Am also in my fertile week. Dtd last night but seem to have more ewcm today 🙄 I don't think we will get chance to get busy again so am hoping it's done the trick. Started with light ewcm on Friday. I've no idea when I actually ov!!

Fingers crossed for you @Karigan198

weasledee · 29/07/2018 13:02

Right ladies help with this one...
Always had 28 day cycle, which apart from last month, which was 4 days late, has never changed
Always had nice temp patterns and fairly strong opk sticks.
So this month that has changed, got faint opk from day 8, but harder to day 12 and slowly gone fainter, today day 16, very faint. Weird thing is my temps haven't fallen below 37.3, and I'd expect around 36,8 to indicate ovulation!! Any ideas? Clearly my brain says menopause!!

Chatbash72 · 29/07/2018 13:44

@weasledee not sure I can help.. as ditched the temps in jan because they did my brain in... but think that this very hot weather might not be helping with our resting body temps... how's your cm ? Has it gone ew? Think that's prob the best indicator or checking your cervix.. peri menopause I thought starts with changes to length of af arrival...

CritterTamer · 29/07/2018 13:48

@Weasledee sorry I can’t be much help as I’ve never temped but if you never got a positive OPK could it just be an anovulatory cycle? Or if your temp has been high throughout could you have ovulated very early? Hopefully someone will have the answer for you soon 😊

AFM - AF is due tomorrow - this has been such a weird cycle will be glad to move on to the next one - dont even have normal pre-AF symptoms. Just counting the days down to when we can start the next IVF cycle I guess. Oh and I have an acupuncture appointment this week - has anyone tried fertility acupuncture? What was it like?

BooseysMom · 29/07/2018 19:07

Sorry i've been quiet too. Just finished a weird af. Tmi alert...the blood was distinctly strange smelling. It wasn't as red as usual and was brown-ish. It def isn't anything to get excited about sadly as it was exactly 28 day cycle. Now i'm heading towards the fertile window. No ewcm as yet.
Letsdothis42..i watched that vid and it reminded me of when we didn't know for 3 months that we were expecting! The poor lady was told it was v likely ov cancer but it was her baby instead! What an amazing surprise!
Today i felt a bit teary as i was going thru baby sleep suits and i just can't bear to get shot of them..even if we don't have dc2 i still can't bring myself to give them them. Its just too difficult to close the door x

BooseysMom · 29/07/2018 19:08

...give them away.

mellongoose · 29/07/2018 19:34

I'm with you on that @BooseysMom. DD went into her 'big girl' bed today. There is so much I should be passing on but I can't.

Maybe next year I also said that last year Blush

Chatbash72 · 29/07/2018 19:54

Ooh @BooseysMom I hear you... I have finally put all the cots up in the loft. Am about to have a root through for a few baby grows for new nephew.. but it has thrown me and now he is here it's not helping my broodiness.. no one is asking you to close the door.. you keep it open for as long as it needs to be.. my best friend ( who can't have kids but has also been single for over a decade) said well you may never have another one.. and you have to get used to that! We are still friends but the relationship isn't what it was... I will give up when my periods have stopped but for now they are reg as clockwork and I have surrounded myself with like minded ladies.. sending lots and lots of baby dust.. and also an article with Zara Tindall ( i love her, she had her first baby in same mat unit I worked in ) but she had 2 miscarriages between kiddies.. I think fertility probs are everywhere every age but we just feel it more because over 40's women wanting babies is not what drs want to deal with.. xx

Chatbash72 · 29/07/2018 19:56

And @mellongoose mile stones are hard... but don't give up hope... there are positive stories out there.. and positivity on here.. xxx

BooseysMom · 29/07/2018 19:56

Hi Mellon, Err yes, i also said that last year! How old is your dd? My ds is 4.5 and is going through a difficult rebellious stage. He most def doesn't want any babies in the house! Getting him to bed each night is like a military exercise..we battle with him every single night! So atm the thought of having another is enough to put me off ttc. Being this age with a 4 year old is exhausting and i sometimes wonder wtf am i doing here? !!

mellongoose · 29/07/2018 20:16

She's 3. She'll be 4 in a couple of months. Yes, there are plenty of trying moments every bedtime but she's genuinely a good kid. She comes into my bed every night and I'm trying everything I can think of to stop it! DH are in separate rooms as a result Confused

Hopefully this will change as of tonight and we might have more chances make her a new sibling!! Then they can keep each other company (eventually!).

Hang in there ladies. Would love to see a BFP on here soon x

weasledee · 29/07/2018 20:29

I agree chat, although my doctor was great, very supportive. It was the clinic that I got referred to which was the biggest waste of my time ever! As I mentioned at the time, the consultant just said "have sex" I couldn't believe I'd taken a day off work for that!!!!

mellongoose · 29/07/2018 20:43

Does anyone else get ov symptoms? Feel like my boobs are a bit bigger (though not tender) and I've been really knackered and short tempered for the last 48 hours.

