A place for all those trying for their first who didn't know their OPKs from their BBTs, their EWCM from their FRERs and everything in between before discovering Mumsnet!

If you're that glorious mix between excited about getting that elusive BFP and terrified - this is the place for you Smile

What is EDD?

CinnamonTwist · 06/09/2016 19:08

Estimated due date Wink

Notyetthere · 06/09/2016 19:23

Cinnamon and Moonlight thank you. I guess it would be around May 2017. I don't know how to calculate it. I hope it is not the same date as DH! His bday is on 29th May.

I can't get too excited as it is very early in the process and all sorts of things could happen. I have a tesco's own test that I will try use tomorrow morning's 1st wee. If also positive then I might get also get a Frer and digital blue with the weeks on.

I can't now drink that glass of prosecco that I poured myself earlier.

florafoxtrot · 06/09/2016 20:15

Congrats not. Amazing news! Happy and healthy 9 months!

Monkeyandthebear · 06/09/2016 20:20

Congrats Notthereyet. Smile

So today I am Cd22 and today I got to the point that I didn't know what was going on. Last months cycle was 38 days. I flew to Boston on CD14 and I think it delayed Ov. Most other cycles are around 30 days.

My first flashing smiley this cycle was cd11 and the smug flashy face has been here ever since. Today I didn't test as i didn't want to see the smiley flashing at me. At work today though I felt really (Tmi) damp including when I wiped and still have weird stomach discomfort. I was going to ask on here if anyone had any ideas as to how I could tell where I was in the cycle, but decided as I had 2opks left to take one tonight.

Only went and got my static smiley tonight! Grin Might be in for another long cycle but when the husband gets home from cricket practice he won't know what has hit him, time to dtd!

Eva30 · 06/09/2016 20:21

Oh my, it's been a busy day in here - congratulations notyetthere!! Lovely news. So early to get a BFP on an ic too, they're obviously more sensitive than I thought. I've got some stashed away for when I get the urge to POAS!

Eva30 · 06/09/2016 20:27

monkey that's great news - I know, waiting for that static smiley is so frustrating! Get baby dancing!
moonlight laughing at your MIL popping over all the time waiting for an announcement, that would drive me nuts!

Glad I've got some fellow testers around the 18thSmile

bassetmum · 06/09/2016 20:47

Sounds promising Monkey.

What fantastic news not heres to a happy and healthy 9 months.

Moonlight that sounds like fun Confused. I mean I get on with my "in laws" (me and the oh have been together for 7.5 years but not married) but I think that would drive me a bit crazy. I think when/if we get a BFP I would want to tell my mum pretty early on but not sure if I would want to tell the in laws quite as early. Will have to cross that bridge when we get to it.

I suppose I should be getting excited for my nephew who is due at the end of the month but I am not as excited this time round compared to my niece 3 years ago (long story that one).

Blissfulignorance · 06/09/2016 20:50

Congrats notthereyet!

I'm also due AF on the 18th? Have we all virtually synchronised?! Smile

I will be in the Maldives then so I'll take some tests with me. And lay off the wine until I know either way.

Pyjamas81 · 06/09/2016 22:42

Congrats notthere!!! Amazing news Smile

And go monkey go!! So great getting a static after what seems like years of those damn flashy faces!

All my meals were healthy today and have been drinking loads of water - personal training session tomorrow after two weeks off, it's going to hurt!!

Eva30 · 07/09/2016 04:39

blissful wow the Maldives! I'm just a tiny bit jealousWink
pjs good luck for the PT session!

I'm 5dpo and already feel like I'm out. Just did temp chart overlay with the previous two months and very similar. No symptoms. Ugh.

MrsCW86 · 07/09/2016 09:19

Congrats notthereyet!!!!!! How exciting, has it sunk in yet?

Whoop go monkey! I was trying to think of some cheeky cricket pun but all I can come up with is I hope your DH stumped up the goods... Wink

Moonlight that sounds fun with your MIL!! I live +200 miles away from both sets of parents which means all visits are very planned! But also means I won't have as much help on hand once (fx, touch wood) a bubba arrives so swings and roundabouts I guess.

How long are you going to the Maldives for blissful? I am very jealous!! Hilarious that we're virtually synchronised!

Good luck with your pt session pjs, hopefull it's not too painful for you!

I feel the same Eva, trying not to symptom spot but currently have no symptoms to spot, which ironically is making my symptom spotting worse sigh. But I think I'm out anyway as doubt we caught it this month with DH being ill.

florafoxtrot · 07/09/2016 10:14

Haha - my AF is due on the 15th - I'll be testing the 17th if she doesn't arrive as we've a wedding that day so yep - I seem to be nearly in synchronization too!

MsHopey · 07/09/2016 11:29

I feel like my "symptoms" were imaginary, as I get closer and closer to AF being due I'm seeing less and less symptoms. Hopefully better luck next month for me.
Congrats to notyetthere and good luck to everyone

Eva30 · 07/09/2016 12:58

mrsHopey you're not out yet. I know what you mean - as I had been on the pill for 10 years I forgot what AF pains were like, and all the other things, bloating etc. Now after 4 months I think I finally know what is normal for me in the run up to AF.

So testing on the 17th/18th are me, mrsCW, flora, monkey and blissful? Surely one of us has to get a BFP that weekend!!
lulu what is your test date?

