Lovely news @lilmum4. I had cysts with one of my pregnancies. Fingers crossed for you

LilMrsSunshine · 15/09/2018 23:47

Hi all,

I am so sorry you have all gone through these losses. I am still working my way through the posts on this thread, but I am hoping to join in if you'll have me!

TTC: #1
Age: 31
MMC: found at 12 week scan that our baby didn't make it past 10 weeks.

We lost our first on August 2nd by miscarriage at home induced by misoprostol.

I tested for HCG a week later and was shocked to find I already had a BFN. I took countless more tests after that.

We have been waiting for my first AF to try again.

The first time we got pregnant it happened the first month we tried (without any timing or tracking) - I was shocked and grateful because I had a terrible gut feeling I wouldn't be able to get pregnant or it wouldn't go well. I imagine it was instinct, because we eventually lost that little one.

Thai time around I have gone full crazy taking my temperature, using OPKs multiple times a day... I even created a very specific chart to track it all. But I feel strangely positive in trying again.

I was completely relieved to get AF last week at 5 weeks and a couple days after the MMC...

We are trying to just keep focused on being in love and enjoying each other... and both just have our fingers and toes crossed it will happen quickly again and will be a healthy baby this time around!

I am 35 have an 11 year old i wasnt trying at the time (3years ago now) but 3 months into a new relationship 😮 fell pregnant only to start bleeding a few days later went to hosp and quick as a flash was told it was ectopic and i had emergency surgery nxt morning and had my right fallopian tube and the live pregnancy removed. Thats the bit ill never get over 😢 scars heal memories dont. Anyway my point is ive been so scared ever since to try again. Ive been on contraceptive patch ever since pills make me vom lol. I never planned for my son to be an only child nor did i expect to fall preg so quick with new fella (still my fella lol) obs my chances of falling preg are reduced now and my chances of ectopic are high but im 35! Feel like times running out and i need to commit to it sooner rather than later even if my brain says noooo coz im scared. Id really love to hear from someone whos had similar scenario because right now although my friends are supportive no one i know has been through this. Im just scared i guess and understandably x

Pancakes7 · 16/09/2018 07:23

Sorry anyone who has been on here and is pregnant again. Do you know of a pregnancy after miscarriage group? I have searched and can only find one from 2016. I would really like the extra support. Thanks

frankiefumbles · 16/09/2018 07:42

@Pancakes7 I was about to ask the same thing. Someone suggested it to me here a few days ago but I can't find one. Perhaps we should start one? There must be others out there. I'm struggling to keep my cool about it all and I don't want to talk about it on the pregnancy thread because I don't want to upset people and equally talking about it here seems incredibly insensitive...

frankiefumbles · 16/09/2018 07:49

@Pancakes7 "positifrickentive" the thread continues to 16 but I can't find 17 onwards

doddlebobs · 16/09/2018 08:05

I've been so busy this week! Thank you @Boboelephant and @Mistymeow for your comments on my ewcm and chart! OPK are getting darker again so hopefully about to ovulate and take my ticket back to crazy town!!

doddlebobs · 16/09/2018 08:18

Oops didn't mean to post quite yet. I wish you could edit MN posts!!

I wanted to let you all know about my reflexology experience. Far too soon to recommend whether it 'works' or not in a substantive sense but after 2 sessions I definitely feel engaged and informed about my body. I'd love to have the cash to visit another reflexologist perhaps being a little vaguer about by 'back story' to see if they nailed the same symptoms!!

The first session was 90mins with a long interview at the start where I described by overall health and fertility history including showing her my BBT chart. She explains this isn't 'spa reflexology' and that it might hurt. Im a bit scared! She starts out with a overall !rub' and then gets to work... ouch!

2 miscarriages and my low body temperature (my cover line looks to be around 35.9C) she suspects I might have underactive thyroid. This is backed up by texture and knots at various points in my feet. Quite alarmed!! She gave me supplements to try and diet tips. I am going to try and book in with the GP to get a blood test.

Keen to hear anyone else's experience of reflexology or particularly under active thyroid.

Anyway.. enough of the "me show" I've got a weeks worth of your news to catch up on xx

strawberrye · 16/09/2018 08:31

@doddlebobs hello I don't officially have underactive thyroid, but it is underactive by the pregnancy ranges, and I have autoantibodies which means I'm likely to go on to develop hypothyroidism in the future. I have had a couple of thyroid measurements and over time my thyroid is getting worse. Seeing as I have had two pregnancy losses I wondered if I was losing them because my thyroid wasn't in safe ranges for pregnancy. So my GP got advice from endocrinology and I have been started on a small dose of thyroxine. Interestingly my pre-O temps before thyroxine were often below 36 degrees, whereas since starting it they are now between 36 and 36.5. Hope that helps!

@frankiefumbles @Pancakes7 I was on this one a few months back - you'll recognise some names from here! Pregnancy after loss: spring 2019 edition (The Brexit Babes) 🐧www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/3325046-Pregnancy-after-loss-spring-2019-edition-The-Brexit-Babes

@LilMrsSunshine So sorry for your loss. That must have been so hard. You were a similar stage to me - in April I MMC at 10 weeks, found at 12 week scan (at 13+ weeks!) and then had a surgical procedure. It was my second pregnancy (I have a DD now 21 months) but also without trying or tracking! Since then I've been going bonkers with all manner of tracking, treatments and general turmoil. Its a tough ride but you've found a good group to help you through

@Lilimum4 wahey so happy to hear Baby is on track and that it's rubbish luck to have the cyst at least it's on the radar.

