Thread 27. TTC #1 - we're stressed, we're fed up, we're bitter but I promise this will all be worth it when we're holding our precious babies

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Here's our Grad's Thread. May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Hey girls, sorry I've been MIA for a few days - I'm just trying to be a bit more casual about TTC at the moment but I've been reading along each day.

I have a problem and I didn't want to steamroller the thread with it, but I haven't got any replies on the conception board yet.

Basically, in the 18 months I've been trying I've nearly always ovulated on CD14 (which is today). The only times its been late is when I was ill and when I took a flight. I've been using the advanced opks this cycle but they are still displaying as low. I've even done a cheap strip this afternoon to confirm and its completely snowy white...no hint of a line or anything. But, bang on time, I've had my usual ovulation pain.

Now I've probably missed the surge on the cheapies (as that should have been last night/this morning) but the advanced opk definitely should have detected something over the last few days, I really don't get how it's still consistently "low". I've used the advanced ones for a few other cycles with no problems.

Any one got any clue what the hell is going on?

MissyJones80s · 22/03/2017 17:40

winging sorry you've had an emotional time. Maybe your doc is just super efficient and wants to get things moving for you...?

flash such a good thought about getting pregnant now in comparison to years ago, it's so true and there is prob no data on it to compare...

queen what's a retroverted uterus? Sorry AF arrived Flowers

kwik glad you got a seat but grrr to having to wait

In other news I'm still on off spotting hardly anything and sometimes nothing at all. 10dpo and on cd28. It's probably just a weird cycle but definitely not normal for me. I usually spot a little for a couple of days after period not before...

Londonjam · 22/03/2017 18:00

skipper that is puzzling - and must be very annoying. I take it you haven't been unwell?

What do you mean by advanced OPKs? How often have you tested?

Do long haul flights interfere with your cycle? I'm feeling paranoid now that two long haul flights might have disrupted my ovulation. I got my positive OPK on Saturday morning and flew overnight Saturday night. We HS on Saturday and Sunday... hope we are covered.

kwick · 22/03/2017 18:04

skipper opks are not 💯 % reliable (my FC checks bloods for me)... try not to stress, just carrying on obtaining as much magic potion as possible and believe it will happen for you.

I have a retroverted uterus which is very common and should not present any problems when TTC nor be cause of MC - as per what EPU told me.

My suitcase handle broke (failure to launch) so had to struggle to taxi carrying it and managing crutch and gammy leg. Just want today to end Sad

Kathrino · 22/03/2017 18:16

Sk1pper, I had all the usual symptoms of ovulation last month (inc cramps) but never got a surge on an OPK. Based on the delay in my period turning up and the fact for the first time in 20 years it was less than 7 days, I've concluded that I didn't actually ovulate which is a bugger but not much I can do about it.

Jam, Travel can definitely disrupt your cycle. I had about 6 months of flying back and forth to the US every week and barely had a period in that time. I would have thought if you had a positive OPK, you should be okay though as clearly your body was doing what it should do.

SmittenPears · 22/03/2017 18:20

kwick, so sorry, what a day!!

Flash, that is such a true observation. That's how I'm feeling right now, just frustrated that we waited until we were both comfortable with the idea of TTC, which of course is important, but means for me I'm ready to have a baby, like, yesterday. Whereas I'm sure DH would be glad if it did take another two years, sigh.

Queen0ffaff · 22/03/2017 18:35

I think it's about one in five of us who will have a retroverted uterus - just means it lies tilted towards the back of your body rather than the usual forward tilt... It has no impact on ability to conceive (and would right itself during pregnancy), but was told different positions might give us a better shot... Not that they can exactly prove that! I think I just like to have something new to try and do differently each month these days - gives me a vague illusion of some control over this whole process! Smile

KerryLeanne84 · 22/03/2017 18:40

Hi ladies, sorry for the lack of interaction over the last few days - I have been following along!

I've been going for daily scans at the hospital ahead of our IUI which I'm now having tomorrow morning. I have 2 big eggs so they warned me about the possibility of twins....I'm trying not to get my hopes up but it is quite exciting.

AlexiaB - you were right about the trigger shot - they do give one! I wasn't clear on the process but they gave it to me this morning.

Jam your friend is an inspiration. I'm not sure I could be that strong and positive. What an amazing person.

Kwick hope you get home soon - you can't have any more bad luck surely!

sk1pper · 22/03/2017 18:48

Jam - haven't been unwell, stress is minimal too. When I get stressed at work I itch my scalp raw and I've had none of that for about 3 weeks. I'm using the clearblue fertility monitor which shows you low, high then peak (theoretically). And yes changes in altitude can affect ovulation but it doesn't happen to everyone so don't freak out, I'm sure you've covered it even if it is the case.

Kath - did you get anything on an opk? A faint line or anything like that? I'm worried I'm having one of those non ovulatory cycles but it's the usual cramping in my side which is throwing me off.

