A place for all those trying for their first who didn't know their OPKs from their BBTs, their EWCM from their FRERs and everything in between before discovering Mumsnet!

If you're that glorious mix between excited about getting that elusive BFP and terrified - this is the place for you Smile

Good luck moonlight I'm waiting off AF to go then it's time to start dtd for cycle 2.

Eva30 · 04/09/2016 17:15

Tmi alert - I've had a LOT of EWCM today (stretched quite far between two fingers!) but I'm cd19 now and I got +OPK on cd15&16 - wtf. Surely I'm not ov 4 days after first LH surge? I thought it was 12-48 hours later. So frustrating.
Welcome redblu - I have similar stats. I stopped the pill in April after about 10years. I was quite lucky my periods went back to normal straight away but still no joy TTC. May just take a bit of time for things to settle.

Pyjamas81 · 04/09/2016 20:52

Checking back in after a weekend away!

Sorry to hear AF got you mojitos - healthy cycle here we come though.

AF has left the building for me after the usual 2 day stay - dtd every other day as of tomorrow!

Monkey and Eva - that's right - I got my static smiley after 12 days of flashing smileys and on CD20!

pjs glad to hear AF has gone now. How long are your cycles generally? I caved today and did an opk this afternoon. Still a flashing smiley. I have decided that it is like the little face is mocking me! Little smug thing that it is! I am still having discomfort, not really cramping so not sure if I have ov'd or it's still to happen , but I would expect AF in about 9 days.

Pyjamas81 · 04/09/2016 21:18

Hi monkey - my cycles are a bit nuts! They've varied from 22 days to 34 days, but through doing opks I've worked out that it's my ovulation that varies massively, the number of days between peak OPK and AF is always 12-13 days. I feel your pain on that stupid flashing smug smiley face!! It's infuriating.

Hi Eva - sorry, been away all weekend!

So I think I'm 13 or 14 dpo. Was feeling crampy on Friday so completely expected AF. Still nothing yet, but feeling cramps again like AF will be here by the morning. I'm away with work until Friday, so did a test this morning (my first POAS Grin)

Bfn as expected - what a waste! Just waiting for AF to actually start now so I can get on with cycle 2!

Hope you had a good weekend!

Monkeyandthebear · 05/09/2016 08:27

Another smug flashing smiley this morning. Still got right side discomfort. Still no idea what dpo I am. Confused

Eva30 · 05/09/2016 09:06

skee hope you had a lovely weekend away and fx the witch doesn't show.
monkey it's so frustrating, and such an expensive hobby POAS, those clear blue sticks are not cheap!

FF confirmed ov on cd17 this morning so that makes me 3dpo. DTD last night just to cover all bases after the random EWCM yesterday.

bassetmum · 05/09/2016 11:44

Fx for you all.

Bit of a random question here. Im still on the antihistaminess for my hayfever (every year i seem to be on them for longer). Should i stop taking them once af has finished? There seems to be conflicting advice on their safety with ttc and pregnancy.

CinnamonTwist · 05/09/2016 13:02

monkey what CD are you on? Is it possible you could already be pg? I think opks show up as +ve when pregnant so that could be a potential reason?

Eva30 · 05/09/2016 13:08

Ooo monkey I hope cinnamon is onto something there??
basset yes I heard that it dries up your CM and also see article. No solid evidence for men - my DH takes them everyday and it'd be a snot-fest without them so I'm not even going to suggest he stops taking themGrin

Monkeyandthebear · 05/09/2016 13:37

Cinnamon I would love to think that is what it is, but think I might just have not timed to tests right to catch ov. Had a really weird cycle last month that was 38 days but we were in the states and I think the jet lag delayed ov. Normally i am regular 29/30 days and today is CD21.

I did poas yesterday just to check and it was a bfn which I expected. Going to test on Saturday as I have a work night out but it will only be CD26.

florafoxtrot · 05/09/2016 14:22

Some scary similaries between us Monkey... I'm also on CD21 currently and had a really bizarre 37 day cycle last month (after being between 26-31 days for over three years!)
Am not using any OPKs or temping so no idea when I'll have ov'd - just trying to keep up dtd and see what happens!
xx

Blissfulignorance · 05/09/2016 14:23

So cycle 1
CD 15
DTD last night but have had quite noticeable AF like cramps today.
Delusional or something going on?
Only managed to DTD once in the last week because I've been working nights.
Confused

bassetmum · 05/09/2016 14:30

Thanks Eva looks like I might need to become a snotty mess for a bit haha! Hopefully I am used to the in laws cats now that they wont affect me too much ( I also have a cat allergy).

