Hi everyone, okay if I join in? I've been ttc #1 for over a year now and turned 40 a few months ago. Not a sniff of a bfp in the time we've been ttc.

Cycles are always 26-28 days and have been aware for the last while that I was ovulating around days 10-12. Confirmed this with opk's but I was pretty certain i was ovulating then anyway. I was worried that I was ovulating very early so visited GP and have been having acupuncture since July. Day 21 progesterone was absolutely fine and we're waiting for my partner to have sperm analysis done.
However, this month has been really weird and I was wondering if anyone has any advice or something similar happen to them. I had been using clear blue dual hormone OPK's since day 8 and had negatives up until day 16 which was strange for me. I've been ovulating pretty regularly (albeit early) for as long as I can remember. Finally got a flashing smiley on Sat and up until yesterday so 4 days of flashing smilies with no peak. Then yesterday, I had cramping and a headache and some nausea and what seems to be my period started - on day 19! I've never had mid cycle bleeding before and period never started before day 26. Apologies for tmi but it's quite stringy and mostly brown/dark red. More than spotting though and still have mild cramps. I have no idea what's going on! I wondered if it could be implantation bleeding which is a very very slight possibility but then according to this OPK's, I haven't ovulated this month and it would have to have been around day 10 which is when I was getting negative OPK results!
I'm not sure whether to see the GP or whether they'll just dismiss it as a weird af due to my age, although this is very unusual for me. Or is it the acupuncture messing things up? Anyone any advice?

Cleozeta · 06/09/2017 14:40

Could just be an off month? Although flashing smiley must be a sign of something as if no ovulation you wouln't get that far? Maybe wait and see if it turns into af or goes on it's own. Could be ovulation bleeding (apparently thats a thing), see where it goes and then maybe see doc if it still makes no sense in a few days.
Sometimes we may just have off months then next one back to normal

toooldforthisshizzle · 06/09/2017 21:40

Husband and I keep having these conversations about ttc#3 - dc 1 & 2 are now 6 & 7 and were conceived without problems but both pregnancies and births were very difficult - but my age is making me hesitant as I think we're just setting ourselves up for failure as I am now (just!) 44. Do we really need to start doing charts and everything I keep reading about or just go for it? I just don't know where to start - other than getting coil removed which my iron levels will thank me for no doubt! Sorry for rambling but I don't think anyone I know irl would take me seriously talking about this.

Hello all.

I'm sorry I fell off the thread - busy summer and I felt I needed to stay away from ttc things.

I'm cautious pregnant it seems - af due Tuesday but I'd tested the previous week as I'd had a re occurring uti. Saw ooh who confirmed both (!). Lines are so far darkening quickly and I've noticed the same symptoms I had with my son over 5 years ago, so fingers crossed it sticks.

I did follow it starts with the egg: ubiquinol (started 4 months ago, though often didn't take the week before af just incase) and extra folate ontop of normal folic acid. (Also eve prim up to ov).

Cautious as I've had a mc and certainly 1 maybe 2 cps since Jan. Also, the gauntlet of tests etc - I simply can't see it being straight forward.

I'll catch up on thread now.

Ekphrasis · 07/09/2017 15:40

Hi blooming - I'm not sure, rather odd! I get the odd crazy cycle.

I did wonder about ov - I often ovulate around day 10-12, sometimes 13. My first cp it was day 9.

This time it was day 11 - is this bad?

I read somewhere 11 is ok?

Clara101 · 10/09/2017 18:34

Hi Ek, wonderful news!!! How are you feeling?

I've been told that ov cd10 onwards is fine. So don't worry and hopefully everything will work out just fineSmile

Cleozeta · 11/09/2017 18:27

Great news Ek! Hope it all goes well :-)

Af started today so going to start taking soy isoflavones from tomorrow to hopefully bring on ovulation. No idea if it'll work or not but worth a try!

Ekphrasis · 11/09/2017 21:51

Thanks Clara. I'm up and down symptom wise (hence a lot of googling) and was struggling at first now going to embrace it till I notice otherwise. Think I've read enough about nausea being inconsistent to feel fairly ok. I had a terrible day of exhaustion and sickness yesterday; today loads better. But boobs hurting much more. Fingers crossed!

