A place for all those trying for their first who didn't know their OPKs from their BBTs, their EWCM from their FRERs and everything in between before discovering Mumsnet!

If you're that glorious mix between excited about getting that elusive BFP and terrified - this is the place for you Smile

Definitely not a withdrawal bleed, I had one immediately when I came off the pill, then 25 days later I had a normal period bleed. So I think my body is pretty much back on track, just not 100% sure how long my cycle is because I've never been overly arsed about tracking xx

Pyjamas81 · 10/09/2016 11:51

Ah ok, got it. The first cycle after coming off the pill is always so confusing!

I know I have v little chance of a bfp today, but I tested because I am going on a night out tonight and really disappointed with a bfn. Ovia says test next Saturday and the static smiley face all imply that my cycle is about 35 days this month. Just not feeling like there is a chance of a bfp this time. Feel like jet lag last cycle has had a knock on effect to this cycle and a bit concerned that they are all going to be longer. Having a general feeling sorry for myself day Sad Sorry for bringing the mood down, it is easier to say this here than to anyone in real life.

florafoxtrot · 10/09/2016 13:24

Sorry to hear you are having a tough day monkey. I seem to find the weekends harder too - out with a friend for some lunch and shopping to keep my mind off things! x

Difficultyear2015 · 11/09/2016 08:36

We had bad news yesterday and don't know how to get over the anger at the moment.
Had an offer accepted on a house a few weeks ago.
Friday I pay the solicitors and brokers fees. Saturday my car that's been up for sale (that i live) sells to release the cash for the stamp duty so we aren't borrowing anything.

And just after that we get a call from the agents to say the sellers have pulled out and decided they don't want to see for a year as they can't find anything to buy themselves.

So we're down on money, I'm without a car.
And back to square one on the house search which we'd already spent ages on.
Been in tears most of last night and had a look on right move and there is just nothing out there.

Monkeyandthebear · 11/09/2016 09:54

Difficult i know it seems like the end of the world now. We had the same problem last summer. Offer had been accepted in January but the couple had been looking for somewhere for months until we decided to pull out in June because they weren't going anywhere. We pulled out because we found another house and we have now been here for 9 months and are in the process of doing up every room. If I had the option I would never buy the first house now, this second one was always meant to be our home. We lost the money we had paid for the survey but because our solicitor hadn't actually done anything we were able to transfer the fees we had paid to the new house. Ask them if it is possible. It might mean you are less out of pocket than you think. I hope you find "your" house soon and I hope it is better than this first one.

I am feeling a bit better today. Had a few drinks last night but went with moderation! Felt I couldn't go out being totally sober as the bfn would have been harder to take. Still not out but not holding out much hope as I feel nothing. Either that or trying to convince myself so a bfn isn't so much of a disappointment.

WarwickAlice · 11/09/2016 11:14

Hey everyone. I've been very quiet recently, trying to pretend that I'm not ttc and not getting my hopes up at all after how crap last month was. I have short cycles, and I've been bbt tracking- think I'm dpo 7. Utterly determined not to test early this month. It's been nice reading the stories on this thread :) xxx

Pyjamas81 · 11/09/2016 12:43

Sorry to hear about your troubles difficult - I rally hope everything sorts itself out soon.

Glad you're feeling better monkey and good to hear you had fun last night Smile I had a few espresso martinis (my favourite) last night Grin Lots of people don't get any symptoms so don't lose hope. Personally I prefer to expect a BFN then get a pleasant surprise hopefully one day Smile

Day three of flashing smiley face - which I'm relieved about as we dtd last night! Will dtd again tomorrow - hopefully will get a static face, I'm currently on CD11 so already later than last month... No sign of any CM despite trying EPO this month Sad

Just did an hour at the gym, and my sainsburys order has arrived for the meal planning I've done for this week! After a couple of weeks of healthy eating and drinking lots of water, I have to admit, I am at least feeling better and less sluggish!

Eva30 · 11/09/2016 13:17

Hi all
monkey sorry for the bfn. How many dpo are you?
difficult sorry you're having a hard time. We bought our first house in April and I found it very stressful, and remember it being very expensive, more than we'd planned! Are you planning on starting looking again?
Hi alice when are you testing?
pjs sounding very positive and you're way more organised than me with meal planning! Great about the flashing smiley. I noticed more cm with EPO this month but it seemed to happen exactly at (or even maybe the day after) ov I thought.

I'm 9dpo now and think it'll be a bfn if I make it to testing next weekend and don't get AF before then. My random occasional cramps have disappeared and I have no symptoms whatsoever.

Piehunter · 11/09/2016 16:14

mshopey sounds like it's probably period then timing wise?

Eva lots of people don't have symptoms any different to normal pre period, not enough hcg for pos preg test then unlikely enough to cause noticeable symptoms! Not out yet :)

Am actively trying not to get preg this month, feels weird! Off on an all inclusive holiday in a few weeks and want to make the most of it, it's our very delayed honeymoon. Should be in fw while away which will hopefully help as OH often very tired from getting up at 5 for work which makes dtd harder! Currently cd18 and opks getting a little darker, so should ov around cd20 again if all stays regular, avoiding dtd as I don't have any flipping condoms, has been years since we used them and they were all out of date..