Blissfulignorance · 07/09/2016 13:25

I really hope so Eva. I'm away for just over 2 weeks. I thought about waiting until I get home to test but I wouldn't be able to cope if AF didn't arrive. So I'm taking some cheapies. And tampons Hmm

bassetmum · 07/09/2016 14:02

Fingers crossed for all you ladies testing next weekend. If my cycle is the normal 28 days like it was before going on the pill or we dont catch first cycle trying af would be due on the weekend of the 1/2 October.

Enjoy your holiday bliss sun sea and relaxation sounds like such a good thing at the moment.

Blissfulignorance · 07/09/2016 17:01

Thanks basset

I'm ignoring rules about flying when pregnant or conceiving and I'm certainly keeping everything crossed and praying I don't get the Zika virus. The Maldives is a low risk country so should be fine. Also bought litres of insect repellent today.

miraflores81 · 07/09/2016 18:02

Ha! I'm also due to test around 17th this month! Although apparently ovulated today according to opk, so maybe AF will be late anyway (or hopefully not turn up for another 9 months)
Good luck everyone testing anyway Smile

MoonlightMojitos · 07/09/2016 19:16

Just went for a run for the first time since May... feel like I'm dying! Eurgh.

Cd5 and af gone so going to dtd tonight, opks not here yet but hoping tomorrow as they were dispatched Monday...

Yay for static smiley at last monkey!

blissful so jealous! That'll be lush. God I need a holiday. Have a week in Devon coming up but not quite the same haha, fx for you! I don't think there's actually any reason not to fly when early pregnant anyway, it's just being cautious but I really wouldn't worry! Sometimes it seems you have to wrap yourself in bubble wrap when ttc/pg but I'm sure most of it is unfounded.

pjs how's the epo doing, anything yet? How much are you taking?

19Laura88 · 07/09/2016 20:01

Cd6 for me so going to start dtd regular from tonight fingers crossed for everyone this month xx

Pyjamas81 · 07/09/2016 22:03

The PT session nearly killed me this morning! But felt better afterwards - have another session on Sunday!

Something really weird happened at work this morning - one second I was fine, the next I felt really sick and had to go and throw up, and have been totally fine ever since! V odd. Way too early to be anything pg related as haven't even ovulated yet - random!

Nothing on the epo yet mojitos - taking 1000mg 3x a day as it says in packet, but it's early days!

Getting v excited about everyone testing soon! I have a week away coming up at the end of Sept - I'll either be getting a BFP or AF!

OP posts:
Eva30 · 08/09/2016 05:46

So I got stung by a wasp at 5am who had come in through the window last night and I bawled my eyes out!!! I'm hoping it was hormone related!! Now I have calmed down from the mini meltdown I feel ridiculous.

Wow everyone is becoming very healthy, I need to take a leaf. I did the 'yoga for 30 days' on YouTube but got a bit bored of it by day 3. I really should start running again though.

I had weird cramps yesterday, almost like my belly was turning over. Like a pulling kind of feeling. They'd only last a few seconds and then go again. Trying not to get my hopes up. I usually start bloating from 7-10dpo before AF kicks in so if that doesn't happen I'll be getting my hopes upBlush

bassetmum · 08/09/2016 07:00

Fx Eva. Ouch on the wasp sting. They do hurt something chronic. I was stung last summer and the itching that came with the sting was unbearable.

It feels really strange to not have taken my pill with my breakfast this morning.

Notyetthere · 08/09/2016 08:52

Sorry ladies I have disappeared for the last 24hrs. Looking forward to all those testing soon. Looks like a lot of you are testing roughly on the same day. I got home yesterday and spent an hour working sanding the cabinet that I will start painting this evening after work. It took my mind off things.

Bliss - Enjoy your holiday! A good break away somewhere so exotic should do the trick! Fx

MsHopey - you are not out yet. I didn't have many recognisable symptoms. Apart from the constant toilet visits at night. Literally I was going every 2-3hrs every night for the last 5 nights. But then that could not be possible. I should not have had any symptoms yet, unless I ovulated and conceived earlier than I expected.

Bassett - good luck on catching 1st cycle. Lots of people have caught at this stage. I was a bit more relaxed with cycle 1. I think I even missed ovulation all together as I was too keen and by the time ovulation happened, I was already shagged out! And I was away for work at the other end of the country. For cycle 2, we dtd every other day from end of AF and then everyday for the whole fertile window including 2 days after assumed ovulation day to cover all bases.

MsHopey and MrsCW - thank you! It has not sunk in yet. It is so early, today is 11dpo! It has happened already?! I am amazed at what the body can do. I didn't think I would catch so soon as I am also overweight.

I bought a pack of three frers and a digital test from boots during my lunch break yesterday. I used one of the frers last night and it was the clearest bfp I have had so far. I showed it to DH and he was speechless. Before we went to bed, he said that it will probably sink in on Sunday when I use the clear blue digital and it spells it out to him.

I tested using the leftover ics with morning 1st wee but didn't recognise any lines. I then used the last Tesco one and it came up with a very faint line the I could have assumed it was an evaporation line. Can you tell I can't believe it! I will this time wait till Sunday when AF is due to test again.

Eva - ouch! I remember being stung by bees in my childhood in Africa, the swelling and itch that followed was unbelievable. I was only about 6years old but I remember the pain very well.

19Laura - good luck dtd. Hope this is the cycle that you get your bfp! Onwards and upwards.

Monkey - how are you getting on with the smiley face? Still static?
