Was it the CB dual hormone kit you used on Sat night? Is that the one you're supposed to use FMU on?

I don't exactly know how they work but maybe it catches the peak before it happens?

I used to get a Peak in the morning and then a positive opk later that day or evening. I know when I ov as I feel it. I sometimes ov on the same day as the peak, sometimes the day after.

What is the difference between the test you did on Sat evening and the one on Sunday?

Did the clinic scan you before Monday and could they say when ov happened from Monday's scan?

PhoenixMama · 17/05/2017 15:09

They couldn't tell me when I'd ov'd sadly - egg was def out of the ovaries.

So the Sat night test was a dual hormone purple one and then the Sunday morning one was the pink one.

I've heard the pink are more accurate (I basically heard this on Friday before I left!) but I've used the dual hormone ones more.

I can tell that I'm ovulating as I get cramping but I can't feel the exact moment, and lets be honest, I was probably sleeping when it happened!

Alibaba2 · 17/05/2017 15:20

I don't know if this means anything but I have a recollection of reading on the CB dual hormone instructions that you might get a false positive if you don't use FMU.

Does anyone else know anything about this?

Alibaba2 · 17/05/2017 17:02

I guess this relates more to the oestrogen readings rather than the LH:

  1. What if I missed testing with the first urine after my longest sleep? You should test as soon as you can but avoid drinking a large amount of liquid beforehand. If you do not use the first urine after your longest sleep you may see unexpected High Fertility results so it is important that you remember to use the first urine after your longest sleep.

That's really really helpful- thanks Ali!

40+ ttc: bring on the bfp's!
PhoenixMama · 18/05/2017 08:49

Def can catch with days either side! Good luck! What cycle are you?

Pixie106 · 18/05/2017 08:53

It's now cd 16. AF due 30th May

PhoenixMama · 18/05/2017 10:24

Oooh good luck!

Pixie106 · 19/05/2017 09:15

Back to negative, as line is more faint. Thought the surge lasted longer than that tho. Only about 18-24 hours.
Does this mean I will still ovulate? And how long after a surge does the egg get released?

Ekphrasis · 19/05/2017 09:27

I know the only surge I caught was less than 24 hours, maybe even less than 12. I puzzled over the how long question - I think I answered that I'm myself via temping. It could be up to 72 hours after the first surge, and it can take a few hours for the surge to show in your urine.

But really it's having the sperm there before the egg comes so dtd on the surge day, before if you can and the day or two after. If speed can last around 5 days, you're ok if covered before the surge or on the surge day.

After I pondered a lot of this so my head hurt I realised it's just best to try before est fertile day, during and after as they say! or you go loopy

Ekphrasis · 19/05/2017 09:28

Sperm not speed!

PhoenixMama · 19/05/2017 09:47

So you ovulate 12 - 36 hours after the surge reading (partly depending on your body and partly depending on when you caught your surge) and then the egg lives for 12 - 24 hours. Sperm lives up to 72 hours. So in an ideal world you'll have sperm waiting for the egg but it also takes the sperm a while to get there... so Ekphrasis' advice is great!

Ekphrasis · 19/05/2017 13:37

I'm glad your maths is good Phoenix, I still can't really work it out properly!

I just stick to the 'as much as possible from day 10 to day 15' sort of thing (both times I've had a surge on day 11). Or every other day from day 9 or 10 till 15.

PhoenixMama · 19/05/2017 14:06

Ekphrasis Thats cuz I don't have a partner to dtd with lol! I need to be specific when I iui!

Pixie106 · 19/05/2017 17:02

Thanks ladies. Surge was CD 16, dtd day 15. Planning tonight day 17. Should have it covered then! Normally try every other day 10-15 but this has thrown me as it's really late ovulation for me! Hubby will be knackered by the end of it! And I'm running out of seduction ideas! 😂😂😂

PhoenixMama · 19/05/2017 17:17

Good luck! I seem to have come down with an awful cold which I'm sure is just going to make the tww go more slowly...

shortcake76 · 19/05/2017 17:27

How long have you ladies all been trying? Apols if already asked, but new to this. We've been trying since last July :-( Difficult when others around you are falling really quickly, but then they're in their late 20s.

PhoenixMama · 19/05/2017 17:47

I've just had my first iui. I have a 7 year old DD but am trying for this one using donor sperm. Don't get a chance to "try" as often as you coupled folk lol!

Pixie106 · 19/05/2017 18:22

I was trying for 9 years before I fell with my youngest who is 22 months. Couldn't afford IVF, so had tests, all clear so just kept going with hope. He came along three months after a MMC at 9 weeks. Then outta the blue, fell pregnant in January this year. MC at 8 weeks. Fell again in March ( straight away) but MC at 5 weeks. Now trying again.....last chance saloon I feel as hubby says he's too old (at 46!!!!).
As others will know from previous threads, I've got three children but have had 9 mc's. gotta keep trying, that's my theory! 😁

Ekphrasis · 19/05/2017 18:40

It's not picking up pregnancy is it pixie ( with the cold etc?! )

One of my early preg symptoms!

Ekphrasis · 19/05/2017 18:41

Ah sorry Phoenix, I must have missed that. Yes you meds to know your dates in that case! Good luck!

Ekphrasis · 19/05/2017 18:43

Shortcake, we started around xmas. I fell pregnant on the 2nd cycle of properly trying but mc at 8 weeks, 6 weeks ago now. I will say it was / is a military operation of temping, charting and timing! I'm 40.

Pixie106 · 20/05/2017 08:02

It's Phoenix who has the cold! I did think about pregnancy but still would be too early. Did a sensitive test couple of days ago and negative.

Ekphrasis · 20/05/2017 08:19

Oops sorry, that's tired posting!
