A place for all those trying for their first who didn't know their OPKs from their BBTs, their EWCM from their FRERs and everything in between before discovering Mumsnet!

If you're that glorious mix between excited about getting that elusive BFP and terrified - this is the place for you Smile

Pyjamas81 · 18/09/2016 22:49

Sorry to hear about AF Alice - WineChocolateFlowers

I have a vision I might be out too although if what I have atm is my usual pre af cramps it will be a really short luteal phase. Is it sad I am hoping its pain from my bowel instead as I had a rather spicy chilli last night so its trapped wind.

Monkeyandthebear · 19/09/2016 07:09

Sorry about AF Alice

I spent yesterday feel rubbish and basically sobbing my heart out most of the day. Feeling really tired of TTC right now, poas all the time, symptom spotting etc. It is all becoming too much. Struggling to balance it with wanting a family though. Thought AF might be starting last night but this morning nothing. I am on Cd35 now and 13dpo according to my peak on the cb opk. Hoping once AF is here I might feel a bit more positive about the next cycle.

bassetmum · 19/09/2016 07:11

Sorry to hear that af has showed up Alice.

Well without being tmi haha I think it was the hot chilli. Just went to the toilet and the cramps have eased. Plus my oh say his stomach isnt great. Oops, not good poising each other.

Seahawk80 · 19/09/2016 07:29

Hi Monkey sorry you are having a hard time. I know how you feel, have had a few cycles with BFN followed by AF not showing up either and you just want to get on with a new month. It's really hard and I always still hold out hope until AF comes even though I know deep down that it's not happened. Hope you feel better and try to plan something nice for yourself.

Sorry to hear about AF Alice, I hope you're feeling ok.
pj don't feel guilty, I know so many people who didn't reaise they were pg very early on and went a bit wild and now have healthy kids, including one who went on a hen do about 2 months in with her second but still hasn't realised as her cycles were so messed up. She spent most of the wedding saying yes I'm pregnant, but I didn't know and feeling like the worst mother in the world!!

Pyjamas81 · 19/09/2016 07:46

Sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish Monkey - this TTC business is hard and frustrating. I'm used to deciding on things then it happens (as has happened in my career), so the lack of control is hard to swallow! Hope you feel better soon.

I was up last night for the loo which never happens and had crazy vivid dreams - not reading too much into it as only 6dpo but it's noted!

When does everybody else test btw? Ovia and fertility friend both say AF due tomorrow, Ovia says test tomorrow, FF says 22nd. I was going for 21st in the middle but just wondered what everyone else does? I have a FRER with me and getting impatient!

Pyjamas81 · 19/09/2016 08:05

I test on or after 14dpo (AF usually due on or just before 14dpo) to try and avoid seeing a BFN if I can help it!

Eva30 · 19/09/2016 08:30

Ah thanks ladies - everyone is different then and nothing to worry about! A week AF though, I couldn't cope lol.
monkey sorry you're feeling down. I do think it's sometimes better when AF does arrive when you know you're out so you can just crack on. Flowers
I'm a loonatic and test whenever I have the urge... Which results in BFNs very early so I don't encourage this method lol
Hahaha bassett with the hot chilli, made me laugh that did!

bassetmum · 19/09/2016 08:50

Eva - anything to brighten up a monday morning haha. Either that or I am losing the plot.

Seahawk80 · 19/09/2016 09:01

Thanks, am going to try to hang on til 21st. Feeling a bit sicky today but have had this before and quite often don't feel myself in holiday so not reading too much into it. Could also be down to he metformin.

Oh yes forgot to say lol at the chilli basset! Maybe one to be avoided around the FW! Blush

LisaSimpsonsbff · 19/09/2016 09:22

Does anyone have any advice on when/how often I should test if I'm not having regular cycles yet? In theory my period tracking app thinks my period should start on Fri, but that's just because that's 28 days since my coming off the coil withdrawal bleed, so I don't think there's any reason to expect it then. I don't want to drive myself mad taking a load of tests and I don't think there's much chance I am pregnant, but on the other hand I am still drinking etc so I don't want to risk finding out I've been pregnant for a while at some future date!

MrsCW86 · 19/09/2016 10:13

Congrats redblu! When was AF due for you? How you feeling, still nervous?

Eva yes it's very surreal and I was naughty and poas again this morning! I am clearly slightly obsession about it all...

Seahawk fx for you in a couple of days, eek! Also I think tww holidays sound amazing and should be mandatory!

