@cleozeta legumes are beans and oily fish would be things like mackerel and sardines (definitely not tuna and cod).

Alibaba2 · 02/07/2018 19:59

I’m deffo gonna stock up on oily fish and legumes then - thanks for the tip!

Critter, best of luck for tomorrow!

Chatbash72 · 02/07/2018 20:15

@Cleozeta mackerel is a good oily fish.. with a blob of natural yog and a little horseradish is yum.. legumes kale, greens etc good antioxidants.. @littlemimosa have switched to wholewheat but not gone brown in the rice front, only have basmati once a week.. x

Cleozeta · 02/07/2018 21:56

Critter good luck for tomorrow, try not to feel too down yet, there is still a possibility.
Scary about the mercury filling, I wouldn't have guessed that!

Why is it always the really grim foods that are so good for us?? Mackerel is vile!! Not sure I can bring myself to eat that, but I guess I'll have to try. Why can't it be cod?? (With chips & curry sauce obvs)

SparrowSG · 02/07/2018 22:43

Hi all, I posted on this thread a few months ago and just haven't seem to have found the time to actively contribute since then, apologies for this.

I wanted to post again though as I am one of the 40+ success stories as I did get pregnant through my first round of IVF back in March 2016 and had my first (and only so far), DS at 42 in Dec 2016. I also have two very good friends who are pregnant at 45 (after 5 rounds of IVF) and naturally pregnant and gave birth at 44, both their first children. So it can happen, with and without the help of science.

I also wanted to say that if anyone has not been to see the Dr about possible fertility issues and may be entitled to help on the NHS to exaggerate completely about the time you have been TTC! I had to wait so long for my NHS appointments back in 2015, that it added months onto the waiting for answers. Then finally when we did get to see a consultant he was close to useless offering no advice and just told us we would have to go for IVF, which he then pointed out most strongly, would not be funded by the NHS Angry

I've now just completed another go at IVF for DC number 2, but after an FRER test on Sunday morning, I think my luck has run out. I do have an HSG blood test booked tomorrow, but I am not holding out much hope.

I do have some clomid type tablets left over from my IVF cycle so I may try these again for the next couple of months while deciding whether to go for IVF again.

I'm off now to add lots of lovely kippers and kale to my shopping list!!

littlemimosa · 02/07/2018 23:23

Hi Sparrow, good luck for your blood test tomorrow. Let us know how you get on.

Critter- good luck to you too for tomorrow. Also, I don’t want to scare you but I’ve read some negative stuff linking Mercury fillings with infertility and other things (especially if they’re actually cracked and leaking). If I were you I’d try to hunt down a ‘bio’ dentist in your area and try to get it safely replaced.

I love fish so have no issues eating any sort really but more palatable oily options might be smoked salmon (with cream cheese on a bagel obvs, yum) smoked mackerel (Waitrose do a yummy soy and honey one), mackerel from a tin which is slightly less erm fishy and baked salmon cooked in soy, ginger, garlic and chilli. No need to go all out and eat herrings and roll mops!!!!

Legumes are any beans, lentils, green beans, peas and also seeds and nuts.

littlemimosa · 02/07/2018 23:26

ALi thanks for the link. I’m so scared to actually do it tho. The thought of something scraping the inside wall of my uterus makes me want to curl up be die lol.

Orchid222 · 03/07/2018 00:08

Welcome Emmalou and Letsdothis.
Sparrow- really sorry to hear about your bfn and fingers tightly crossed for tomorrow!
Critter- I think as long as your symptoms come back you're fine, I'd worry if they went away and stayed away. Good luck for tomorrow, I really hope it's great news.
Mimosa-thanks for the article, now my Chinese lady's diet makes a lot of sense with all the beans, fish, black rice and greens though I must admit I haven't followed it in a long time mainly because I'm just not hungry recently esp in this heat and can't be bothered cooking but I'm going to get better with my diet starting tomorrow.
Hobbs I think you asked if the increased fertility after a mc was based on a study. Yes it was but whilst that mentioned it's increased for 3 months elsewhere I read 4-6 weeks so I'm not sure what's true. If the latter ideally we should get pregnant immediately after a mc or in the next cycle but easier saud than done! ☹

Good luck for tomorrow @Critter

Thanks for the success stories @sparrow, its so nice to hear them!

