Another new thread! This is a lovely supportive thread for anyone who has suffered the loss of a much wanted baby. Affectionately known as the penguin huddle- this is the place to survive the ups and downs of this crazy journey.

@Cyclops10 Thank you, that's all really helpful. Do you know how quickly they tend to do these tests? Just wondering if we're talking 1,2,3 months of waiting before TTC again or even longer? I don't seem to have any trouble getting pregnant, just can't keep them ☹️

zarala · 18/08/2018 13:38

Hi @RedRobin7
I'm so sorry to hear you're going through a tough time

With regards to results - NHS takes AGES
I first saw the nhs RMC in May and I am supposed to get my results on Tuesday. BUT! They don't want me to TTC until Nov as they want to do a hysteroscopy in September and the results can take up to 8 weeks

Nhs is very slow and also won't see you until you've had 3!

If you decide to go private - which I did as well - you can get your results within 2 weeks! And can sometimes start TTC immediately- sometimes you have to start medication for a few weeks - but I think it's about 6 weeks max

Private for me is my preferred route / even though it can be a lot of money- I found it much quicker and more cutting edge than nhs...

I did some research and the following doctors come highly recommended

  1. Dr Shehata / at CRP. This is who I am seeing.
  2. Dr thum at the Lister clinic
  3. Dr Quenby at Coventry

Let me know if you have any questions xx

RedRobin7 · 18/08/2018 13:52

@zarala Thank you! We are definitely going private thanks to my work adding to my health insurance. I was asked if there was anyone in particular I wanted to go to but I didn't know of anyone and hadn't done my research. I'm hoping I'll get help from this consultant at my local hospital so we don't have to travel too far. My husband is already struggling to get the time off to come with me as he works all over the country! He will be there though - appointment in two weeks time as the consultant is currently on holiday. Really hope maybe if September is too soon maybe we will only have to wait until October to start TTC again. Thanks 😊 xx

Cyclops10 · 18/08/2018 16:00

@RedRobin7

Privately, the bloods shouldn’t take very long. There are a few that will be sent away to specialist labs (usually some of the autoimmune ones) but should all be back within a couple of weeks at the latest. I would double check the scan/imaging timings and if you’re going to have a hysteroscopy, how long that would take. It’s all much quicker privately as @zarala mentioned. Have you read Lesley Reagan’s book about miscarriages? I found it helped me enormously.

I can completely understand the frustration as the delay in TTC can affect us psychologically. I’d get a timeframe from the gynaecologist.

Lilimum4 · 18/08/2018 20:24

Hello ladies I'm officially 3days into my ttw according to FF app and temps. Bring on the symptom spotting and madness. I hope this is my month as I'm starting to lose hope

Yukka · 19/08/2018 09:10

Morning ladies just catching up on the thread... huge congrats @zarala really chuffed you! Fingers crossed for you and @laney79- try to enjoy it and take it easy. Easier said than done I know!

Sorry to see new joiners here but hopefully it will help you and there is deff a bfp trend from this thread :)

I'm now cd38... never before have I tested both ov and hpt at the same time! both negative. Don't know what happened to af. Scan on Tuesday as part of my rmc test, probably good timing to put my mind at rest. Really want af to show up though so I can get planning for next cycle. How Annoying!

Hope everyone is doing something nice today. I've got my 10yr old niece staying on holidays and she is very much going through 'the change' and obsessed with boobs-she wants to go shopping for bra tops because she's 'flapping all over the place'.....,😂

Lilimum4 · 19/08/2018 10:17

@Yukka morning. Hope af sorts its self out soon. Hope your shopping trip goes well. I'm going to my niece's birthday party she turns 13. Should be good fun it's all about hair nails and makeup

Laney79 · 19/08/2018 12:24

@Yukka ha! Love it! Flapping!!! Made me laugh! Thanks for the good wishes. Really hoping this one sticks. Hope you get some answers on Tuesday-not knowing is the worst xxx

glitterbug17 · 19/08/2018 12:37

Congratulations @zarala , FX it's a healthy sticky bean for u!!

Good luck @lilimum4 and @yukka , hope it's good news for u.

@redrobin7 , it sounds like you are in good hands and I hope u can TTC soon.

