TTC #1, Cycle 1. Anyone In?

Hi all,
Longtime lurker, occasional commenter, rare poster here.
DH and I decided to start to TTC after much deliberation recently.
I've been on the pill for 16 years and haven't had a natural period in that time! Had my withdrawal bleed which started on 15th Jan and think I may have ovulated on Thursday 2nd Feb. I was doing OPKs (I know - first cycle, but if I'm going to do it, I'm going all in!) and got an almost-positive then - didn't have any more OPKs with me to test slightly later in the day.
DTD numerous times in what I'm estimating is my fertile week (working on the basis that my cycle is 28 days but don't really know at the moment).
So now the waiting begins.
Anyone in the same position or want to join?
Advice and your stories welcomed!

Hey guys, sorry AF got people, got me yesterday too, right on time! Only good thing is the last two cycles have been identical in terms of length and symptoms and I knew that AF was coming both times. Hopefully means they’ve settled down and will remain predictable. Makes me wonder if I maybe didn’t ovulate on my first three cycles.
Roll on cycle 4/5 (bf was away for a fertile week so it sort of doesn’t count)
Really hope June is full of bfps.

just back from the docs after getting my uss results..
according to the results I have a retroverted uterus and I have “in access of 10 immature follicles which may suggest pco but the appearances weren’t convincing” I feel so upset 😭 but the doctor was saying she’s going to refer to gynae as they’ll be able to explain everything in more detail.

Oh @WaitingForThatBFP I'm so sorry to hear that. I know how absolutely helpless you must be feeling, especially when you don't feel that you have the full information.
Have they said when your next appointment will be?

@jemimafuddleduck doctor wanted DH’s sperm results to come through before she refers us.. but he’s been so busy with work he’s not been able to make an appt so it’s the first thing I’m getting him to do when he gets back today..

@WaitingForThatBFP still waiting for my referral letter for scan, hoping it'll be this week. DH has his blood test yesterday but needs to do his SA. The doctors didn't have a pot for him (!) so need to order one in 😕

@Pinkroseuk this may be a stupid question but what’s provera?

@WaitingForThatBFP I’m sorry to hear that, I hope the referral doesn’t take too long to be able to answer all the questions you must have. Did they give any indication of timescales?

This end I’m just waiting on AF to make her appearance. I’m on day 31 and have had on off cramps for the last couple of days but no sign of her yet. I caved and did a test this morning which was very much BFN, so at least I know now I guess. the ‘what if’ and ‘maybe’ thoughts were driving me crazy....including working out potential babies birthday / star sign / what the nursery would like look...I need to get a grip

@puravida31 Provera is a a tablet they have given me to take for 5 days each month to force my period- 15 months off the pill it's still not happening naturally :/ just waiting to see if it makes an appearance this week!
I too have been having thoughts for the last few days- just either with it was a positive or AF came so I knew where I was!

@jemimafuddleduck I think it may be a thing with the doctors never having the tubs in we had to wait a week for ours to get some ordered in for DH 🙊

@Puravida31 My doctor was really good and was like as soon as DH gets his SA results she’ll refer us straight away and we shouldn’t have to wait too long.. I just want to know what all this means so hoping it’s quick fx

How's everyone doing?

I've been trying to be a bit more zen this month and not obsess and talk about thing constantly (hence my relative quietness on here)

Since I'm still not certain about my cycles etc I've been temping and OPK-ing every morning and BDing every other day to try and cover the potential fertile windows for a 28, 32 or 35 day cycle.

Had that bloody flashing smiley for 8 days so far so hoping for the static smile soon!

Not certain I've had EWCM but there seems to be an increase in CM the past couple of days.

Hey, I’m on day 35 of cycle 1 and still no sign of AF appearing. I’ve taken 2 tests a few days apart and both were BFN so just feeling a bit frustrated with it all at the mo! I can’t believe I’m actually wanting AF to arrive, who would of thought!
Zen like sounds good, when cycle 2 finally starts I will give that a try! I’m considering trying OPKs, which one would you recommend?

