Thanks Stork - I'll offer ice to DP before I stab her up Grin

StorkAhoy · 31/01/2017 13:51

seriously, it helped me so much. doesn't help the bruising, but some of the meds I was on, were painful, and injecting three per night.... ouch! ice packs were certainly my saviour.

Also hats off to you and your DP, I wouldn't want anyone to inject me. Prepping the injections sure - that takes a bit of skill and practice, but actually injecting? eek!

MiriAmmerman · 31/01/2017 14:10

Haha I'm not squeamish at all Stork Grin

My theory is it's fine, as long as you aren't injecting yourself. When I was having cancer treatment I had lots of injections to do at home and DP did them all - I knew how to do it in theory, but couldn't actually face it. I'm happy to inject her though. She feels the same, funnily enough - she happily injected me every day for months, but would prefer me to do her Gonal F. We had a lesson from one of the clinic nurses yesterday afternoon so feel confident with the syringe prep etc.
Just hope they do the trick!

StorkAhoy · 31/01/2017 14:11

good luck!

Im probably just a control freak! I would do my own injections at the Doctors surgery if allowed...

CautionHormone · 31/01/2017 14:56

That's great news miri! Like you said, onwards and upwards, and it's great to hear you're both getting excited again. Good luck with the injecting!

Pez82 · 31/01/2017 17:19

It seems rather complex stork Confused but sounds promising!!

Glad to hear your appointment went well Miri and that you're starting this new protocol with such strong PMA.
I think that if I had to have injections I'd rather do it to myself (although it would take a lot of will power, I would probably spend a good while hesitating before only managing to pinch myself half way through the first time!!). Although thinking about it I wouldn't have any other option as have no one around to help (and also I don't think too many men would be able to help with this Grin)

pickle162 · 31/01/2017 18:06

Ooh miri how exciting, glad your on the next try :)

kwick · 31/01/2017 18:10

Exciting times stork and miri!!!! Alao for you pez starting a new cycle.

When I had to do the intramuscular lentogest injections I went on YouTube to see if there were any videos - one last spent HOURS talking herself into it - I was always Speedy Gonzalez Grin

On train on way back - we have been delayed, which sucks. Only in tunnel now so about 50 mins left rather than scheduled 20...

OP posts:
pickle162 · 31/01/2017 21:16

Hope u got back ok kwick
35hours and 47 mins until my appointment NOT that I'm counting 🙄
So I've got a course in a few weeks which is like 212 miles away, I could get 2trains and a cab or drive-I'm in a dilemma as to which to do-I HATE public transport and train would get me in JUST in time, now you may have noticed in the 15months I've been on here I CANNOT BE LATE Confused freaks me right out.everyone thinks I'm mad for wanting to drive.....another world drama in the life of little pickle

tygr · 31/01/2017 22:12

Oh gosh, you lot and your needles. Eek. Have my head in the sand about it ever coming to that. Admire your strength in approaching this.

Got my 21 day progesterone booked in with the nurse & cancelled the GP appt (but wish I'd kept it. Had some kind of presumably viral infection since 4 January which can't seem to shift. Horrible sore throat/ear ache today. Grr)

Pez82 · 01/02/2017 07:34

You make me laugh pickle, I think you need to pick the option that is less stressful to you, regardless of what others say. I don't have a car in London but if I did there are so many days where I would be tempted to extend my journey by half an hour if it meant avoiding running for trains and fighting for a seat! This said, traffic can be very stressful too Hmm

Just one more day for you and Caution until your appointments - yay!

Poor you Tygr. Sore throats are awful. Why did you cancel your gp's appointment?

Off to Milton Keynes again and it's raining. Have a lovely day all

kwick · 01/02/2017 07:54

pickle I hate being late too!!! Do you mind driving? If you can do that - gives you more independence. I love driving but thats probably because I only drive when abroad (learnt to drive on right side in Barcelona).

