hi again all, Ive been following but not posting as had a bolt out of the blue for DH re our fertility treatment. Having discussed and planned that we would contact out local FC for having IUI with donor sperm (we know that is the only option for us) DH went quiet on the matter and sensing something amiss I raised it with him. He is saying that he wants us to have chn together and knows it will make me happy, but that he isn't 100% comfortable with the whole 'it wouldn't be his baby I'm carrying but another man's' situation and is concerned that we will have a baby he is unable to relate to/bond with and it causing issues for our marriage and for the baby. I am feeling devestated at this. I don't think he has dealt with the 'guilt' of us not being able to have OUR baby together. He is interested in trying to find out more info/counselling etc to see if he can overcome these feelings, but neither of us know where to start tbh. I am doubtful these feelings can be overcome but am willing to invest some time and energy into dealing with them if possible. Does anyone have any words of wisdom for us or ideas about where/who may be able to help? TIA x

Hi Char, I think it's normal he has concerns. Using donor sperm has a lot of implications and he probably just needs to think these through. I'm sure a counselling session will help greatly. It will still be HIS baby 100%, he might not see it clearly now and need a bit more time.
Have you looked at the DCN website? I haven't looked at those particular sessions as doing it solo but I'm pretty sure they have a lot of info on similar situations.

I have my CD7 scan at 12:40 and my opks are getting darker! I'm starting to think the progesterone messed up with my cycle and it actually started it 4 days earlier than I thought, on the day AF was due. Will know more later!

Hi char I'm so sorry to hear this my lovely! You must be devastated! CARE have a counsellor who you may be able to book into as she can discuss about implications of using donors etc and your partner maybe able to address some of his feelings and she may be able to point u in right direction of where to go next.

pez how confusing but glad things are heading in right direction!

I have had no emails from my clinic! My head is spinning! Don't really want to wait till tomorrow to order donor but don't want to make decision without info! I've got a meeting soon which finishes at 4 so hopefully I can get the info and still have it sorted today!!!!! Fingers crossed

Oh Char that's difficult. Is there anything on the donor conception network (or similar) that could help?

OMG, I DO know my body, I am about to ovulate and I'm only on day 7!! You're not going to believe it but I have 3 follies of 27,26, and 26, all on one side!!!! Last month I only grew one to 23.7 and that was on day 13. What's going on with my body?? I'm not on ANY meds so I'm startled. There are a lot of twins in my family so now I know how this happened...

They did a blood test for the LH surge (at the small cost of £105 ) and I'm doing opks in the meantime. They said to take a trigger on Wednesday night if i haven't ovulated by then but I don't know how my body is going to wait for so long!

I'm now panicking I'm going to miss the surge but ecstatic I have 3 targets for the magic potion to aim at - I don't know how I'm going to be able to do any work this afternoon!!!

Miri, I think I saw you at the clinic but didn't want to intrude, it's such a special moment. Hope it went well, I have everything crossed for you!

Wow they are super size follicles 😊 Eek iui this week! Crazy how quick it all seems to happen in between each cycle!

Well I have emailed my forms requesting donor Harry didn't hear anything back from my clinic BUT I asked the donor clinic a couple of questions and that made my mind up- thought in the end if 0.5ml is only used then I have 6 tries instead of 3- was concerned that if I got the 3 then they don't like u only have 1 straw left incase there are problems so risking only being able to have 2 goes.
I asked if needed can I get an extension on the pregnancy slot so longer than 6months and answer was yes for £240 + VAT which is absolutely fine
So wahooo I'm now broke but yay have up to 6 goes with those little swimmers!!
So frigging excited (just waiting for invoice to come through so I can pay)

Yay. So much exciting news for Pez and Pickle. I hope it all went well Miri.
I am now 8 days late. Officially broken. On my calendar, I have a little star next to Friday when my ovulation should have happened. Have no idea what to do as all the advice says to wait for three months before going to see a GP. I'm never even as late as a day.

How weird cherry sorry I can't remember what ur circumstances are,have u ttc before? Stressed? 😔

Nope, this was meant to be my first month of IUI. Definitely not pregnant! In a month or so, I will be wishing my period away!

char how disconcerting- I defintely agree with the others on having some counselling. I am sure the Donor Conception network will be able to make some recommendations. Best of luck!

Hola everyone else!

Hi all - esp. pez! You may well have seen us today; we were there between 12.30 and 2.30, and I think we were the only pair of women around at that time. I have glasses; DP has curly dark hair. Next time you should say hi!
So, we've had our 6th IUI!! Exactly 36 hrs after the ovitrelle trigger (almost to the minute). Another 2ww beckons; we only finished the last one 10 days ago DP is having the day off work tomorrow to get some rest. She should have ovulated by now; all we can do is hope for the best. We haven't got any progesterone this time (we've had utrogestan on all previous cycles), but DP gets lots of side effects from it (mostly like misleading fake pregnancy symptoms), and the Dr reckons it isn't clinically indicated for DP at all so we're trying without.
Booked in for beta HCG on 20 Feb; although it's possible that AF would come sooner without the progesterone if it's a BFN. Fingers crossed!

Miri; how did it go today?!

So I think I've worked out what was causing my pain yesterday... AF has arrived and its the AF from hell! I've taken cocodamol, ibuprofen AND feminax (spread out over the course of the day, of course), had hot water bottles and taken a hot bath. Nothing is relieving the pain, and ive literally been doubled up. Dizziness, nausea, high temperature, the works... I can only suspect it has something to do with the suspected endo.

Poor you caution

Miri, I'm not sure if it was you.... one of you had black rimmed glasses so could have be you but the other one had slightly red hair, not black (but curly) and was wearing a green cardigan. I have long brown hair and was wearing a black and white coat. I'll say hi next time hopefully it will be for our early pregnancy scans

So I'm booked for IUI #2 tomorrow afternoon!!! My bathroom is a mess, I tested on 5 different brands of opks when I got home, there are wrappers everywhere!!!
I had to say to the doctor that I accepted the risk of having triplets! Straight after, I called my parents and my mum was panicking, saying how I should think about it etc. Seriously, now that I know the possibility of triplets exists, I'm actually fine with twins. A few weeks ago I would have freaked out at the idea of twins! And let's not hope it will come to choosing 3 names kwick
Anyway, I'm hoping this means more chances of having one fertilised egg - it should increase chances, shouldn't it?

BTW, because I got obsessed with opks today (I think I did about 15!), I'll share with you my findings on sensitivity. So ranking in order (from 1st of detecting surge to last):

1. Boots strips
2. one step strips
3. CB digital dual hormone (purple)
4. CB digital (pink) - a couple of hours after its sister
5. Babymad strips

I also found out most strips are 20-25miu whereas digitals are 40miu.

So in the future I think I'll stick with Boots strips (£5 for 5) and maybe one of the CB digital.

Pez that was definitely us - DP's hair is a dark chestnut that looks red in some lights, and she was indeed wearing a green cardigan Hopefully we'll see you there again (for a pregnancy scan, not more treatment!) Good luck for tomorrow - don't worry about triplets. Just think of it as more chances to get one fertilised
