A place for all those trying for their first who didn't know their OPKs from their BBTs, their EWCM from their FRERs and everything in between before discovering Mumsnet!

If you're that glorious mix between excited about getting that elusive BFP and terrified - this is the place for you Smile

Thanks for the support, will think about things.

Eva you'd think that they would get on with things, but particularly with one of the ladies, who is struggling more with symptoms like nausea and bloating, they make comments like 'Oh, she´s not even showing yet' or even saying to her that she's not allowed special seat privileges until she's showing. Then they wonder why she's in a mood. Also, everytime anything baby related comes up, they're on me, saying things like, 'Oh, you don´t want to have kids yet, you want to live your life, get settled in a job' etc etc. NB. the ones making comments are all single and it's coming off as insecurity really, but it makes me not want to share anything with them, which sucks, cuz otherwise, they're good friends

Eva30 · 16/09/2016 08:32

pjs excellent work there! Glad FF has detected it and like you say you can feel more relaxed now.

nerdy wow, I'm shocked! I had this one friend about 5 years ago who was so insecure and would always put me down but make a joke of it. I stopped bothering with her and when I look back now I think why was I ever friends with her haha! Amazing what insecurity and jealously can do to people though.

alice you're only on cycle 2 right? You need to change your mind frame to think longer term. The pressure you're putting on yourself must be unbearable.

I'm not sure October is looking good for me - I'm flying long haul around ov and have lots of social events in the next few weeks which I'll be drinking at, and on holiday, so although I'll obviously be trying I'm going to assume that this month is null and void lol. Think the break will do me the world of good.

MrsCW86 · 16/09/2016 08:36

I just typed out such a long reply and it's gone, nooooo! So annoying Confused

Welcome nerdy! Sounds like you've worked hard towards a career so while ttc can take a while, you want to start the process without any regrets.

Seahawk happy wedding anniversary Flowers have an amazing holiday! AF due on Sunday for me so will probably test 8 times today I think I'll test tomorrow if still no signs. I usually spot for about 3 days before AF and that hasn't happened yet so no idea what's going on.

Eva your cycles look super regular, that's so good! That's the great thing about temping - I have been going off cm guesswork. Ugh I hate the tww but glad there's a few of us!

Hope the boxes weren't too heavy monkey! Fx for you testing, think it's looking like a busy weekend of poas on this thread! Statistically one of us should get a bfp surely?!

Moonlight wtaf was the aunt thinking when that came out of her mouth?! Well done you for not hitting the roof / bursting into tears!!

Warwick remind me which cycle you're on? It's a complete roller coaster but I really like seakhawk's idea, it sounds like you could do with a bit of a distraction and not put too much pressure on yourself.

Yay pjs! Whatever yesterday was I think you definitely did enough bding to cover your bases! Glad you're feeling happier today Smile

Basset it's so hard with it being your first cycle off the pill! My cycles are longer than 28 days so I personally would try and wait but totally understand the urge to poas!

Seahawk80 · 16/09/2016 09:01

Thanks MrsC and sounds promising for you! Will keep my fx for you Smile

Eva30 · 16/09/2016 11:26

As expected AF just arrived for me. I'm feeling surprisingly happy about it ha! I knew it wasn't my month and was just waiting for it to happen. Good luck to everyone testing this weekend!

Monkeyandthebear · 16/09/2016 15:30

Eva rubbish about AF, but really glad that you actually feel positive about it. I know the feeling of just knowing it isn't your month and you want to get into the next cycle. Flying around ovulation really messed up my cycle last month, I hope you have more luck than I did.

mrscw good luck with resisting until Sunday.

I am now on cd32 and no spotting which I normally have for a couple of days before AF. Stomach feels like it might burst though. Might just be another 38 day cycle!

I think I am holding off until Sunday for testing. Spending tomorrow lunchtime with 2 couples both with 1 year olds, I don't need a bfn before that.

MrsCW86 · 17/09/2016 07:39

Sorry the witch got you eva but at least now you know and onwards and upwards. Enjoy a Wine this weekend!

Monkey that's a good idea not testing until post baby time, but your symptoms sound similar to mine... Trying not to get hopes up but it's hard.

Pyjamas81 · 17/09/2016 08:06

Sorry about AF Eva, but glad to hear you're not feeling too bad about it.

Well me and DH went out last night, got a bit tipsy and fell asleep so no dtd! But I think it's too late anyway so not too fussed Smile

Seahawk80 · 17/09/2016 08:58

Sorry Eva, glad you're feeling ok. I'm going to try to feel the same this month as had all the tests and focused on that.

Good luck MrsC and Monkey!
Pyjama - totally know what you mean about not being fussed about dtd after FW. Am going to have to make the effort anyhow this week on holiday Wink

Pyjamas81 · 17/09/2016 10:18

We'll probably have a break this week, then we're off on holiday for a week! Good distraction at least from 2ww Smile
FF saying if we conceived due date would be 6 June - always freaks me out when I see that! Would be same week as DH and MIL ha ha.

