A place for all those trying for their first who didn't know their OPKs from their BBTs, their EWCM from their FRERs and everything in between before discovering Mumsnet!

If you're that glorious mix between excited about getting that elusive BFP and terrified - this is the place for you Smile

basset I did yes. Came off the pill in April and no joy yet but I'm ok with it, it'll happen when it happens.
pjs that's good if you're not usually a spotter isn't it? How many dpo are you? I'd be really suspicious if I was spotting because I never have before.

Pyjamas81 · 01/09/2016 15:01

I'm 14/15 dpo - was going to test tomorrow. Will see if spotting gets heavier!

bassetmum · 01/09/2016 15:11

Fingers crossed for you pjs :)

Skee · 01/09/2016 15:38

I think I'm 10 dpo now and don't feel any different at all, so I'm guessing I've missed this one. Meh.

On another note - any recommendations on cycle tracking apps?

Fingers crossed for you pj's

Thanks Smile

CinnamonTwist · 01/09/2016 16:20

Skee it's all down to personal preference really, I used Ovia (which also has a pregnancy app) I liked that but it's better with regular cycles and not so good for temping I don't think (but I didn't temp so can't be sure)

Dixiechick1991 · 01/09/2016 16:38

Hello, can I join?

Age: 25
TTC #1
Cycle 1 after withdrawal bleed
CD 12

I've had awful headaches, nausea and some left side cramping since stopping my pill which hasn't been fun.

My husband works away an awful lot recently so DTD isn't that often.
Also, we recently returned from a holiday in Florida so we're having to wait at least another 5/6 weeks until we're safe to try (according to the Zika NHS guidelines)

Think we're just going to try whenever we can, not use ovulation tests or try DTD around certain times. Think we'd be too disappointed if we knew we kept missing ovulation times because DH is working away.

So, there you go. Hoping for a baby but know that it could take a long, long, long time and that it could take even longer than usual because of DH working away. Confused

19Laura88 · 01/09/2016 17:11

Well my usual 28 to 31 day cycle is now on day 32, been doing pregnancy tests since Sunday all coming up negative still. I'm so impatient but all I can do is keep waiting and keep testing every couple days I suppose.

MoonlightMojitos · 01/09/2016 18:45

Been busy on here! Been having a few days off from the ttc madness so haven't had a chance to properly catch up yet. 8dpo for me, nothing to report.

basset yes I started trying straight after coming off the pill.

pj aw :( I hope af doesn't get you but also I'm convinced that next month is our cycle so if she does appear I'm keeping you as my uber healthy cycle buddy!

skee when I got my BFP I didn't feel pregnant at all til later on so don't count yourself out! And remember so many people don't even know they're pregnant for weeks and weeks so don't symptom spot too much! I quite liked ovia out of the ones I tried and I really like their pregnancy app so it's good to move to that once you do get your BFP. I found ff and glow too much. I only use clue now though but it just to track af/cycle days, not much else so depends how much info you want to input. I found I wasn't getting much out the apps and they were making me more stressed so got rid of them all!

laura fx for you you get an answer soon.

Skee · 01/09/2016 18:48

Thanks cinnamon I'll have a look at Ovia. Smile

Welcome Dixiechick - totally understand your concern with timings - I'm a rep and cover quite a large geographical area, so I'm away for days on end and to top it off, DH has just been offered a job down south, so he'll be away Mon-Thurs every week.

I suspect this is going to be a loooong process for me! Grin

Fingers crossed for for you Laura Flowers

MsHopey · 01/09/2016 18:55

I think a lot of us are having trouble DTD, it's hard with long hours, barely seeing each other, opposite work patterns and then low libido. It's gonna be hard. And I agree with the job symptom thing, look how many people get pregnant and don't realise for months cause they have no symptoms, it happens to lots of people. You never know!
I'm worried about the symptoms if anything, I absolutely hate nausea and feeling sick :(

MsHopey · 01/09/2016 19:10

*being sick.
Lol, nausea is feeling sick x

Pyjamas81 · 01/09/2016 20:52

Aaaaaand I'm definitely out. AF here, no cramps though, so that's at least good. So that was a 23 day cycle compared to to one before which was 34 - it'll be over by the end of tomorrow then it'll be dtd every other day until I get a peak OPK result.

