A place for all those trying for their first who didn't know their OPKs from their BBTs, their EWCM from their FRERs and everything in between before discovering Mumsnet!

If you're that glorious mix between excited about getting that elusive BFP and terrified - this is the place for you Smile

Hello SJ!

How exciting, Moonlight!

Just wondering how you're doing, Alice? I know you said you're generally having a tough time with this, and I wondered whether you'd thought about chatting to the GP? I've always got a bit of 'hangover guilt', but for me it used to become a lot more prolonged and excessive when I was in a depressive period (I've suffered from intermittent but quite serious depression and more prolonged anxiety in the past). Of course doesn't mean it's the same for you, but just thought I'd share in case it helps/rings any bells.

I'm feeling a bit impatient today: I guess technically in the 2ww, but know I'm not so I just want it over with so I can start a new and hopefully better-fated cycle! Doesn't help that my stupid period app thinks AF should have started three days ago so is chirping on about me being 'late'.

Hi :)

Just having a look through some of the threads, mind if I join?

So exciting reading BFP stories :) fingers crossed!

Piehunter · 27/09/2016 14:14

Grin mojitos

Ahh pj's how annoying!

Welcome tink :)

CinnamonTwist · 27/09/2016 14:39

Just had a catch up as I've still been lurking, and I just wanted to say massive congrats mojitos Grin I've been keeping my fx for you in particular as we MC around the same time last time.

I also wanted to say 'bye' everyone, I am about 9 weeks now and feeling a lot more positive about this pregnancy than the last one, so in the nicest possible way I hope not to be back to this thread again. Good luck to all of you (and congrats to the others with BFPs too) I hope you all get sticky beans very soon, and thanks for the support you gave me when I was an active member GrinFlowers

bassetmum · 27/09/2016 14:47

Good luck Cinnamon hope you have a happy and healthy rest of your pregnancy.

Still no sign of af for me yet. That's confusing pjs hopefully its a positive sign.

I can imagine that the app is rather annoying lisa. I still think it's amazing as how as teenagers you are led to believe that you can fall pregnant like that when in reality its not even close.

Monkeyandthebear · 27/09/2016 16:43

Hi guys, just a quick check in. AF has now gone and I am getting ready for fw. In Scotland for a week with family so chilling out and spending time with my niece and nephew. Been tough as the nephew is only 7 weeks old and my sister is full on baby talk right now.

I did just have a random call from clearblue. I signed up on here to a potential trial and they have called me and are sending me stuff through for a cycle with opks. They say I need to send fmu from everyday. You never know I might not need it!!!

Hope everyone is well and the 2ww isn't too bad for everyone or that the bd is working!!

MrsCW86 · 27/09/2016 17:19

Oh pjs - so confusing! I'm massively keeping everything crossed for you that you've just tested too early for anything to show... Hopefully true to predictably unpredictable form your body is just keeping you guessing that little bit longer!

Moonlight glad you're feeling ok, I had loads of twinges last week which seem to have stopped, but no other symptoms apart from sore bbs and still getting awful, vivid dreams.

What app are you using Lisa? I had Ovia which at one point must have thought we weren't dtd enough as it's helpful tip of the day was to read female erotica! Honestly, the apps are awful but so addictive...

How you feeling basset? How many days since you stopped the pill again?

That sounds interesting monkey, and free opks I guess! But definitely fx that you won't need it Smile

Welcome to the newbies, how are you all?

I'm counting down the next 6 days as I will then officially be past the point I mc last time. Hoping I will feel slightly less anxious after that who am I kidding

MoonlightMojitos · 27/09/2016 17:37

Haha mouse it's feeling more real, I'm just incredibly nervous still at the moment. We won't tell anyone for a while yet! I'll probably tell my mum very soon though and one or two bffs, even if the worst does happen it's good to have support irl so might as well tell them anyway! I will be 13 weeks on my work Christmas party so I'll probably tell everyone in work then when they ask why I'm not drinking!

pj this is good about the temps though! Let's hope it's a late implanter and bfp still to come but keeping temps up!

