@Ekphrasis what did you decide about the baby aspirin? I'm taking pregnacare, conenzyme q10 and have considered the aspirin too. We've been trying a while, had a chemical at NY so hoped we'd fall again quickly. It's not happened yet so we've agreed to go to the Drs (I'm dreading that!)

PhoenixMama · 02/06/2017 21:12

Don't dread it Minime - I found having info really empowering in a way. Good luck!

StepAwayFromGoogle · 04/06/2017 21:27

Hi girls, can I tentatively join please? I say tentatively because we aren't actively ttc at the moment while I wait for my appointment and tests at the recurrent miscarriage clinic in Coventry (3 early miscarriages in the last 9 months).
I just wanted to say that a consultant I saw a few weeks ago advised baby aspirin once a day when we start trying again. He said it won't do any harm but it has been shown to help in recurrent miscarriage. I'd read some mixed opinions online but I'm absolutely sure they wouldn't advise it it they thought it was a risk at all x

StepAwayFromGoogle · 04/06/2017 21:29

Oops, sorry for the x. Can't seem to post anything online that I haven't written like a text Blush

Ekphrasis · 04/06/2017 22:44

Hi I've been away, which has been relaxing, probably a good thing!

Welcome cabin and step, I hope things work quickly and you're not here too long!

Good luck at the drs mini. I've been undecided about the aspirin. I've taken a couple this cycle. Thanks for the info step. I guess it's the few bits you read about it interfering with implantation but I've only seen that as anecdotal. I'd decided to if I got a bfp. I think the reasons against doing it all the time are as it can be a risk to your stomach. I'm only taking it after yoghurt if I do take it.

A gp friend said a fertility dr would say to take it all the time. I was asking him about taking it for possible low birth weight which our son had and we'd been told to do but I hadn't got confirmation via my gp during bf the last pregnancy. There's definite nice guidance for this; must be taken before 16 weeks.

Ekphrasis · 10/06/2017 08:29

Hello all, how is everyone today?

Have woken up feeling rather achey and crap. 5 dpo. I'm getting twitchy to test (ridiculous!) but also feel like I just want to sleep and can't be bothered.

I just wondered regarding co q10; do you stop when bfp or before - i.e. At ovulation?

Ive decided to take aspirin, but I must say i don't remember every day in practice.

It's peeing it down here. I'm trying to force myself to go for a run!

StepAwayFromGoogle · 10/06/2017 21:30

Morning @Ekphrasis - in fact that should be evening now.

From the research I did you should stop taking Q10 as soon as you get a BFP. I'm actually on ubiquinol because I'm 40 now and, apparently, the older you get, the harder it is for the body to absorb Q10? Ubiquinol is meant to be a more absorbable form but I'm not sure how true that really is. I'm just covering all bases.

We're still on a ttc hiatus while I have my appointment at the recurrent miscarriage clinic on Friday. Been feeling quite positive because at least I'm getting tested for everything now.

I know well the urge to check before the end of the tww! I used to spend most of that time poking my boobs. Stupid thing was that they always felt tender. Probably because I was poking them so much. Has actually been a relief to have two months off doing that.

Hope everyone else is well, enjoying dtd or looking forward to a positive test Smile x

StepAwayFromGoogle · 10/06/2017 21:33

Have just realised that on a 40+ thread, probably not necessary to say I've turned 40. I've got no excuse, I'm just a bit thick sometimes... Blush

Ekphrasis · 10/06/2017 22:56

It's your age luv Wink

I turned 40 this year. I'm on ubiquinol and I think I've benefitted from the energy side of things. I guess I just wondered if you should stop at ov if ttc just in case? Everywhere says bfp though. I think you build a store of it anyway.

I hope your appointment goes well. It's actually nice to have an enforced break. We did as we decided to give the ubiquinol and vitamins a couple of months to kick in. I do think it helps.

Yep I'm symptom spotting and have sore boobs from prodding.

StepAwayFromGoogle · 11/06/2017 21:04

@Ekphrasis, that made me laugh out loud. Or LOL if you're down with the kids. Which I think we've established I am not.

Thanks for good luck for the appointment. I'm hopeful. Have also been cramming in the vitamins in case they help.

Will keep my fingers and toes crossed for your tww x

Flashinthepan · 12/06/2017 10:25

Sorry to butt in ladies but I'm hoping to get your advice. My brother and his wife are TTC, he is 35, she is 40, and I was wondering if you could recommend any books/fertility diets for men and women TTC where age is more of a factor.

Thanks for your help!

StepAwayFromGoogle · 12/06/2017 21:37

@Flash, I haven't tried any myself but a few people here have tried and recommended ' It starts with the egg'. I did have a look at it and it scared the bejesus out of me but it's pretty comprehensive. Not sure if it covers male fertility though.

Ekphrasis · 12/06/2017 21:41

Lol step!

Yes Flash, that's what I'd recommend. It does cover the male side too, pretty much the same as the women but explains with studies etc. She makes the point that taking supplements/ changing lifestyle really takes 3 months to have an effect for both the bloke and the woman.

The tip I've taken that wasn't in it was to take epo till ovulation as increases ewcm. I did notice a big difference.

There's also 'taking charge of your fertility' but I don't know much - I think it starts with the egg is the best for older couples.

cabininthewoods2016 · 15/06/2017 05:59

Thats me out this month. AF turned up on cd30 so that is full cycle since stopping pill.
Good luck and baby dust to all this monthh xx

Ekphrasis · 15/06/2017 20:14

Sorry cabin. I'm 10dpo. Finding it hard as my last preg I got a positive at 9dpo (mc). Nada so far. So silly but so hopeful! First ttc since mc so feeling a bit flat it's not worked out. (Yet! But doubtful it will).

Onwards and upwards!

Ekphrasis · 18/06/2017 09:26

So. I tested yesterday and today with a frer. Very faint lines, today's a tad clearer. Still early days - I'd feel more excited but it's later than I've ever had a bfp before. Still only 13 dpo though.

I suppose implantation happens at different times?

Flashinthepan · 18/06/2017 10:14

Thanks for the recommendations! And congratulations Ekphrasis.

StepAwayFromGoogle · 18/06/2017 12:06

Wow! Congratulations Ekphrasis! That's a brilliant result first month of ttc again. Maybe the ubiquinol and epo worked then? Fantastic x

StepAwayFromGoogle · 18/06/2017 12:09

Oh, and I'm sure that implantation does happen at different times. This making babies is a funny old business... x

Congrats Ekphrasis! We needed a BFP on the thread. It's been a while Smile

Ekphrasis · 19/06/2017 17:02

Thanks ali! I need to step away from Google myself though as to me the lines aren't getting much darker. Trying to reassure myself! I'd had much darker by now and noticeably darker over a few days; though I suppose the last one ended in mc so means nothing!

Ekphrasis · 19/06/2017 17:14

Actually, following speedy 25th google, google is helpful in this situation!

Alibaba2 · 19/06/2017 21:28

Don't test any more Ekphrasis. You're pregnant and it will only stress you out. Someone on another thread had the same thing and thought the lines weren't getting darker but all was fine. Good luck!

Ekphrasis · 19/06/2017 22:03

Thanks Ali. Good to hear! Anxiety / obsession has been through The roof and I just don't want that. Busy three days at work so I'll see again on Friday. :)
