Oh and I’m 40 and a half

MATTSMAMMA · 12/06/2018 20:12

Forgot to put stats on earlier!

Me - aged 48 !!! Ooh that
Looks harsh in black and white - anyway yes 48 but certainly don’t feel it. It’s almost like I’m writing about someone else! Two DC age 6 and 11 TTC no 3 for sometime
now and had about 4 chemicals - remaining hopeful but trying to be realistic at the same time! Had first dc aged 37 and second aged 42. Contrary to medical opinions my second pregnancy was a breeze compared to my first - before during and after! x

weasledee · 12/06/2018 20:36

So sorry to read your post orchid, like others wrote we were hoping for the best outcome for you! Be kind to yourself and take some time out to rest and recover.... x

Chatbash72 · 12/06/2018 20:37

littlemimosa that was me who recommended yoga yin, glad it is helping.. feeling like I might need to get back to it soon x

littlemimosa · 12/06/2018 20:41

When I did my yoga earlier a video popped up at the side on YouTube called ‘pregnant at 46 Lauren Hanna’ so I watched it and it was v inspiring. I was going to post the link but can’t. It’s an American lady who had her child at 46 naturally after ttc for years and a couple of losses. The things she says have got me thinking. Especially the part about slowing down and being ‘receptive’. It made me think that I actually move around at a pace all the time, juggling full-time work, children and all their activities/homework etc plus trying to keep a clean home, keeping fit, cooking healthy food, being a good daughter, friend, sister and on and on. Does anyone else feel like this? I am going to try to make a concerted effort to slow down, it can only be good for hormones!

littlemimosa · 12/06/2018 20:43

Ah Chat - thank you. I really love it. They are the perfect length and the perfect pace for me. Yes you definitely should get back to it:)

Alibaba2 · 12/06/2018 20:53

I’m so sorry Orchid, that’s really sad. Treat yourself to some chocs, flowers, a nice take-away, massage etc. You will feel better in time. And you have hope in that it was close.

We all have hope and for us mid-40ers, miracles do happen!

Ali - 42, DD8 and DD6, ttc#3 for 2 years

Cleozeta · 12/06/2018 20:54

Hmm I really like your idea of the bfp list, that would boost our hope levels surely! I did do a 40+ thread on the pregnancy board as orchid said, and there were quite a few of us on there at varying stages of pregnancy. Jojo and I were just a day or so apart with our bfp's, hers has been successful thankfully, sadly mine was not. But as far as stats go, thats about right. It does seem about 50/50 for success rate here.
But while I was pregnant, I also joined the due in december board, which had women of all ages, and the rate of people miscarrying on that board was shocking. It did show me though thats it not just our age group at risk. It's high risk at any age.

KeepingTheFaith9 · 12/06/2018 22:01

Doh! Sorry - please read Matts for Boosey in my last muddled post - clearly the caffeine going to my head but I know you girls will forgive me the name confusion (mom v’a mama mistake!) x

Thanks for the list shiny!

shinyblackdog · 13/06/2018 08:13

No probs, will update this evening mini when I'm back on my laptop. Karigan, I'm really sorry, can't remember the rest of your story re dcs, time ttc, can you remind me and I'll update yours too.

Karigan198 · 13/06/2018 08:34

No that’s ok. I tend not to do specifics as not told anyone we were trying in ‘real life’ and I know family come on here. So if it’s ok we’ll leave it at age, ttc 7 months, currently pregnant but waiting to see if it’s viable.

KeepingTheFaith9 · 13/06/2018 08:42

Morning Ladies. Advice. I know, shocking to be asking for it on this forum!!! So since the TCM ended at the start of May my period has gone wack. The cycle after the end of the herbs was 44 days long, last month 35 and currently I am on day 37 and still no AF. Should I just wait this out? Bearing in mind I am not actually sure if I o'vlated.... this past month I did get some EWCM but no pains and I don't feel at all 'periody' or pregnant in any way so I know that there is no BFP around the corner. Is it worth going to the GP do you think - yet?
I am toying with going down the private clomid route again to encourage a kick-start - any thoughts anyone? x

Karigan198 · 13/06/2018 08:51

Go to the gp. If all they do is bloods to see what is going on it’s something.