So nice to hear from you cinnamon, I was thinking about you the other day wondering how you were getting on! Thanks for the congrats:). So glad you're doing well!

mrscw thinking of you through the next few days but I'm sure you'll be fine!

monkey I signed up for that too but havnt heard back (and don't them now obvs lol) but fx they bring you some luck!

MouseLove · 27/09/2016 22:00

Awww mojitos I'm sure this is it for you, how exciting, let us know when you start to tell everyone. That's something I can't wait for. I just know my mum will probably cry major happy tears. And how cute, you could tell others at Christmas time. Grin

MoonlightMojitos · 27/09/2016 23:01

Ha yeah it will be nice :) one of my friends has been working abroad since feb, she's back in November so I'm very excited to tell her! Expect it'll be a big shock as she doesn't know we've been ttc (bit of an odd thing to tell someone over text when they're away!). My mum will be over the moon, she's been very keen to know what's going on. She was fascinated when I told her about doing bbt lol, none of that in her day! So she knows test day/af will be very soon but be polite enough to not ask! (Unlike dp's mum who not-so-subtlety asks every time we see her so we're going to have to fib!)

MoonlightMojitos · 27/09/2016 23:11

I just poa-opk as an experiment and they do pick up hcg! 12dpo.

First time TTC - thread 3
MouseLove · 27/09/2016 23:33

Haha Mojitos SCIENCE.

We haven't told a sole we're TTC. My parents know we want kiddies and we've talked about it like next year might be our year but nothing beyond that. My mum is the same as yours. Polite.

MiL on the other hand... Do you not like kids or summat? I wouldn't mind but she's not a baby personal at all, she's borderline maternal. Lovely woman and we see them maybe once a month but I can't imagine my children around her at all. FiL is so laid back he's horizontal, I'm not sure he's noticed we're married. My mum and dad live around the corner, so we're always there lol. It was their 41st wedding anniversary today!!!

My mum always said she tried for 10 years for me and 10 yrs for my sister. But recently she made a comment "oh when you start trying you'll catch straight away like i did, I was super fertile" which leads me to believe her memory might have gone!! Grin

Notyetthere · 27/09/2016 23:44

Hi Everyone, I have been lurking for a while but I haven't posted for some time. I think my last post was in response to Lisa's post about ewcm when she was away on the work trip with DH miles away. Made us laugh on bfn days.

Like Cinnamon, I was planning to come on here and post for the last time as I nervously joined the pregnancy/antenatal section. However, something kept me from leaving this thread and I sadly got my hunch on Friday. I mc at 5+6 which was a very terrible day but I have now got myself together and DH has been a star. So it looks like I will still be part of this thread for a while longer. We plan on TTC as soon my cycles start to show some pattern.

Moonlight - yes they do! Smile That is how I found out I was pregnant. I wanted to continue to see what my hormones did after ovulation and the ic ovulation test came back positive on 9dpo. I then knew something was up which is why I used a pregnancy test. Now that I have miscarried, I have lots of ic ovulation sticks leftover from the last pregnancy so I started to use them yesterday. They are coming back very positive; they are picking up on the small amounts of hcg still knocking about in my system. Very confusing for me at the moment as I just want things to be back to where they were when I was TTC before.

Ooooh ad btw - congratulations on your bfp! Ave you wandered over to the pregnancy/ antenatal section yet? That has been an education for me there! Lots of great stories, private scans and what you can do with the information( some of it scary) but also lots symptom spotting. Looks like we symptom spot during TTC and then continue with it even after.

