A place for all those trying for their first who didn't know their OPKs from their BBTs, their EWCM from their FRERs and everything in between before discovering Mumsnet!

If you're that glorious mix between excited about getting that elusive BFP and terrified - this is the place for you Smile

Sorry for bfn bassetFlowers what cd are you on now?

MouseLove · 01/10/2016 08:15

Sorry basset. X CakeChocolateWine

Eva I'm pretty sure I'm working to the same cycle as you. I'm 16 days off my pill so I'm counting today as CD16 until AF shows up and ruins everything lol. I'm waiting till the end of October to test if AF hasn't shown up.

bassetmum · 01/10/2016 10:25

Cd28. I knew the chances of catching the first month was slim. Oh well onwards and upwards when af does decide to arrive.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 01/10/2016 10:26

So, I know for approaching certainty that we didn't DTD at the right time this month and so I can't be pregnant. So why did I just find myself going and buying a pack of FRER from Boots 'just to check'?! This drives you bonkers doesn't it?!

Pyjamas81 · 01/10/2016 12:35

Ha ha Lisa. - happens to the best of us! How many dpo do you think you are?

Flying home tonight - boooooo. Going to attempt sober October - partly to boost chances a bit, partly because I currently feel toxic after so much booze! Last time I gave up for a month, it paid for Christmas hahaha #pisshead

Let's see how strong my resolve is when I'm confronted with 800 twatmails when I check my work phone Confused

Well my week off work back at the parents has been fun. Spent a lot of time with the niece who is 4 and the nephew who is 8 weeks. Been a bit tough as my sister is totally in baby mode, but I do love the little ones and been good to spend time with them. We are going to try no opks this cycle but dtd every other day. Been tough at the parents but managed to dtd whilst barely making a noise on Thursday. Heading to a wedding today and just had really creamy cm which was a little unexpected, might mean it isn't such a long cycle this time. Parents are staying at the wedding so will be home alone tonight and might be a bit easier to dtd tonight. DH is in his kilt today and looking v handsome so dtd shouldn't be a problem tonight.

Sorry for the bfn basset Hope AF gets you soon so you can get on with the next cycle.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 01/10/2016 13:21

Well, I think I'm 8dpo but that would mean I really, really can't be pregnant as we didn't have sex in the right window at all. So I suppose my (daft) hope is that I actually ovulated a bit earlier than that. Writing this down I can see that I have gone a bit mad... I think I'm going to waste use a FRER on Monday just as a way of shutting up that 'what if...?' voice. Though I wouldn't like to place money on that working...

Pyjamas81 · 01/10/2016 15:03

I 'what if' POAS before when we first started TTC knowing full well we didn't dtd at the right time - sometimes it just needs to be done!

Hope the dtd every other day strategy works for you monkey! We'll start tomorrow every other day until +ve OPK then three days straight then one more time after a day's break. By then both of us are over it. I'm already over it. Really really hoping I don't surge twice again - could've cried when that happened!

Hi can I join the thread!

My stats are
Age 35
Ttc# 1
CD 8

Can anyone advise about taking EPO, dosage and when to take and what's the benefits.

Pyjamas81 · 01/10/2016 15:53

Welcome hopefulbunny! And thanks for reminding me to take my second dose of epo Smile I take 3000mg a day (1 capsule with each meal time) to improve (or get any) ewcm. You take it until ovulation then stop until next cycle Smile I only just started doing it on last cycle, have to say, I did notice a difference!

Hopefulbunny · 01/10/2016 16:02

Pyjamas81 thanks for the info.

Ive brought pregnacare but slightly concerned about taking it after reviews any advice from anyone taking this or is sevenseas one better?

Pyjamas81 · 01/10/2016 16:10

I take the pregnacare one - seems fine to me, but I know others have had issues with it.

bassetmum · 01/10/2016 16:22

I'm just taking a folic acid supplement. Is it worth taking a proper conception supplement?

MrsCW86 · 01/10/2016 17:57

Hi everyone, just trying to catch up after a ridiculous week which has ended up with me being asleep by about half 8 every evening - feeling completely wiped out!

notyet I'm so sorry to hear that, I hope you're looking after yourself and I'm glad DH has been a star Flowers fx everything settled back down for you quickly xx

Sorry AF got you pjs, have you had a second surge like that before?

Hi to the newbies hope you're all ok!

Moonlight that's lovely to see the progression on the CB! How you feeling? I've got my GP appointment on Wednesday so hoping that will get the ball rolling with booking appointments etc, it might start feeling more real then!

I'll catch up properly on the rest of the thread but hope everyone's ok despite bodies playing silly buggers!

bassetmum · 01/10/2016 18:25

I'm making the assumption that the stinking hormonal headache Ive got at the moment is the sign that af is imminent. I'm just hoping its not going to be as horrendously heavy and crampy as it was when I was a teenager. I used to have to sleep on a towel as leaking used to be a regular occurrence.

