. it would be good for you to use the next month to get all your tests done, go through all the options and paperwork, with a view to starting in January.

CritterTamer · 05/11/2018 14:00

For comparison, my initial appointment was late March, 1st cycle didn’t start until June.

Orchid222 · 05/11/2018 14:05

Wow Critter my appt was on Thursday and we're going for it next month

OP posts:
CritterTamer · 05/11/2018 14:41

Wow that’s fast Orchid, although 1 month of my delay was caused by having to wait for right CD to do the HSG, which I think you said you’d already had? I could have done it a month sooner if not for that 😊

Cleozeta · 05/11/2018 14:44

That sounds ideal. Just need to gather my balls together to make the call...

Cleozeta · 05/11/2018 14:46

What cd does hsg need to be done?

CritterTamer · 05/11/2018 15:01

If I remember correctly days 6 - 9. They have to wAit for AF to finish but won’t risk doing it near ovulation time.

Chatbash72 · 05/11/2018 15:54

Sorry ladies not ignoring but have no info in the ivf process.. boobs crazy but slight blood stained mucus ( sorry for gross out 🤢) so think af is on the horizon might try to dtd tonight just before it hits as right sided ov is niggling.. big hugs to all x

Orchid222 · 05/11/2018 16:09

Yes I had HyCoSy done earlier in the year, took it horribly- they had to wheel me out on a bed and monitor my blood pressure etc. :(
