A place for all those trying for their first who didn't know their OPKs from their BBTs, their EWCM from their FRERs and everything in between before discovering Mumsnet!

If you're that glorious mix between excited about getting that elusive BFP and terrified - this is the place for you Smile

Bloody hell that was a long post! Sorry.

Blissfulignorance · 08/09/2016 14:26

I think I've convinced myself that I have tender breasts Confused

florafoxtrot · 08/09/2016 15:04

Haha bliss - I'm the worst for symptom spotting - and I don't even really know what most of the symptoms are meant to feel like?! I've also a week to go before testing/AF so I'm unlikely to have any symptoms anyway! How many DPO are you?

Blissfulignorance · 08/09/2016 15:59

4dpo! Haha I'm crazy.

2 girls at work are 5 weeks pg

Felt like a knife in the eye.

Eva30 · 08/09/2016 16:45

blissful I'm with you - I think I'm having phantom crampsGrin

Difficultyear2015 · 08/09/2016 16:49

Haven't been on here for a while.

Not much to update, I had more acupuncture and this time she tried electro-acupuncture which seemed really good. No idea if it's helping but it certainly relaxes me.

I totally forgot about every ttc the past week due to being so busy with house stuff and going away so haven't thought much about what's going on with me.

I just checked my app and I'm apparantly in my fertility window. Still DTD every other day so no worries there.

No other symptoms other than extremely constipated, bloated and greasy skin, which I would expect if AF was due so I'm probably still totally messed up hormonally by the looks of it.

Difficultyear2015 · 08/09/2016 16:50

Boobs have gone rock solid too which is weird.
DP noticed it before I did and now I'm really aware of them !

MoonlightMojitos · 08/09/2016 18:06

Ouch eva I'd be the same! Not a nice way to wake up!

My opks came today so just did my first ever one! Cd6 and was negative so that's good lol. Such a short cycle last time I don't want to miss this one if it happens early again so hoping to get a few dtd in first! Anyone know how long to hold your wee in first?

Eva30 · 08/09/2016 20:53

Thanks basset and moonlight, feel a bit more sane now and a Terry's chocolate orange made everything better!
Good to hear they came early moonlight. They say 3 hours without peeing and limit what you drink. But there's no chance I could go 3 hours without a pee so I just do them first thing in the morning. From about day 12 I do two a day, one in the morning and one when I get in from work, until I get the +. Also they say to drink loads of water in run up to FW so difficult to balance everything!

Pyjamas81 · 09/09/2016 07:52

I messed up slightly on the health kick last night and went out for drinks after work - drank ALL the wine Confused Ah well - back on the health wagon today! And I just got my first flashing smiley face today - we're nearly in business! Unless it's another 12 day flashing smiley nightmare...

notthereyet how many dpo were you when you got your BFP? Was it a frer? How many cycles were you on?
mrshopey how are you getting on? When are you testing?
monkey did you get lots of DTD in?
Happy Friday everyone Smile

Eva30 · 09/09/2016 08:30

pyjamas we have to carry on with life in our pursuit of BFP so it's only right to let our hair down every now and again or we'd go (even more) insane.
I know this is ridiculous but I've been comparing my temp charts to previous two months Blush green is now, purple is August and blue is July. It looks ok so far right?

First time TTC - thread 3
MsHopey · 09/09/2016 08:31

AF is due on Sunday, I've tested a few times this week, I know it was well too early, especially for the tests I have, but I can't help myself just incase. I'm just going to hold off as long as possibly. If AF doesn't come then I might test Wednesday or something. I need to learn how to have a bit of patience. Only got some cheap tests but used 2 this month already. I don't know how long i hold out before I actually do one though. I feel a little bloated and that does normally come with AF, so I might be out anyways. Xx

Notyetthere · 09/09/2016 11:04

Eva30 - I got a very faint bfp on 10dpo( I think). That was with the ics(pics I attached earlier) and a cheap Tesco test. I didn't mean to test so early but I got a very positive opk so I suspected something was up. I then tested with a Frer on Wednesday-11dpo that gave a more definitive line. I tested again this morning with ic and this time the line was more visible and not a squinter. So looks like it is actually happening. DH and I switch between a feeling of excited to ,"what are we doing!"

Notyetthere · 09/09/2016 11:05

Oh and happy Friday everyone.

Notyetthere · 09/09/2016 12:38

Pyjamas - All in moderation I say. I had a large glass of rose with mil on Sunday-7dpo. I hope I have not damaged my chances and development of the baby. Also during the high fertility days I had a small glass of prosecco almost every other day.