Fingers crossed for all of you too. Cleo, I'd read about soy too. I think I was starting to formulate the next step of what I might try before I found out. Hope it helps!

minime2017 · 11/09/2017 22:24

Cleo I've my days 3-7 of soy taken. Now on CD 10 which is when I normally get a positive opk. V faint today. Last cycle it was cd11 so hoping I get to 11/12 maybe later to give the eggie the best chance of being ready. Feeling hopeful

Cleozeta · 12/09/2017 11:12

Good luck minime! Hope the soy works for you.
I decided to try starting on cd2 as I figured jumping in there quickly before body goes off on a weird tangent again might be worth a try.
Fingers crossed it will at least regulate things!

minime2017 · 13/09/2017 18:12

I'm now CD13 and no positive opk yet which is both worrying but hopeful. Worrying in that I'm now afraid i won't but hopeful in that if it does then it's the latest it'll have been since before Christmas. Have had some aches and twinges, and my cm is only really starting now so we'll see what happens by the weekend. Dtd every other day until end of my cycle as a safety net lol.

Cleozeta · 13/09/2017 18:29

Sounds hopeful minime! When I was not ovulating my opk's were always very blank, not even a faint whiff of a line, so sounds like yours may be imminent. Fingers crossed

minime2017 · 16/09/2017 11:05

Now CD 15 and had a blazingingly positive opk so seems the soy/ royal jelly combination has delayed ovulation-thats a good start. Had a few more twinges than usual and a more cm as this positive opk approached so no real adverse effects to taking the extra supplements. A few more dtds and then we wait it out 😊

Cleozeta · 16/09/2017 15:24

Sounds promising. Good luck!
I'm on cd6 now so last day of soy. Still quite heavy af though so not looking good on that front. Just really hope it stops this time

Alibaba2 · 17/09/2017 21:47

Congrats Ek! How are you feeling?

Minime, did you take the soy/RJ to delay ov? Last cycle I felt ov on cd 9/10 and yesterday on cd9 I felt twinges so really hope it's not another early ov. I'm interested in hearing more about these supplements!

minime2017 · 17/09/2017 22:51

Hi Ali. Delaying ovulation and lengthening cycle were the main reasons I've take soy this cycle and it seems to have done that. Have been getting positive opks on CD 10-12 for over 6 months and this month it was considerably later (cd14/15). No side effects. Hoping this means egg will be more mature and being later should give it best possible chance of implanting too if we managed to catch it. Into the 2ww now so time will tell.

Alibaba2 · 19/09/2017 22:36

Good luck Minime! What dose and brand do you take?

I've read it's nature's Clomid (so for inducing ovulation). But that's not why you take it?

minime2017 · 21/09/2017 18:29

I've just tried the Tesco own brand soy. I'm about 5/6 dpo now and am experiencing a breakout that a teenager would be proud of. Desperately trying not to symptom spot.

weasledee · 21/09/2017 18:55

Going to start testing tomorrow, not sure exactly how many dpo I am as this cycle is after miscarriage...
Excited and nervous :)

Ekphrasis · 21/09/2017 20:16

Hi, still lurking!
Fingers crossed wease and also for everyone else.

I'm 6 weeks and finding worry tough. Nausea has faded a bit which has worried me though boobs are still hurting.

Looking forward for some good news soon!

Clara101 · 22/09/2017 07:34

Good luck Ek, hope the next 6 weeks can whizz by for you so you can relax.

Interesting on soy mini, I didn't know that.

I'm in bed with some bug so no chance this month. I'm 45 in Nov so increasingly thinking my time for a third is past and I shd just count my blessings. But it's not easy.. some times more accepting of this than others.

minime2017 · 22/09/2017 17:39

I eagerly counting down the days til next Friday. Have had twinges and creamy cm for 2 days but I think that might be normal in my cycle. Nothing else to report symptom wise. Not depriving myself of goodies like coffee and choc. Kinda fed up putting life on hold each month. What will be will be (though still secretly hoping for good things)

weasledee · 24/09/2017 17:47

So I did a test yesterday! First cycle after miscarriage, feel very lucky :)
Who said age is always a factor!!!?
Good luck everyone ttc
