A place for all those trying for their first who didn't know their OPKs from their BBTs, their EWCM from their FRERs and everything in between before discovering Mumsnet!

If you're that glorious mix between excited about getting that elusive BFP and terrified - this is the place for you Smile

Driving myself mad wondering if I'm showing any symptoms... Going to test on Friday unless Af shows up first!

Please can I join too?

TTC #1
Age: 35 (except I tell everyone 27 or 28 depending on my mood)
CD 18
Cycle # 1

I've fallen in to the OVK trap too early but had my mind put a little at ease that normal hormonal things are happening in my body. I've no reason to believe this might be difficult (apart from my age and being overweight) but I might be a bit of a worrier Hmm

Blissfulignorance · 26/09/2016 07:06

Congratulations mojitos!
Welcome all the newbies

Back home and horrifically jet lagged. Stopped taking northisterone yesterday so AF should turn up any day now and I can begin cycle 2. Decided against having a period on hol once I got the BFN so much more fun drinking cocktails without cramping.

I have no advice for post pill bleeds as I wasn't on any, didn't get along with any of the 7 pills I tried so been cold turkey for about 5 years.

MrsCW86 · 26/09/2016 08:14

Aaahhhh, moonlight congratulations!!!!! That's a great big whopper of a bfp for testing early, how exciting! How you feeling?

Sorry about af Seahawk and the bfn basset, you're looking at it the right way though as the first cycle is just a complete unknown!

Gosh mouse, men really don't realise how un-straightforward ttc can be - I think we're the ones who Google obsessively do lots of reading about it!

Holiday sounds like good timing pie! Fx a bit of sleep will get your DH all set for lots of dtd Smile

Lisa that sounds positive, such a shame you were away though! At least once af comes you'll have a benchmark for how your cycles are going to be.

Welcome back blissful! Did you have a lovely holiday? Cocktails are definitely more fun without cramping, couldn't agree more!

Welcome to all the newbies!

I am knackered after a wedding this weekend, where ironically I woke up with a banging headache despite having not had a sip of alcohol, gutted! Feel like I could spend all day in bed if that was an option...

Pyjamas81 · 26/09/2016 08:40

Welcome newbies! Smile

Well I caved and tested at 13dpo and got a BFN Sad Not even the faintest of squinters no matter what angle I looked at it. AF due tomorrow and it was a FRER so I would've thought there would at least be a faint line if I were pg. I know I'm not out until AF shows, but I'm just waiting for her to turn up now. At least I'm on holiday - will drink some guilt free cocktails later.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 26/09/2016 09:01

Flowers pyjamas - sorry about the BFN. I hope you have some lovely cocktails to cheer you up!

bassetmum · 26/09/2016 09:18

Sorry for the bfn pjs. We both aren't out till af shows. Enjoy your cocktails so much more exciting than a grey Monday morning at work.

I just wish I could shake this massive period of exhaustion I'm currently in.

Pyjamas81 · 26/09/2016 10:07

Thanks both - got my fx for you basset. Pretty gutted as thought we had a great chance this month, but let's see if AF shows tomorrow. Annoyed with myself for not waiting, esp as had no intention of testing, but some sort of testing demon had descended upon me when I woke up this morning!

Going to look into fertility tests when we get back home - I'm 35 and DH is 41 so I'd rather know asap if something needs to be dealt with.

Holiday was perfect MrsC and absolutely necessary! I feel so much more relaxed now.

Sorry about the bfn basset and pj, fx crossed it's just too early though.

Still waiting for AF to arrive myself definitely feeling the mood swings and cramping today. Back at work tomorrow which will be so much fun if she turns up then.

Also I've been naughty with not taking my vitamins and healthy eating so starting tomorrow there will be plenty of healthy food choices and switch cocktails to water. Wish me luck.

Pyjamas81 · 26/09/2016 13:19

How many dpo are you blissful? Fx for you.

Currently on a sun lounger sipping a cold beer, life could be worse I suppose Smile And, I'm still not out. Just annoyed I wasted a FRER a day before recommended test day! I should know better!!

OP posts:
bassetmum · 26/09/2016 14:15

Very jealous pjs. Ive just managed to get soaking wet on my lunchtime walk at work.

I am trying so hard not to symptom spot and fight the urge to poas again.

Im currently feeling odd, really burpy, had a brief nauseous wave eating lunch, a mild jelly leg feeling, occasionally light headed and odd cramps with the total exhaustion. I have no idea if it could just be pms as I can't remember what it was like before taking the pill.

Pyjamas81 · 26/09/2016 14:36

What dpo are you and when are you due to test basset? Those sound like odd symptoms to me! I'm assuming everything I feel is AF. Currently feeling absolutely nothing. Which in itself is odd just before AF, but there we go. It's bad when I think no symptom is a symptom lol.