I'm on day 4 of AF and having horrible cramps. Might just lie in bed all day and feel sorry for myself :( xx

xJune88 · 19/08/2018 12:44

Desperate to try again but body currently isn't letting me.. had mc in January at 7 weeks and mmc in June at 14 weeks (baby got to 9 Was discovered at scan) it's now been 9 weeks since i lost baby and all tissue I'm still spotting :( how long did it take for your cycles to sort themselves out?! My cycles after my last mc were longer but still regular. I had a period 13 days ago which lasted 9 days then stopped bleeding for 7 days then started again and it's been stop start spotting and discharge ever since 😟 any experiences? No pain but wasn't offered any follow up or checks either x

Yukka · 19/08/2018 16:04

Yippeee...af has arrived!! Never been so happy to see it!!!!

Laney79 · 19/08/2018 17:38

Seems strange to celebrate AF but I'm really pleased for you @Yukka - hopefully it's just one weird cycle for you.

@xJune88 I bled for around 5 weeks straight after my MC -just spotting/gloopy bloody discharge. It ran straight into my first period, but when AF did show I passed some tissue which I think was a bit of leftover pregnancy sac. Seems although official line is three weeks then done there are plenty of us who don't fit that pattern. Hugs xxx

xJune88 · 19/08/2018 18:08

@laney79 that's why I'm concerned I've had my period, it's been 9 weeks and it's still going 😟 might ring the epu or my doctor if it's no better x

YellowDaffodils86 · 19/08/2018 18:54

Thanks @laney xx

Delilah7 · 19/08/2018 19:04

Hi ladies.
Is this something I could join?
I'm 23. Had a miscarriage on 1st August, cycle 3 first time trying for a baby. I'm really worried about conceiving again. I don't use OPKS as of yet but going off my CM and ovulation pain I've DTD 10th, 12th and 14th and 15th. I had my ovulation pains on the 14th and CM on the 12th/14th. I'm hoping I've caught it but very doubtful....
Any advice for me?
So sorry for all your losses x

Laney79 · 19/08/2018 19:36

@YellowDaffodils86 I used those as well as clear blue. They worked ok for me, and I used several a day to help me pinpoint my surge.

@Delilah7 I think that sounds like you've given it a very good shot. Looking back at the months when we conceived we dtd on cd11 and cd13/14 with my ov being cd13/14.good luck X

Delilah7 · 19/08/2018 19:37

@Laney79 hi, thanks so much for replying. I hope so. I do normally ovulate on 14th, that's only basing it on my CM and pains x

rdm10 · 19/08/2018 19:44

Roll call-
Rdm
35 (today!)
Mc at 10 wks in Feb
Mmm at 11 wks (baby stopped growing at 9+6) August 2nd

Those of you who started ttc immediately after mc, how does it work?
My story-Had medical management 13 days ago, stopped bleeding a few days ago. Had a follow up scan on thurs which said my lining was slightly thicker than it should be but pretty much ‘back to normal’. After mc I was told no sex for 2 wks to avoid infection.
So, before mc I ov’d cd14-16 usually. If mc counts as cd1 I’m now on cd13- can I start ttc?? I know cycles can be totally messed up after a mc but I’m thinking it’s worth a shot? Unless there’s a medical reason not to that I’m missing?

Blondcat · 19/08/2018 19:59

@delilah7 welcome and sorry for your loss.

@rdm10 happy birthday Cake
I was told not to ttc until I had a negative test so there was no confusion over new pregnancy. I didn't get a negative until after first af but my cycles are quite short and I think I had some left over tissue as that af was really heavy and clotty.

Delilah7 · 19/08/2018 20:01

@Blondcat I had a negative test on the 11th so a few days after bleeding stopped xx

Blondcat · 19/08/2018 20:06

@delilah7 sounds good and looks like you have dtd at the right times.

Cyclops10 · 19/08/2018 20:08

@RDM10

EPU were measuring my HCG levels and discharged me after the result was 8. The bleeding has stopped but I was still getting very faint positives on multiple pregnancy tests. EPU told me that I can start the week after. I can find no reason not to TTC straight after as long as you and DP feel emotionally ready Smile

Cyclops10 · 19/08/2018 20:09

And physically ready too!

Delilah7 · 19/08/2018 20:12

@Blondcat would be nice. Trying to not get so caught up on this month but it's so hard xx
