Aged 35 or over TTC #2?

Hi ladies
I'm trying to conceive no. 2. My aim was to ttc from January of this year - however due to one thing or another (very stressful time at work!) I have not been giving it my all. I have now decided I need to focus on ttc no.2 as I am very conscious of the growing age gap! Please join for a friendly chat and to hopefully support each other!

Stats
Age - 35
Ttc - #2
CD - 21
DS - 3 years 10months!

Don't want to obsess about it! However I think it's inevitable!

Thanks everyone.
That's very exciting for her, Send. I hope she enjoys it.

Does anyone have a short luteal phase?

So the CB ov test put my peak day as thursday. I am assuming if ii did ovulate then that would be Friday, which was CD18. A bit later than I was expecting but hey ho. Today is CD24 and I have light pinky streaks, so luteal phase is only 7 days, if AF starts tomorrow. A bit of googling suggests anything less than 10 days is classed as short, and can imapct on conceiving. I think I just need to tweak my diet and maybe take some vit c supplements and hopefully I should see an improvement.

Hi ladies
Gosh I feel such a fraud as I started this thread and to be honest have not been the most active with ttc. Only managing to dtd may be twice during the fertile window. Work stress has made it very difficult but I have decided that work can sod off and to focus on baby no.2 hopefully. It was seriously the worst year I have had in teaching!
I have really enjoyed being off for the summer holidays, I am a teacher for those that don't know.
My DS starts school in September and just spending quality time with his has been fabulous!
I am actually a day late (for a 28 day cycle). However my cycles have really varied from 24-33 days so can't pinpoint ovulation without OPK's. This month didn't use the opk's at all. Trying to just go with the flow.
Really happy to hear about the graduates. Sorry to hear about the losses that some people have had. The latest being Spin?
Thank you for the very comprehensive list SendtheNextOneIn! Baby dust to everyone Star

So sorry to hear that Spin!

Congratulatios Snerd on your twins :)

Great stats list Send!

Buddah your timing seems late to me - there's only 24-48 hours from + OPK until it's too late so you might have better luck trying to anticipate it a bit; I'm sure that helped us first time round.

Good luck to those still TTCing. I really don't know how anyone manages every other day with another child around - seems impossible! Nothing to report here except that I spoke to the doctor this morning and he's referred me for a birth debrief/pre-conception counselling so that feels like a step in the right direction. Wondering whether to get my bloods done again - with DC1 it took 2 years, with all tests coming back positive, so I assume it's the same again, but might be nice to get a fertility MOT again in case anything new has cropped up.

jennymac31 · 18/08/2016 16:53

Sendthenextonein - I've read the same thing on the Internet. I appear to have short luteal phase as my last 3 were 11 days long but the one prior to them was 8 days long! Really don't know what can be done to lengthen the luteal phase as I too am concerned that it's affecting my ability to conceive.

jennymac31 · 18/08/2016 16:55

I've been taking pre-conception vitamins and there hasn't been any improvement. Will book appointment with my doctor if I haven't got bfp by October.

BummyMummy77 · 18/08/2016 17:15

Hi all. Smile

Ds is now almost 3 and he took 2 years to conceive. We've been trying for another two now and I'm 39. We had a miscarriage in February and I'm starting to really lose hope.

Sorry to be negative on here but I can't discuss it with anyone else as they all say I'm lucky to have ds. Sad

BummyMummy77 · 18/08/2016 17:17

My luteal phase jumps around from 8-16 days. It's seems from tests and charting that I sometimes ovulate and sometimes don't.

BummyMummy77 · 18/08/2016 17:18

I've heard vitamin b6 along with complex b vitamins can help lengthen it and it seems to have worked for me.

BummyMummy77 · 18/08/2016 19:16

What does cd mean?

Spindelina · 18/08/2016 19:24

Cycle day (days since start of last period)

Spindelina · 18/08/2016 19:29

Went to work today, which was mostly good, except for a few head tilty moments from my boss and his boss (who both knew I was pg - my work means I need to tell asap). I'm much more of the 'onwards and upwards' mentality, and it kind of feels like I am expected to be feeling something that I'm not. But my immediate colleagues (who had to pick up the practical pieces when I failed to show up) were great.

And I have had wine. And I shall have more wine for my birthday next week Grin

RaRa25 · 18/08/2016 20:54

Spin I love the way you find a silver lining... Alcohol! Wine

felineways · 18/08/2016 21:30

Evening all welcome new folk.

Spin enjoy your wine make sure you get something extra special in for your birthday.

I have been waiting for my post miscarriage period. Dh gently pointed out that although my tendonist is v painful it seems unlikely to be the case of me feeling so sick.

Grudgingly peed on a stick and it was positive! Shocked, excited and totally utterly petrified.

Spindelina · 18/08/2016 21:46

Congratulations, feline! You can be my new role model to aspire to Grin Any idea how far gone you might be? Last time round we used condoms until after that first AF (largely because I wanted to drink and caffeinate myself while not feeling sick on holiday, but also because of the dating thing). Think we're just going to go for it this time though.

zahaziland · 18/08/2016 21:46

I have a short luteal phase. However, my gynecologist was adamant that it wasn't a reason for reduced fertility nor the cause of my 2 previous MCs. I did manage to get pregnant quite easily, but I was concerned it was linked to the MCs.
I didn't get any treatment before DS, nor will I get any now, as DS seems to be the proof that a short luteal phase is not an issue (I am still sceptical about this...)

welcome bummy, sorry you're feeling blue. Come and vent here, there are always people with similar experiences who understand!

Spindelina · 18/08/2016 21:47

Congratulations, feline!

felineways · 18/08/2016 21:54

No idea regarding timing a late night clear blue says 3+ which seems unlikely 4 ish weeks makes more sense than 5 ish. If I'm pregnant in a months time I'll look into an early dating scan. Seems a bit pointless to do anything sooner.

BummyMummy77 · 18/08/2016 22:10

Thanks Zaha.

Spin, I'm sorry. Utterly awful. Sad

Congrats Feline though! Smile

I'm cd 26 and bled a little today. 10 days past ovulation so trying hard not to get excited and see invent signs as I've had spotting around now before when my cycle jumps earlier. So hard though, I'm feeling sick and dizzy and dh keeps saying unhelpful things like "I bet you're pregnant".

RaRa25 · 19/08/2016 06:47

Congrats feline what a lovely surprise for you!
Welcome Bummy fingers crossed for you.

jennymac31 · 19/08/2016 08:22

Congratulations Feline xx

Spindelina · 19/08/2016 09:15

(Sorry for the overenthusiastic double congratulating! I thought my first post had been eaten, and I couldn't be bothered to type the whole lot out again!)

Wow feline congratulations! Fingers and toes and all things crossed for you!

Welcome to the new people. Bummy when are you going to pee on a stick?

AF is imminent here, I can tell. Chocolate at the ready...

BummyMummy77 · 19/08/2016 11:23

Obviously I did already last night Grin

Negative and there's a little more bleeding so I'm thinking it's just early af spotting now.

I don't know how I've managed to convince myself every month for two years that I'm definitely pregnant. Angry