Get well soon tygr HmmFlowers

OP posts:
CautionHormone · 01/02/2017 11:50

Get well soon tygr. Sore ears are the worst - nothing seems to help the pain! There's a lot going round at the moment. Glad you've got your appointment with the nurse :)

pickle I agree with pez. Go for what's less stressful... You don't want to be late if it's going to cause anxiety!

Yayyy I know pez! It's driving me mad that it's so close but so far now. I've lost a total of 11lb now since I started properly trying three and a half weeks ago - nearly two stone in total! Hoping his scales aren't broken and tell me I weigh heavier I might take mine with me and show him what mine say Grin

CautionHormone · 01/02/2017 11:51

My BMI has come down to 35.1 though. That's something, right?

MiriAmmerman · 01/02/2017 13:33

Caution that's not just something, that's amazing! Well done Smile
I struggle with my weight too (it's not a fertility issue for us as DP is a v. healthy BMI) and I am currently trying to lose some because I would like to be slimmer and fitter if/when a baby comes along. So, I know how hard you must have had to work to get all of that off, and you should be proud Flowers

Whatslovegottodo · 01/02/2017 13:45

Hello ladies!
Well after a tricky time dipping our toes into the world of adoption in 2016, we have decided that this year is the year we try for a baby!
We are a same sex female couple age 28 and 29.
We have decided to try IUI unmedicated.
We have chosen our donor (unknown) and my wife is going to hopefully carry the baby. We have gone with a uk clinic. Very excited but also very nervous and slightly disheartened at the advised low chances of success.
Am now going to read through all your stories.
Flowers to everyone going down this tricky path and here's hoping this is our year!

kwick · 01/02/2017 15:16

Welcome whatslove!!!
I would say, given your ages, that you have amazeballs chances!!!
What clinic are you with?

OP posts:
kwick · 01/02/2017 15:16

Oh and caution you have done SO well!!!!

OP posts:
Pez82 · 01/02/2017 17:13

Welcome whatslove!
I think clinics are always quite pessimistic about chances of success. I have no known issue, was still 33 when I had my initial consultation, good ovarian reserve and yet they only gave a 10% success rate for each cycle. I know that personally I prefer to believe it is closer to 20-25% - helps for the PMA!

pickle162 · 01/02/2017 18:51

I know I'm a nightmare lol!!! Yeh I like driving (& I can also stop for service station junk food on the way) think I'm going to go with that 😊
14hours 12minutes to go! Wahooo

Good luck tomorrow caution and well done on the wait loss

Welcome whatslove which clinic are you at?

I've been trying to be good this week with diet and done well BUT tomorrow I'm at my sisters where we might go for a Chinese, Friday night going to have a girly night with friends -pizza,crumble etc (& Bridget jones baby)
Then Sunday round friends for dinner-feel this weeks effort may go down the pan until
Monday 🙄

Whatslovegottodo · 01/02/2017 20:01

Have been having a read of everyone's stories and will be lovely keeping up to date with everyone. Good luck all those on the weight loss path, I am hoping to lose a stone this year, though obviously that isn't affect the fertility situ as DW is hopefully having the first baby.

Thanks for the encouragement re. the odds. We are with Manchester fertility. They have been lovely so far and very helpful. The odds we were told were 12- 15% per cycle which sounded so low! We did check other clinics but this appeared to be national data based on age rather than low with that clinic. We have signed up to the 3 package deal. They did discuss IVF which had a 48% success but having a high egg count and AMH we decided it wouldn't be worth the risk of ovarian stimulation syndrome, plus the cost was so high we would struggle with that.
We will fervently hope that the odds are higher in our favour than we were advised! It was nerve wracking choosing the donor, we went with our gut for someone who sounded genuine and kind over someone with particular job/ level of education/ looks etc. Hope we chose right!
Thanks again for the welcome Grin

CautionHormone · 01/02/2017 20:28

Thanks miri - I just hope it's good enough for Mr Von Widekind! You're so lovely. I am proud - cautiously proud, mind, because I'm not sure what he's going to say tomorrow!
Weight is such a battle, isn't it? Medication made me balloon (damn mental health issues!) and I've struggled every since to get it off. Plus I'm impartial to the odd sweet treat and eating at the wrong times Hmm
You'll do great on your weight loss journey. I can just feel it!

