New thread for all navigating the bewildering world of trying to conceive after a miscarriage. Whether you have dc or are ttc your first, all are welcome here. We share the positive, the negative and the down right confusing.

Here's link to previous thread...www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2657346-TTC-after-miscarriage-thread-5?noti=1#62460035

I'm so sorry to hear that highhopes one comfort as someone else said, many, many women with PCOS have healthy babies! The worst bit of a miscarriage is probably the wanting it to just be over so you can move on, I hope you get resolution quickly :( xx

HighHopes16 · 13/09/2016 06:29

Thanks everyone. I've proven that we can get pregnant fairly easily (conceived within the first 5 months of trying), it's just the miscarriage stats that worry me. Women with pcos have a 40% chance of recurring miscarriages. Not sure I can go through another next time but hopefully they'll have given me some sort of treatment plan before we get our BFP. X

SayItIsntSo1 · 13/09/2016 08:44

I need some help. Do these OPKs look like they're getting any darker? CD15 today (normally 28 days but this is first cycle post MC), bottom two were done yesterday and top one the day before.

Still having occasional spotting which is freaking me out. Somewhere deep down I'm wondering if it's my body saying it's not totally recovered and I should have some patience...

say I'd say so - but keep testing as it looks like you're nearly at a +ve. Did you count CD1 as the day of mc?

SayItIsntSo1 · 13/09/2016 10:00

Thanks FX. I had a period type bleed 19 days after ERPC (MMC at 13wks), so have called that CD1. Nothing seems to have quite fitted in the suggested timelines/symptoms post MC for me.

Hoping I get a positive OPK today/tomorrow and that its maybe just a slightly longer cycle than normal. No smiley face on CB yesterday so maybe today.

SayItIsntSo1 · 13/09/2016 10:46

Ok so just done an opk and it's a really faint line. Lighter than 2 days ago Hmm

Guess that means yesterday was it? Can't understand why CB showed nothing though.

BertieBotts · 13/09/2016 11:07

I don't know how the clearblue monitor things work but I do know OPKs are notoriously easy to miss the surge. Looks like the surge definitely happened between yesterday's test and today's but when exactly isn't clear.

Remember the first cycle past mc can be anovulatory so you might just have to be patient and wait for the next one. Also, that you can have an LH surge but not actually ovulate.

BertieBotts · 13/09/2016 11:14

I've completely forgotten to temp the last three days Blush so I have no idea what my cycle is doing. I've had spotting too.

INeedNewShoes · 13/09/2016 13:59

Say - I always find that my OPKs gradually darken over a few days, then a couple of days before ovulation the lines go really faint again before building back up to a positive, so make sure you keep testing.

I hope everyone on the thread is doing ok. I am popping in every so often to check up on everyone and keeping my fingers crossed for some more BFPs.

I am 5+5 today and so far everything is going smoothly. I saw the consultant on Thursday last week and have now got the Heparin to treat my APS. They want to scan me next week but I want to refuse as I lost my last foetus straight after a scan at 7 weeks last time. They call it a 'reassurance' scan but the effect for me will be quite the opposite!

SayItIsntSo1 · 13/09/2016 14:24

Clear blue is now on a smiley face today... so will dtd today and tomorrow (already dtd yesterday) and just see what happens. It couldn't be more confusing if it tried!

My poor DH must feel like he's living with a crazy lady.

Hazandduck · 13/09/2016 14:45

Highhopes as high as that stat seems the odds are still in your favour that you won't have recurrent miscarriage and with a diagnosis you can be armed with a treatment plan. It may make you feel more in control and like you say you're evidently fertile which for some TTC is half the battle!
ineed can I ask how you are dating your pregnancy? Do you do it from when you ovulate or LMP? I feel like doing it from LMP just gave me false hope last time that I was further than I thought when a scan showed me to be 3 weeks out of whack. I don't like the idea of early scans either unless it's really necessary, wishing you all the best for a healthy pregnancy I am still acting like I'm not pregnant and just ignoring the BFP I had two weeks ago because I don't want to think I could be pregnant and wonder if it's leftover from MC in July. I've not had a period so don't know!
say I'm sorry to be dense but I don't have a clue how those ovulation kits work! I'm sorry for your loss xx

