Eek well done caution see ur determination has paid off- is it Wednesday your appointment?

hoping sorry your surge didn't happen today...fingers crossed for tomorrow. My LH is like clockwork day 14 even if cycle is shorter or longer....I'm on vit d and folic acid-I too was going to take pregnacare but (I think) stork told me it messed with her ovulation so I avoided. Not helpful when ur on ur actual cycle waiting to start. Take care sweetie Flowers

MiriAmmerman · 26/01/2017 19:44

Sorry Pez Flowers It's shit Sad
It's amazing how quickly the next one comes round though - DP and I always tell ourselves that as soon as AF comes it's a new cycle and a new start.
Thanks for the crossed fingers everyone.

pickle162 · 26/01/2017 20:09

Jeez balling my eyes out watching masterchef junior- the most gorgeous little 8 year old just got eliminated! #emotionwreck

Latenightreader · 26/01/2017 20:14

I have now done what I should have done in advance instead of blindly going on the advice and I've investigated IVF vs ICSI. I have also emailed the clinic because the letter that arrived following the consultation (and after I'd signed up for ICSI) says IVF, but the brochure she gave me has the ICSI circled.

I am really upset and worried because it looks like I've spent £1,500 more than I should have done, and that is a huge amount of money. I have really messed this up, haven't I.

HopingForALittleOne · 26/01/2017 20:22

late is there a cooling off period where you can change your mind? I know a lot of contracts for utilities or mobile phones have them does your small print say anything? Xx

witchmountain · 26/01/2017 20:25

Late no, you haven't messed it up!! The clinic has given you some weird advice but you haven't actually had the treatment yet, so even if you've paid (mine wouldn't take the money until the cycle started so maybe you haven't?) it's not too late to change the treatment plan and refund the extra if you have paid. Which clinic is it again, sorry, I get us all mixed up?

Everything else will be exactly the same - drugs etc. Maybe you can phone tomorrow if you don't get a swift response and then you won't be worrying over the weekend?

I don't know about have a transfer under sedation or otherwise because mine are all still frozen, but someone else might know about that. And you could ask the clinic too?

Stork that would explain why I didn't have to pay extra, thanks, I did wonder if that was the deal but the person who phoned me confused me!

pickle162 · 26/01/2017 20:28

Oh late I'm sorry this is such a worrying time. Can u give them a ring tomorrow to discuss with them?
I don't know enough about icsi to really comment, did they say why they recommended it in the first place?there must be some reason. Big hugs sweetie xx

pickle162 · 26/01/2017 20:29

Ps I realise tomorrow seems a lifetime away but try as best as u can to not worry until you can chat to them (says the person that would freak and send 3am emails to them)

witchmountain · 26/01/2017 20:30

It would be very difficult for them to refuse a refund if they couldn't prove they had given you a medical reason for ICSI and warned about risks.

witchmountain · 26/01/2017 20:31

Plus it would be bad publicity all over mumsnet Wink

kwick · 26/01/2017 20:35

caution well done with weight loss.
I am not looking forward to next scan - it is still very early stages.

pickle hope you have plenty of tissues to hand!

late it is good that you have contacted the clinic - I am sure you can iron this out. We are not medically trained - there may be a readin for ICSI. See what they say and take it from there. If you feel you have been treated unfairly then say so - there should be a compaint procedure and there is always HEFA. Don't beat yourself up about this - it is a highly emotive and stressful process.

*readin = reason

It's also recognised that because it's so emotional even people who would normally be well equipped to ask questions etc may not do so. As an example, I forgot to ask how they actually did the egg collection. I knew they got the eggs out of the follicles by sucking out the fluid with a needle at the end of a scanner probe but I couldn't work out how they got the needle in that far in without stabbing through a load of other stuff first - like how would thy steer it up your vagina? When I described how freaked out I was to my therapist he pointed out the the needle was probably retractable. Somehow he managed not to laugh at me.

witchmountain · 26/01/2017 21:03

Caution well done on the weight loss! It's hard to stick with it when it seems to fluctuate so randomly but it goes to show it pays off and you can do it!

