TTC #1, Cycle 1. Anyone In?

Hi all,
Longtime lurker, occasional commenter, rare poster here.
DH and I decided to start to TTC after much deliberation recently.
I've been on the pill for 16 years and haven't had a natural period in that time! Had my withdrawal bleed which started on 15th Jan and think I may have ovulated on Thursday 2nd Feb. I was doing OPKs (I know - first cycle, but if I'm going to do it, I'm going all in!) and got an almost-positive then - didn't have any more OPKs with me to test slightly later in the day.
DTD numerous times in what I'm estimating is my fertile week (working on the basis that my cycle is 28 days but don't really know at the moment).
So now the waiting begins.
Anyone in the same position or want to join?
Advice and your stories welcomed!

I have been using the cheap Amazon ones, the ones that came up as best seller. CM should apparently be the like the consistency of a Raw egg, the clear bit. Im using ovia app to try and work out my cycle over next few months.

OK so this thread could become WAY TMI - apologies in advance..

How do you check your CM? Do you put a finger in or check on a tissue...?

Unfortunately TTC is all about TMI really isn't it! OH was asking questions about how all this TTC stuff works tonight and wasn't impressed with my answers! I've just been checking a tissue, not been seeing any changes though. I did read somewhere that not all people have obvious changes and might need to use fingers. I seem to remember changes in mine (not that I knew what it was back then!) before I was on contraception but that was about 15years ago!

Thanks Jones!

Yeah my DH doesn't have a clue really. We DTD a couple of days after my withdrawal bleed and he said "Do you reckon you're pregnant yet?!". He's an intelligent guy but Hmm

Haha!! They don't really have a clue do they!!

TMI reply to some regarding CM, but using fingers is much more accurate as a tissue will already soak up some of what you're looking for. Egg white consistency indicated ovulation is close.

Thanks Melissa.
So are you all going to wait until AF is due/late to test or will you test earlier? If so when are you planning to test?
AF is due for me (assuming 28 cycle) on 12th Feb.

I will be waiting til AF is late (if it is late) although as this is my first month off the pill I am expecting my cycles to be all over the place so I'm.not sure when it is due. Ovia app is estimating 20th Feb based on 28 day cycles.

cjones1234 · 05/02/2018 14:42

Thanks Mellisa I'll try that from now on.
I'm going to do a test on the 24th if no AF before that we've decided. According to the glow app AF is due on the 14th but I'm not going to rely on that as I haven't had a full cycle since removal of my implant. I've seen a lot of people mention that they had really long cycles for a few months after removal.

I'm gonna test on feb 14th because I'm a romantic! First cycle post mc so I have no idea when to test!

Hi all, I’m in the same boat. Stopped mini pill Jan 3rd, withdrawal bleed and then 1st period 29th Jan so this week should be fertile week if my cycles go back to 28 days! Been on contraception for 8 years so no idea.
Have also never checked CMucus before, I’m assuming egg white cm is a bit like -excuse the TMI- the stuff you get when you’re ‘in the mood’?!

How exciting! I'm not sure when to test. I'm away with work for a week from this Friday (when I'd be 8 dpo) and don't get back until Saturday 17th. Won't be with my DH all of that time. I'll also be expected to be drinking whilst away (I usually do) and it'll be a bit odd if I'm not drinking. In a dilemma about whether to just continue as normal and if AF hasn't turned up by the time I get back, test then (bearing in mind I don't know my cycle) or to test while I'm away but not be with my DH if I get a BFP

Have no idea what to expect either, pretty sure that if my period doesn’t come then I’ll be testing on cycle day 28. Although maybe I should wait longer, it’s unlikely I’ll be lucky first cycle and might be more disappointing to get a BFN than just waiting for AF?

Hi all!
Hope I'm ok to join inSmile
I had my implant out on 30th jan after 9 Years (3 implants) and now TTC baby #1. Just started a light bleed today, so hoping it's my period getting back to normal, but scared after some of the stories where t took people ages to get back to normal cycle!
I'm already becoming a little obsessed with tracking my cycle and trying not to stress!!!
Looking forward to hearing everyone's stories and baby journey Smile

Hi sammielouise this is my first month ttc too and I'm also obsessed 😂 I've been tracking my cycle using the ovia app which is really good but my cycles were always irregular before I went onto the pill. However I can't wait to test next week to see if I've got my BFP

Ladies I need your advice I'm being impatient again lol but I'm meant to have my period on 15th Feb do you think I would get a bfp if I tested around the 11th or would that be too early?xx

jemimafuddleduck · 07/02/2018 00:26

Unicorn I think the early response tests you can do 4-5 days before your expected period? So you could test then

I'm getting impatient to! Plus lots of symptom spotting! Tired, Back ache etc. I'm going to force myself to wait and try not to get my hopes up but proving hard.

I'm going crazy as only on day 3 of my cycle, still AF, but just after implant removal.. really really hoping my cycle goes back to usual straight away and I ovulate on time, but I'm super impatient!! Sad

I'll admit it to you guys, I caved this morning and tested (despite knowing it would likely be a BFN!). It was BFN. I was just SO bloated yesterday. I'm not sure exactly how many dpo I am but I think between 7 and 11?!

@jemimafuddleduck understandable, I'm certainly having to force myself not too. Don't lose heart tho, as you said very early so doesn't necessarily mean that your out this month.

Hi all! I'm now on CD17 and starting the TWW! 🤞

This was my first cycle TTC and I used OPKs and got a positive late on CD14 and early morning on CD15. Tracked my temperature too this month and saw a rise on CD15 so I'm guessing I ovulated this day.

Bit of a personal question but can I ask on what days during your fertile week you DTD?

Good luck to you all this month
Xoxo
