Oh witch I never thought about the mechanics of egg collection!!! So glad I did not!! Fancy that - retractable needles? Confused

pickle is it impliactions counselling? They do not provide an opinion - it is about making sure you have considered the implications eg half siblings living in next door road, what you will tell people. Don't worry about it. I cried throughout mine but found it very reassuring I was doing the right thing.

Well done hoping!!! The clinic should give you the best time. Best of luck!!!

Do what shoes says pez. I was convinced I would get BFP on first try... little did I know 9 tries later...

karen a visit to the chiro sounds like a great idea. I went regularly all through 2015 but last year I stopped just could not fit it in with everything else! Plan to go again once past 12 weeks.

Can you BELIEVE that when I left this morning at 6am the front door to the street was OPEN??? Sent my neighbours a stroppy text!!!

On Eurostar - another day trip - thank God it is Friday!

Thanks everyone, I am feeling much calmer now. Last night I followed advice and decided to try to relax, so got out my foot spa, the neck massager belt thing my mum bought me for Christmas, a packet of mango fudge from the freezer and a new dvd and stayed off the internet for the rest of the night. I really wanted a glass of wine at first, but had Ribena instead!

I can remember a bit more about the appointment now, and I am sure that the Dr said ICSI had more chance of working. It might be that she said ICSI had more chance of creating embryos, which I suppose is different and would give me more 'goes'. I'm hoping that I'll get some sort of response to my email today, but will ring later if not. I really don't want to be branded as a nightmare patient, which I suppose is the wrong attitude to take when I'm paying so much!

HopingForALittleOne · 27/01/2017 09:25

I've got option of 4:30 this afternoon or 10:30 tomorrow morning. The nurse told me the lab sperm can live up to three days but I've read it's more like 12 hours?
I've also read that sperm should be there to meet egg? I'm so confused and worried will pick wrong time

pickle162 · 27/01/2017 10:07

Oh hoping how difficult to make that decision so will be about 17 hours or about 35hours.....tricky!!x
late glad you managed to zone out of the worry last night. Hopefully you'll get a response this morning. Don't worry about being a pain, you are paying a lot you need to be sure....ring away x

I know what I'll be doing tomorrow-going and buying lots of healthy food, have eaten mostly toast, chocolate and last night takeaway pizza-had a really acute flare up of my ibs 😔 Healthy eating here I come!!!

Hope your blood tests go ok pez and miri

pickle162 · 27/01/2017 10:09

kwick safe travels
I think it's probably the implications counselling-just the one u have to have. They said I can't order any magic potion until I'm signed off Sad

Pez82 · 27/01/2017 10:11

That's a tricky one hoping
Do you know how long after the surge you tend to ovulate (through temp)?
If you take an average of 24h after surge, you could be ovulating this evening, say 12pm.
So if IUI is at 10:30am the following day your egg would still be viable (as viability starts declining after 12h but fertilisation can still happen up to 24h after release)
If IUI is this afternoon at 4:30pm, then it will be 7-8h by the team you could potentially release the egg.
I read that thawed washed sperm is more effective during the first 6h but can live up to 24h today.

So, and sorry about this as probably not helping too much, but both options could actually work!

Pez82 · 27/01/2017 10:14

INeedNewShoes · 27/01/2017 10:34

Hoping - I personally wouldn't take the appointment today. 17 hours is outside the recommended window where as 35 hours falls within the recommended window.

My current pregnancy is the result of IUI at 32 hours. It's the latest IUI I've had, and the most successful.

Pez82 · 27/01/2017 11:11

I didn't want to say it to leave your options open but I'm with shoes, i would personally taking tomorrow's slot if I were in your position

HopingForALittleOne · 27/01/2017 12:06

Thanks for your replies everyone gee whiz I've gone back and forth several times but going to go with app tomorrow. It's the earliest one as they need two hours to clean the sperm before hand.

Regretting not taking temp during cycle to understand when ovulate but may start to do so next month if I need to.

Thanks again ladies not sure what I would do without all of you xxxx

INeedNewShoes · 27/01/2017 12:25

I've just done some reading on timing of ovulation after LH surge starts. It happens between 24-36 hours.

So I actually think your timing is absolutely fine Hoping Smile

In the IUI timing study they found only a 0.2% improvement in live birth rates with IUI done at 23-29hrs compared to 29-35hrs. That's a tiny difference. Even the 36-40 stats are still nearly as good. What is clear from their study is that you wouldn't want to be before 20 hours or after 40 hours. There might be more BFPs in the 23-29hr window compared to 29-35hrs but not so much difference between pregnancies which actually resulted in lovely babies (and after all it's the resulting baby we want, not just a BFP!).

Pez82 · 27/01/2017 12:49

I got really emotional as soon as I entered the clinic today, last time I was there I was full of hope and excited and today, well, not so much.
I'll be fine as soon as I know for sure and can start a new cycle. At the moment I can't stop myself from clinging onto the tiny possibility I implanted really late or ovulated the day after IUI...
I woke up at 3am this morning and couldn't go back to sleep after that. This process is tough!