Chatbash72 · 13/06/2018 10:06

KeepingTheFaith9 I would go to the gp to x

Orchid222 · 13/06/2018 12:35

Good luck Faith, I hope the gp will be able to figure it out. Now that you mentioned TCM, I got my bfp right after I finished it so who knows what my cycles will be after this mc. When I first started TCM they did get a bit longer, I hope they won't go completely crazy now.
Karigan-I meant to say yesterday, of course you'll see what happens at the scan on Monday and what the doctor says but you'll only be 6+4 so if there's any growth at all I'm sure the doc will tell you to wait but if not, wait! 6+4 is still early. Yes you should see a fetal pole by then but I've read so many stories where it didn't show until later and if the pregnancy is not viable you want to be absolutely sure of that before making a decision to stop it.
Ladies I need some help please. I'm keen to start on vitamins as soon as possible, holding off on vit B until I start ovulating again but what can I take in the meantime? Ubiquinol and vit C would be a good start right? And magnesium? I know a few of you have listed your vits before but I can't remember them all. I only used to take epo, vit b and ubiquinol before my bfp but I was also doing TCM now that I'm not doing it anymore I feel I should throw more vits at my body to see if that helps.
Minime-apologies, I forgot about your bfp yesterday! You got that early in the year yes? If so, that would make 5 bfp's in the first 5 months of this year with 2 still going strong so not a bad result considering we're all after 40 right? And that's not counting Karigan's special situation yet (not doubting the pregnancy just buffled about bfn's) so let's see how that develops, hopefully next week I'll be saying that's 6 bfp's with 3 going strong!

AtrocityNeedles · 13/06/2018 12:43

Orchid, a nutritionist once recommended Resveratrol as a very good antioxidant. I take a mountain high pile of vitamins daily Grin

Karigan198 · 13/06/2018 14:29

Lol apparently it can happen. I posted on another site and here and I’ve had loads telling me they didn’t get a BFP until 12 weeks odd gone! How strange is that. Wouldn’t believe it myself if I hadn’t had that scan

Cleozeta · 13/06/2018 15:12

Faith - when I went to gp for wacky cycles I was just told 'perimenopause' and sent on my way. I had only just turned 40! Make sure you push for more if you go.

Orchid, i avoided taking anything except ubiquinol and pre conception vits until 1st af so body could readjust. Now I'm back on the lot.

Karigan I still have high hopes for you!

Just been invited to a baby shower. 1st of all, that upset me as it feels like salt in the wound, and 2nd. Who has babyshowers in the uk??? Thought that was an american thing!

CritterTamer · 13/06/2018 15:35

Hi all
Just got back from 7 day follicle scan - the bad news is that only 8 antral follicles came up this month 😔 was disappointing as last follicle scan 2 months ago had 13, but the nurse wasn’t worried and said that 8 is still a good result for 40yo - many apparently only get 2 or 3 so trying to feel positive about that. The great news is that all 8 have responded amazingly well to the stims and are between 18 and 22mm already after only 7 days, which explains why I’ve been feeling so uncomfortable the last few days. looks like my EC will be brought forward to Friday or Saturday - just waiting on a call from the consultant to confirm 🤞

Chatbash72 · 13/06/2018 16:19

That's fab news CritterTamer.. 🤞🤞
Cleozeta baby showers are crap, my sis and I had m/c's about a month apart 2.5 years ago.. she then was preg 5 months later, me not so much and her shower was so diff and my sis in law found it hard too as they were trying. She is now 30 wks after having tubes flushed and is thankfully not having a shower.. but do you have to go? A tummy bug makes a good get out excuse.. your mental health is far more important than a baby shower.. 💕💕💕
How did the scan go sparklyglitterball ?
Re vits Orchid222 i take Superdrug pre conception vits and omega 3,6,9 and that all.. but tempted to start on Ubiquinol but ov came so quickly so will start next cycle.. x

Orchid222 · 13/06/2018 17:02

Critter that's great news!
Cleo- I wouldn't be able to go to a baby shower and sit and smile. I'm bleeding quite heavily, just passed a very pregnant woman and just seeing her made me choke. So upsetting.
Thanks Chat re: vits. You can take ubiquinol throughout the cycle so you don't need to wait for the next one is you don't want to.