Pjs sounds like you agree if you're off on hols in your tww too! Ah I could do with a bit of sun now, what is with all this rain? Also I've been having mental dreams the last 10 days or so... Just saying Wink

On a complete side note I'm on a train and just saw two deer in a field!! Very exciting, I don't live in the countryside so bar the odd rat scuttling across the path I don't see much in the way of wildlife!

Basset if you're not sure about when AF is due** maybe test around 14dpo? Also pmsl at the chilli!!!

Moonlight what dpo are you? Wow if you can hold out the next 10 days then you are a complete hero!

Sorry the witch got you Alice Flowers

Mouse that made me laugh, I have definitely felt like I needed a slap!! Maybe it's just excitement about starting ttc Smile

Monkey are you feeling any better today? You sound like me about a week ago Sad do you know how long your lp is usually? Sending lots of hugs your way. If AF gets you maybe try a cold turkey cycle with no pee sticks or anything, it might be less stressful?

Lisa if you know when you ov then 14dpo is a good starting point for testing. It's not 100% but any earlier is definitely unreliable I think.

Seahawk80 · 19/09/2016 10:37

Sod it, I'll probably test tomorrow - am using the excuse that alcohol is really expensive here (like over £40 a bottle of wine). It's funny the ways you persuade yourself! Plus Ovia said test tomorrow...so rude not to really.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 19/09/2016 10:54

MrsCW I have no idea when (or even if) I ovulated, unfortunately! Was thinking of testing from this weekend and then doing it weekly until AF turns up. Thanks for the advice and hope you're feeling ok!

MoonlightMojitos · 19/09/2016 12:44

Sorry for af alice

basset 😂 glad you're not out yet.

seahawk I would have caved by now! I always say I'll hold out til 14dpo but never do lol.

mrscw I'm 4dpo today, trying to hold out til 14 but who am I kidding, I know I'll cave before lol.

Seahawk80 · 19/09/2016 13:00

I know mojitos am proud I lasted this long! Now I feel like AF is coming...TWW is so hard!!!

florafoxtrot · 19/09/2016 13:10

Hi ladies, struggling to keep up with all the goings on! Congratulations MrsCW!
Hope you are OK Monkey - always feel like its the worst sadness around pre- AF time and then you'll start to feel better again - its entirely the hormones that do it.
AF has left the building for me so back onto the merry-go-round for another month! Going to try to dtd every second day and we're on holiday for FW so fingers crossed for a good shot at things this month!

RedBlu · 19/09/2016 15:51

Not entirely sure when AF was due, after coming off pill my cycles were all over the place. My last was late July/early August but that was after a 56 day cycle....

To be honest it doesn't seem real. Plus I am freaking myself out about what if it doesnt stick.

I don't feel particularly pregnant, I am quite bloated, tired, keep getting like minor cramping and "twinges", boobs are sore, and I am having some random vivid dreams. Apparently I was talking in my sleep last night as well, about bugs?!?

When does the sickness kick in? So far my sense of smell is a bit heightened but I don't feel sick. I am a bit off my food though, I don't seem to be able to eat as much as before - probably due to the bloating!!

WarwickAlice · 19/09/2016 16:48

Thank you ladies. I'm feeling a bit crap about it, but I don't think quite as bad as last month (took 2 days off work and binged on chocolate and cider.) At work today, feeling down but at least I'm busy.

Sorry to hear you're also feeling bad, monkeys. :(

Was watching telly last night and an advert for One Born Every Minute (or something like it) came on. I Wasn't expecting it, and wasn't ready for it, so I ended up sobbing and hating my body, and didn't fall asleep until about 2 am, so don't think that's helped my wellbeing very much.

Considering going to the drs about my moods: I'm starting to get stress headaches almost every day, and can never, ever sleep properly. I could ask them as well about my 23 day cycles - not sure if that's something I should worry about?? They are regular, just very short. Any thoughts?

MoonlightMojitos · 19/09/2016 17:27

seahawk well make sure you keep us updated once you've poas!

red all those symptoms sound completely normal for pg! Don't wish for sickness!!!! I think I read it's about 85% of women who get it so hope you're in the 15%! Also it can vary so much, if you do get it you might just feel slightly queasy occasionally but not actually be sick. Mine kicked in at about 6 weeks before but it was only waves of it when I smelt something strong and I'd dry heave a few times then be fine again!

alice do you know how long your lp is? Short cycles are a good thing as long as you ov early so lp is ok length. Shorter cycles means less time between ov and therefore more chances of getting preg in the same amount of time as someone with longer cycles.

I have had such a stressful afternoon at work, really felt the stress building up inside me and blood pressure rising. Home now trying to really chill out as stress is the worst thing ttc (and generally not good for you anyway!). Mantra: it's only work, it's only work, doesn't matter.