Fingers crossed for you Miri for a big +++

HopingForALittleOne · 27/01/2017 13:17

Thanks shoes that's really reassuring.

pez sorry to hear how you are feeling - have you had appointment now? Big hugs to you xxx

MiriAmmerman · 27/01/2017 13:22

Thanks Pez!
Blood was taken this morning although I wasn't there - I'm carefully rationing my annual leave so I can't go to every appointment. I've been to every substantive consultation and every IUI procedure, but I can't make monitoring scans or blood tests bad wife alert So DP went by herself. She's safely at home now and we're just waiting. I leave work at 4 and it will take me an hour to drive home; I'm expecting that DP will have news for me one way or another when I get through the door. Not sure I'm going to be on my A game for the rest of the day Grin

Sorry this morning was hard for you Pez. That excitement and optimism is there every cycle though. We find that the minute AF starts we're full of positivity again!

kwick · 27/01/2017 14:47

pickle it was the same with me. You will be fine and will procure the magic potion before you know it!

shoes how do you calculate the hours? I injected the trigger at 7pm and had the IUI the next day at about 11am.

Best of luck hoping!

FX pez and miri!!!

shoes how are you and littleshoes doing?

pickle are you done with your lurgy?

I am sitting in lounge waiting to board train back Grin

I just went for the beta hoping and I felt really overwhelmed. They hugged me while I was crying. Actually I've just realised I left without paying for the blood test!

Thanks for your words Miri, I know I'll be excited again, today is difficult but I'll put it behind as soon as I wake up tomorrow

INeedNewShoes · 27/01/2017 15:22

Kwick - don't worry! The study I'm referring to was for unmedicated IUI only. The study was done to establish the effectiveness of using only OPKs to time IUI so the findings won't be valid for medicated IUI.

I think the clinics use the trigger because that way they know when you'll ovulate so you should be able to trust that the clinic booked your IUI for the optimal timing.

MiriAmmerman · 27/01/2017 15:28

It's a BFN again for us - apparently 5 is not our lucky number Sad We're seeing a consultant on Monday afternoon for a follow-up appointment to discuss having a medicated IUI cycle.

INeedNewShoes · 27/01/2017 15:47

Miri - I'm sorry. The disappointment is awful to bear after so many attempts Sad

But, you still have plenty of avenues to explore so try to keep your chin up. You will get there, just with your patience severely tried along the way.

Have you had a hycosy yet?

Pez82 · 27/01/2017 16:45

Oh Miri, I'm so so so sorry for you two, I really hoped you'll be the bearer of good news to the thread today.

Mine was also BFN and I've booked my CD7 scan for next Friday. Better order plenty more opks!

I'm going to try temping only this cycle and not do HPTs as I found the experience so difficult. I now understand why you prefer to wait for the beta result Miri

Hoping, I'll be thinking about you tomorrow

Thanks all for all the support you've given me this week, it really means a lot xx

Thanks Pez and Shoes

DP had a hycosy before cycle 1; we've also had millions of scans, blood tests etc. That's one of the reasons this is so frustrating : DP's tubes are clear, she has an excellent ovarian reserve, normal hormone levels, she's only 33... The clinic can't find anything wrong at all. There's no reason why she isn't pregnant; it just hasn't happened yet.

We're heartbroken atm but we'll feel better as soon as we start again.

CautionHormone · 27/01/2017 18:19

Ooh really pickle?! What time?! I'll be thinking of you!!! It should be a great day for both of us; hopefully my surgery won't be too far away from now, I need it sorting because I'm getting pain quite a lot every day, predominantly on the left hand side - it's quite worrying!!

Thank you so much pez & shoes!
It's not been easy but I've severely cut my calories down, and it seems to be working! Haven't exercised much this week because I'm having a fibro flare (sob) but hopefully will be back on it next week. Grin

hoping that's great news! Yay for your ovaries! Wink

I'm so sorry for your BFN's miri & pez. I was so hoping that this cycle would be both of your cycles, it must be so heartbreaking to receive the news that it hasn't worked. PMA for the next cycle though; you will be parents!!

My uncle has just come in (we're all at my Nans) and said his girlfriends daughter is being investigated for ovarian cancer - she has exactly the same symptoms as me and is my age Sad making me panic about my symptoms now, and whether that's a possibility for me! Especially as my pain is getting more persistent. Consulted Dr. Google (which is never a good idea, I know!) and I have the majority of the symptoms. Someone talk me down before I start panicking. 😨

kwick · 27/01/2017 18:55

miri I am so sorry about the BFN Flowers I completely understand the heartache. But you will get there.

pez I am very sorry for you too Flowers

I hope you do not think I was being insensitive before - I posted without reading the new posts. Sorry.

caution when you had the problems last year did they not check your blood? Please do not panic!

OP posts:
Everhopeful76 · 27/01/2017 19:38

Caution - its likely to be the endometriosis, the pain sadly does get worse. What other symptoms do you have? Dr Google is not your friend. Try not to worry, you will have the op soon and then you ll be feeling much better.