Brenna24 · 13/09/2016 16:25

That is great news Ineed. Don't have the scan if you don't want it. Nobody is oging to force you to have procedures that you don't want. Or maybe even postpone it to 9 or 10 weeks when you can have an external one. Flowers

Interesting article.

purplesmiler · 13/09/2016 18:32

Think I may be ovulating it's been three weeks since I stooped bleeding and I have a different consistency down below similar to when I have previously ovulated prior to my MC. Not doing any testing, we actually got pregnant when we stopped testing for peak ovulation and took the relaxed approach. I know they advise waiting for a period for dating purposes but we are keen to ttc.

INeedNewShoes · 13/09/2016 23:17

Hazandduck - my dating is done from LMP but actually, it just so happens that I date the same if I go on date of conception (which I know as I'm having IUI) because I ovulate (and then have IUI) on day 14 so it all works out the same.

My last pregnancy I knew I was six weeks when they scanned and told me I was five weeks. In my view my pregnancy was already going wrong at the point as the foetus was growing too slowly. It didn't concern the EPU because they just insisted that I must have 'got my dates wrong'!

Fingers crossed for you!

Alb1 · 16/09/2016 18:31

How is everyone doing? In not been on much recently as I've been feeling sorry for myself since AF arrived again. We DTD at least every other day all through my cycle (except AF) as we've always been very active like that (sorry tmi) so I no were not missing ovulation, guess it's just not our time yet.

But it's CD8 now in a new month so time to stop sulking! Hope everyone else is doing ok

FXSkip · 16/09/2016 19:12

Hi alb I'm on day 45 of bleeding since mc, feeling like its never going to stop. Can't remember last time we dtd to be honest, poor hubby. It will be our time again one day when it's the right time - meanwhile we just keep plodding along!

Brenna24 · 16/09/2016 20:08

I am nearly halfway through my tww. I have been stressed and exhausted this month, so not rating my chances highly but plodding on.

Hey all.

I'm just at the end of AF so time to get back to DTD. I've always resisted OPKs because I've felt they'd stress me out more but now I'm onto cycle 10 after my 2nd MC. Are Internet cheapies generally pretty reliable.

Did the great north run last weekend and raised some money for Tommy's so at least that's one positive out of this whole business.

INeedNewShoes · 17/09/2016 09:11

Emily - the IC OPKs are pretty good. I would just say that if you get a nearly dark enough line, back up that test with a ClearBlue smiley as an IC nearly-as-dark line can sometimes be a ClearBlue positive. This is what I've always done, so I end up only using around three of the expensive digital tests each month and around fifteen of the ICs. You need to test more than once a day (otherwise you can miss the surge), and do not use FMU for OPKs, so for example, test maybe at 11am and 6pm.

A little update from me... I have refused the early 'reassurance scan' they wanted me to have next week and my midwife is going to instead organise my dating scan for 11 weeks. I have to say though, I can hardly imagine getting that far. I feel quite convinced this pregnancy won't result in a baby. I don't feel anxious or particularly negative about it, just matter of fact and a bit resigned to it. It's horrid the change in how I feel about being pregnant this time compared to last time when I was naïve and jolly!

Crossing fingers for everyone that we have some more thread BFPs soon Smile

INeedNewShoes · 17/09/2016 09:13

FXSkip - have you been back to your GP or the EPU to have the bleeding investigated? It seems a very long time. You must be so frustrated with it.

BertieBotts · 17/09/2016 09:25

Waiting for AF too. I'm on CD21. No idea when I ovulated because I missed too many days right in the middle, but I've definitely had a temp shift, so I assume I have. Latest it could possibly have been is CD18 so I will consider myself late by CD30 as I normally have a 12 day luteal phase. It could come earlier though. I am off sex which is normally a sign she's on her way.

I normally hate not knowing but at the moment there is too much going on for me in other ways so I'm not really having chance to think about it if that makes sense?

I think the earliest I could have ovulated must be CD13 maybe? So could be due as early as next Sunday, but who knows.

BertieBotts · 17/09/2016 12:11

If I switch FF to the FAM method rather than advanced it gives me crosshairs for CD18.
