Aged 35 or over TTC #2?

1000 replies

RememberToSmile1980 · 16/05/2016 06:11

Hi ladies
I'm trying to conceive no. 2. My aim was to ttc from January of this year - however due to one thing or another (very stressful time at work!) I have not been giving it my all. I have now decided I need to focus on ttc no.2 as I am very conscious of the growing age gap! Please join for a friendly chat and to hopefully support each other!

Stats
Age - 35
Ttc - #2
CD - 21
DS - 3 years 10months!

Don't want to obsess about it! However I think it's inevitable!

RaRa25 · 16/08/2016 11:40

Really sorry Spin hope it turns out ok.

Buddahbelly · 16/08/2016 13:29

Spin I'm so sorry, we're all here for you though if you need to chat/ ramble/ have a moan.

BestBeastie · 16/08/2016 15:42

Flowers Spin - that's really shit. I hope it works out ok. This pregnancy malarkey is pretty crappy.

SendTheNextOneIn · 16/08/2016 15:51

Ahh spin, so sorry to hear that! Are you ok? Did you speak to EPU this morning?

Sorry I have been AWOL, welcome to the new members.

zahaziland the pregnancy/ttc forum I used when we were ttc #1 did a stats list, in fact there may even have been a couple . One with all people's names/stats, then another updated daily with people's CD, then they got moved to the next list if they know they've ov'd, and so on.

Something like:

Two Week Wait (BFP Hopefuls)

"If in doubt - DTD" Zone

"Wine and Chocolate" zone

Then in the bottom three sections people are listed according to their CD and moved from the Wine and chocolate bit (CD1 to ov), 'If in doubt - DTD' is around ov time and Two Week Wait is ov day onwards.

Someone used to update it once a day, move everyone on in their CD etc so I don't mind doing that. It'll help me not to neglect the thread and come and check on everyone!

Spindelina · 16/08/2016 16:07

Hi everyone. I've had the day off work - at least the ilympics have been here to entertain me!

I did ring EPU, who said that if I'm OK at home, then better to sit on the sofa than sit in the waiting room (which is also at my workplace, so to be avoided if poss).

So, we're back to square one. But we've only been TTC since Feb, and I know I can get pg fairly easily. Just need one to stick (in the non-MMC sense!).

zahaziland · 16/08/2016 22:46

wow send that's impressive, thanks for the stats list!
I should perhaps add that I am now 37... Anyway, apart from that I am now on CD21, however, I do have late O and short luteal phase. I didn't do OPK this month, so I don't know when/if I ovulated. In the past O was around CD 20-22 for me.....

SendTheNextOneIn · 17/08/2016 09:19

Thanks Zaha, updated list below. I totally didnt sit and read through the whole thread yesterday afternoon noting down everyone's stats and BFPs when I should have been working, nope nope nope Hmm

Aaaaand the stats list has killed the thread Blush

Hope everyone is ok. Spin how are you today?

Spindelina · 17/08/2016 13:32

Fabulous! I'm definitely in the wine and chocolate (and fuck it cake) zone. In fact, pretty much in the same place (recent MC) I was when I joined this thread...

Spindelina · 17/08/2016 13:38

X post! The 'fabulous' was to the list, not my state of mind!

I'm OK - disappointed and a bit pissed off. But having a slightly cheeky second day off work in the sunshine with DD. Last time I didn't take any time off - started bleeding on Friday evening. Two days off for two MC seems fair!

Spindelina · 17/08/2016 14:18

I think it's actually harder for DH. He's a SAHD, and with DD going to school in a few weeks' time, it's his life that will change most if we have another DC. One day he's thinking about what projects (paid or otherwise) he could do while DD is at school. Then he's back to expecting to be looking after a tiny one again. Then back to the projects. Whereas I get to swan off to work four days a week, whether or not there's another DC.

BestBeastie · 17/08/2016 15:09

Definitely take the time off! Good to regroup. It is so difficult with the planning - I appreciate it must be tough for your DH on that level. It's not just the 'miscarriage' - is it - it's a future that suddenly changes.

Have a great day in the sunshine.

When does DD start school? We've got induction until September 12 so he's pretty much solo with me (apart from a few sessions in school). I'm really looking forward to that.

BestBeastie · 17/08/2016 15:20

Oh and love the stats list Send. A thing of beauty. Wink

I'm in need of massive distraction today - I woke up at 3am last night and didn't get back to sleep until just before 6 (and we were up at 630). I feel horrendously tired and utterly incapable of doing anything. I'm working at home today, which is making this worse. Maybe I should go easier on myself, but if this is going to happen a lot then I need to find some way of getting over it. Without caffeine. NOOOOOOOOOO.

Spindelina · 17/08/2016 15:38

Best, there are many reasons why I quit my academic career, but having horribly dispiriting unproductive days at home was certainly one of them! I find cold fizzy drinks work some way to replace caffeine.

DDs first day is the 12th. She's got a week of mornings (with half the class), then a week of afternoons, then three days with the whole class until after lunch, then a week and a bit of full days, then half term. So at least DH can give people a legitimate reason for not having any grand plans quite yet!

FannyDaggers · 17/08/2016 16:26

Sorry to hear your news spin and thanks for the stats list send

SnugglySnerd · 17/08/2016 16:35

Hi everyone, I'm still lurking like Penguin to see how you are all doing. I'm impressed with the list, send, that must have taken ages!

I also had an early scan after a bit of bleeding and found out I'm expecting twins! Bit of a shock, focussing now on saving as much money as possible!

Goingquietlyinsane · 17/08/2016 17:08

Hello - can I join in?

I am 35, have DC aged 22 months, and had not planned to get pregnant again for a little while.

However, I am currently in the midst of an "am I or aren't I?" moment and it's driving me, as my username suggests, insane!

I didn't think I wanted another baby so soon, but I am now terrified that I'm not pregnant. Why is TTC so crazy-making?!

I have what I thought was an implantation bleed but it started on Saturday and I still have spotting. It doesn't look good, does it? Can't test for another week!! How can that be?!

RaRa25 · 17/08/2016 17:37

send I love the list idea.
Snuggly wow twins, congratulations!
How are you doing Spin?

BestBeastie · 17/08/2016 18:19

Woah woah!!!! Double madness!
Flowers Flowers snuggly
Congratulations

Yup. And that was my day today spin.....

Spindelina · 17/08/2016 19:41

Wow, snuggly! Was that completely out of the blue, or do you have a family history?

Welcome, going.

Best, I used to go for a run on days like that. At least then I'd achieved something! Doesn't get much published, though.

SnugglySnerd · 17/08/2016 20:23

Very much out of the blue!

Penguin13 · 17/08/2016 20:58

Wow Sherd amazing! My DH is an identical twin so had wondered coming up for the scan but only one here.

Spin I'm so sorry for your loss. Take care of yourself. You definitely did the right thing taking a second day.

SendTheNextOneIn · 17/08/2016 22:00

Twins?! Holy moly Snerd, congratulations! So many of my friends have gone on to have a multiple pregnancy after a single baby the first time around.

My daughter starts school in September as well. She starts on Tuesday 6th, Monday is an inset day. She doing half days for the week, finishing at 13:30 after lunch, then straight into full days from the week after. I'm a bit nervous as to how she's going to settle in, she's prone to upset and clinging in new environments but she's excited to go, at the moment!

SendTheNextOneIn · 17/08/2016 22:04

Oh and if anyone wants adding to the bottom section of The List, just update me with what CD you are, and I'll stick you on it next time I update.