@KnitKittySorry you're having a tough time. I don't know what else to say other than 'we're here for you' and that you're doing all the right things. I like your affirmation you CAN get pregnant. You will get pregnant again and you will have a little miracle (s!) Baby.

@Mistymeow im also new to charts but you're looking for 3 temps above your 'normal' I think. So maybe you actually ovulated Wednesday. FF puts it on your +opk which it did to me last month too but aren't we meant to ov a bit later? Hope someone better at this can comment for you more helpfully!

... will try to catch up more later. Sunday morning is marching on!xx

Lilimum4 · 16/09/2018 09:54

@craftymum01 can I ask you. Does the cyst stay painful through out the pregnancy
Did you have any problems

Cakelaur · 16/09/2018 09:59

@Mistymeow I'd probably put ov around cd24 not cd22. Because you haven't got cm and cp, ff with take the positive opk, but looks like your temp shift was a couple days later. But I'm hoping for you it was cd 22 because then there's a good 💙 in there!! 😉

Cakelaur · 16/09/2018 10:00

Sorry cd 23 not 24. Xx

craftymum01 · 16/09/2018 11:15

@Lilimum4 I was only pregnant til 15 weeks when I had the cysts (the loss was totally unrelated to the cysts) so I don't know past then. I didn't mind them painful as such, more uncomfortable twinges on that side. But to be honest I put that down to normal pregnancy growth twinges until they told me what it was. Are you having discomfort with them?
Did anyone else have a full term pregnancy with cysts that might be able to answer?

craftymum01 · 16/09/2018 11:15

*find not mind

Pancakes7 · 16/09/2018 12:49

@Doddlebobs thank you for the thread link. X

Pancakes7 · 16/09/2018 12:50

Thank you @Laney79

doddlebobs · 16/09/2018 13:00

@strawberrye that's really helpful, thank you for sharing. I'll speak to my GP - I'm not confident they will do anything but hopefully will take the MC in to account without making me wait for a third! Do you take any 'natural' supplements? The reflexologist gave me a massive list including Kelp, NAC and fish oils as well as an all round prenatal. I don't even know where to start - they are all so expensive!!

KnitKitty · 16/09/2018 13:35

@LilMrsSunshine hi. So sorry for your loss. Really hope you catch a sticky one soon. xxx

@PandorasMum I'm so sorry, it sounds like what you've been through was very traumatic and it's totally understandable that you're scared to try again. I haven't had an ectopic but I do sometimes get scared to try after MC myself too. I've just been ploughing on regardless because my want to be a mum outweighs the fear for me. Maybe you need to just give yourself some more time. xxx

@doddlebobs I hope the reflexology helps. xxx

PandorasMum · 16/09/2018 13:52

Thanks but i kind of feel like times ticking away age wise i know ive got a couple of years but it goes so fast 😮

Mistymeow · 16/09/2018 17:10

Sorry to see new faces on the thread. It's not a club you want to be part of but it has the loveliest members :)

@Lilimum4 that must have been a huge relief. So pleased. Sorry to hear about the cyst but glad it's been picked up and they are looking after you.

@KnitKitty I totally understand. I never thought I could get pregnant and then it happened and ended in such a trauma. But I'm afraid of it happening again. You seem like a really strong person and I think when you fall pregnant you will cope, and you have people who will look after you throughout. I also take it one step at a time, otherwise it can be scary to look into the future.

@Cakelaur thanks yes that's what I thought too. I'm not expecting anything yet with ttc because DH has only been on his treatment for a few weeks. It's more so I can time when to have the progesterone test. I think I'll go on Tuesday when I'll be either be 7 or 8dpo :)

keebo · 16/09/2018 17:54

@doddlebobs what you say about temperature is really interesting. My acupuncturist said I don't have enough yang which is the heat energy. I am ALWAYS cold and have rubbish digestion which apparently is linked. I've had my thyroid checked years ago but will talk it through when my referral to the fertility clinic comes through (I really hope it's soon) and report back any news. I hope everyone has been enjoying the weekend.

hellotoyellow · 17/09/2018 07:48

@PandorasMum I also had an ectopic but this summer, and it completely knocked me for six. Lost a tube, a good six weeks of my life in recovery,, and any privacy about trying for pregnancy which I'm finding very hard. I had a MMC in the spring too and that was much easier in some ways (physically the op was much easier, and while I was very sad for the loss I wasn't in shock about it having happened).

Thyroid wise - I was very cold during pregnancy that ended in MC (it was during the v cold weather but I was freezing all the time). In the end I had a full set of thyroid tests which were normal. The low dose of thyroxine for women with antibodies was a trial recently (TABLET, it's called, not published results) if you're interested in that. This was mainly why I asked for the tests.

Just trying to stay positive, thanks for all the encouragement. Day 11 of first cycle trying today - came home late last night and my ovulation test (first of this cycle) was a surprise static smiley so seduced DH successfully and now a bit worried about going down this rabbit hole again.

Sending you all baby dust Smile
