A place for all those trying for their first who didn't know their OPKs from their BBTs, their EWCM from their FRERs and everything in between before discovering Mumsnet!

If you're that glorious mix between excited about getting that elusive BFP and terrified - this is the place for you Smile

Oh and bassett EWCM too - fx for you three.

pjs I'm on cd27, so far my cycles have been cd29-32 so anytime later this week, ugh! I already want chocolate, bad day to start a diet (in a loose sense of the word)

Pyjamas81 · 12/09/2016 18:57

I think the EPO must have worked a bit Eva! Have never really had CM before(of any variety, let alone the ewcm holy grail) so it's a bit of a coincidence! I'm on CD12 - could this be the signal of an actual normal cycle?! I just got the OPK result below on a cheapie - just shy of a definite positive, no? Usually my positives are way way darker than control! Will be interesting to see if I get a static smiley tomorrow morning!

Sorry you're feeling rubbish - it's really not a nice feeling getting a bfn. But you're not out until you're out Smile I've been thinking the same re: fertility tests - if we have no luck this month, I'm booking in. Due to my age (35) I'd rather know about any issues sooner rather than later so there's more time to sort them.

Mojitos - we're nearly on the same CD together!

Basset - yay for ewcm - fx for you!

How exciting pjs!! Fx for you and baby dust Smile

Eva30 · 12/09/2016 20:18

Wahoo Go pjs Go!! Brill OPK, static and EWCM, you're in businessGrin
I'm having film night and cuddles with DH and feeling loads better - thank youSmile

Gecko01 · 12/09/2016 20:35

Thank you Mojitos, I feel a bit hopeful again, have to try and wait a couple more days before I test now aaah!

Fingers crossed for you all Smile

One question what does EWCM mean?

MoonlightMojitos · 12/09/2016 20:46

Yay pj!!! Oh this is exciting we could be testing together!

Glad you're feeling better eva!

gecko egg white cervical mucus... gross isn't it 😂. It's the most fertile cm for the sperm so it's good news and shows up around ov.

I did a 2nd opk at 6 and still - for me but seems to be getting darker. Hoping it's close.

bassetmum · 12/09/2016 20:49

Glad you are feeling better Eva. Ive just had a weird pinchy feel in my left hip area so wonder if its ovulation. It would be a bit earlier than I would have thought but who knows with this first cycle. Ill have to see about dtd tonight.

Ewcm is egg white cervical mucus. Basically its the best mucus to have as it is similar to semen and helps the sperm travel when you are ovulating Gecko

Gecko01 · 12/09/2016 21:29

Ah ok makes sense now Smile sounds good for Pyjamas and Basset sending positive thoughts for you. Sounds like it's on it's way Mojito Grin

I've had some more blood this eve so think it's just AF come early Sad ttc is one hell of an emotional rollercoaster! And not one that Mr Gecko can understand.

WarwickAlice · 12/09/2016 23:54

Thank you ladies :)

pjs good luck! Fx for you!

WarwickAlice · 12/09/2016 23:56

I just noticed that my engagement ring has become damaged and the stone is loose. No idea what on earth happened to it Confused

MrsCW86 · 13/09/2016 08:00

Morning all,

I've been away from mn for a few days, have been finding the whole ttc thing a bit overwhelming and had a bit of a meltdown over it all.

Glad to hear about all the ewcm and static smileys floating about, fx for all of you!! Sorry about the appearance of AF for some though, hate the stupid witch (even more so as starting to feel the usual cramps and sore bbs which usually signal she's about to pay me a visit Sad)

I'm 10dpo and it's my first month using ics hpts so I thought I'd, you know, practice or something this morning just excited to poas and it's a bfn obvs, but a line appeared right at the bottom so is that an evap or something? Or a faulty test?

First time TTC - thread 3
Monkeyandthebear · 13/09/2016 09:19

MrsCW I always thought that hpt would show up dark and obvious. Whenever you see anyone on tv they always know, no squinting, no debate. How wrong was I?! I would test again tomorrow if I were you and you have enough ics.

I am on CD29 and no sign of AF showing up. My stomach is a bit tender, like AF is here so I am on knicker watch. Thought I had started as I felt pretty damp (sorry tmi) but turns out it is creamy cm! What is that about? Last cycle was Cd38 so no idea what is going on.

MrsCW86 · 13/09/2016 09:29

I know what you mean monkey, it's so confusing - you'd think poas would be pretty straightforward! It's definitely a bfn as the line I'm looking at is right where the sticker bit starts, but as I've not done one before I just wondered if that was normal for ics... I bought 30 so still have quite a few Grin have you tested yet or are you holding out?

I've had loads of creamy cm since ov but it's my first month checking so no idea if that's normal or not... Dr Google seems to think that cm isn't a reliable indicator of pg one way or the other so I'm not reading too much into it. Is it normal for you before af?

Eva30 · 13/09/2016 09:42

Hey mrscw you sound like me recently - I'm sorry for the bfn and feeling overwhelmed. What cycle are you on? I'm in the same boat but we must pick ourselves up and start a new cycle with positive thoughts. I'm going to plan a few things in the next couple of weeks to take my mind off it, I'm going on holiday next week then I'm going to start a new book to help me stop googling everything and analysing every single thing on FF, and maybe buy a baking book and make some cakes.

