Anyone else waiting to TTC?

I thought we could keep each other company while we wait!

Your age/DH age: 29/39
Baby #: This will be #2
When are you TTC: I think we should start in June when DS is 2 but we are so broody it might be sooner
Why are you waiting: We are doing some house renovations at the moment & sorting out some stuff financially. Everything seems a bit up in the air & I can only stress about a couple of things at a time. I'm looking forward to life settling down only to have a newborn mess it all up again Grin
What are you doing to keep busy?: I'm project managing house renovations & enjoying one-on-one time with DS before he (hopefully) becomes a big brother. DH & I are having a huge joint birthday party in September for my 30th & his 40th so I'm enjoying planning that!

@Hofty don't worry! Dottydolly probably would have made more sense but I wasn't thinking when I named myself! Blush

My OH is 25, so only a couple of years older but we do socialise a lot more with his friends (he has a couple with children as well). Almost all of his friends are in relationships etc whereas mine are mostly single and still living at home. I sometimes daydream about baby things and realise I'm not listening. I keep thinking about how exciting that positive test will be!

It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Just had to tell OH how much I love him as I'm feeling all soppy.

Was it a 40 day wait for your first period? Your most recent 3 look quite regular! Are you planning to do ovulation tests or just enjoy it?

Thanks, I think I'm a bit scared in general as well, But I've wanted to make sure DP isn't pressurised too soon into having a child although he's aware he'll be doing it earlier than expected because of my age.

I've been told by GP I'd have to take a larger amount of folic acid three months prior to TTC and also whilst pregnant, waiting for specialist appointment, if there are any women who have experienced pregnancy with epilepsy it'd be great to know how it went Grin

@noseringGirl I am also a nose ring girl - great name! I haven't thought of temperature charting yet. Soon to be DH and I get married in mid September this year so we shall be chucking the condoms out from the 1st thank christ, horrible slippery bastards but not actively trying if you know what I mean. Just have normal sex at no specific times and see what happens.

If that hasn't worked by January 2019 then we'll actively try a bit harder. I suspect I'll give OPKs a go then @dottydally and possibly temperature charting. So that's quite a long term plan, really!

Sounds like you've got a good plan there! I get way too into all the data and the planning. Though with a wedding coming up, I imagine your planning hands are pretty full!

@Hofty don't even get me started on how much I hate condoms.. only been using them again for a few weeks and hating it already. All the more reason to just give it up and try for a baby now.

Also horrified at how expensive they are Angry

@tulip85 eek Friday is really close! The wait for our keys on completion day felt like the longest morning ever. Keeping my fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly. Thanks

@noseringGirl if I start tracking/temping I WILL get obsessed and there's still a way to go before we can start ttc so I'm trying to avoid that Grin plenty of time for that!

Baby: number 1
Likely to start trying in spring though may push back
Been waiting to try as visited zika zone and were told to wait 6 months
Throwing ourselves into the house also, tarting up a few bits in hope it will be done if we do get pregnant. May also have to push back a few months if start a new job!

Why are you waiting: A huge family holiday at the end of the year with DSC, have to be able to fly long haul!
What are you doing to keep busy?: Enjoying and running after baby#1 :) Trying to track my cycles. Came off the pill in Jan and havent had AF yet... I am hoping it all regulates soon.

dottydally thanks! ahh the wait is annoying isn't it...I've never been so keen to get AF haha!
We are heading to France/Italy/Croatia from Australia so it'll be a long trip! I'm very excited about that but I want baby #2 more than a holiday. We won't be able to afford it later + my stepdaughters will be too old so this is our only window to go.

Today I'm going to get my folic acid and vitamin c and some opk sets. My first baby was conceived in June so hoping this one is May straight away so that they dont share exactly the same birthday month haha

Sorry for starting a thread & disappearing! DS had a high temperature on Monday & 2 febrile convulsions so we've been to hospital & monitoring him closely at home. Never been so scared! But hopefully he's on the mend now. While in hospital I guess I felt guilty thinking about & planning TTC #2 when DS was so sick. I half convinced myself not to TTC again! Now the sleep deprivation is starting to lift & DS is more his cheeky self I hope I will be back planning TTC #2

@crazyforpiggies a hot tub sounds great! I have always wanted to have a big villa in centreparcs with a hot tub.

@Lilsquish I'm not doing much prep, just taking Folic Acid daily

@BusterBluth21 my DH is similar to yours - there's no way I'll be able to get him to take vitamins!

@ladybug92 I know, desperate to get into some kind of cycle. It sounds like a once in a lifetime trip (although I know it is tempting to try now). How late will they let you fly?

I've started on folic acid but not sure if I'm kidding myself as I know we aren't trying yet. The nurse recommended I start though so I am just doing as I am told. How old is #1? Old enough to be excited about the prospect of a brother or sister?

I'm feeling a bit weird today. Both me and OH have grandparents alive still (I know that is super lucky) and I know they would be so excited to be great grandparents. But I have just found out that my Nana has cancer. I know it's very early days and it's certainly not a death sentence but I just can't believe it Sad

Hope you're okay now MrsG, that must have been terrifying. Of course you can still go ahead with ttc #2.

Dotty, my mum had breast cancer late last year and is still recovering, so you have my love and empathy.
