Thread 27. TTC #1 - we're stressed, we're fed up, we're bitter but I promise this will all be worth it when we're holding our precious babies

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Here's our Grad's Thread. May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Oh dear, I drink skimmed milk as trying to lose weight to help with things, always bloody something lol. I was going to buy ubiquinol, couldn't find it in h&b though. I can't give up coffee and alcohol either. I did for most of last year but I felt utterly miserable!

sk1pper · 04/04/2017 22:39

Ah thanks MrsBlue - I'm spotting too badly for it to be implantation though I think. sad times.

Pyjamas81 · 04/04/2017 22:45

I get my ubiquinol here chlo www.healthspan.co.uk/products/ubiquinol-100mg?sc_camp=672FEFC10CA148F394C94D2A70BFB73F&gclid=CPGx7Mvii9MCFdTNGwodeW0Btw

Expensive, especially as I take 300mg a day, but it was the only non-gelatine capsule version I could find! I'm vegetarian. I'm sure there are cheaper options!

Flashinthepan · 05/04/2017 07:27

Sorry about the spotting skipper it's such a depressing thing to know it's on its way and not be able to do anything about it. [Brew] eat lots of chocolate!

sk1pper · 05/04/2017 07:41

Sorry for TMI but large brown clots now and cramping. I feel like my body has even given up pretending I'm pregnant each cycle now. The last two cycles have been uneventful and boring, not even my boobs have hurt in the lead up to AF. Wish I could be one of the people getting a BFP this month, I am terrified of IVF...ughhh...

Pyjamas81 · 05/04/2017 08:09

Oh no skipper - am so sorry! I feel the same way - not one single symptom anymore. But then again, I've stopped looking for them, which probably has a lot to do with it. 💐💐 for you.

KerryLeanne84 · 05/04/2017 08:13

Oh Skipper massive hugs!

Londonjam · 05/04/2017 08:19

Chlo I saw a personal trainer in the run up to getting married and she got me onto full fat milk. She was extremely against anything 'low fat' eg milk, yoghurt, margarine, humous - anything like that really, said it was completely unhelpful, not good for you, would not help you lose weight. I went onto full fat and it hasn't made much difference (I would say any difference but I have become rather lazy over the last year so not exercising is making more difference). She did make us give up sugar and refined carbs though, which I've found harder to stick to, funnily enough...

Big unmumsnet hugs skipper I'm so sorry, take care with pain killers, heat and chocolate. We can hand hold through IVF if it comes to that. Geeup has just had her fertilised embryo transferred back and seems to be doing well over on the 18+ months thread.

It's our two year wedding anniversary today and I'm feeling good 😊 DH cooked me breakfast and we're settling into our new home. There's a lot I feel grateful for today.

Londonjam · 05/04/2017 08:20

Edited to specify low fat milk, low fat yoghurt, low fat humous etc etc were advised against!!

Plus life is too short to eat low fat humous

/humousobsessive

Flashinthepan · 05/04/2017 08:22

Skipper I am so sorry. Like Jam said, we'll be here whatever. It's ok to be scared.

Sounds lovely Jam. Happy anniversary to you!

Flashinthepan · 05/04/2017 08:23

Whoever came up with low fat cheese should also go and take a long hard look at themselves and think about what they've done.

Londonjam · 05/04/2017 08:26

So true flash 😅

Binkybunny13 · 05/04/2017 08:28

Skipper 💐 we are here for you

Flash- you are so right!

KerryLeanne84 · 05/04/2017 08:29

Wish I could give you a hug IRL Skipper. Jam is completely right - we will be here for you if you need IVF. I'm scared of it too but it works for so many people.

KerryLeanne84 · 05/04/2017 08:34

By the way thanks for all the advice everyone about things to throw at the next couple of cycles.

