A place for all those trying for their first who didn't know their OPKs from their BBTs, their EWCM from their FRERs and everything in between before discovering Mumsnet!

If you're that glorious mix between excited about getting that elusive BFP and terrified - this is the place for you Smile

Hi Kookie! Welcome to our group. If I follow my symptoms I am around 16dpo I think.

Pyjamas81 · 30/09/2016 08:27

Arrrrgh how annoying basset - hope you get answers either way soon.

Temp took a big dive and went below cover line today so am not going to waste a FRER, biggest sign yet that AF will pay me a visit today. And right on time if my theory about the second OPK is correct. So. Annoyed.

Ah well - spending the day at a luxury spa with DH today will help and will try and enjoy our last day here Smile

Sorry for bfn basset and temp dip pj although I'm very jealous of your spa day! I've got to look forward to night shift this weekend.

So I applied for a new job and I got an interview yey! But how bad is announcing you're pg after just starting a job??

Really don't want to stop trying because who knows how long it will take.

Welcome kook

bassetmum · 30/09/2016 09:49

Bliss I think the biggest thing with changing jobs and pg is most companies would want you in post for 26 weeks before the 15 week before expected due date (hope that makes sense) in order to be eligible for higher maternity pay if they offer it. At least thats the experience I have had of employers.

Oh no pjs!! A spa day does sound rather lovely. Very jealous.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 30/09/2016 10:07

Hi kookie! Sorry about temp dip about temp dip pyjamas - it does sound like you're figuring out your own cycle in more detail all the time, though, which can only help next cycle.

Bliss I'm pretty worried about how work would take a pregnancy announcement too - I actually plan to hint that this is a 'lovely surprise' if I do fall soon. I know that's not great Blush and it means I'm being v secretive about the whole thing in real life - hence why I'm finding this forum so useful!

Eva30 · 30/09/2016 10:56

Welcome kookie and thanks, that's really interesting, I'm impressed that the first doc did them straight away!
pjs ah I'm so sorry. Also very jealous of spa day though and it's a nicely timed treat for you.
basset sorry for the bfn
bliss like you say I wouldn't worry about it and I wouldn't stop trying either. What is meant to be will happen

Cd15, +OPK yesterday, DTD last night, but today temp is exactly the same as yesterday and OPK is negative?? Will just keep temping and opking and see what happens.

MoonlightMojitos · 30/09/2016 11:15

Welcome kookie!

Aw I am sorry pj, that really sucks. Make the most of a steamroom/sauna/jacuzzi! And at least you know to keep opking after first surge now as you may have another one, sounds like it from what you've said about lp being bang on for 2nd surge.

Well done on the interview blissful! I honestly wouldn't worry too much about it, like you said you can't put things on hold just in case and if it'll make you happier in the time being then that can only be a good thing. I think as long as you get pregnant after starting (not starting a new one already knowing you are) then you should be fine for smp?

Sounds like ov will happen today/tomorrow eva, temp won't go up until the day after ov anyway so sounds right :)

I've been sent home from work as I've had this horrific cold for days now which only seems to be getting worse :( my boss ordered me to come home and rest. So now back in bed!

MoonlightMojitos · 30/09/2016 11:18

Oh, and this happened last night (yes, I am still addicted to poas!) Such a relief to see things look like they're progressing as they should. I was really panicking that being this ill would make something bad happen but I am trying to be positive now after that result and thinking that my immune system has taken a battering because my body is concentrating on growing the little bean instead :)

Pyjamas81 · 30/09/2016 11:49

Ooooooo that test mojitos! You just be so relieved - amazing SmileSmile

I would just go ahead with the interview blissful - congrats on getting it! What will be will be.

As predicted, AF just got me - bang on time if I go by the second surge picked up by OPK. I feel like a banged up old motor which won't start in the morning! Thankfully it got me before our spa day kicks off so mooncup is in so I can just try and forget about it for the rest of the day (with the help of some anadin!). I am disappointed as we really tried with the dtd this month but knowing about the second surge does make it easier. It means our timing was off again. Am back on the epo and have agreed with DH that we'll make an appointment at a private fertility clinic for November in case we have no luck this month. Any recommendations for London clinics? There are so many to choose from!

LisaSimpsonsbff · 30/09/2016 12:25

Just wanted to say sorry about AF Pyjamas. Hope the spa day helps to cheer you up and take your mind off things.

Eva30 · 30/09/2016 13:57

mojitos - fab!! Little bean is taking up all your energyGrin
pjs sorry about AF - that was the feeling I had last month like I can't possibly do any more than I did that month! Your cycles seem to be steadying out though right. Don't know any sorry, I'm not near London.

