Welcome emma, glad you found us! You are in the right place, as many of us have been in varying similar situations.
I really wouldn't worry to much about the fsh result as its just one small snapshot of very fluctuating patterns. Gp's read too much into it as it's the easier option.
Your situation could be a few things, an anovulatory cycle, which should resolve in time, or a pregnancy which has not reached levels of readable hsg yet. It's worth investigating further if still no answers soon

emmalou512 · 01/07/2018 22:40

Thankyou for the warm welcome its really nice to have people to look to who are in or have been in similar situations.

Its just really out of the ordinary for me. My Af didnt change, have never been irregular and the only difference in the past few months was that my cycle got slightly longer so about 32 days apart. No heavy bleeding or anything else to make me think anything was changing. I just find it really odd that all this followed that 1 occasion of dtd unprotected on 20th May 1 time in 2 months. Im just going to see what happens now.

Regarding Fsh level, ive read that the test should only be done near very beginning of cycle and that any other time during the cycle the results are irrelevant?

Letsdothis42 · 02/07/2018 01:16

@littlemimosa @alibaba @booseysmom

Thanks for the welcome back! I was so optimistic at the start and then nearly 2 years down the line, DTD around ovulation time (going by ovia app) tried the opk's the cheap amazon ones and didn't ever get a positive strong ovulation line, so been going by how I feel (TMI but not EWCM but more watery), all the blood tests I received from GP showed I was ovulating and they were done 10+ months ago, I'm too old for a free IVF go on NHS, (this date passed due to Dr and fertility clinic mistakes) went for HSG, they said all ok and now in limbo because no AF and BFN!

@alibaba yes we were on this thread together and sad that we haven't had our positives yet but here is hoping and praying! I am not sure how many days DPO I am but going by the Ovia app I should be 26 DPO but going by how I felt with ovary pain and watery CM it I could be 16/17 DPO?

Hi @emmalou do you definitely know you're not pregnant im not quite sure what undetectable HSG means via a blood test, fingers crossed you are and @booseysmom's story fills me with hope!

BooseysMom · 02/07/2018 06:45

Letsdothis...you're 42 right? I was 40 and 41 just 3 months after having ds but i tell everyone i was 41! At 42 you have a very good chance. Now i'm 46 hope is draining away for me but i never forget how lucky we are to have ds...A sprinkling of baby dust coming your way!!

Chatbash72 · 02/07/2018 06:57

Welcome @emmalou512 have you tested again? Gps seem so insensitive about women in their 40's, this thread seems to highlight this...
loved your comment about castration 🤣🤣🤣 my ex and I were arguing about baby number 4... I wanted, he didn't then after he buggered off new gf up duff before we even had the absolute drawn up 😡
Thankfully have been able to have little ones with hubs no 2, but we are struggling to add to the numbers..
@shinyblackdog your list is getting nicely longer x
@Letsdothis42 not sure if I have said welcome back already, this thread has gone bonkers over weekend and have struggled to keep up.. but so sorry the health service has let you down... a long running theme on here very sad 😞😞😡
Keeping everything crossed for you @CritterTamer but sobbing at dinosaurs is a good sign.. xxx

weasledee · 02/07/2018 09:44

Hi Emma welcome to the group....

Ladies now doing two types of symptom spotting 🙄😁
I've noticed for the second half of the month I'm feeling sick mostly in the mornings. Now I'm hoping this is a pregnancy symptom (Like I do every month) but I'm more concerned it's a menopause symptom..... it's been happening for about 3 months now....
Anyone else having this??? Confused

weasledee · 02/07/2018 09:47

Meant to add, I have my 2st recurrent miscarriage appointment this morning (even though they said I didn't meet the criteria!!)
Anyone know what I should expect? Thanks - bit nervous Confused

weasledee · 02/07/2018 09:48

**2nd 🙄

Chatbash72 · 02/07/2018 10:01

@weasledee good luck, have know idea what to expect but hope it is positive.. not heard about the sickness before, not associated with menopause.. I have had waves of nausea but not a good trial singer as had an early m/c last cycle.. so think mine was connected with preg, just little one didn't stick.. xxx

Chatbash72 · 02/07/2018 10:03

@weasledee ?? Trail singer ??? Not got my brain in this morning... have know idea what I meant

Cleozeta · 02/07/2018 10:09

Weasle I had a few cycles of feeling nauseous in the later part of the 2ww last year. I usually get some kind of 'teaser' every cycle and it's often different. I wasn't sure weather the nausea was perimenopause related, progesterone related or psychological but it stopped.

weasledee · 02/07/2018 12:04

Well I can now tell you what an appointment at the recurrent miscarriage clinic is like....... it's an utter waste of time!!!! Angry
To sum up this is the info and help I got....
You're 42, have 2 kids so there's nothing wrong. Plus u have regular periods.... I asked about progesterone if I got pregnant - no they wouldn't give me that as apparently it wouldn't help.
I'm livid at what was a complete waste of my time! I feel lik I was completely written off, no mention of tests or anything..... 😡