How exciting MrsCW. I bet it will feel even more real after your drs appointment.

bassetmum · 01/10/2016 18:38

Ladies that temp which thermometer do you suggest? I meant to ask in my last post

Pyjamas81 · 01/10/2016 20:15

I ordered this one basset - BabyMad Basal Thermometer (HOT PINK) Body Temperature Ovulation Test Thermometer (Centigrade) Flexible Tip + BBT Fertility Chart https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00LUSWC5W/ref=cmswwrcppapi_oRa8xbDG9DD61

Seems fine to me!

Nope MrsC, never had a second surge before, so I'll carry on testing this time with cheapies just in case!

AF for me today 😕 Got some EPO to start on as I don't have much mucus and I'm going to do stoptober no alcohol, plenty of water. Hope we all have some good news this month! Started trying beginning of August but September was a write off for us due to colds and thrush etc 😁

MoonlightMojitos · 01/10/2016 21:23

I have this one basset www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B015WKODDM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1475353112&sr=8-1&keywords=bbt&pi=SY200_QL40 I think as long as it's a bbt one (to 2 decimals) then they're all pretty much the same.

mrscw I've had the cold from hell for almost a week now and seems to be getting worse so I feel awful! I've been curled up on the sofa since yesterday morning when I was sent home from work lol :( but apart from that I'm ok. Glad things are getting going for you! Gp doesn't even want to see you round here so I have the number of local midwives to ring direct, think I might call them late next week to book in :).

MouseLove · 01/10/2016 22:26

Just ordered a thermometer thinking it might help figure out my cycles. However I have a weird question.... from which hole do i take a temp? HAHA Im guessing mouth... but you never know.

I wake each morning at 5am (alarm for DH) and then go back to sleep until 7am (alarm for me)... should I test at 5am?
Im awake more towards the 7am time at the weekends.

MrsCW86 · 01/10/2016 22:31

basset I just took folic acid for ttc, as I think that's the most important one to have in your system. At least if it is AF rearing her ugly head then it's means your system has kick started itself pretty efficiently - hopefully that's a good sign of things to come Smile

Your body obviously thought it was getting too predictable for you pjs... Just to throw a spanner in the works!!

Oh no moonlight, hopefully you'll be able to shake it soon! Isn't a cold one of the earliest pregnancy symptoms? I can't self-refer to the midwives here, need a gp appointment first. Seems pretty pointless, but breaks the waiting up a bit. Tomorrow I have officially passed my hurdle and basically just want to cry - and DH is away this weekend so I'm feeling very sorry for myself!

Sorry about AF Laura, stoptober is a plan - especially with September as you described it! Are you feeling better now?

Lisa that just sounds normal round these parts Grin the ics I got were 10miu, so not quite as sensitive as a frer but not far off (think frer is 6-7miu) so I'd definitely recommend them to satisfy any poas needs! I think I got 30 for about £4.50 on Amazon...

I hope you enjoyed the wedding monkey and that your dh's kilt did the trick for dtd!

Seahawk I love that tropical disease excuse!!!!! Now that is thinking outside the box - the antibiotics excuse has definitely worn thin, if anything it's a sure fire way to make people think you're pregnant!

LisaSimpsonsbff · 02/10/2016 09:10

bassett I take Tesco own-brand prenatal vitamins, but only because before I used to take their own brand multivitamins before TTC, so it seemed logical to carry on taking the extra vitamin C etc. I very recently realised that the prenatal ones make me feel sick on an empty stomach, but are fine if I take them after a meal.

MoonlightMojitos · 02/10/2016 09:27

mouse orally or vaginally lol, vaginally is meant to be more accurate but I did mouth :). I'd go for the 5am alarm as it should be right when you wake up before you even move or anything and I think 3 hours of unbroken sleep? You might start to stir by 7am if you're in the routine and your body knows it's approx 2hrs after the first alarm.

Aw mrscw take care of yourself and have a cry if you need to. That's really good though. I've still got an anxious 3 weeks yet :(. And yes I didn't realise the cold was a symptom but it does seem to be that your immune system shuts down a bit to get the bean all snuggled in, not that it makes me feel any better about it lol.

basset you only need folic acid and vit d so stick with that if it works for you. My diet can be a bit hit and miss which is why I decided to take pregnacare just to make sure I'm topped up on everything.

bassetmum · 02/10/2016 10:12

Well af arrived on the exact day she would have if I had been on the pill. Freaky!

MouseLove · 02/10/2016 10:42

Thanks ladies. Gonna stick it in my mouth at 5am rather than the V. GrinGrinGrin

Basset, sending massive hugs. You're not out until the fat lady sings the red river song though. So keep positive!!!