Seahawk80 · 30/09/2016 14:44

Hi eva and dodie I was recently diagnosed with pcos. I'm not too worried as my sister has it and had 2 babies easily once she took clomid Smile

Eva it's worth going to docs sooner rather than later as they might want to try a few things before clomid. I had to have a scan and there is a polyp which they have referred me to a gynaecologist about and they won't prescribe clomid til its been looked at. In the meantime I'm on metformin which lots of people with pcos get pregnant on although currently it's making me feel like shit! Weight loss is a side effect, probably because you loose your appetite and shouldn't eat carbs or fat on it!! However my cycles have gone from 60 to 36 days already so I'll persevere! Good luck with the appt

Seahawk80 · 30/09/2016 14:46

Sorry pjs just saw your post. That sucks - hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday!

Dodie2087 · 30/09/2016 18:06

Awh mojitos I've heard flu like symptoms are a sign of early pregnancy! Don't worry about it, its all normal! :)
Sorry about AF pjs :( hopefully your spa day has helped you feel a little better and pampered :)
Hi bliss I'm exactly the same with my work, iv had lots of fertility appointmentss to attend this year and I haven't divulged any information at work - I just don't like the thought of admitting I have been trying for a baby! Try not to worry over it - it will all work out :)
Hi seahawk! Awh thanks for the positive message about clomid! Although sorry to hear about the pcos, atleast your being check out and helped, I found it such a relieve when I found out! Since I've had answers and I know whats going on with me, I feel so much better. Good luck with the referral. What does metformin do?

MouseLove · 30/09/2016 18:34

So for the last half hour I've had an uncomfortable pain in my tummy, like 2 inches below and to the left of my belly button. I think I'm going to have a bitch of a weekend with aches and pains. Sad

Seahawk80 · 30/09/2016 18:36

Dodie My sister swears by clomid, for her second she just took leftover tablets and got pregnant straight away! She tried for over a year without it for her first. Thanks - I know what you mean about knowing what's wrong, knowledge is power!

Metformin is a diabetes drug that lowers blood sugar but also has been shown to have a side effect of easily getting pregnant especially with pcos. A lot of people seem to buy it online with all the Google research I've done which seems dodgy to me but my GP prescribed it. If I've had no luck by January she'll combine it with clomid.

Pjs I meant to say NHS might be worth a try. I'm 35 too and due to our (ahem) advanced age you should get referred straight away.

Bliss I'm the same with work, I just say I have a hospital appt, no one ever asks what for and if they did I'd just make up a dodgy knee or something. My friend told her boss she was being treated at a tropical diseases hospital for suspected malaria!! She loves to make things complicated Confused

Dodie2087 · 30/09/2016 19:16

Tropical diseases hospital?! That's hilarious! :D Thanks Seahawk eeek feeling a little more positive already! We are going to test next weekend, which will be 11dpo! Its surprised me how into it my partner has been actually, he keeps asking me everyday if I feel pregnant yet! lol! Us first timers aren't really going to know what that feels like?? I cant wait to find out! (I'm sure I might regret saying that some day!!)

All BFPs - what first symptoms did you have? :)

Sorry to hear of your discomfort Mouse, what CD you on? Are these pains usual for you?

Eva30 · 30/09/2016 19:34

Ah thanks seahawk that is so helpful, and at least I know what might be the next steps etc. So after the scan will you be going on clomid?

Pyjamas81 · 30/09/2016 19:57

Thanks ladies Smile Had a great day at the spa, now heading out for last night dinner and guilt free drinks!

Seahawk would nhs include tests for DH?

OP posts:
Seahawk80 · 30/09/2016 20:37

Eva yes doctor has said if I'm not pregnant by Jan its the next step. Fx I don't need it but good to know the plan!

pjs yep they have to test them to rule them out so mine just made his own appt and got reffered. We're at same practise but I don't think it matters. I went to a female doctor which I think helped.

For both of you if you get reffered for a scan it will be internal. Luckily my friend warned me as she had one and the doctor said the scanner thing that goes inside you is like a pen. It is not, it's not massive or anything but not a bic biro, the nurse had hysterics at my friends face when she saw it!! It's more like a magic marker, it didn't hurt though. That story made me laugh!

MouseLove · 30/09/2016 20:51

Dodie I'm 15 days off my pill so no idea of cycle yet. I'm sure it's probably AF related but wasn't pleasant since I was sat on my tram home with no access to anything. Had to ride it out.

bassetmum · 01/10/2016 06:33

Well ladies I did a frer this morning which was a bfn again so I think I am out this month and its just my body playing silly wotsits post pill. Oh well!

Eva30 · 01/10/2016 07:03

seahawk yeah I agree am- fx to not needing up but always thinking ahead!

Cd16 for me today and think I ov yesterday as increase in temp today. FF will confirm it if 3 days of increased temps. Only got two DTD in during FW but we'll see. AF due 15th Oct.

Eva30 · 01/10/2016 07:04

Typos galore think I'm still half asleep!

Pyjamas81 · 01/10/2016 07:05

Sorry about bfn basset - how long have you been off pill again? It's taken me a few months to regulate. Am never going on pill or getting an implant again!!

Second and hopefully last day of AF today - at least they're short. Then back to dtd every other day - sigh...
