A place for all those trying for their first who didn't know their OPKs from their BBTs, their EWCM from their FRERs and everything in between before discovering Mumsnet!

If you're that glorious mix between excited about getting that elusive BFP and terrified - this is the place for you Smile

Thanks ladies.
notyetthere wow those allergies sound awful. Some articles do say if you keep taking them then drink LOADS of water to compensate.
mrsCW yes we do! Ff says AF is due on 18th so I'm going to try and wait until then (never going to happen in reality!!), how about you? And yes it was so dark and gloomy this morning, I am just persevering through a bad patch at work at the moment to get to my holiday at end of Sept. Could you book something for you & DH to look forward to?
pjs lol that was just like me at the beginning of this cycle, I felt so determined!!
mrshopey I thought that the other day, it was like I was limiting my movements (how ridiculous is that) - but as people say: you won't lose your egg if you sneeze! Must try to carry on as normal as possible until BFP.

Dixiechick1991 · 05/09/2016 20:41

I've no idea how this cycle business works.
I had headaches and nausea last week & then over the weekend pains in my left hip area.
Then sorry if TMI I've woke up this morning to dark brown stuff in my pants. I've no idea if that's a period or what it is as I'm only on CD15 since withdrawal bleed.

I'm trying not to google everything because it scares me and tells me to go to the dr for everything!!

Notyetthere · 05/09/2016 20:52

MsHopey The last 2ww I upcycled a linen cupboard I bought off eBay. I have just started to upcycle a side cabinet. I am currently sanding it before I paint it something light and lovely. I might distress it and wax it. I find this all takes my mind off TTC, symptom spotting and generally think about something else during the 2ww.

If you have lots of freezer space, the 2ww is probably the best time to do a bit bulk cooking.

Monkeyandthebear · 05/09/2016 21:24

Eva and mrscw according to Ovia AF is due on 18th for me too! Here's to being strong and not testing every 2 minutes !

Pyjamas81 · 05/09/2016 21:29

Well DH is in a right mood for some reason, so dtd doesn't seem to be on the cards tonight! Ah well - I prefer to just leave him to it, him having a face on doesn't really get me in the mood!

Good luck to everyone in their TWW!

Oh dear pjs that doesn't sound like fun.

Im having a bad night myself today. My oh is in ireland for work and im really missing my dad so just had a bloody good cry to myself. I'm also thinking its hormones linked to this withdrawal bleed.

MoonlightMojitos · 05/09/2016 22:00

eva fx for you, sounding like you've done good this month!

pj go you! I had healthy breakfast and lunch but fish and chips for tea lol, hoping the pregnacare and epo will make up for that. Only had 1 coffee, lots of water and fruit too.

Cd3 for me and got the bbt back out this morn so should give me an idea of ov if it happens really early again before the opks get here. Said they were dispatched today though so I'm hoping they come before Friday when it says they're due. Tmi but dp has been moaning that he's horny today lol so hopefully he'll still be up for some serial shagging as soon as af is out the house lol. I really think we missed it last month so hoping to start cd5/6 and every other day til I get +opk.

Skee · 05/09/2016 22:53

Oh Basset, sometimes a cry does the world of good. Chin up, hope you're ok Flowers

Pyjamas81 · 05/09/2016 23:29

Well I spoke too soon! DH's mood lifted and we've got one BD under our belt Smile Next go is on Weds. Am on CD5 so if past cycles are anything to go by, I may be entering fertile week on Weds - gah!

Good work on the healthy food mojitos! I was healthy today, but then had a packet of mini cheddars and a twirl as my salad was so damn boring. Oh well - am drinking 2 litres of water a day, having healthy meals and taking my pregnacare and epo - come on September!

Sorry to hear you're feeling blue Bassett - Skee is right, a good cry and maybe punching/screaming into pillow (in my case) can help.

OP posts:
bassetmum · 06/09/2016 08:56

I had a good cry which made me feel better.

Exciting pjs. Fx for you that the BD is worth it this month. I think i need to start cutting back on the caffeine. I am a serial tea drinker. Im also trying with not having an antihistamines today - may have been a bad decision as I'm sneezing already.

How long did you wait before doing opks, temping etc?

Pyjamas81 · 06/09/2016 10:06

Ah glad you're feeling better basset Smile

Just had my decaf jasmine green tea instead of my morning coffee, first dose of the day for epo and have my 2L bottle of water ready to be drunk!

I started on opks and temping as soon as we started TTC, glad I did as my ovulation day varies massively!! Started opks for this cycle yesterday on CD5, I ov'd on day 10 or 11 last month so am starting early!

OP posts:
florafoxtrot · 06/09/2016 10:22

Am also a massive caffeine addict - let us know how you get on with the jasmine tea PJs!

I'm reluctant to start temping and OPKs too early as think I'll get obsessive about it - but in honesty it would probably help us to focus a bit on when to dtd - will maybe discuss it with hubby and see what his thoughts are - his work is just mental at the moment and he'll say that he'll manage EOD but in reality - its just not happening Sad

I'm still feeling pretty disappointed about our efforts this month as I believe we burned out before ovulation - I really did try but it wasn't happening. Have booked 4 nights in Lanzarote for next cycle though so hopefully that'll relax us both and some magic might happen - need to focus on that though and stop thinking about last cycle. And still over a week until AF!
Sorry for the self indulgent post ladies - its just always easier to write it down!