Mojitos - you're not out yet, but yes, let's be uber healthy cycle buddies! Going to buy some EPO tomorrow! When do I start taking it?

OP posts:
MoonlightMojitos · 01/09/2016 21:13

Aw sorry pj, looks like your early ovulation was right though! At least you know to start testing early now! Start taking it right away and then stop when you ov I think as not good in 2ww or pregnancy.

Eva30 · 01/09/2016 21:14

Ahh I'm sorry pjs SadFlowersCake onwards and upwards. Start taking EPO at the beginning of the cycle until ovulation. And decaf green tea is worth a try, I've actually become a bit of a fan.

skee I use fertility friend. Wasn't keen on Ovia as it only really shows a week at a time. Fertility friend shows the bigger picture but isn't as 'pretty' as Ovia! Everyone's different, try a few out and go with whichever you prefer.
Welcome dixie

MoonlightMojitos · 01/09/2016 21:17

natural-fertility-info.com/fertility-evening-primrose-oil.html this is helpful :)

eva eurgh I can't stand green tea!!! Well done you for stomaching it lol

Pyjamas81 · 01/09/2016 21:30

Thanks guys! Going to go buy some epo tomorrow Smile I'm actually ok about it all as I wasn't expecting a BFP, and I'm glad I held off testing! AF is a bitch, but not as disheartening as a BFN.

Eva I have jasmine decaf green tea - love it!

Mojitos - yep, I may be irregular but at least I know that my luteal length is always 12 days! FF was wrong on this occasion as I suspected, AF arrived exactly 12 days after the second peak OPK day, whereas FF was saying I'd ovulated before I got my peak result!

OP posts:
Notyetthere · 01/09/2016 21:44

So many responses.

I believe I ovulated on cd15(cramps on one side) or 16. I am on cd20 so well into the 2ww. I have continued with the opks just out of curiosity to see how much hormone is knocking about in my body. Anyway today I took the opk test and almost fell off the loo. The test line started to get dark almost immediately before even the control appeared. It eventually stopped at about 2mins in and the control line got darker. Phew! We haven't dtd for the last 2 days so not sure if any sperm from Monday is still alive.

I probably am enjoying dipping a stick in pee everyday. If the process is stressful then at least I should take every little pleasure out of TTC. Including peeing on sticksGrin

My best friend said to me the other day that TTC is a great bonding time for couples. I didn't take her seriously at the time but now thinking back, it is a great time despite the apprehension. DH is very relaxed about it. He is happy to do his partWink. He has a high libido and I have a low one so this is great for him.

First time TTC - thread 3
MoonlightMojitos · 01/09/2016 21:46

What does jasmine taste like? I'd love to be able to drink all these things but I just can't stand them! I stick to squash and regular decaf and the occasional peppermint tea when bloated. I just find them all so wishy washy like I need about 4 teabags in them lol.

If you can just hold off ov for about 3 weeks please then we'll be in sinc for test day next cycle pj 😂😆

Who's next to test, anyone else?

Notyetthere · 01/09/2016 21:51

Moonlight - I will be testing in 10 days time as AF is due in 9days. I think I might however do a sneaky few tests on 12dpo.

Skee · 01/09/2016 22:48

AF is due anytime between Saturday-Tuesday for me. I've got no symptoms though, so not getting my hopes up!

But it will be my first time POAS if AF doesn't arrive Grin

19Laura88 · 01/09/2016 23:02

Good luck skee I find it very exciting POAS! Just hope I get the right result soon :-/

Pyjamas81 · 01/09/2016 23:21

I love jasmine tea mojitos - it's a bit flowery, so not sure you'll like it! My friend also says she hates herbal tea - says it tastes like pond ha ha.

Knowing my cycles - it could well decide to wait 3 weeks, just to piss me off!

MsHopey · 02/09/2016 07:55

The only symptom I've got if feeling nauseous at the smell of tuna, which is normally something that doesn't bother me, or that I like the smell of. But could be for a number of silly reasons. Does anyone one know how long after fertilisation you're supposed to get symptoms?

Skee · 02/09/2016 08:18

Fingers crossed for you Laura Flowers

Skee · 02/09/2016 08:23

Sorry Eva - missed your message about apps - thanks for the recommendations Smile
