TTC #1, Cycle 1. Anyone In?

Hi all,
Longtime lurker, occasional commenter, rare poster here.
DH and I decided to start to TTC after much deliberation recently.
I've been on the pill for 16 years and haven't had a natural period in that time! Had my withdrawal bleed which started on 15th Jan and think I may have ovulated on Thursday 2nd Feb. I was doing OPKs (I know - first cycle, but if I'm going to do it, I'm going all in!) and got an almost-positive then - didn't have any more OPKs with me to test slightly later in the day.
DTD numerous times in what I'm estimating is my fertile week (working on the basis that my cycle is 28 days but don't really know at the moment).
So now the waiting begins.
Anyone in the same position or want to join?
Advice and your stories welcomed!

Hey ladies strange question and I'm not sure it can happen but.... can you ovulate like 5 days after AF? had big blob of cm in knickers earlier was really sticky 🙈

@unicorn234 this may be the start of your ovulation? If you test you may not get a positive for a few days but I guess it can be it just depends how long your cycle is?
@jemimafuddleduck so sorry to read about what’s been going on with you. I’ve been lurking but quiet on here as we are now cycle number 11 and I recently had a HSG which had apparently cleared a mucous plug so fingers crossed that’s what was preventing any pregnancies... husband had his test a while ago and his was all fine so was really anxious for my tests 😬 still waiting for the actual consultant report from it though.
How is everybody else? Can’t believe how big this thread has got!

@rachellouise28 well since coming of the pill in January my cycles have been 36 days but the last cycle it was 33 days. So I finished my period 5 days ago.
Last cycle we dtd on my fertile window according to ovia but I obviously didn't catch and my period came early lol

@unicorn234 how many cycles have you been trying for? Keep at it and I have everything crossed for you! I’m using Flo as my app and it’s taken a while to be almost accurate but my cycles differ each month - usually between 28-35 days 🙄

@rachellouise28 ive been trying since the start of the year. I don't think I ovulate when ovia says i do but then I don't want to get into the ovulation strips as I don't want it to be regimented. I guess it will happen when it happens but I'm so impatient lol

We’ve just started TTC, however cycle 1 has now come to an end as unfortunately AF has arrived :( roll on cycle 2!

@jemimafuddleduck I'm 7dpo too (if I ovulated) and really trying to hold off taking a test till at least Sunday!

We were thinking of going to a baby show next weekend but think it might be too soon- depends what the test says this month I think!

I think I may currently be in the 2ww but can’t be sure as no idea what my cycles are like yet. I’m holding off buying tests, I think if I start testing there will be no stopping me! so for now I’m just going to try and wait to see if AF turns up at any point ...but then how long do I wait for? Maybe I just need to set a date that if no AF I can test but not before - don’t let me!

Well AF has b*ggered off now and just waiting to start the OPKs again!

Did all my date calculations to allow for a cycle length anywhere between 28-35 days.

Start OPKs on the 11th and plan to harass the husband every other day right through to the 27th.

Pretty sure we missed most of the window last month cause we were so confused with what my cycle length was going to be and fighting with the OPKs for the first time.

Also bought a good Braun digital thermometer (reduced on amazon) to replace the boots cheapy which thinks I have hypothermia most mornings (lowest reading has been an entertaining 35.5)

@pinkroseuk would love to go to a baby show but being really strict with myself. Not looking at clothes, prams, anything until I get a bfp!
@unicorn me too. Determined not to become obsessed, don’t want sex to become a chore or something I have to do, just having sex every 2-3 days at the moment which is just usual anyway. Only thing I’m doing different is taking my folic acid and vit D.

Having said that, I’m sure AF is on her way! Due Monday but I’ve been having crampy feelings on and off for about 24hrs. Hope it doesnt come early.

Well done @Mipha! We do have a drawer of little bits (mainly that a friend gave us when she moved house!)
Just got some pregnancy tests on the way home- so tempted to try one tomorrow morning but know that it probably won't show anything yet :/

I'm not even going to look at my ovia app this month as I don't think it's accurate for me.
Going to try and have sex every other day and try to push the 'ttc' to the back of my mind and hopefully this month it will work 🤞

That’s a good plan @Unicorn234 I think the Ovia app is adding another layer of pressure for me!

@puravida31 oh yeah I think it definitely does. I've dtd on the days I'm meant to be fertile and unless there's some underlying issues I haven't got pregnant.
Just going to go with the flow 😂 and see how long I last at it 🙈

Hi all. Sending you lots of baby dust for the next cycle. I've started spotting today so roll on cycle 7...! I went into this saying that it'd take a while but also secretly hoped it wouldn't.
My blood tests came back showing that I am ovulating, which is good, but I still need to go for my scan to check my ovarian reserve because my number came back so high.
DH is also being tested next week so we should know more soon.
I just want to be in possession of all of the facts. Feeling quite despondent at the moment 😢

@jemimafuddleduck I know how you feel, it sucks but don’t lose hope. Stay positive. Have they said anything to you about being referred yet? We waited 6 months from being referred from our GP to me getting my letter for an initial consultation at the hospital, I think it’s different all over the UK though?!

@Rachellouise28 they said I would get a letter within 2 weeks (it's been a week) with options of places I can go to then you book yourself. So until I get that letter I don't know how long it'll be!! But if it's 6 months I'll be going private!!

Hey guys I know this might sound a little silly and I've actually said this month I'm going to go with the flow but I'm keen to see whether I ovulate when I normally should. I've got enough ovulation strips to test lots of time so I'm going to start a few days before my fertile window. But say if I got a positive in the morning would I still be positive that same night. How long does it last?

@unicorn234 I think it’s 24 hours isn’t it?? I’ve tested in the morning and it’s been negative then later that day it’s been positive so test a few times a day when your CM starts to change :)

How many times a day would you suggest to test like just morning and night?

@unicorn234 I think so... I use the cheapy amazon ones until I get 2 lines and then I use the clear blue ones to confirm it x

And the second line has to be darker?

@unicorn I think the second line just has to match the control line.

@jemima, sorry AF arrived. Good news that you are ovulating though. Fingers crossed you get your scan appointment soon.

I am on CD16 and DP has gone on his conference this morning until friday. I normally ovulate around day 19 so thought I was out this month...but had loads of ewcm yesterday/today so I made sure we DTD twice yesterday! However IC OPKs aren't even close to being positive...soooo confusing!

Looks like I might be here for another cycle- took a test Sunday and was negative- AF due tomorrow though - still so irregular so will start more provera at end of the week if I get another negative test.
How is everyone else getting on?
