Currently brushing up my very rusty French before an upcoming trip & my app just gave me this. Maybe Duolingo knows something I don't!

Hi tootsy. So sorry you are here. Of course you are welcome. There are some lovely ladies on here and lots of support.

IC that is hilarious. I hope it is right Grin

BertieBotts · 06/09/2016 16:51

So update after my appointment is everything is going well, my body seems to be handling everything just fine and my HCG is down to 9.7 which is good.

They want me to wait for 2 normal periods before I TTC again Hmm I did ask why and they just say "For a healthy pregnancy it's better to be sure" - ie - for literally no reason, they are just making up rules. GAH.

I will talk to DH. I suspect we won't wait. On the other hand, a December BFP would be good timing.

MoonlightMojitos · 06/09/2016 18:18

Welcome tootsy and sorry you're here :(. My af came really soon after too which was surprising.

bertie I'm not sure there's really any reason to wait other than for their convenience of dating it easier so I'm not sure if you really need to wait but obvs you should be ready emotionally. Everything seems to go so slow when you're waiting for that BFP so fx everything happens again quickly for you when you are ready. I think they really don't handle mc very well at all in the NHS from my experience. I felt like just another statistic.

MrsY87 · 06/09/2016 18:26

Bertie I got my bloods back yesterday too and asked the midwife if we could try again straight away, at first she said I should wait a cycle but then said there is no medical reason it just makes dating harder so as long as I get a negative hpt first then it's ok. My levels were 20 yesterday and I got a negative hpt this morning so we're going to go for it, expecting a peak OPK towards the end of the week. I think if your feeling emotionally ready then I'm not sure if you need to wait.

MrsY87 · 06/09/2016 18:27

Welcome tootsy sorry you've been through such a hard time

emily86 · 06/09/2016 19:03

Hi all,

I've been lurking a while. I'm losing the will and was wondering if someone could give me a pep talk?

DH and I have been TTC #1 since November 2014. I've had 2 MC. The first time I conceived on cycle 8 and the second time on cycle 4. My last MC was the beginning of January. I'm now on cycle 9 and am losing the will.

Had an appointment in fertility clinic last week. Because of the miscarriages we're considered normal from a fertility point of view and have been told to just keep trying. They wouldn't even consider fertility treatment until we've been trying for 2 years after the last miscarriage. That seems a very long way away. I guess they were trying to be reassuring but I certainly don't feel reassured.

So, any tips for keeping the faith?

BertieBotts · 07/09/2016 00:54

Yes that is what I'm reading. I'm not under NHS as I live in Germany and the health system is a bit like that here - very much doctor knows best and no questioning which really annoys me as I don't always agree with what they say, which I wouldn't mind - if they would explain why! Aaaargh!

emily, I thought that they would normally run tests if you have 3 mc? That is how I am trying to think of things. We have had two. So next pregnancy = a baby or some kind of investigation, which seems to help because I know it will go somewhere.

Fertility treatment is quite a different thing from investigating the cause of miscarriage. A lot of causes of miscarriage are actually treatable - not all but many. And recurrent miscarriage does not necessarily mean infertility.

But I am not up to date on NHS policy.

Brenna24 · 07/09/2016 09:01

Hi Emily. I am so sorry you are going through this. That seems ridiculous they say you have to wait 2 years after your last miscarriage when they know you already have some form of problem when most people who have no hint of a problem at all other than not getting pregnant only have to wait a year? That makes no sense. I could understand (almost) if they said wait a year, but not 2!!!

In terms of how to cope I just take each moth as it comes, focus on any milestones that are approaching and am trying to do a lot of things in my life outside of this to keep my mind busy and my attention off it (which is not working that well but never mind). As Bertie says after my second I told myself that the third would either work of kick start the process of investigations. Which did give me something to aim for. Sadly in my case I had another. I am now finished all the blood tests I can get for now.

I have booked myself onto an Italian course. That is this years challenge. Next year I am thinking about going back to university to study agriculture. DH thinks I should just do it. I think that is a lot of money I won't be earning before we move to Italy at the end of the course. I could just stick it out in my current job and save up, but my job is driving me demented, which is not helping.