Eva30 · 11/09/2016 20:05

Thanks pie - hope so! Ooo delayed honeymoon sounds lovely and hopefully get some DTD in over there in FW.

Pyjamas81 · 11/09/2016 20:27

Ah thanks Eva - maybe CM on its way, will be interesting to see if j get any once I get peak OPK result...

9dpo is early still - you're not out yet!

DH saw 3 magpies outside and is now convinced it's a sign lol

bassetmum · 11/09/2016 20:38

Fingers crossed for you all. Just a quick question might be a bit tmi! Obviously there is a mess to deal with after dtd how long is it recommended to sit/lie there before dealing with it? I know you hear the rumours of lying with your legs in the air for ten minutes haha.

I have noticed already though my libido is showing signs of returning and I'm only on day 4 of not taking my pill. Never thought the pill had that much of an effect on me. Got some practice in last night though I am working on the idea that I'll ovulate next weekend being two weeks after the withdrawal bleed but who knows.

Monkeyandthebear · 11/09/2016 22:12

Eva I have no idea where I am cycle wise. I am on cd27 and my cycles used to be about 30 days, so could be 3 days from AF. Got static smiley on Tuesday so might be 6dpo?! I am hoping that either AF or bfp will be here by next weekend. Going to try and keep busy this week in the hope it passes quickly.

Gecko01 · 11/09/2016 22:53

Hello all,
Age 34
TTC #1
Cycle 2
CD 11

I am on day 11 and have bled today, really hoping it is an implantation bleed but there seems to have been a fair amount, like the start of a light period. Most people seem to have experienced just light spotting. Has anyone else experienced more and found it to be an implantation bleed? Did a test yesterday and got a bfn, feel like i should wait a few days before testing again.

WarwickAlice · 11/09/2016 22:57

eva will test on Friday- I will be dpo12 but I've got one of those clearblue tests that says you can test up to 6 days early, so hopefully it will be good news :) I am trying so hard not to cave in even earlier! X

Gecko01 · 11/09/2016 23:00

Sorry i meant dpo 11, cycle day 21. Confused

Eva30 · 12/09/2016 06:48

I caved and tested, 10dpo, BFN Sad All the usual sad feelings.
Just waiting for AF now and cycle 6.

Pyjamas81 · 12/09/2016 07:34

Ah boo Eva, but it's still early!! When is AF due?

Am on day four of the damn flashy smiley face...

OP posts:
Pyjamas81 · 12/09/2016 08:55

For the first time ever, I have EWCM! Hurrah for EPO and 2 litres of water a day! Never thought I'd see the day I'd be excited about CM ha ha

OP posts:
Monkeyandthebear · 12/09/2016 09:11

Eva that is rubbish, but as pjs said maybe still a little early. Let's hope we both get to the weekend to test again (hopefully with more positive results).

I feel like I am having AF type symptoms today. Stomach feels a bit funny. I was up at 5:30 to the toilet which is very unlike me too. Really hoping that AF holds off because I am only 7dpo if you go by the static smiley. I don't think that would be a good result.

MoonlightMojitos · 12/09/2016 11:14

Warwickalice I got a really clear BFP 13dpo on a regular clearblue so fx for you!

Welcome gecko I don't have any experience with implantation bleeding but could be so fx for you. One of the girls on the other thread I'm on just found out she's pregnant, she thought she had af 10 days ago and started opks which were really dark straight away so did a pg test and there it was! So definately can be more than light spotting, what a suprise for her! I don't think you start making hcg til after implantation so give it a few days and test again as it wouldn't pick it up by 1 day after I don't think.

eva try to stay positive hun, I know it's hard but it's still early days yet at 10dpo. Fx for you.

pj hooray!!!! I had some last night too so maybe the epo is doing something already! And that's good that it's still flashy face then as give you a little extra time to dtd and get the little swimmers in there ready! Ewcm is the best place for them lol.

Cd10 for me still nothing to report. Bored now! Had some ewcm last night and also what I think might be ov pains on left side but I've never had that before?! Negative opk though (theyve all been completely negative squinters so far) and bbt still down so hoping it's very close. I've only been opking once a day so might up to twice now for next few days hoping something is happening in there.

Notyetthere · 12/09/2016 11:32

Eva - the cramps could be a good sign especially 4-5 days before AF. I have been cramping since I had my bfp on 10dpo so you are not out yet until you are out. Fx

bassetmum · 12/09/2016 11:35

Eva - its still early. I know its hard but keep positive.

Pjs - woop!! Its weird what ttc makes you excited for

Monkey - fx its early symptoms rather than af showing her ugly head again

Warwick - fx for you!!

Mojitos - woop for ewcm. I'm cd9 and think I had a small bit of stretchy cm this morning. Without being too tmi definitely feeling wet today and been having some crampy feelings. Hopefully this is signs of me ovulating as I'm still waiting too see how quick my cycles get back to normal after the pill for soo long

Eva30 · 12/09/2016 16:26

Thank you all for your lovely comments. I just know AF is on her way. I'm feeling like it will never happen, I looked at going to a private clinic for fertility tests today as I keep thinking there must be something wrong. The £600 put me off a bit, so I've decided to hold off until November and if nothing's happened by then then I'll book us in.

pjs and moonlight I'm excited about your EWCM too haha! The EPO must have worked a little then?

Good luck to everyone else testing this week / in the tww
