I think a little brown discharge is possibly also implantation isn’t it? So maybe not necessarily?

Been on the pill so long I have forgotten what it’s like ovulating. Got a weird fluttering feeling in lower abdomen. Like butterflies. Must be too early for a pregnancy sign but could this be ovulation?

Got flashy faces for 5 days from Boxing Day. Ran out before I got a static but dtd most days.

Cleozeta · 05/01/2018 07:31

I'm getting so fed up with false hope and 'symptoms' every month I end up feelimng stupid. This month I was plodding alomg quite happily expecting period around this saturday, no massive hopes, then yesteeday my body decicided to play a cunning trick and gave me a rocket high temp reading, making it look really positive on the chart, only to have it (obviously) come crashing down again today. So miffed. I need to stop charting after confirmed ov. Too stressful!

Alibaba - brown discharge could be a few things. What dpo are you?

Karigan - sounds like you covered all bases - fingers crossed!

Alibaba2 · 05/01/2018 10:04

I’m 13dpo and normally get it from 10/11do so it’s normal for me. Just don’t know if it means I’m out.

Karigan - I get all sorts of twinges. Have you got any opks?

Cleo - so annoying! I gave up temping all together.

Orchid222 · 05/01/2018 10:36

Alibaba-could be late implantation like Karigan said? Also, my accupuncturist recently told me that quite a few women bleed while pregnant. She knew a woman who got a BFP but then started bleeding went to gp who was quite dismissive because she was bleeding (and I think the pregnancy test at gp's was negative) but the woman insisted she was pregnant and she was and 9 months later had a baby so I wouldn't rule anything out with a bit of brownish discharge.

I'm definitely out for this month as AF arrived last night (again!). Really getting tired of this whole thing, we've been dtd at least every other day at the right time each month for 8 months and still nothing, I'm so disappointed I had a good cry last night. Have a gp appt tonight to get my blood results so will hopefully learn something useful. I figured if there is a problem even though the gp is going to refer us to a fertility clinic I will take a rather drastic (and expensive) step and fly for one day to see my ob-gyn. If he can examine me and maybe give me some wonder drug like clomid straight away I don't want to wait for months for a fertility clinic appt. I'm done with waiting and determined to do everything in my power to try and help myself get pregnant.

Alibaba2 · 05/01/2018 10:57

It’s hard to know whether it just takes longer at our age but will still happen or whether it’s never going to happen. I’ve had all the tests and everything is fine. Consultant last Jan said I’d be pg in 3 months! Still nothing! Are we just waiting for that magic egg?

Pretty sure I’m out this month - zero symptoms at 13dpo. Brown discharge is normal for me. Weirdly enough it first started when we started ttc.

Karigan1 · 05/01/2018 11:41

What is OPKs?

I don’t think it could be a pregnancy symptom as it must be too early but it’s really irritating me now. Had it all day yesterday. Woke me up at 4am with a big one and doing it all day so far today! It’s literally just a fluttery feeling like bubbles popping in the lower abdomen.

Dtd again last night anyway just in case it is ovulation. Got no idea when AF is due so may just get some cheap tests and test once a week until I get an answer one way or the other.

I think it does take longer when older :(. Good luck ladies!

Orchid222 · 05/01/2018 12:35

Karigan-opk is ovulation predictor kit.

Alibaba-that sucks! Great everything is ok but sucks that it's taking so long. Has your DH/DP had checks as well? I hope all's ok with me and DH and I refuse to think it won't happen but maybe a little help is needed. I have friends who took a long time getting pregnant with their firsts when in their early 30s and with their other children they were pregnant on first try when older so you never know. There's a nice post on the web somewhere about a woman having children at 41, 43 and 47 and her mantra was always I believe I can get pregnant...can't find it now but I'll send the link when I come across it. She said the last pregnancy took much longer but it still happened and they were all natural so we just need to believe and keep going, it's bound to happen sooner or later right?

JoJoyorker · 05/01/2018 13:23

I'm really cross with myself for getting obsessed and symptom spotting again this month. The last couple of months I knew it was unlikely anyway so it took the pressure off. The first month we tried I was convinced I was and it was such a disappointment when I wasn't. This month I'm fully obsessed with it again. Had 21 progesterone test on weds and it was 71 which is the highest it's been so I think we DTD at the right time but I'm 10 DPO now and symptom free so I'm sure I would have felt something by now if I was but I'm still obsessing and googling all the time. I'm sure we are all the same but I hate how obsessed I get with it.

JoJoyorker · 05/01/2018 13:35

Why do you get pregnancy tests that detect 6 days before AF due when implantation can be up to 12 days after ovulation? Surely every negative could end up being a positive if you test early? The month I was convinced i was I must have spent £50 on tests felt such a fool! I'm convinced to never test again until AF is late.

