Anyone else waiting to TTC?

I thought we could keep each other company while we wait!

Your age/DH age: 29/39
Baby #: This will be #2
When are you TTC: I think we should start in June when DS is 2 but we are so broody it might be sooner
Why are you waiting: We are doing some house renovations at the moment & sorting out some stuff financially. Everything seems a bit up in the air & I can only stress about a couple of things at a time. I'm looking forward to life settling down only to have a newborn mess it all up again Grin
What are you doing to keep busy?: I'm project managing house renovations & enjoying one-on-one time with DS before he (hopefully) becomes a big brother. DH & I are having a huge joint birthday party in September for my 30th & his 40th so I'm enjoying planning that!

@rollerskaterdata I will PM you! I've been knocked out with a tummy bug all weekend which is a crappy way to spend my bank holiday I am treating myself to some dry toast tonight.. Sad

That is a lot of weight to have lost! You don't need food for comfort as you have all of us on here Grin

Oh wow that does sound stressful! I can only imagine how it feels snuggling your little baby afterwards Halo

@NoseringGirl Good luck!!

@TheOneWithTheBaby Matching socks sounds so cute!!

@cupcakesandglitter I'm so sorry to hear what happened. I just can't believe people can do things like that, it's awful Sadhow much do you think it'll put you back? Can you get an alarm fitted or anything? It won't change what has happened but might make you feel safer. Sending hugs.

TheOneWithTheBaby · 28/05/2018 20:51

I did another ovulation test tonight and it's the first time I can actuallly see a second d line properly. I hope this is a good sign and means I will ovulate this month! I hope it becomes darker every day now. Fingers crossed!

My next AF is due 13.06. I'll try to had out testingtill then but not sure how realistic that is 😂

TheOneWithTheBaby · 28/05/2018 21:05

Just realised that post didn't make sense in isolation. June will be when we start TTC, so I'm just hopeful I'm actually ovulating.

NoseringGirl · 28/05/2018 21:42

It's so exciting when those LH tests start to get darker, hope you get a positive one soon @TheOneWithTheBaby!

Pinkroseuk · 29/05/2018 06:58

Just catching up on posts form the last week or so- it's been manic at work and I have had a lot of stuff dumped on me so been working an extra 3-4 hours a day!!

@cupcakesandglitter so sorry to hear about your car - I would totally feel the same and not want it back - my husband fitted a nest outdoor and indoor cameras when we moved house and although it cost a couple of hundred pounds it really puts my mind at rest that I would know if anyone was up to something. Might be worth investigating - we also love using it to watch the wildlife back on in the garden

@TheOneWithTheBaby Matching socks is a great idea!

dottydally · 29/05/2018 07:30

For anyone who is feeling broody, here is the most lovely thread for your Tuesday morning! I can only hope our parents are this excited.

TheOneWithTheBaby · 29/05/2018 07:47

I love the sock idea but cat und many exciting ones yet. Found some on happy socks but nothing really cute, just colourful. Will have to keep searching!
We have a bit of a sock tradition in that we give cool socks to each other at times. It was the first present DH gave me and I gave him some on our wedding day. So I want these to e special. Any suggestions where I could look?

Nosering, honestly, it felt like I could never see a line. I know it was still negative yesterday but at least I know something is happening in there!

@dotty, reading it now!

TheOneWithTheBaby · 29/05/2018 07:53

Sorry, I also wanted to ask about baby must haves in my post but then forgot.

We went to IKEA on Saturday (not sure whether the screaming babies made us more or less broody haha).
We thought for the beginning we'd need a side sleeper cot, but I read they only last 6 months. Then after that we looked at IKEA cots where you can take the from off so it becomes a toddler bed. They looked quite long so could a child stay in them a couple of years? Then we thought we'd need a wardrobe, a changing table and some sort of toy storage. Have we missed anything?
Our second bedroom isn't huge and has the built in wardrobe in it. It also currently has our desk there which we'd like to keep in there if possible, at least while the baby doesn't spend much time in there playing. Once they're bigger we could move that to the bedroom but it would be a tight squeeze so we'd rather wait while the baby doesn't care. Does that sound mean?

Also, have we missed any other furniture purchases? It felt like there wasn't actually that much, but I know the really expensive things are the car seat and stroller.

Rapunzel91 · 29/05/2018 08:00

Hi waves been reading through most of this thread and so happy to have found others in the same situation! Going to add my stats if no one minds.

My age/DP age : 26/37
Baby number : number 1 for me, 3 for DP
When are you starting TTC : starting TTC in July, not long now!
Why are you waiting : Started a new job in January so want to have been in the job for 6 months before we started trying. Been counting down since the first day of the job Grin
What are you doing to keep busy : We got a puppy in November which has been helping lots to keep busy and has also helped slightly in my extreme broodniess. Also exercising and thinking it will help prepare my body for pregnancy. Other than that I feel like TTC is constantly on my mind! Grin Blush

happytobemrsg · 29/05/2018 09:14

Welcome to the newbies!

@rollerskaterdata your breakfast is so healthy! I tend to crab those sugary cereals but I have recently started the 16:8 diet so sometimes I miss breakfast altogether.