OP posts:
bassetmum · 26/09/2016 15:26

If I go by the sharp pain and other symptoms I had I think I ovulated on the 14th so I would be 12dpo today. In theory if my cycle had been 28 days I would be due Sunday but that was my pill cycle. I've still got one asda early test and two tesco first day of missed period tests. Couldn't face buying an expensive test lol.

TTC definitely messes with your head.

Pyjamas81 · 26/09/2016 15:40

I hate TTC - it was exciting and interesting at first (interesting finding out more about how my body works/doesn't work), but now I just want to kick it in the nuts Angry

Are you waiting until 14dpo? I'm going to test again tomorrow I think, but maybe I should wait until day after tomorrow when AF would be officially late. If my temp takes a big dip tomorrow, it'll be right on time for AF so won't bother in that case!!

Just about to start cycle 2 after AF showed up 3 days late and 20 mins after a BFN on an expensive clear blue :-( thought it was too good to be true

bassetmum · 26/09/2016 15:50

Hi SJ welcome.

I honestly don't know pjs. I might just wait till the weekend if af doesn't rear her ugly head before.

Blissfulignorance · 26/09/2016 16:10

I'd be 22 dpo pj but definitely not pg, just took some pills to stop AF while in paradise. Home now and just waiting for AF to arrive.

I've just applied for a new job that could go horribly wrong if current employer finds out so stress levels pretty high.

Also skin looks like a greasy teenager, not happy. Angry

WarwickAlice · 26/09/2016 16:13

I'm feeling awful today. Went out with a friend on Saturday night and got completely, completely drunk. This is so unlike me and I'm still not feeling great after it. I haven't drunk so much since I went to a boozy wedding in 2012. Worst of all it's my FW so I'm pretty sure I've screwed up my chances this month of getting pg. I just feel like crying all the time these days. I'm not taking ttc very well at all.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 26/09/2016 17:02

So sorry that you've having such a crap time Alice. Someone else correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think a one-off big night will significantly effect fertility: it's more about generally being in good health, and obviously cutting down on booze is always good for you. If you possibly can have a relaxing evening (mindless TV works for me!) and then try and think 'tomorrow's another day'.

MoonlightMojitos · 26/09/2016 17:36

Oh pjs so sorry for bfn, I was so convinced this is your month, don't count yourself out yet and at least you're having a nice chilled time. Keep positive!

Welcome newbies!

Thanks mrscw! Feeling fine at the moment (apart from having a cold). I've had some crampy twinges today which I know is normal but I am still very anxious especially as I tested so early, hoping it's nothing but trying not to get too excited yet.

alice I honestly wouldn't worry about a bit of drinking hun. Think of all the Jeremy Kyle types who get knocked up whilst drinking and smoking and God knows what else! I had a bottle of wine on Friday (8dpo) thinking if we had caught it, it'd still be on its way down the tubes and ended up getting bfp next day Hmm feel a bit guilty but nothing reaches the baby that early anyway until the placenta is made. You need to let your hair down occasionally when everything is getting a bit much.

MoonlightMojitos · 26/09/2016 17:45

Also, I caved and did the cb. I should have saved it really as I know I'll want to do another one in a week or so anyway. The stress and poas madness isn't going to stop for a while yet!

First time TTC - thread 3
Pyjamas81 · 26/09/2016 17:57

Yay for the CB BFP mojitos!!! I'm so so pleased for you and really hope everything goes ok - I've got a good feeling about this one Smile

I'm feeling a bit better after a couple of beers and now halfway through a pre-dinner pina colada by the pool (funny that Grin). I really thought this would be the month too - it could still be, but am going on the assumption that it's not so I can enjoy the rest of my holiday. AF only lasts 2 days so if it arrives tomorrow she will have f*cked off by thurs and we don't come home until Saturday.

Sorry you're feeling crap Alice, this TTC business can be cruel. Honestly, I don't think you've done any harm. It's good to let your hair down once in a while and blow off some steam. I'd be even more of a head case without a few wine fuelled nights with my best friends and DH. I hope you feel better soon Flowers

MouseLove · 26/09/2016 19:17

That test mojitos!!!! THAT TEST!!! Did that make it all the more real for you? I didn't realise you could get a result that early. Wow. Congrats again. Sooo exciting!!

MouseLove · 27/09/2016 10:18

So mojitos have you thought about when/how you're going to tell people?? Who's first!!??

Pyjamas81 · 27/09/2016 10:21

True to my ever confusing form - temp rose this morning instead of predicted dip, but still a bfn at 14dpo. DH said again I was being predictably unpredictable!
