Thread 27. TTC #1 - we're stressed, we're fed up, we're bitter but I promise this will all be worth it when we're holding our precious babies

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Here's our Grad's Thread. May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Yeah pretty much the same skipper - I'm getting the odd stitch-like twinge now and again and very very slight light headedness on occasion, but nothing to get hysterical about! I think it's because we've decided to push the ivf button if nothing happens by May - I just really feel like nothing will happen without some help. I've been reading a lot about it and mentally preparing myself!

kwick · 30/03/2017 08:11

Sorry have not been able to keep up... please tell me there have been BFPs a go-go?

Londonjam · 30/03/2017 08:19

Thanks Alexa it's par for the course second half of TWW for me to be in floods. Last night I got home crawled into bed and wept for a while. Felt better and watched Catastrophe to cheer up. Just need to get it all out! Hope you're enjoying family time

Kath you sound mentally busy hope you get a break soon

Think I'm 11 DPO today. Got all the usual stuff going on - sore breasts, moods swings, weepy, windy, lots of ovulation type twinges (happens every cycle wonder what this is?). Nothing out of the ordinary.

Londonjam · 30/03/2017 08:19

Kwick how are you?? Most recent grads are harriet and Miranda.

sk1pper · 30/03/2017 08:29

Pyjamas - yeah I know what you mean. People keep saying to me "it'll happen" - will they still be saying that when I get the 2 year mark? It probably will happen, but with IVF. It's so blasé for people to say "it'll happen" but I don't want to do iVF really, the drugs, the procedure, the time taken sitting in waiting rooms, getting to obscure hospitals without a car...really could do without all of this. A natural conception would be ideal.

Flashinthepan · 30/03/2017 10:06

I need to start HS but have hurt my back and am lazy, and DH keeps working til silly o'clock. Motivate me girls!

Everyone in the 2WW is sounding pretty zen, I'm using you all as inspiration, although sorry to hear about the weepyness Jam, but I agree it is better to get it out!

I think my metabolism has slowed. It seems desperate to hold onto every pound (I am not overweight, but have put on about half a stone in the last few months) and nothing seems to shift it. Is it age? Something to do with preparing for pregnancy? Bleurgh!

Londonjam · 30/03/2017 10:24

That's exactly how I feel skipper. It annoys me when people say It'll happen because chances are now it won't. But I don't relish the thought of doing IVF ! Thank god it exists but it sounds gruelling. And there's no guarantee of that working either.

Flash it sounds like your DH is going to have to do the hard work here!

Pyjamas81 · 30/03/2017 10:50

Yep - that's exactly how I'm feeling about ivf skipper. I'm definitely apprehensive, but I've sort of accepted that's the way it's going to go! Obviously hoping for the best until May, but preparing myself mentally for the alternative.

I've also put on weight flash! I was thinking that it was coming off birth control - but it's probably me just getting older and my metabolism is slowing down Confused

Flashinthepan · 30/03/2017 12:12

Perhaps if I like back and think of England while making encouraging noises, is that considered suitable participation? (I love a GOS but not when my back hurts!)

QuietTime · 30/03/2017 14:16

Maybe good enough in the circumstances, flash Grin

Ugh feeling a bit sad - new talk about 'difficult decisions' at work, found out yesterday that friend is pregnant (am really happy for her, and don't want to assume it was easy, but still a bit...sigh) and found out today that partner has to go abroad tomorrow (!) for a week for work (just gearing up to getting positive on opk...). I know I'm still early days & another month doesn't really matter, so don't want to moan too much, just venting really.

Good to hear all the chilled TWWs, fx for some good news soon!

macsworth · 30/03/2017 17:20

Sounds like a plan flash. Nothing a bit of paracetamol won't get you through! 😬

quiet you're allowed to vent all you like. I think wherever you are in TTC it can be hard to deal with. And it's always annoying to miss a fertile week and to be baby bombed 💐

I love catastrophe jam. It's one of my favourite things to watch at the moment.

I didn't test this morning for no other reason than I'm a massive chicken. I've decided to test on Sat if still no show. That way I can distract myself if it's a blankety blank.

Musicgrrl · 30/03/2017 17:24

Thank you Alexia Smile Hope staying with your parents gives you a zen like tww. I think of you and all the other ladies often even if I don't post on here much.

kwick · 30/03/2017 18:31

jam I am ok - crazy busy at work and very despondent with TTC. My FC have told me no more IVF - only donor eggs/embryos or IUI but NADA until I lose weight. Why this is now an issue makes me AngryAngryAngrybut I am a) trying to lose weight and b) looking at another clinic.