Monkeyandthebear · 17/09/2016 10:55

I think AF might be teasing me. Felt like I was going to start spotting. Went to the gym this morning and felt like AF has started, got home and nothing! Testing tomorrow if nothing appears but not holding out much hope.

Difficultyear2015 · 17/09/2016 14:32

I'm not due AF for another week and having spotting and cramping - feels like AF will arrive wthin the next day or two!
Just don't understand what my body is playing at anymore

bassetmum · 17/09/2016 14:46

It must be the weekend of weird symptoms. Ive been having a really localised sharp pain on my left side, almost electric feeling. I am pretty sure af wont be here till next weekend at the earliest but who knows.

Sorry to those who af has visited. At least you can have a glass of wine and not worry.

I have those same internet cheapies! But bfn at 10dpo.
So pleased for you!Grin

Monkeyandthebear · 17/09/2016 16:00

Congrats!!! MrsCW Still no AF here. Hope I get the same result as you tomorrow

bassetmum · 17/09/2016 16:05

Wow what a fantastic result to get MrsCW. How exciting!!

Eva30 · 17/09/2016 17:37

Congratulations MrsCW!

MrsCW86 · 17/09/2016 18:57

Thank you!!! It's all a bit surreal...

Fx for you tomorrow monkey!

Mira I'm around 14dpo. I don't temp or opk so it's just cm guesswork, but I'm cd31 with af due tomorrow so am testing a little early. I got a bfn with them at 10dpo so fx you're just poas too early!*

Hi everyone.

I'm SUPER nervous to reply here. This is my first post and I'm guessing what all the abbreviations are. (Any help with that would be fab)

So I'm 32 (33 at the end of November)
TTC #1

I have been taking the pill for 12 years - as long as I've been with my hubby. Have no clue of my cycle (is CD cycle length?) and I've not had a period for the last year as I switched to the mini pill. Due to many many setbacks, life changes and adulting (buying a house, replacing windows, new jobs) we have put off having children despite both desperately wanting to be parents. The time now probably still isn't perfect as we're both unhappy in our jobs but I'm not getting any younger and we feel it's time.

I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm clueless about ANYTHING to do with trying for a baby lol. I really need help and googling is just making me feel like I could be 40 before we are parents. I have lost 2 stone this year in prep to taking this step, but still have weight to lose. Nurse is really happy with my loss but I don't really want to go to see her about this. I'm hoping you all can help me. I stopped taking my pill on Thursday. Any help or suggestions?

Thank you so much. X

bassetmum · 17/09/2016 20:15

Hi user1474. Welcome to MN.

I am in a very similar position to you. I'm almost 29 and ttc (trying to conceive) number 1 after being on the pill for 11 years. It is a complete minefield this whole process. I have found this thread the most helpful place to get answers to ask away with any questions you have. I was expecting this cycle (which is my first off the pill) to be the same as I was before the pill which was ovulate in the middle of the week etc 28 day cycle. Instead all my symptoms point to ovulation happening on cd (cycle day) 11 so luckily for me I listened to my libido and dtd (did the deed) around the time before I (think i) ovulated. Will find out the week beginning 26th sept which way this month has gone

MouseLove · 17/09/2016 20:27

Thank you bassetmum, I changed my username (told you I was new hahaha)

I guess I just don't know where to start. Folic acid? And just seeing when/if I get my AF (wahooo thanks for your help the abbreviations) and then trying as much as possible. I'm just scared I might get upset or obsessive with it. This is something we've wanted for a very long time. Thank you. X

bassetmum · 17/09/2016 20:44

Haha its okay it took me a while to figure out how to change my username. I would definitely start on folic acid or a pre natal vitamin of some description. Try not to burn yourself out or get too obsessed (I know that is harder than it looks, I am already more involved than I thought I would be). At the end of the day it will happen when it happens might be the first month, might be the 12 or longer. I have found some tracking apps helpful I am still using both ovia and fertility friend to find which one I prefer

LisaSimpsonsbff · 17/09/2016 21:20

Ok, I've been lurking for a while and am going to jump in because this seems like such a nice, supportive group! I'm 29, cycle #1 I guess (I had my coil out three weeks ago and have had one period since, a few days after having it out). I suspect I haven't actually yet ovulated since having coil out, based on CM. I'm trying SO HARD to not get my hopes up for conceiving quickly, but failing! I'm worried that it'll take me months to even begin having normal cycles again: I didn't have periods at all on the coil so it obviously affected me quite strongly.

Seahawk80 · 18/09/2016 04:39

Welcome Mouselove and Lisa!

And massive congrats MrsCW StarGrin
