Woo Hoo @crittertamer and @rose68
This is turning into a very lucky thread!!
There are bound to be more BFPs hopefully before the month is out 😉

Funkypuzzle · 20/10/2018 19:11

I am starting to feel nauseous at5 +1 Hunger is very intense too..
The wait before I can have a NIPT test seems like an age.. such an odd time. My foetus was trisomy positive last time. So now I want to be exited but I daren`t. But last time I actually got, pregnant despite taking morning after pill so I wonder if the hormone surge created bad conditions for the DNA. I wasn’t ready to fall preggo last time as my younger one was still a toddler and I think I must have been a bit depressed.

I have never been able to link the morning after pill and the trisomy as it was too painful to think I may have damaged my own foetus but now that I am pregnant again I feel I can move on from that trauma .. even if this preg does not work out.

Dinah99 · 20/10/2018 19:19

@Chatbash72 you have a good DH there! And I wish I had your stamina. You go girl!
@Funkypuzzle you mustn't try to square the circle on your last pregnancy, you'll drive yourself mad, these things very sadly happen and no explanation which can make it worse, hang on in there but don't start to beat yourself up and start to panic, be kind to yourself x

Funkypuzzle · 20/10/2018 19:26

ahh thank you Dinah. FX this is a healthy one xx

Rose68 · 20/10/2018 21:20

@Funkypuzzle, what is an NIPT test? Is it the same as the harmony test? I am so sorry to hear what you went through, I will be praying for a different outcome for you this time. x

Funkypuzzle · 20/10/2018 21:26

Yes I actually can’t remember what it stands for but Harmony is one “brand’ of NIPT test. Panorama is another etc..
The test that detects and analyses placental DNA in maternal blood...
Mine was positive for Trisomy 21. It’s sensitive as I’m sure many mums would have felt able or even happy to raise a Down Syndrome child but we decided we weren’t able to.

Letsdothis42 · 21/10/2018 00:17

@Critter OMG!!!! wow thats a super strong line, so so so so happy for you and so happy for you too @Rose68! BFP's make me happy to see on this board!

karryk · 21/10/2018 07:16

Morning ladies Smile is anyone able to suggest books or websites that they've found useful for overhauling their diet? I'd like to make mine fertility-friendly but bit perplexed on how and where to start Confused

Rose68 · 21/10/2018 08:32

@Karryk, I used the internet for my research, what I have been doing is....
Good things are... beans, fish, chicken, fruit, veg, nuts, dried fruit. In particular beans, avocado and blueberries. I have been eating these 3 things most days. And snacking on primal or naked bars. I have been having salmon once a week.
Bad things which should be eliminated are caffeine, sugar and red meat and most alcohol.
I’m not sure about bread, I haven’t been having much of it.
I found conflicting advice on dairy products, so I have continued having milk, cheese and yogurt.
Sorry I can’t refer you specifically, but I hope that helps. x

Rose68 · 21/10/2018 08:34

@Karryk and no soft drinks of any kind, I have been drinking water, decaf tea and occasionally fruit juice. X

karryk · 21/10/2018 08:50

Thanks @Rose68 Flowers that's a helpful starter. I don't really drink caffeine and haven't had alcohol for a few years - I think my challenge will be introducing fruit (never really liked it!) and reducing hidden sugar foods Wink maybe I can try the dried fruits...they're a bit more palatable!

Xx

Dinah99 · 21/10/2018 09:08

@karryk Zita west has some fertility diet books they may be worth a look, but it can get a bit confusing when going into detail about what you should eat at different stages in your cycle...

Presh12345 · 21/10/2018 12:49

So I had my first appt today. Came away quite positive. I don't live in UK so everything is done privately on insurance. He did a scan (currently cd2) and started me on femara for 5 days. I have to go back Saturday for another scan to see how eggs have come on with the prospect of first IUI next week!. Had anyone any experience of IUI? Success rates? Side effects of femara?

CritterTamer · 21/10/2018 14:39

@Presh12345 sorry no advice but you might do well to post your question on the infertility board - I’m sure you will get lots of help there.

Good luck! X

Cleozeta · 21/10/2018 15:33

How exciting presh! Must be good to have things moving.

As for the fertility diet situation, I purchased a Zita West diet book but have struggled with is for a few reasons, firstly because when I cook I cook for the whole family, and the kids would not touch anything advised in the zita west diet. Secondly I'm a terrible cook and its all a bit complicated for me, and thirdly, our local shop doesn't do decent fresh food, so I have to order on delivery which means I don't often (maybe twice a month) have fresh stuff. And a bit of a faff.
Weirdly on the red meat side of things, I don't actually like red meat but my TCM man has advised I eat lamb..