You never know Monkey until af arrives. You are still a bit early in your cycle.

Bliss it can only take once but do you normally get cramps mid cycle?

Blissfulignorance · 05/09/2016 14:52

Not that I'm aware of basset, but then again I dont usually pay so much attention to every niggle that I feel. I usually suffer pretty bad with AF but this is fairly mild. I'm no where near as clued up on TTC as the rest of you but felt this a safe place for my stupid questions.

bassetmum · 05/09/2016 15:03

bliss I haven't got a clue either. I have always just had an unhealthy obsession with baby tv programs since I was a teenager so maybe that is why I know stuff.

I know we have made the decision to TTC but I still cant quite get my head around not starting my pill packet on Thursday after spending 11 years taking it.

Eva30 · 05/09/2016 15:48

blissful perhaps ov pains? Do you have EWCM? I get them and had them the cd16 this month, the day after ov (apparently). Maybe you need to baby dance!

Eva30 · 05/09/2016 15:51

I just used the DTD 'Timing Analyser' on FF and I finally got a High rating this month! Anything to pass the time in this tww...

Oh no! I am religiously on antihistamines from Spring well into autumn as I would be very snotty with the accompanying itchy nose/mouth/eyes/neck, etc. We also had cats that we had adopted by a lovely farmer because I turned out to be very allergic to them; I continued taking the antihistamines as the cat dander is still knocking about in our home as we systematically wash all fabrics and surfaces. I am on the really strong ones too 180mg fexofenadine.

I did read somewhere that they dry up ewcm as it is made out of the same stuff that makes snot! I couldn't stop the antihistamine when I read that as it was the hottest day of the year with a high pollen count. Now that we have had a few days of rainfall, if AF shows up then I will stop taking them and see if cm improves; I didn't detect any this cycle.

Today is 9dpo but I am resisting testing now but let's see how long I wait before I break. I have 2 Tesco hcg tests and 10 ic. I have a feeling I will use them all up by end of this cycle. AF is due Sunday.

I have made some observations in the few days which I think are hormone related. I have terrible backache today and slight cramping. I also seem to not have much patience for DH or anybody for that matter. During the fw I am a lot more patient with his small misdemeanours.

Pyjamas81 · 05/09/2016 18:36

Ooooo Eva - I've got high hopes for you this month!

Sorry to hear you got yet another flashy smiley face monkey I wanted to kick it in the nuts by day 12.

Started evening primrose oil yesterday and opks today, we're also going to start dtd every other day tonight. We will NOT miss this fertile week dammit!!!!

Right off to cook my healthy dinner!

Blissfulignorance · 05/09/2016 18:49

A little Eva I will keep an eye thanks. Still have my fx for you all.

MrsCW86 · 05/09/2016 18:59

Go pjs! Sounds like a solid plan, I started making green smoothies for myself which took some getting used to but I'm a total convert now!

Bliss I get mild cramping on and off the whole of my tww, they get a lot worse during AF but I have no idea what they are from Sad annoying though...

When are you going to test Eva? I know you've said this before but we really do have basically exactly the same stats!

Fx for everyone testing soon, I want to see some BFPs!!!!!

I'm feeling a bit meh this cycle - into the tww now but DH was ill during fw so didn't dtd as much as I'd hoped... And he started getting a bit annoyed with me trying to jump his bones every day! Think I'm 2-3 dpo but tha'ts just going off cm. Maybe it's because summer is over and it's now dark when my alarm goes off in the morning, but anyone else feeling a bit down in the dumps? Think I need a shake and to stop feeling sorry for myself!

MsHopey · 05/09/2016 19:05

I was wondering what people thought it was okay to do on the 2we? I don't smoke, or drink, or anything like that, ever. But it's more like activity wise. I've been moving some furniture today, nothing to strenuous because my body can't do anything too heavy, but I did work up quite a sweat. I know I'm not horse riding or mountain climbing, but what's too much while we're trying to get that little egg to implant?

Blissfulignorance · 05/09/2016 19:57

Good question Mrs H! I actually have no idea. Feeling completely unprepared for this Hmm I need to read more.