I have just gone straight into a normal cycle from the day after my cramping and heavy bleeding has stopped. I didn't even wait until all the bleeding was over. Fingers crossed you are the same.

emily86 · 07/09/2016 14:41

Thanks for the replies ladies. I can see where the consultant was coming from when she said that we would be more likely to conceive naturally than through IVF but the "just keep trying" pill can be difficult to swallow!

*Mrs after my first miscarriage I got my period after 6 weeks and after the second it was back to 4 weeks straight away.

I can't remember if this has already come up on this thread but I'm thinking of trying accupuncture to help me feel a bit more proactive. Has anyone else tried it.

Started spotting this morning like I usually do in the run up to AF this morning. Only on CD22 Sad

BertieBotts · 07/09/2016 16:31

I'm temping Mrs and my temps have dropped which seems like it might be in preparation for ovulation. I've got EWCM as well, but nowhere near as much as usual, so will have to wait and see.

Are you moving to Italy, Brenna? That sounds exciting!

I had the checked about a year ago and they were fine. However I used to only spot for a couple of days before my period. The past few months it has been 5 or 6 days so I'm thinking of asking the GP to check then again. To be fair to my GP they have been pretty good at doing tests when I've asked so far. They checked lupus anticoagulant etc and thyroid antibodies for me a few months ago.

Brenna24 · 08/09/2016 09:11

We are hoping to move to Italy in about 5 years time. Grin [giddy]

No worries Mrs, just realised I missed some words out on my earlier post! Yes had all the basic tests last October and all were normal.

I know what you mean about the unexplained! I think it is meant to be reassuring that there is no clear problem that is likely to keep happening but as you say, it is hard to keep the faith.

Brenna24 · 08/09/2016 11:01

I find unexplained a very difficult diagnosis as it doesn't mean there isn't a problem, it jsut means we don't know where to look or how to fix it. But, onwards and upwards, things to be done and the world to conquer.

MissMooMoo · 08/09/2016 11:15

Hello everyone. I want to thank you all for the support.
I have had really sore boobs since Monday so caved last night and took a FRER,it was a strong positive.
I keep getting waves of excitment and then anxious thoughts that this will end in mc like the last one.
Earliest date of conception would be 2 weeks ago this coming Sat.
Hoping I dont have to see the GP who advised using condoms for a cycle Blush

HighHopes16 · 08/09/2016 11:22

Congratulations MooMoo !! The odd's are in your favour that this pregnancy will be a successful one but I understand why you would feel anxious. Flowers

I've just ordered some Agnus Castus after spending hours reading reviews that it triggers AF/ovulation, promotes fertility & increases your progesterone! Has anyone tried it? I know I shouldn't get my hopes up as if it was so fantastic everyone would be able to conceive by using it but I do feel a little more positive and think its worth a try!

Brenna24 · 08/09/2016 12:24

Congratultions Moomoo.

SayItIsntSo1 · 08/09/2016 12:53

Congratulations moomoo!

Hello to the other ladies joining, and sorry you're here Sad

No news here. Kept getting positive ovulation tests but knew it was too early in my cycle so tried a less sensitive one and sure enough got a negative. Wish the last of the pregnancy hormones would knob off and stop confusing the situation!

Hoping my cycle is going to be something like it's normal 28 days, so should be ovulating in the next week or so (currently on day 9).

It's my 30th birthday on the 28th. Always thought I'd be pregnant for it but unless this month is very lucky looks like I'll have to drink copious amounts on our trip to away instead Grin

Adventuregame · 08/09/2016 13:58

Can anyone tell me if there is a follow on thread from here after you get you bfp ?
16 months after mmc I just got bfp so.......
Totally convinced it's going to go wrong again !

SayItIsntSo1 · 08/09/2016 14:14

Adventure there's a thread on the Pregnancy page for those trying to stay positive after miscarriage. Or I think some of the ladies stay here (or both).

Congratulations on your BFP!