CautionHormone · 26/01/2017 21:25

Thanks everyone Grin I'm chuffed because I only really need to lose another 2lb to make my consultant happy - but I'm pushing for another 6lb (so a stone) to make myself happy, and to show him I'm determined and that I can do this and that I am serious.

late try not to panic too much. Speak to your clinic tomorrow and go from there. There's not much you can do tonight, so try and have a restful night and sort it in the morning xx

CautionHormone · 26/01/2017 21:26

pickle, my appointment is Thursday - the 2nd! X

pickle162 · 26/01/2017 21:41

Eek that's when my counsellors appointment is 😁 Gonna be a good day for both of us!!!! (Bit scared they'll say i can't do this) xx

StorkAhoy · 26/01/2017 21:53

Crikey, latenight I'm sorry to have worried you! If your clinic is worth its salt then your protocol won't be set in stone anyway. Each step of this is a hurdle and they measure and weigh up how your body responds to each stage, so the protocol does change.

There may be a solid reason FC suggested icsi, don't worry till you know more, really.

witch you're welcome!

pickle it was not I, I've never taken pregnacare, bought them, but never took them as someone did say not to!

pickle162 · 26/01/2017 22:21

Ah it was ms pez just read back a few posts!!! Sorry stork 😊I need like a spider diagram of what everyone is doing/has said or give up my full time job to keep up with MN hehe
Night all, sleep well xx

Pez82 · 26/01/2017 23:22

Ah ah yes it was me indeed Smile. And also the crazy OCD spreadsheet which I now realise is impossible to use as there is no way my clinic would let me pick the time of the IUI!!!

Hoping, I'm confused, I thought you were only rehearsing this month. Are you having the IUI done this cycle? It takes at least a couple of days to get Pregnacare out of your system (is your pee really green by the way? Mine was fluorescent while I was on it!!!). If you're worried you'll ovulate on Sunday then you could stay on Pregnacare until Saturday; by the time you stop you probably will be ready to ovulate so it should happen fairly quick. This said, it's only based on my own experience but I googled this quite a bit and read it happened to many others...

Well done Caution!!

HopingForALittleOne · 26/01/2017 23:39

I've ovulated!!

Woo woo just tested so positive at 11:30pm with digital smiley face. 7pm this evening was negative so pez I saved a copy of your spreadsheet and just had a look at it now - its brilliant but I'm a bit confused lol

24 hours would be 11:30pm tomorrow so should I see if there is first thing app on sat? Anyone know if better to go slightly earlier than 30 hours and do Friday evening or slightly later than 30 hours and do sat morning?

Yep I'm doing it this month first time !

Pez82 · 26/01/2017 23:46

Yay!! You've surged you mean Wink

I think they will book you in 1st thing on Saturday

HopingForALittleOne · 27/01/2017 00:06
Blush

...

I've surged!!

( thanks pez xxx)

INeedNewShoes · 27/01/2017 00:47

Hoping - Yay for the smiley face Smile I had exactly this dilemma on my last IUI and opted for the later option (it was about 32 hours post surge I think).

I've had BFPs doing IUIs at 20 hours after surge too but those early ones don't seem to stick so well (there's a study somewhere that backs that up).

So if I were you I'd go Saturday morning early as possible.

Pez - sorry that it's looking like a BFN for you this cycle. Onwards and upwards! I viewed my first attempt a bit like a trial run. Great thing about IUI is that in no time at all you can have your next attempt so there isn't too much waiting before you can be proactive again!

Late - I hope your clinic are helpful when you speak to them. Be forceful if needs be! I know very little about ICSI so I've nothing to add to what others here have said.

Caution - well done you Smile it's no mean feat to lose 8lbs!

Karendvm · 27/01/2017 00:51

hoping now take a deep breath and start thinking about sperm meets egg and all the wonderful things that can then happen. Hard part is over. Sit back, relax, have the iui (between 24-36 hours after your surge) and know that it is out of your hands. I hope you get your bfp. Think positive thoughts, distract yourself, and laugh a lot.

late it will all work out. The clinic will give you the answers and you'll be able to move forward knowing you have made the best decision for everything that is going on in your life right now. I know the uncertainty sucks, and that you have to rely on the clinic to guide you. It will all work out.

The 2nd might be a big day for many of us. I'm thinking it will be my day 3. I'm glad I took this month off but I'm ready to try again. Trying to not be stressed and worried. I'll be going for acupuncture again, and a chiropractic adjustment. While jack was dying I was sleeping on the floor with him for many nights. Threw my back out, so I went for an adjustment. The dr I see said many women have have full term pregnancies after miscarriages and the only different think that did was see a chiro. Something about realigning things and improved blood flow to the pelvic areal. Makes sense to me. Will also be looking into a massage appt.

hugs to everyone.