Karigan1 · 05/01/2018 15:05

Jojorker, well the progesterone seems good :). Maybe this will be your cycle.

Orchid, I only had a few left. I know progesterone was low beginning of December (3 weeks after stopping pill so as expected) so stopped checking thinking it was a waste of money. Over Christmas when a got sore boobs I used the last few and got flashing faces (clear blue advanced digital) each time. Ran out New Year’s Day on 5th stick still flashing. Haven’t purchased more yet as reckon last chance of ovulation happening is probably ten days from when it started so yesterday.

Was thinking I’d buy more if boobs go back to normal or AF happens.

Karigan1 · 05/01/2018 15:07

Sorry alibaba not orchid asked that question!

Orchid222 · 05/01/2018 16:15

JoJo- what did you use to test your progesterone?

Orchid222 · 05/01/2018 16:17

And I agree- a bit pointless doing pregnancy test that early because it can still change. If you look at the stats I think on clear blue it says they detect pregnancy in 65% of the cases 4 days before AF but it hoes up massively just a day later.

Alibaba2 · 05/01/2018 16:38

That’s a great result Jojo! I had it tested once at 7dpo and it was 30 something. Another cycle I tested on 9dpo and it was 50 something.

HappyHedgehog247 · 05/01/2018 20:54

JoJo that progestorone result is great! Mine was 36. Wonder if that means a bfp is on the way :)

minime2017 · 05/01/2018 21:48

Hi all. Still hanging about the board. Now about 10dpo though havent really been tracking over the holidays. We dtd often during suspected fertile week. I've had a myriad of symptoms but I'm chalking them up to the many I've had each month since ttc. Newest is a fleeting short but stabbing pain in the boob. Coupled with the full feeling in the uterus area and pinching in the ovary area you'd think I'd be getting excited...but no. So sure am I that it's another wasted month I've had a glass of wine with dinner. It really is a lottery!

Alibaba2 · 05/01/2018 22:02

I have ovary twinges from around 10dpo which my consolutant said was a sign of an active corpus luteum. But mine continues right up to AF. And today I had a tiny bit of stretchy mucus so I worry it’s my ovary waking up for the next cycle.

Good luck to you both in these last few days!

Cleozeta · 06/01/2018 11:45

Good luck to those waiting.

So today is cd1 for me, and I now have to make the decision of weather to skip soy this month. I've done 4 months of it now and have ovulated each time. I had said this would be the month to try without but am really nervous about it....

Karigan1 · 06/01/2018 12:04

Sorry to hear that Cleo. Fingers crossed for next time.

littlemimosa · 06/01/2018 12:11

Cleo sorry to hear af arrived. If it’s been working for you is there any reason to stop the soy? Or have a cycle off and then see what happens with a view to going back on it the cycle after?

Alibaba2 · 06/01/2018 12:55

Ditto Cleo - mine arrived too today. A day early. I’m also debating whether to do another soy cycle.

What are your reasons not to Cleo?

Did anyone see this article:

inews.co.uk/news/health/ivf-treatment-abroad-half-price-uk-nhs/

Cleozeta · 06/01/2018 18:39

I'm thinking of skipping just one month, for a couple of reasons. Firstly as I'd read somewhere that you should only do 3 cycles in a row (can't remember where I read that or why it said it) and the other reason is pure experimental to see what my body naturally does now. I'm hoping the soy cycles I have already done have reset my pattern and I'm now able to ovulate alone. Very nervous that if that's not the case I'll end up in a mega long annovulatory cycle, which I don't really want to waste time with. It's risky. But I think I should probably do it.

Sorry AF came for you too alibaba

HappyHedgehog247 · 06/01/2018 20:49

Sorry things didn't work out this month Cleo and Alibaba. I hope it all goes ok taking a month off soy. I'm on CD3 and going to start trying from CD9 this month based on new data from BBT.

littlemimosa · 06/01/2018 22:24

Cleo that sounds like a solid plan.

Ali just read the article. Doesn’t surprise me. It’s big business fertility treatment. Would you consider ivf?
We would draw the line at ivf for a third. Wouldn’t have hesitated for number 1 or 2 but not now.

Orchid222 · 06/01/2018 23:09

Sorry Cleo and Alibaba about AF. Hopefully there'll be a bfp for someone soon.

I had my blood results, everything is perfectly normal, progesterone at 91 and I know we dtd at the right time so it's frustrating that it hasn't happened yet. I guess it is the age thing.

Interesting article Ali but like Little said not surprising. My gp told me last night (without me asking) that I wouldn't get ivf on nhs because I'm over 40 and already have a child. I told her that if it came to that I'd definitely go back home because because I was certain it was less expensive and this article just confirms what I already suspected. But hopefully we won't need to go that route at all.