Chatbash72 · 02/07/2018 12:39

Ooh @weasledee that is beyond crap treatment of a patient... we have you and will support 💕💕💕💕 sending big hugs x

Cleozeta · 02/07/2018 13:03

Weasle that sounds really crap. NHS seem very reluctant to perscribe progesterone and I have no idea why. I was made to feel really stupid when I asked for my progesterone levels to be checked when I got pregnant before.
Utter crap that they wont test or anything either, sounds like they were really dismissive.
What will you do next?

weasledee · 02/07/2018 14:21

I honestly have never been to a more pointless appointment for anything, ever. His closing comment "have sex, best of luck" unbelievable.
I was wondering if I'd get the same reaction if I went private! Probably not? Have you ladies received better help and advice than that??
So medically there's no more help for me. I just don't know why I even had this appointment today?? They could have told me over the phone, instead as I take time off work etc Angry

Cleozeta · 02/07/2018 15:40

I think it would be a very different scenario if you went private.

emmalou512 · 02/07/2018 17:36

No ive not tested again since my blood test came back negative nearly 2 weeks ago.

TMI but i keep getting lower mild cramping that seems to coincide with an increased flow of discharge, just had what looks like snot again TMI sorry. This discharge seems to happen worse when im getting this cramping but the increased flow has been like this for weeks, sometimes milky sometimes clear and varied textures.

Could all this be linked to my FSH being elevated? I just feel like theres something going on down there, like bob the builder is doing some home improvements or something 😅

Letsdothis42 · 02/07/2018 17:46

@chatbash Thanks, yep I am starting to realise some of the treatment we are receiving is utter crap!

@booseysmom no I am 43 and 3 months but still holding out hope! fading fast but still in there!

@weasledee that is unbelievable, the Dr's comment and the pointless appt. I remember at my last fertility clinic appt when I was told that cut off date was 42, could've told me that before the nearly one year wait for the appointments and I would've thought of something else whereas my GP said 44 was cut off for a go on NHS, the fertility clinic Dr said 'oh all your tests are fine, no chance of conceiving with IVF off you go have sex and best of luck but virtual close door in my face type of scenario!

Stupidly I closed myself off for months instead of bouncing back!

@Emma Im laughing so much at your bob the builder comment I feel exactly the same so when you said that your HCG was undetectable with a blood test I have been wondering if there is any point in going for mine or just waiting and getting a result like @booseysmom where nothing can be seen or known and 12 weeks later there is a baby in there !!!

Cleozeta · 02/07/2018 18:24

Emma I had discharge like that in my annovulatory cycle, but I also had it in my pregnancy. I think the discharge can be a result of stuff going on, whatever that may be!

littlemimosa · 02/07/2018 19:17

Weasel sorry it was so disappointing. I’ve not been to recurrent miscarriage clinic but my fertility appointments concluded the same way ‘on paper there’s nothing wrong with you and there’s nothing else we can do for you. Oh and if you want to self- refer for ivf here is a leaflet.’ It’s very upsetting. Could you feasibly go private?

Emma - welcome aboard. I can’t advise you I’m afraid. My body is a mystery too right now.

So ladies I was reading something this morning which was a British study done which basically found that women who ate lots of legumes delayed menopause by over a year and those who ate oily fish delayed it by up to 3 years! Guess what I’m eating more of?!

littlemimosa · 02/07/2018 19:18

Critter- how are you feeling? Hope you’re holding your s* together! Thinking of you.

littlemimosa · 02/07/2018 19:21

Here’s the study link:

littlemimosa · 02/07/2018 19:23

Oh and refined pasta and rice was associated with earlier menopause. Yikes.

Cleozeta · 02/07/2018 19:47

I read the thing about white pasta and rice, I've now gone brown. But I didn't know about the fish. Which fish would be classed as oily fish? And what the hecky pecky is legumes??

CritterTamer · 02/07/2018 19:51

@Littlemimosa I’m alright, thanks for asking. Don’t really have any hope that I’m going to get a BFP. Although I do have lots of ‘symptoms’ they are very on and off and not getting any stronger so I’m pretty certain it’s just all the hormone supplementation I’m on causing them.

Feeling kinda down and trying to psych myself up to start the whole thing again 😔 to top it off I’ve got a very old filling which has cracked and is causing me loads of tooth pain - went to the dentist today to get it replaced and they can’t take it out if there’s even the smallest chance of pregnancy because apparently it has mercury in it!? I had no idea fillings were made of mercury - it’s been gradually crumbling and breaking up for months and I’ve been swallowing bits of it!