The ic tests have a kind of small overlap towards the bottom of the stick and the pee seems to absorb too much there sometimes, if you look at it sideways on you might see what I mean.

monkey don't they say creamy cm is a good sign? When are you testing? Fx for you

warwick oh no, is it insured?

Good luck to you ladies around OV!

Monkeyandthebear · 13/09/2016 09:44

MrsCw I am now at the stage I don't know what is normal! Every month I seem to have different symptoms. Tmi alert - I don't remember feeling this damp as close to AF. I did test on Saturday but was more because of a work night out than because I thought it was far enough on. Trying to hold out until Saturday, which might mean I make it to Thursday!

florafoxtrot · 13/09/2016 09:59

Hi Monkey. I'm also feeling a bit lost after odd long cycle last month (37 days) and also on CD29! My boobs are a bit sore which makes me think AF is on her way but I'm also oddly calm and happy whereas normally pre-AF I'm fairly raging with everything and everyone.
I'm determined to hold out until Saturday as we're off to a wedding so would need to know for the drinking part - and distraction will be good if its a BFN.
Not sure why there is any need for TTC to be so bloody stressful!

bassetmum · 13/09/2016 10:19

Gecko - lets hope its not AF! FX for you
*
Warwick* - oh no! Can you get your ring repaired? I bent one of my rings, its a qvc cheapy that my nan bought me which i wear in her memory. Not sure how i did it but the jeweller just reshaped it for me.
*
MrsCW* - maybe you needed the meltdown to help you. I've learnt that with the grieving process for me dad getting angry or upset is good for the soul. Cant help with the ICs as I've never poas before
*
Monkey and Flora* - fx its a positive sign for you both.

I'm not sure my oh knew what hit him last night. I kinda jumped him haha. I knew the pill affected my libido but I am amazed by how much. Im also feeling better in myself emotionally wise which I'm wondering if its linked to the artificial hormones not being in my system anymore

bassetmum · 13/09/2016 10:19

Woah not sure what happened with the bold text in that post. Stupid phone!!

florafoxtrot · 13/09/2016 10:28

Update - pretty sure I'm out - just checked CM and noticed some brown after I'd wiped although there wasn't any on my fingers. Guess its onto the next month...
Would just be good if these things didn't happen in the middle of the morning when I've got to get through the rest of the day...

MrsCW86 · 13/09/2016 12:48

Ah I see it Eva! Yes it's exactly there where the overlap is, makes sense now that you say it. Are you going somewhere nice for your hols? Good idea planning things to distract yourself, I think that's what I need to do. Think I've been worse this tww as dh now away from home during the week so have a lot more time to myself - makes me realise how good he is at keeping me (relatively) sane!

I'm only on cycle 3 so still early days but had a break for a few months after mc so first started ttc last September - I feel like I'm on more than cycle 3 even though I'm not!

Even just writing it down makes me see what a drama queen I'm being, I hate myself for it as I'm usually very calm and rational Confused

But maybe you're right basset and I need to get it all out so that I can have more of a pma next month. Well done on jumping your oh, I noticed it when I can off the pill but then also got way worse af too - apparently the pill was controlling the rage monster my mood swings quite a lot...

Monkey that's so frustrating for you - are there any patterns at all or is it always really different? Respect if you can wait until Saturday, keeping fx that cm is a good sign for you!

Sorry about af flora but at least it's not another 37 day cycle I suppose? Hopefully the wedding is something to look forward to and you can let your hair down. And agree completely, don't understand why ttc is so stressful!

Pyjamas81 · 13/09/2016 12:50

You're all right - it always looks so clear in the telly! No squinting in sight!!

Dtd last night and got more ewcm today, so more dtd tonight. And tomorrow. Then on Friday for good measure! Exhausted already from dtd every other day since AF left the building. DH struggled a bit last night, as did I!

What CD are you on flora? Is AF due?

OP posts:
florafoxtrot · 13/09/2016 13:21

I'm on CD29 PJs so would say that she was due although my cycles do fluctuate a bit.
We were the same with keeping up with DTD - it became a struggle for hubby and he is blaming himself a bit. We are on holiday for next fertile window so hopefully that'll make all the difference to him.
Thanks for the kind thoughts ladies - and also the meme MrsCW - sometimes feel like I am the only person we know that hasn't gotten pregnant straight away Sad

bassetmum · 13/09/2016 17:10

Ive decided I don't like ovulation headaches either. I've come home from work with a splitting hormonal headache. Just taken some tablets, I shouldn't worry about the type of medicine as I can't imagine I would be successful quite yet. I knew I got headaches with my period didn't even think about mid month hormone changes. Just hoping it eases before puppy class as barking dogs isn't going to help much

MoonlightMojitos · 13/09/2016 17:55

Sorry you're both feeling down mrscw fx for a BFP in the next few days!

Go pj! Well done! And that's great new on the ewcm. Unfortunately doesn't seem to have worked for me as I only had the one day and now gone again but I have only taking 1 tablet a day so maybe I need to double the dose next cycle!

Here is my opk from 10 mins ago... is it positive yet? It's nowhere near as dark as others I've seen but it's almost there isn't it? Did one at 1pm which was really faint so I feel like this is it?