Miranda234 · 22/03/2017 19:24

Aw kwick what an afternoon you've had! Hope you're having a relaxing evening at home

Sorry for AF queen Flowers

Best of luck tomorrow kerry Smile

Hope you work out what's happening soon sk1pper

I'm good thanks jam, have had mild cramping on and off today but hoping that's all normal. We told my parents last night which went really well Smile just want time to hurry up now so I know all is well!

kwick · 22/03/2017 20:15

kerry best of luck for IUI tomorrow!!

Not home yet - second night of trip, tonight Paris. Just want to get home.

Watching news about London attack - when will it end Sad

Londonjam · 22/03/2017 20:19

Kwick I hope you are installed on your sofa with socks and got chocolate by now

Kath I read earlier that crossing time zones can mess things up as it disrupts your circadian rhythm. We went directly south to Cape Town only crossing 2 time zones so I'm hoping that means it won't have interfered? Who knows. Bodies are mysterious. We weren't meant to travel at 30,000 feet in a tin can. Also hope work is alright you sound manic - hope you've got a relaxing weekend lined up

Smitten I think my DH would be okay with another year or two too. I'm sure once they get baby in arms they will be smitten

Great news Kerry

Ah that must have been lovely telling your folks Miranda
*
Skipper* you've got ovulation pain so presumably something's happening. Keep going with OPK and GOS and hopefully it will come

I can feel progesterone swinging into action ... very moody with DH this evening 😑

Londonjam · 22/03/2017 20:21

Kwick yes been in disbelief today watching the news unfold. Those poor families receiving bad news today 😔

sk1pper · 22/03/2017 21:26

Thanks girls, will stick to the plan as per your suggestion!

Yeah we were watching the news unfold at work, horrendous news for the families of those affected. I hate how terrorists are using vehicles to cause mayhem now, you can't prevent terror like that. They probably just wake up and decide to do it. Unplanned, unprovoked and completely aimless. It's just whoever is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sad

MissyJones80s · 22/03/2017 21:34

Feel awful for being so self focused when all this horrible stuff is going on in the world. Events of today make me realise not to take for granted the here and now, the ones we have to love and the ones who love us.

Flashinthepan · 22/03/2017 22:24

It is horrific isn't it. All the more reason to keep fighting to bring more babies into the world who are loved and will grow up to do wonderful things!

I hate hormones. Tonight I have nearly cried over the kitchen being too messy and because I dropped toothpaste on the bathroom floor. When will af appear! It's like where's bloody Wally over here!

Pyjamas81 · 22/03/2017 22:27

So awful what happened in London today, tragic and horribly unnerving 🙁

That is strange skipper - you could definitely have just missed it. My CB digi hardly ever picked up a surge in the morning.

Travel can affect cycle jam - mine was totally thrown when I went to the states for Christmas, but I think the time difference had more of an effect than the actual flight. And it doesn't happen to everyone!

It's GOS day today and I really can't be arsed - so tired and just want to sleep! DH still wants to give it a go, but I could not be less interested. Wish he'd come up to bed so we can just get it done and I can go to sleep! Jeez, that sounds terrible doesn't it. Have to be up at 6am tomorrow for PT session as well. Bah. Friday GOS is looking less and less likely...

Mrsbluebell17 · 22/03/2017 22:32

Hi all
Like missy I feel bad being wrapped up in me at the moment so I'm sorry and I hope you're all ok

Sk1pper that's odd re your OV tests although I've had it never show as positive on cheapies before to be honest. I didn't use them last month. Decided to again this month and got a dark line tonight and smiley on the CB one I tried after too - which is good but now I'm already stressing again about whether we've caught it etc. I just think whatever happens we can't win can we and we just stress about something?! Chin up - hope you're ok x

Flashinthepan · 23/03/2017 06:14

So af has arrived with a vengeance. I feel like my uterus is being ripped out. But that means thanks to b50 I had. 14 day lp and only 2/3 days of very light spotting! Roll on cycle 4.

kwick · 23/03/2017 07:30

Well said @MissyJones80s
We must "kiss the joy as it flies" (William Blake).

flash Flowers & Gin & Cake

sk1pper · 23/03/2017 07:45

Mrsblue - I think I could deal with it missing the LH surge, it just doesn't seem to have picked up my estrogen surge either. Low again this morning. Possibly a dud cycle Sad

Sorry about horrendous AF Flash, hope you've got some things to help alleviate the pain?

Oh and good luck for your IUI Kerry!

Flashinthepan · 23/03/2017 08:07

Thanks ladies. I have taken all the ibuprofen and paracetamol I'm allowed. But also have junk food, which is the best pain reliever, and may treat myself to some vino tonight!

Sorry about weird cycle skipper and that you're feeling low. Perhaps a good night to HS just for the hell of it and just have fun?

Londonjam · 23/03/2017 09:06

Sexy undies music candles lit pyjamas!

Flash WineCakeFlowersGin

That's a lovely quote kwick

Skipper it must be very frustrating, I hope there's time yet for it to come

HepKestrel · 23/03/2017 09:07

Flowers skipper and flash

QuietTime · 23/03/2017 12:03

Sorry flash, hope the pain eases Flowers

Good luck with those nice big eggs, Kerry :)

skipper hope cycle's back on track next month; I like flash's suggestion of a fun few days and see what happens...