Russkispy · 21/10/2018 15:49

@Presh12345 , this is my previous post:
My IUI was done on the 12th of this month.. Responded well to Clomid and didn't need additional injections for boosting the follicles. had 4 mature follicles, 2 on each side (never had it this way with IUI), and the dominant on the day, was on the left at 20mm. Had my acupuncture straight after procedure and then was on a drip. Now taking progesterone pills and other good stuff including some pills to help implantation. Have to do HCG blood test on 23 and 25 of this month.
I had a successful IUI when I was 40 and now my DD is 16 month. And had another successful IUI in May this year, I'm 42 now. And it was positive but ended up in missed miscarriage. Both IUIs were from the first try. And both with Clomid tablets which I believe are the same as you're taking on different days of the cycle. Mine 5-9 then a scan on cd10 to see follicles development. With previous IUIs I had 2 mature follicles 20 and 21mm. IUI #1, responded well to Clomid. Second IUI not so much and needed additional Gonal injections. Then Ovitrelle trigger in both cases and IUI a day later.
This time Clomid worked well and I ended up with 4 mature follicles, 2 on each side. My lining was 15.5mm! And the dominant follicle about to burst. DH's sperm had the best result to date and yet to find out if it worked for us.
Hope this helps .

WishingonaStar77 · 21/10/2018 16:11

Hi guys,

I had my 3rd MC in July and I'm on my 2nd cycle since then. I always spot a few days before my period starts so it wasn't surprising this month on day 26 (usually a 28/29 day cycle) I started spotting.

Today though (day 28) I've had nothing and this afternoon I POS and got the faintest of faint line. But there was Def a line.

I've just got a little bit of watery discharge which was pink tinged. Does anyone think it may still be IB or am I just having a chemical?

Its far too early to know for sure I know that but just wanted opinions..

Thanks ladies x

CritterTamer · 21/10/2018 16:22

@Wishingonastar77 I don’t think there’s much you can do except wait and test again tomorrow morning - fingers crossed for you 🤞

WishingonaStar77 · 21/10/2018 16:56

Thanks CritterTamer.. I know, I will check again in the morning. I wish I hadn't tested but it's too hard not to 😩
Will post in the morning after testing again x

Dinah99 · 21/10/2018 19:20

@WishingonaStar77 ooh don't want to get your hopes up but I've heard that's a good sign on forums (take from that what you will) but as critter says the only thing really you can do is keep testing and watch for a stronger line. FX'd for you! X

Dinah99 · 21/10/2018 19:23

@WishingonaStar77 do you do anything for the spotting month on month (hopefully you may not have to now)? I've just started taking more b vits and increasing b6, hoping it works, I hate it when the spotting starts, good luck for whenever you test next xx

WishingonaStar77 · 21/10/2018 19:35

@Dinah99 thanks. Yes I literally bought some B6 today after reading up on leutal phase defects last night. I think mine is about 11 days ish and it's supposed to be 12. I have 8mg in my multi vitamin and was planning to take an extra 50mg on top x

WishingonaStar77 · 21/10/2018 19:38

LP defect can contribute to recurrent MC as less progesterone produced. My day 21 progesterone is always on the low side. But if I'm pg I clearly still ovulate just may need more PG.
My recent appointment with a consultant they said thea trial recently which showed positive impact on live birth rates when progesterone was given after BFP x

Dinah99 · 21/10/2018 19:57

@WishingonaStar77 I asked my gyn for progesterone in 2ww he said it wasn't necessary but I've read so much about it I've ordered the natural stuff anyway, he's given me a prescription to take in case of bfp, but as soon as my pot comes I'm using it in 2ww, it can't hurt... (unless taken before ovulation)
I'm secretly excited for you (well not that secretly! Grin

CritterTamer · 21/10/2018 20:05

@Wishingonastar77 - if you are worried about a short luteal phase (I don’t think you have LP defect if it’s 11 days - I think it has to be less than 10 days to be classed as LP defect), Then i can’t recommend acupuncture highly enough. My natural LP is 10 days, however after starting fertility acupunctureit went to 12 days, sometimes 13.

Good luck for your test tomorrow!

My official test date is tomorrow so keeping my fingers crossed that the BFP is still strong in the morning - testing with a CB digital.