@puravida31 are you the lady who's just came off the implant last month?

I had a "period" 35 days after stopping the mini-pill in November (had been on it for about 2 years, the mirena coil for 5.5 years before that and a good few years on the combined pills prior to that) and then had a 118 day cycle after that!

So don't worry if it takes a while for things to settle after stopping contraception.

Drove me insane but I'm thinking cycles are coming back to normal now - last one was 32 days but pretty sure we totally missed the fertile window cause we didn't have a clue what was going on!

I've been using the clear blue advanced dual-hormone OPKs (think they are reasonably popular although a bit pricey) but yet to see the elusive solid smiley for peak hormone - haven't tried any other ones. Only advice would be to collect your wee in a glamorous cup for testing as I've had the joy of accidentally widdling on the reader half asleep and had to start all over again with a new kit 🙈

What do you guys think?

@Unicorn234 that looks positive to me! Or almost positive - have you got a clear blue to test with now? If it’s like that I confirm it wth a clear blue... test again in the morning too but defs dtd!!

How do you get on with them?

Do they just test for the LH surge?

I'm considering buying some cause the Clearblue upkeep is expensive!

@sailorcherrie yeah they are just of Amazon but this is the darkest line I've ever had!
I bought a basal thermometer of Amazon and got loads of cheap pregnancy tests and ovulation tests with it

How does everyone get on with temping as well? I'm only on the 2nd cycle of temping and bought a better (I think) thermometer to use this month.

In CD17 and hoping this mornings dip is pre-O

DH is away for work overnight tonight but I pounced on the poor soul last night and plan to do the same tomorrow when he gets back.

@sailorcherrie yes that’s me, sounds like I need to be patient and give it time to settle itself down, but 118 days?! Yikes! I’d be going insane, but good to hear things are now settling for you. Best of luck on your pursuit of the solid smiley! I’m off to get myself a glamorous weeing cup...

Gave in and had a mini TTC tantrum/stress out this evening to DH (who is currently stuck in Bristol airport and won't be home till 1.30am!)

In a total strop I did another OPK tonight and low and behold!!! The elusive static smiley!!! 🎉🎉

So maybe I missed it completely last month being a 7am daily tester!

You'd think it was a proper BFP the way I just FaceTimed hubby 🤣

Aaah @sailorcherrie congrats on your static smiley! I know how exciting that is... even though it's not a bfp it's totally normal to be excited about it 😁

I now have a date for my scan - 4th June. Hopefully will get more answers then about my situation. We're still ttc but I've stopped using OPKs and being quite so regimented about it, I kinda feel like there's not much point at the moment (but don't want to completely stop ttc!)

Nothing to report here except I’m currently on CD76 😬😥 moods been slightly off the last couple days feeling emotional but no signs of ovulation or AF 🙄

I'm still here just nothing much to report.

I'm on holiday at the moment - stupidly took two tests with me 😓. Did one at what I think was 9 DPO but given that I don't temp and go only by ovulation tests I may be more/less DPO. BFN unsurprisingly. Then I did another yesterday (allegedly 12 DPO) BFN. However I used what I think is a rapid response so I'm still holding out hope that maybe there is a chance. AF due today and flying home tonight so hoping she doesn't arrive! Had a total meltdown to DH yesterday, negative tests really hit you in the feels! 😣

@Rmad6716 Yeah BFNs suck. Especially when you get them over and over again! 😩😩 Hope you've had a nice holiday anyway, been anywhere nice?

4DPO and it's already taking all my might not to turn into a symptom spotting crazy woman!

Definitely feel like this month was more organised and promising than last month!

Started using Fertility Friend this month and although the graphics are a bit 1980s I've found it so much more useful that the fancy/pretty Clue app! Still currently using Clue to track as well as I have about 2-3 years worth of data in it so it's better for predictions etc but loving Fertility Friend for the explanations of what I'm tracking so I feel less crazy-lady and more in sync with my body 🤪

@sailorcherrie I think I'm around 4dpo or could be longer because I think I ovulated before ovia said that I would. Trying my hardest not to symptom spot!!