Legumes and Salmon here we come!

CritterTamer · 03/07/2018 07:51

Hi ladies

So it was a BFN this morning. I knew deep down that it was coming - have done for about the last 4 days or so, but still utterly devastating to see it. Kind of feeling numb at the moment - expect the meltdown will come later. Can’t really say much else at the moment - the thought of gong through all that again is a bit overwhelming, but thanks everybody for your support over the past month 😊

Presh12345 · 03/07/2018 08:10

So sorry @critter. Was thinking about you earlier. Not much else to say. Lots of hugs.

Cleozeta · 03/07/2018 08:13

So sorry to hear that critter. A BFN must be so much harder after all you went through this month. Bigs hugs to you, and fingers crossed for next cycle. Will you start the next one straight away?

Orchid222 · 03/07/2018 08:35

Oh Critter so sorry to hear that! Life is so unfair. Take care of yourself, big hug.

Arrrhhh so sorry critter, I too was thinking of you this morning....
After all you went through it must b extra hard, take care x

Chatbash72 · 03/07/2018 09:07

Ohhhhh @CritterTamer I am so sorry..could it just be not enough hormones levels to register on the test? Sending lots of love and hugs.. 💕💕💕💕💕

Alibaba2 · 03/07/2018 09:30

So sorry Critter. I think you have a good chance if it working within the 3 goes. x

Hobbes39 · 03/07/2018 12:55

@CritterTamer - I'm so sorry. It's so shit. I know it's not much consolation, but you would have beaten the odds had you been successful, as it is unusual to work first time. There is no reason it won't work next time tho. I know the idea of going through it all again is awful at the moment, but honesty it's easier the 2nd time. Did you have frozen embryos? If so, FET is a doddle in comparison with a fresh cycle. Thanks

Letsdothis42 · 03/07/2018 14:26

So sorry @critter, was thinking of you x

KeepingTheFaith9 · 03/07/2018 15:38

Sorry to hear this @Critter. Sending you warm hugs and the best of luck for next time. 🙏🏻 Look after yourself. X

littlemimosa · 03/07/2018 16:21

So sorry to hear that Critter. It must be extra hard when you’ve invested so much in it and actually seen the embryos. Take time to grieve and recover mentally as well as physically. You will feel up to it again but it’ll take time. Also don’t forget there is still always the chance you’ll fall pregnant naturally. That happened to a friend of mine in her 30s. She went thru one failed ivf then 3 months later fell pregnant naturally. She always says she felt that the ivf woke something up inside her and enabled her to conceive. Sending you a big hug ❤️

KeepingTheFaith9 · 03/07/2018 18:15

Ladies just reading the ES in the way home and saw this article - can’t recall who was chatting about endo scratching but here you go :

Faith- thanks for that link. That’s very interesting. It’s just confirmed what I was thinking. I just can’t face a painful procedure. The HSG was weird enough.

This is me- hot flashes, dry skin, dry eyes, dry vag, no period, no ovulation. I mean talk about ticking all the boxes for low oestrogen/ menopause Sad God I miss my hormones. I’m not ready for this.

shinyblackdog · 03/07/2018 21:58

Evening everyone, sorry the updated list took a while. Last week was the first anniversary of dd2's birth/death at 20 weeks after anomaly scan - spent it with dd, had a lovely day bunking off nursery in the sunshine. Made me realise though, while I was devastated when I miscarried in April, a little part of me was relieved I wouldn't have to go through another anomaly scan. Maybe my brain told my body and that's why it's playing me up now... Seriously considering some therapy.

Critter, so sorry about your test - we're all feeling it I think.