Maybe I'm just finding excuses for being a total shitbag today Confused

CookieWaffle · 29/07/2018 20:48

Never noticed anything before TTC, now I notice sore boobs every month and I swear I could feel my ovaries yesterday, I mean really, after 40 years I'm just discovering these things Hmm

CritterTamer · 29/07/2018 21:00

LOL @Cookiewaffle - same here! I never noticed any of this stuff before, but my excuse is is was on the pill til age 39.5 and half of that time was on Cerazette which made me entirely amenstrual so I have no idea what an actual normal cycle should feel like really. Every one throws new weird symptoms at me now that I’m scrutinising them! 😊

CookieWaffle · 29/07/2018 21:19

I was never on the pill so I can't even use that as an excuse! Grin

shinyblackdog · 30/07/2018 08:08

Morning all, Critter, I do fertility acupuncture every other week. I enjoy it because my acupuncturist is great, works with lots of other ttcers so has helpful anecdotes and has had her own fertility issues, so really understands what it's like. I must admit that, while I like relaxing with plinky plunky music for half an hour or so I don't generally feel that different afterwards. In terms of the process, your acupuncturist should have a thorough conversation with you about your situation, plus your diet and lifestyle, and place the needles accordingly. Mine takes my pulse and looks at my tongue every time. The needles are fine, there are different thicknesses and mine uses quite thick ones as she says it gives her more control, so I'm aware of them going in but it's not painful. Sometimes they twiddle them during the session. Depending on what part of the cycle I'm in I get electric currents through ones in the stomach to stimulate the ovaries. It's an odd buzzy sensation.

Whether it works or not I couldn't say - I've got pregnant while having acupuncture but that might have happened anyway. It can't hurt though and it's nice to have someone to talk to who understands these things. Hope that helps, enjoy!

crivit · 30/07/2018 15:06

@Orchid222 - I had been considering the DHEA for sseveral weeks before taking the plunge. I'd heard it mentioned and it was also in the book 'It starts with the egg' as recommended for certain groups of people such as those with diminished ovarian reserve or age related infertility. The book seems to mainly discuss it in relation to taking it for a few months before an IVF cycle but as it works on egg quality I'm taking it just in case.

A micronized dose is recommended but I couldn't get hold of that (heard negative things about one supplier that I found and the website didn't exactly fill me with confidence) so I've got a standard one from Biovea but thought it worth a shot.

On a different note, my partner did their sperm test this morning and were told they only need to wait a week or so for the result so fingers crossed on them at least!

CritterTamer · 30/07/2018 15:44

Thanks @Shinyblackdog - that’s really helpful 😊 one good thing about the IVF cycle is that it’s cured me of my fear of needles so not too worried about that but good to hear it doesn’t hurt. In the past I’ve had it a couple of times during physio and it hurt a lot but that’s when I had a needle phobia so was rigid with fear and also the needles were going into injured muscles so hoping this will be a lot less unpleasant! 8m hoping it will help improve my lining mainly, plus give me a more positive mental outlook for the next IVF cycle.

@Crivit & Orchid - I don’t want to scare you but DHEA is that stuff that gets converted to testosterone I think? If so be careful with it as I did some research into that and it can cause nasty side effects If not taken under a doctors supervision, and can really mess up your hormones if you already had high testosterone. Plus I think it gives you horrible skin.

My next IVF cycle protocol will include testosterone gel which I’m not too comfortable with but apparently it can improve embryo quality, however they will only give it to me for the 4weeks leading up to the cycle start because of the side effects.

Orchid222 · 30/07/2018 15:52

Crivit-my friend also mentioned Biovea. What dose are you going for? I've read 3x25mg is good. Are you waiting to start on cd1? I expected to get a peak on cb opk today but I guess it'll now be tomorrow so wasn't sure if I should start during my 2ww or wait until cd1.

Very strong pmt / site boobs today so think cycle 1 was a fail, don't think we dtd enough at the right times either but we were insanely lucky with the other 2 (and I was younger) so didn't have to think about it much.

Think am going to get some ov sticks - which are the best to go for or are they a waste? Temping seems like a lot of faff!

Chatbash72 · 30/07/2018 19:43

@mondaycando1 I just bought some test strips from Poundland.. but stopped using them and just went for ewcm to know when ovulating.. too much stress for me x

CookieWaffle · 30/07/2018 19:49

I bought a pack on amazon, this is the only month I've had a positive though.

BooseysMom · 30/07/2018 20:06

mellongoose...ooh i completely understand! DS is in our bed every night and DH is in what should be his bed. .therefore opportunities to dtd are few and far between. I know mother-in-law is very against it from the start as DS won't stay at her house overnight and never has but surely she should be grateful for a virtually stress free grandparent experience! !
My fertile window is right now and so far number of attempts at ttc is big fat zero! ! Just got back from a zumba class after 6 weeks not doing anything and dtd is last thing i want to do ..i just want a long bath and to sleep for 2 days!!

mondaycando1 · 30/07/2018 22:18

Thank you @chatbash and @cookie. I'll have a look in my lunch tomorrow in poundland. Am trying really hard not to think the sore boobness is anything other than af symptoms.....