Notyetthere · 06/09/2016 13:25

Flora not self indulgent. We all write down what we feel and think. You will find that there will be someone else feeling the same way as you. And because most of us have decided not to tell anyone, this is the one place we all can talk about it.

florafoxtrot · 06/09/2016 14:16

That's very true - I've not told anyone close to me that we are trying. Hubby told his brother (?!) but I don't want the pressure and quizzical looks. To be honest at least here everyone understands exactly what I am talking about - it can be a lot harder in real life.
Thanks notyetthere. Appreciated Smile

bassetmum · 06/09/2016 14:29

I find it so difficult to not tell anyone especially as everyone around me keeps going "oh it will be you guys next to have a baby" and I am sat there thinking I am playing nonchalant and hoping nobody notices anything.

I am finding it so helpful to be able to share my thoughts and questions on here as everyone is in the same boat.

Lulu1836 · 06/09/2016 15:10

Hi I'm new here but Baset your comment sums up my every day life. Oh can't wait till you guys have kids etc. Little do they know I have pcos I am on Clomid and been trying 18 months! Currently in TWW. Nice to chat to those with same woes as me!

Pyjamas81 · 06/09/2016 15:22

I've told my 3 closest friends and my mum, that's it! So yes, it's a relief to be able to come here and vent! We're really going to go for it this month - so even though I want to stay relaxed, I will be gutted if there's no BFP at the end of it.

OP posts:
bassetmum · 06/09/2016 15:24

Hi lulu. Fx for you! Its strange how people feel they can talk about it and not take any consideration that you could have been trying for years. It still feels weird that I haven't got my pill packet ready to take on Thursday. I always put it out to remind me haha.

MrsCW86 · 06/09/2016 17:01

Eva and monkey, AF due on 18th for me too according to Ovia! So far I have been managing to wait for AF to test and so far not needed to as she's arrived waving her red flags on time! But I broke and ordered some ICs last week so I doubt I'll last... It's mainly because I seem to spot for at least 3 days before AF and the is it/isn't it wait was doing my nut.

Eva not likely we can book anything anytime soon, DH is now working away during the week for the next few months and he can only take leave at Christmas and Easter Sad flora fx Lanzarote is lucky for you!

Notthereyet that sounds amazing! I have an upcycling board on Pinterest but that's as far as I've got with doing any so far Grin

Pjs glad you got some bding in! Don't know what they're moaning about really as when not ttc it seemed my DH was constantly wanting to dtd... Glad your dp is up for it moonlight Wink

Happy you're feeling better basset Flowers and agree lulu this is always a safe place to say how you're feeling! When are you testing?

Phew, think I've caught up, sorry if I've missed anyone - this thread is so busy! x

Pyjamas81 · 06/09/2016 17:29

Lots of people due on the 18th! Eeeeeep! Fingers crossed for all of you!

FF telling me I'm due on the 28th, but that would mean having a normal 28 day cycle which Ive never ever done! If it's another 22 day one, it'll be right at the start of our holiday Sad But, at least my AF only lasts 2 days!

Still on empty circle on OPK and faint line on cheapie - not in business yet, but it's still early.

Ha ha Mrs C - I think DH's mood improved because he knew he wouldn't get any if he didn't cheer the f up ha ha.

MoonlightMojitos · 06/09/2016 18:12

pj well done on getting one in! I'm the same as you I will be really gutted if it doesn't happen this cycle. I know it's better to be prepared for it not to happen but I'm just getting so impatient now and feeling down about it last few days (af hormones probably not helping!). I keep wondering what I'm doing differently now to the cycle we got bfp and it's driving me a bit crazy. I know it doesn't work like that and you can do everything perfectly and it's just luck if it works or not but it's just so gutting.

basset urgh i know what you mean about the careless comments. I went to SILs party Friday and everyone was on about babies and when will you start trying, it's so hard to keep quiet. Theres a girl in my office that goes on and on about her pregnant friend too and sometimes i feel like screaming in her face... im not a bad person honestly lol. Dp's mum knows we must be trying now (or assumes we are again) seeing as she knows about the mc so I feel like every time I see her (which is often, she likes to pop in 😒) she waiting for us to announce again and I want to tell her to back off. It's why we didn't tell her we were ttc in first place. Sorry for rant lol. Im glad you're feeling better now! And to answer your question I didn't do any cycle tracking at all first 2 cycles (got a BFP but miscarried on cycle 2) but since mc it's made me a bit crazy to get upduffed again so I've had 2 more "relaxed" cycles since but now this one I've decided to try bbt and opks. My cycles were regular before mc so I didn't feel I'd get much out of tracking things but the last 2 have been a bit crazy and short so that's why I'm now going down that route to try and figure out what's going on in there.

flora that's what we're here for! Don't worry about getting it all out, we're all in the same boat! Fx the get away will work for you.

Sorry for essay! Hope everyone else is ok today.

Notyetthere · 06/09/2016 18:49

So you know how I said that even throughout the 2ww I will continue to with the opks to see what games might body will be playing. I have just done now and it was very positive. Today is 10dpo so I didn't expect anything but then I got a very positive opk so I thought something might be up. I wanted to start testing for a bfp on period day which is Sunday but I decided to test today due to the positive opk.