Thank you lovely kwick - weighing myself tomorrow morning before I go (haven't weighed myself for a few days) and I'm hoping to have lost another sneaky pound or two. Grin

Thanks pickle - you too! Remind me again what time your appointment is?? I am so terrible with remembering things, my memory is shocking just lately! Your appointment will go great Flowers I'll be checking MN until you tell us how it went!

Welcome whatslove!
I'm only a few years younger than you and your wife - I'm 26 this year. I'm single and going it alone... My odds were the same as yours! As pickle said, its bound to be a bit higher than what they tell you if you've no known fertility issues and a decent ovarian reserve, but I think they say it's lower just to be precautious.
Look forward to hearing more from you on the thread!

Look what I've made this evening Grin I was going to buy one but realised they were about £8-£10 and I looked at buying the materials to make one and it only cost £4-£5 to make one myself - and I had an hours fun doing it! It's going to keep me so motivated to keep going even past the gyno appointment (as I need to lose about 4st anyway - another stone for fertility treatment!) and I do calligraphy for people so this was the perfect mix. The heart is in chalkboard paint - so I can write my weight loss on it weekly Grin (yes, my names Jade!)

Sorry for the long post, folks! Hope you're having a happy eve x

pickle162 · 01/02/2017 20:56

Aw caution that's well pretty :) my appointment is at 9am- 12hrs and 10mins to go. Going to try and leave at about 7.15 as don't know what traffic will be like at that time-gives me 45min spare, but would rather be early.

whatslove chances of conceiving naturally is very low as well so the unmediated iui is just a little bit more like 'natural'except magic potion is put in the right place. Try not to worry too much about numbers :) when do u plan to do your first cycle

All lovelies that have gone through this, what kinda stuff is discussed at implication counselling appointment-getting scaredConfused

HopingForALittleOne · 01/02/2017 21:01

caution well done on weight loss it's terrific !!

pickle good luck with appointment fx

Welcome whatslove I believe the stats take in account those who use iui due to a male partner low/slow sperm or female fertility issues so hopefully our odds using super fast sperm and no fertility probs will be slightly higher. Not sure if any stats have ever been done to separate and compare but it makes me happy in my mind!

kwick how are things going with kwicket? Are you still getting vivid dreams? When is next scan? Hope loo all sorted.

Only 4 dpiui!!! Luckily work so busy ( I've only just finished) I blink and the day is over but then I get home and it's in my mind. Even though first week I've starting googling what the early signs are and can you tell anything before the second week of TWW . Lots of women with stories on Internet of how they knew hours/ days after DTD. However I've also read quite a few threads on Ms where people had the common signs for pregnancy and just knew and the AF came along so trying to balanced and not think toooo much!

Last day of pineapple today which I'm glad about as I think it's core leaving strange aftertaste in my mouth ( lasted until next morning one day). So they 3rd day I ate it with cheese and last night I put cheese and pineapple in warmed up chunk of bread ( with most of bread taken out middle ) it was actually really nice!
Anyone else had problem with aftertaste or is it just me? Xx

Whatslovegottodo · 01/02/2017 21:09

pickle we just had implications counselling. It was talking about how would we tell the child their origins, how would we provide strong male role models, that kind of thing. Nothing to worry about, just a chat really and some information leaflets.

I read a few pages back you said about not taking pregnecare? DW been taking it for the last 6 weeks. What problems does it cause with ovulation? It's all such a minefield trying to do the right thing!

hoping yes let's hope so, best of luck! The TWW must be agonising. Good that works a useful distraction!