CONGRATULATIONS to @harrietm87 and @Miranda234 !!!! StarStarStar

Mrsbluebell17 · 30/03/2017 21:48

Hi everyone.
I've been sitting here quietly for a while so
I'm sorry for that. I'm the TWW now. Think I'm 7/8 dpo. Cd22. I'm going to a wedding reception on Saturday night and everyone will think it's odd if I don't join in the drinking. Don't know what to do. Had some well timed GOS around positive peak ovulation stick so in with as fair a chance as any good month but worried about drinking Saturday. Any advice?
Thinking of all those in the TWW and looking forward to some BFPs soon.

sk1pper · 30/03/2017 22:37

Implantation happens around 6-12 days after ovulation. I personally don't drink after 6dpo but you won't be passing nutrients to the embryo until well after implantation anyway so the choice is yours.

Can you not have non alcoholic beers or mocktails? Depends what's on offer I guess.

QuietTime · 30/03/2017 22:57

Thanks macs, appreciate the understanding

bluebell, I often nurse one for ages when trying to avoid drinking - have an excuse if someone's getting a round, and then get a soft drink when you want...

Kathrino · 30/03/2017 23:04

Bluebell, it's totally up to you. I'm happy drinking in the TWW myself as everything I've read says it's too early to have any impact.

Kwick, I'm sorry the FC are being such dicks now. The weight thing seems crazy to come up now. I hope you find a more helpful clinic. Are you looking to go abroad?

Macs, keeping everything crossed for Sat!

Flashinthepan · 30/03/2017 23:48

Just been baby bombed by best friend about our mutual close friend who is pregnant accidentally with a guy she's only been seeing for a few months, although he is a longtime friend of hers. Don't know how I feel. Trying to be Zen.

Mrsbluebell17 · 31/03/2017 06:43

Sorry to hear about the baby bombs flash. Hope you are ok.

Thanks everyone for your guidance. Think I'll try and do the whole 'it's gin and tonic' but just have tonic.

I barely slept last night due to ridiculous dreams/nightmares. Which never happens to me. Confused

Happy Friday everyone.

sk1pper · 31/03/2017 07:30

MrsBlue - ooh I hope that's a symptom!

Flash - sorry about your baby bomb, they are horrid. I had a "fake" one the other day, where a friend misinterpreted a message from another friend and told me they was expecting. I got really worked up about it because I knew that they hadn't been trying back in December (based on another obscure conversation I'd had with the friend directly). Anyway, turned out it was something completely different and I felt very sheepish about my reaction. But I couldn't help it. I hope you are okay xx

I finally had a symptom, sore nipples!! But only for an hour last night. FML 😂

Flashinthepan · 31/03/2017 08:15

Ah skipper, you never know it could be a good omen. When the nipples get involved, all bets are off!

And mrsbluebell FX for you.

Thanks ladies. I'm happy for them, they are pleased although it wasn't planned. I think its just hard because I keep getting to a place where I feel I'm making peace with things and then something else happens.

Macs can't believe you're holding out til tomorrow. FX for you.

Londonjam · 31/03/2017 10:04

A friend of mine at work has recently become pregnant at work quiet and I'm finding it tough. She told our manager yesterday and I sat there thinking this should have been me going through this. Not instead of her! But it should have happened to us by now

macs fx for you, hope AF stays away

Thanks for thinking of us music, glad all going well with you

kwick WTF - why the change in policy? Is the same clinic you were using before? Keep us posted with alternative clinics. As soon as we have some savings again I'm going overseas I reckon

bluebell I'm another TWW drinker. Not huge amounts, but there's no way after 16 months I'm giving up booze for two weeks a month.

flash sorry about your baby bomb lovely. My headspace app recommends seeing thoughts like clouds - just picture it floating past and away from you if the thought of it upsets you

Hurrah for sore nipples skipper!

I started getting crampy this morning in bed when I first woke up so I reckon AF will be here tomorrow.

macsworth · 31/03/2017 10:49

Cheering on your nipples skipper!

Another TWW drinker here bluebell. I don't over do it but don't stop myself. I've done it at a wedding and it's quite easy if you just drink slowly. Usually once people see you have one or two they won't think anything of it after that. I've found not giving up loads of stuff has helped me reach zen point by just getting on with life as normal.

No idea why I haven't tested yet flash! Never used to be able to hold out!

kwick, it seems so unfair that they've suddenly decided your weight is an issue. Where are you looking abroad? My sis in law and bro have their first baby due next week (4 years TTC) after going to Czech Republic. Sorry your FC is making the whole thing so much harder for you now.

Hoping your cramps are misleading jam

KerryLeanne84 · 31/03/2017 14:55

Sorry for all those who've had baby bombs dropped on them! I worry that anything anyone is going to tell me is going to be that - it's where my mind goes first every time! I shouldn't be relieved when it's not, but I am.

I have gone full on CRAZY ladies. 8dpiui and I swear I am a bit dizzy and sick feeling, and suddenly averse to the smell of perfume. Are these real symptoms or completely fabricated by my brain - who knows! 🤦

KerryLeanne84 · 31/03/2017 15:03

Also - for anyone else who's wee has gone a more lurid colour than usual - apparently that's a common side effect of having slightly too much b vits than your body knows what to do with!