@cupcakesandglitter I'm so sorry that happened to you!! We have had a lot of car thefts where I live and it's very scary. I hope it doesn't put off you ttc for too long

@TheOneWithTheBaby in DS' room we have a cot which turns into a bed (a hand me down from DH's cousin), a changing table/chest of drawers & wardrobe from mothercare. We also have a comfy armchair & footstool from Next which I use for night feeds but I don't think that's necessary if you haven't got the space. It was a gift from my best friend who passed away last year so I'll be using it for every bubba. Oh we also have a really sturdy chest with a cushion on top which I store nappies & wipes in

@happytobemrsg

Thank you for or your response. For now I think everything could fit fairly easily into half the second bedroom then. Then as they grow we could move the desk into our room. I just don't really want to do that while the baby is immobile and in one room with us especially. We'd just have no space!

I do actually have a rocking chair which I thought I'd put in the room for night time. I love that you've got your friend's chair!

Please someone tell me I am not insane thinking of furniture and everything else already!

My ovulation strips are becoming darker. I am so excited it's unreal. I know it's notpositive yet but at least there's something normal going on!

Jelliestogether · 30/05/2018 20:47

@theone sounds positive about the ovulation strips!! I'm having to sit on my hands and to not buy any. Especially as my period is late again 🙄 but positive news my scan is next week to see what's going on!

@cupcakesandglitter so sorry to hear about your break in! Can't imagine what it's like! Hopefully it won't put you back ttc for long if at all!! Got to do what's right for you though!!

Hofty · 30/05/2018 20:51

Hi everyone! I posted right at the start of this thread, but then life rather got in the way so I haven’t read many of the later posts. Just to recap, I’m 22 and DP will be 27 when we start ttc #1. He will also be DH by then. We’re getting married on the 14th of Sep, so we’ve settled on the 1st to start trying. So excited! I started folic acid and a vitamin D supplement this week as I read on the NHS website that you need to take it for 3 months prior to ttc. It feels good to be taking an active step towards ttc at last! Did everyone else take folic acid 3 months prior to ttc? Is anyone else doing that now?

rollerskaterdata · 30/05/2018 21:15

@dotty, looking forward to hearing from you! Grin

Hi Hofty, welcome (again!). I started taking pregnacare at the beginning of May, will be TTC in August so 3 months ahead too!

And welcome @Rapunzel Smile

Hofty · 30/05/2018 21:25

Hi rollerskaterdata! What’s pregnacare?

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 31/05/2018 08:30

Currently on Day 36 of my cycle... Sad
Thought the last 2 cycles of 29 and 30 days were too good to be true. -Blindly- Hoping it's just a glitch and not a sign of things to come.

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 31/05/2018 08:39

To be honest, we did have a little mishap a couple of weeks ago. Natural Cycles keep moving back my ovulation date so we DTD without protection... obviously thinking I knew better than the Astrophysicist who invented it! Turns out we DTD the day I ovulated (I'm such a knob). Had a few BFN's in the past couple of days so I very much doubt it's anything but an irregular cycle. Now with the possibility of being preggers (albeit small considering negative tests) I'm actually praying for my period. That's something I thought I would never say! Don't fancy walking down the isle 5 months gone. We've also booked a big holiday for Feb which would be when potential baby would be born... Very annoyed at myself. It's safe to say I'm going to be following the app to the letter from now on.

rollerskaterdata · 31/05/2018 22:47

@Hofty, it's a vitamins and supplements brand that is well known for providing pre-pregnancy/pregnancy and new mother vitamins (amongst others). I've been taking them for nearly a month now - AF is due this weekend/the beginning of next week and I was quite worried as some reviews say taking them can delay / mess with your cycle. Guess I'll have to wait and see if they do! If indeed they have I'll stop taking them and switch to just a folic acid/vitamin D supplement

@assume, fingers x you get the outcome you want! I know what you mean - I can't wait to TTC but at the same time I don't want to accidentally get pregnant before we start trying in August, we've got a holiday booked for then, we're house hunting at the moment which is stressful enough, and (selfishly I know) I don't want a baby due before May at the earliest, DS is a December baby and I want a nice gap between the two, plus a baby born in Summer this time would be very nice! We're just using condoms now and every time we DTD I find myself checking it afterwards to make sure it hasn't broken or leaked (TMI!) Blush

cupcakesandglitter · 01/06/2018 01:24

Sorry I'm super tired and just about scrolled through to quickly update myself on what's going on 😂

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I'm the exact same! I could've sworn after last month my body has finally settled.... but nope. Long month again :(

@rollerskaterdata We're the same, I'm so paranoid about condoms 😂 I feel like it'd be just my luck now to get pregnant accidentally - which as much as I'd love to be pregnant is the last thing I need!

dottydally · 01/06/2018 09:59

@rollerskaterdata how do I DM? Blush I thought I would be able to do it on the app, but can't see how.

Panic stations here as I am 3 days late. We have been using condoms and I've only been off the pill 5 months but I've been bang on time every month. I. am. freaking. out.

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 01/06/2018 10:48

@cupcakes. At least we’re not alone. What day are you currently on if you don’t mind me asking? Do you know what causes yours, if anything?
I’m on day 37 now. 😫

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 01/06/2018 11:21

@dotty. Oh no. Have you taken a test yet? X

AnotherSillyNameChange · 01/06/2018 11:25

Can I join!?
I'm 28, will be baby #2 and hopefully we can start trying in September!
We are waiting to buy a house, I hope it works out!
I'm keeping busy with work and thinking about doing an OU course...

dottydally · 01/06/2018 11:26

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever not yet. I am trying to convince myself it's nothing which I know isn't the best idea.

No tests in the house but I'm going shopping tomorrow. Decided I'd give it til then and cross my fingers. Feeling queasy but that's just the worry! I keep trying to tell myself I can feel period pains but I think I'm imagining it. Gaaaaaah Sad