Monkeyandthebear · 09/09/2016 13:40

Mojito I really should get back to running. Ran a marathon in 2014 but have had problems with my back so not been out. It is tough getting back into it, but I would recommend going slower that you think you need to and it will all become easier.

pjs I think that if we live our lives being hermits then stress levels aren't going to be good, so it is good to remember that we still have lives! Here's hoping you don't have 12 days of smug smiley face and get a static one soon.

We dtd after the static face, but really not feeling like it has worked. Got some tightness again but could just be wind Grin Got a work night out on Saturday so trying to decide how to handle it.

I am also thinking of applying for a new job. Work is rubbish just now and as much as changing jobs while TTC maybe isn't a good option for the sake of my sanity I think I have to at least look at options. Bit worried about my 3 month notice period though.

Blissfulignorance · 09/09/2016 20:29

Monkey I've thought about changing jobs too as mine is shit and stressful, I also have to give 3 months notice but if also loose a good maternity package. Make sure you know your rights!

Pyjamas81 · 09/09/2016 23:25

Finally out of the other side of the hangover from hell, and realised it's dtd day! Really not in the mood...

You're right, can't put whole life on hold! Moderation - now there's a concept I need to acquaint myself with Grin

I think your chart is looking good Eva! Got everything crossed for you Smile

Hi everyone,
Only started looking at mumsnet yesterday an finding it totally addictive! I'd love to join this thread.
Me: 33
DH: 58
TTC #1
(I'm a bit confused about the difference between "Cycle" and "CD". Sorry to be daft!)

MoonlightMojitos · 10/09/2016 07:14

Yay for flashing face pj hope it's not too long this time! I had a few glasses of wine last night too lol. Had a mega stressful week at work (nothing new there) and just needed to chill out!

eva chart is looking good, it seems to be settling down a bit month on month too, less up and down.

Thanks monkey going to try and go again today as havnt had a chance again yet. 3 months notice is a bit of a tricky one!

Welcome davirose to the madness! Cycle is how many cycles you've been trying and cd is the day of that cycle eg cd1 being the first day of your period. So I'm on cd8 cycle3. And it's not daft, there are lots of abbreviations and ttc in general is a whole other world we didn't know existed until you start!

Cd8 for me and nothing to report, negative opks so far and temps staying down. On the one hand it's good that this cycle looks like it might be a bit more 'normal' for me but also I am away for next weekend staying with a friend which will be cd14-16 so hope I ov before then and don't miss it! Typical!

davirose · 10/09/2016 08:02

Thank you Moonlight

So my stats are:
TTC #1
Cycle #1
CD 18

I've only just started taking folic acid tablets a few days ago. Am I too eager to start ttc? I've read that you can start taking the tablets when you have bfp but also that it's best to take them 3 months before ttc.

Also what's everyone's thoughts on exercise? Although I would like to lose a few pounds in order to increase chances of bfp (I'm BMI 30) I'm worried that if I became pregnant and was exercising it might damage the fertilised egg. I'm not the fittest person in the world so 'moderate exercise' is me huffing and puffing pretty heavily!

MsHopey · 10/09/2016 09:26

Not really sure what's going on with my cycle. I came straight off contraception and started trying, so I don't have a accurate measurement of my cycles yet. Got some very light pink spotting yesterday at work, not a lot at all. Then it was brown this morning when I woke up, and now nothing. So hard to tell if it's implantation bleeding or the start of my period. And because I have no clue how long my cycle is I can't even guess. Just playing more of the waiting game to see if my period comes or not.

Pyjamas81 · 10/09/2016 11:29

Could be a bit of withdrawal bleeding MsHopey?

I started taking the pregnacare conception tablets about 3 months ago davirose, I don't think it's too keen at all! And I think exercise can only be a good thing during TTC (maybe not marathon training or signing up to a bodybuilding competition) - healthy and good distraction!

Hope the weekend away doesn't fall at the wrong time mojitos!

We didn't dtd in the end last night, we were just so tired and honestly just wanted to sleeeep! Back to business today though Wink. Got second day of flashing smiley face this morning so I don't feel too bad about it.

OP posts:
MsHopey · 10/09/2016 11:42

I don't think so, I've been off the pill for 8 weeks and had 2 bleeds since then. Had my withdrawal bleed the day I stoppedal using it, that lasted about 6 days. Thenot I had another bleed 26 days later. So I think I'm back on track tbh