MoonlightMojitos · 28/09/2016 00:02

Oh no :( I am sorry notyetthere. I hope you are taking care of yourself. I haven't joined any pg threads yet. Last time I found them a bit overwhelming, everyone seemed to have every symptom going which just made me worry and also they are so busy I felt like my posts just got lost. I'm hoping for a few people from these threads to join a bfp thread together with similar dates a bit later on :). I know it's so crap after mc you just want everything to be back to normal so you can make things happen again so I hope everything is over quickly for you and settles back down and you can get a BFP again soon. I'm on cycle 3 since mc so luckily it hasn't taken too long, it just feels like forever when it's all you think about. Try and get some distractions in and make the most of a few drinks while you can xx

Blissfulignorance · 28/09/2016 06:51

So sorry notthereyet hope it isn't too painful for you both and I hope the next one sticks and doesn't keep you waiting.

Sending love and hugs at this shitty time.

AF arrived last night and was incredibly painful. Yey. AngryWineCake

bassetmum · 28/09/2016 07:31

I am so sorry not. I hope you both are looking after each other.

Well normally I start af over night no sign of it this morning but I was so bloated last night I think she arrive today but we will see. I'm sorry she turned up for you bliss.

Loving the science experiment mojitos.

Got to love parents mouse. They do come out with the strangest things. It was a bit like my mum divulging it took them 6 months to have me and they temped to have my sister. No mention of my brother though.

MrsCW I took my last pill on the 31st August but did have my withdrawal bleed as normal.

MouseLove · 28/09/2016 07:43

Ha, bassetmum maybe your brother is the mystery child!!! Lol. Out of interest, how soon after stopping your pill did you have your withdrawal bleed? I'm day 13 today. Hmm

Seahawk80 · 28/09/2016 08:04

Congrats Mojitos! That's great news!!!

Pjs - sorry for bfn, I know it's rubbish on hol. Sounds like you are staying chilled though! Let me know if you have any questions about fertility tests. I would recommend it as it really put my mind at rest. Even though it turned out there was a problem with me (pcos) it was ok as I know there is lots they can do and the doctor prescribed something straight away. Only downside is DH now thinks he's a huge stud with his healthy sperm Hmm

Welcome newbies!!

LisaSimpsonsbff · 28/09/2016 08:38

Notyet so sorry. I hope that you're both doing OK and that your cycle comes back quickly if that's what you want. Glad my joke made you smile - you may not be surprised to hear that DH was less impressed with it!

bassetmum · 28/09/2016 08:47

Mouse - maybe he's always been the problem child even now and hes 24 and dad himself haha. I had my withdrawal bleed as per normal. Took last pill on the Wednesday stated bleeding on the Sunday.

Oh dear seahawk men and their egos. Im happy for you that the tests provided you with an answer and that your dr started your treatment straight away

Seahawk80 · 28/09/2016 09:17

Sorry notthereyet I caught up in a rush and didn't see your post. I hope you're doing ok. Flowers

basset thanks. It has helped a lot. DH has been having a really tough time at work so at least it's boosted his confidence a bit too much

Pyjamas81 · 28/09/2016 10:22

So sorry not Sad Look after yourselves FlowersFlowersWe're here if you need extra support xx

Love your OPK experiment mojitos!

Another day, another dose of confusion for me! Felt like AF was about to start all day yesterday (knicker checking at every opportunity while on holiday is not fun), but nothing happened. V slight dip in temp this morning but still above cover line (chart below) and what I think was another bfn on a FRER, but there was a shimmer of a line where the second line should be . It was a real shimmer, no colour, which makes me think it's an evap line which I've never seen before. You can just about make it out in the pic below, it's clearer in real life. Going to try not to read too much into it while frantically googling shimmery FRER lines. Am now 15dpo and a day late for AF.

Will stay by the pool today so am close to facilities if AF shows up!

Eek! Fx Pjs!!!

bassetmum · 28/09/2016 11:11

I'm feeling like that pjs. I have even resorted to wearing a sanitary towel just in case as I feel like it should be af by the way down there is feeling (tmi i know). I have just had a really odd pinching feeling it started next to my belly button then down to my crotch. Very odd.

MouseLove · 28/09/2016 11:24

Thanks basset, I'm ready scratching my head as to why I've not had a withdrawal bleed. I was expecting one. Confused