Re progesterone - you can get creams online - such as on amazon that can apparently help lengthen the LP. Here's an example - www.amazon.co.uk/d/Health-Personal-Care/Organic-Living-Pregnenolone-2-oz-57-g/B0014APKKK/ref=pd_sbs_14_t_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=D880RZEQ0QX90T716AY8&tag=mumsnetforum-21

I'm also considering trying vitex - a herb which apparently helps increase progesterone - natural-fertility-info.com/vitex

Jam - I haven't tried coquinol (sp!) but I did start having this which has CoQ10 added to it - www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/linwoods-milled-flaxseed-almonds-brazil-nuts-walnuts-q10-60086085

Flashinthepan · 05/04/2017 08:52

For anyone looking at trying various supplements, you could try contacting a herbalist/Chinese medicine practitioner. I've read that they can help put together a combination of vitamins/herbal supplements etc that will complement each other for the various stages of your cycle.

InspectorPenguin · 05/04/2017 08:57

Just popping on to say completely agree with Jam on the avoiding low-fat foods bit. It's a complete false economy and won't help with weight loss efforts - they are simply products made to line the pockets of grocery companies.

Most low fat foods are rammed with extra sugar, and have had all of their natural vitamins removed, which means the body can't do anything with them which then creates an increased feeling of hunger/dissatisfaction until you give it the fuel it needs - which often ends up being in the form of high sugar/refined carbs/trans fats.
Avoid!
(And drink gold top milk and eat full fat Greek yoghurt Grin)

I shall get off my soapbox now - I was a PT in the past so used to give this speech very regularly to anyone who would listen..!

InspectorPenguin · 05/04/2017 08:58

Sorry about heavy spotting Sk1pper, hope you have something to look forward to over the weekend?

And happy anniversary Jam!! Celebrating in your new home sounds just perfect; I hope you both have a wonderful day. Please open some Champagne later!

Binkybunny13 · 05/04/2017 09:10

Sorry jam don't know how I missed your anniversary bit- happy wedding anni! How right, so much to be grateful for, such a brilliantly positive way to look at the world 👍

sk1pper · 05/04/2017 09:10

Happy anniversary Jam!

Thanks guys, I more upset about this than I thought I'd be. Must be my hormones crashing. Just sat at work feeling inadequate, I swear if someone announces they're pregnant today I'll burst into tears.

Chlo22 · 05/04/2017 09:13

Sorry to hear that skipper. Have any of your friends had ivf? I know several people who have had it which makes it a bit less scary and kind of normalises for me if it comes to that. Hope you're ok.
jam happy anniversary, enjoy in your new home :) hope you have some nice plans today. I do know that anything low fat is bad for you really.. I should just stop drinking skimmed, it doesn't taste of anything! Just a bad habit I've got into and in my head I think it's low calorie, don't have the full fat stuff!
Thanks for the link pyjamas, I'm going to order some :)

Miranda234 · 05/04/2017 09:18

So sorry for AF kerry and sk1pper, thinking of you both Flowers

Happy anniversary jam! Hope you have a lovely day Smile

Flashinthepan · 05/04/2017 09:32

I think the big problem with things being labelled full fat, is that people come to believe they are literally full of fat. Whole milk is only around 3.5 per cent fat and Greek yoghurt is only around 10 per cent fat.

Skipper so sorry it's hitting you hard. Were you late and therefore more hopeful than normal, or just one of those days where it just all feels shit?

sk1pper · 05/04/2017 10:09

I dunno Flash - I can just feel a little bit of hope die each time.

My OH is broody but so much stronger than I am. Just keeps saying he'll love me no matter what and that we can adopt rather than go through IVF. I should be happy and grateful but feel like I'm letting him down still.

Flashinthepan · 05/04/2017 10:18

You are not letting anyone down. TTC is a process fraught with complications and disappointments for so many people, in so many ways. TTC for a long time is sad, and frustrating and desperate but there is still hope, through IVF, through adoption, and please don't ever forget that you may well get pregnant naturally, albeit not quickly, and I appreciate it's not very reassuring when it's taken so long.

Today you don't need to feel happy and grateful, you need to let yourself feel hopeless and sad, but don't blame yourself ever.

I have spent the whole year knowing that my body failed to move my pregnancy to the right place, and that my chances of conceiving are reduced as a result. But I don't feel to blame. It's too much pressure to assume that you can do or not do something that is stopping you from falling pregnant or will make you pregnant.
