Aged 35 or over TTC #2?

RememberToSmile1980 · 16/05/2016 06:11

Hi ladies
I'm trying to conceive no. 2. My aim was to ttc from January of this year - however due to one thing or another (very stressful time at work!) I have not been giving it my all. I have now decided I need to focus on ttc no.2 as I am very conscious of the growing age gap! Please join for a friendly chat and to hopefully support each other!

Stats
Age - 35
Ttc - #2
CD - 21
DS - 3 years 10months!

Don't want to obsess about it! However I think it's inevitable!

Spin More stupid than adventurous, It involved 2 cocktails and a little walk to a wedding we were on our way too, Was managing to walk just fine in my ridiculously high shoes, then all of a sudden my maxi dress got caught in the front bit of my shoe and off I went. Right in the centre of the city so at least 300 people all saw it. Blush.

zahaziland · 06/08/2016 11:09

Congratulations Best, fantastic news!

And welcome oliver and L00p.

All quiet here, am on holiday and I still have a week before my FW. I'm feeling slightly glum, no libido whatsoever.... Not sure why really... I think it's because my first TTC journey was so complex, and filled with so much pain because of 2 MCs, that I am wary about this next journey.
Sorry for the slightly glum post.

I'm glad there is more positive news elsewhere on the thread!

BestBeastie · 06/08/2016 17:45

Thanks everyone. Feeling ok, but pretty knackered - still a bit worried about it all and thinking that my period is going to start any minute and trying not to be too invested in it, if you know what I mean.

Keeping up with the notes here, although I'm not really posting much. Hope you're doing well! hope the wedding was fun Buddah - cocktails sounds good. I can never walk in any heels.

And yes - The Book...well unless I manage to publish one I don't think much of my chances in academia. It's pretty ruthless, but I wonder whether this competitive atmosphere actually produces good research and publications. I feel this stress of being under pressure rather than ready to write it....But I am one of those people who will never feel ready.

Spindelina · 06/08/2016 21:27

Buddah, I'm sure you carried it off with class and panache...
Sorry to hear you've hurt yourself, though.

CD29, which (based on the very few months of not being pregnant or on the pill or post-MC in my adult life) means AF due tomorrow. No signs either way yet, so I've convinced myself I am. Will probably test next weekend if no AF by then.

L00p · 06/08/2016 21:38

**Spin - same here. Currently on CD28 and my cycles are anything between 24-32 days. I'm also officially obsessed and have been testing everyday since CD24 AND just bought more tests (sheesh! Stop already!)

Anyone else there still in this month?

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 06/08/2016 21:41

I thought I was going to be a very short term member of this group as I got +ve pg tests on Sunday and Monday but AF arrived on Wednesday. Does that mean I was pg and it just didn't stick? Confused here!

Spindelina · 06/08/2016 21:56

When: yes, I think it does. Pg tests have a ludicrously low false positive rate - if you get a positive, it pretty much guarantees that you are or have recently been pg. Sorry it didn't stick for you this time.

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 06/08/2016 22:53

Thanks Spindelina I would have been v surprised to have been first time lucky. I suppose the +ve bodes well at least.
Loving the Ovia app much more modern than I used when ttc#1.
As I'm taking metformin to regulate my cycles due to pcos I'm hoping they get shorter as 40 days average makes the waiting even longer.

SendTheNextOneIn · 07/08/2016 07:43

Sounds like a chemical pregnancy when, sorry it didn't turn into anything more! I have a friend who had a few months of chemical after chemical when they were ttc, now she's 20-odd weeks pregnant with her third :)

I'm on day five of 'high' readings on my CB ov thingy. Not dtd since Wednesday night! Husband is still ill, I'm going away to my parents for the night tonight with DD. Not got my hopes up for this month.

jennymac31 · 07/08/2016 10:15

Morning ladies.

5 days before af arrives and I'm fighting the urge to take a frer test but am gonna hold off as I don't really have any symptoms at the moment and think it would be a waste of a test.

Keeping fingers crossed for more bfp announcements xx

zahaziland · 07/08/2016 10:52

Yes, I agree with the others When, it sounds like a chemical. So-called chemical pregnancies are actually quite common, and because of the early tests, now they are much more detectable than they used to be.
I know they can be disappointing, so Flowers and Chocolate

oliversmummy26 · 08/08/2016 11:29

Happy Monday ladies! Flowers

zaha I'm sorry you feel glum...did you say you're on holiday? Hopefully a break will get you back on track?

To spin, L00p & Jenny lots of luck to you all that AF stays away over the next few days...fingers crossed..

When how disappointing for you...hope you feel okay? And better luck next month?

OH and I had a rather drunken chat this weekend and I've convinced him that we'll have one more AF (due 19/8) and then when the next starts after that (have been pretty regular since on my mini pill, so due 17/9) we'll start trying...so only 4-5 weeks until we're actively trying - so excited!! It's a couple of weeks before our wedding, so really hoping for a honeymoon baby (if all goes to plan I should be in my FW over our honeymoon, so we'll see.

Met my friends two week old baby yesterday, she was less than 7lbs born, such a dink and the cutest thing I think I've ever seen (apart from my own DS obvs Smile ) ...so am now über broody and so ready to TTC...

OH is excited about it, and we would start now, but with 7.5 weeks until our wedding I don't want to run the risk of being preggers at our do and not be able to have lots of lovely processo! Wine

Have lovely Monday's all, off for a Brew now...so tired..

RaRa25 · 08/08/2016 14:53

Zaha sorry you are feeling down, it must be hard in your situation when you have been through MC's. Hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday.
When sorry about AF, like the others have said, it does sound like a chemical Flowers to you.
Spin you are being strong not to test fingers crossed for you. L00p fingers crossed for you too. Hopefully some more good news in the nest few days.
Jenny I am in the same boat as you, AF due thurs/fri. I have absolutely no symptoms this month like I have imagined on other months, so I am not getting my hopes up. We go away for a few days on Thursday and if AF has not turned up I am not going to take a test with me, will wait till we get back, but have stocked up on tampons as I know my luck!
Oliver it's so exciting (and scary) when you both make the decision to try. Hopefully your journey will be a short one.

oliversmummy26 · 08/08/2016 15:11

RaRa Good luck and stay strong, definitely a good idea not to take any tests with you!... I am proper scared, too about starting to TTC but equally very excited...I'm such a worrier though, so am over thinking things constantly! Smile

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 08/08/2016 21:23

Thanks oliversmummy and Rara I'm fine as only first month of TTC but of course have been indulging in Chocolate!
Hoping to see more BFP's on here soon Smile

RaRa25 · 08/08/2016 21:43

I find Chocolate, Cake and Wine works wonders for most things!

Spindelina · 09/08/2016 09:43

RaRa, don't forget (decaffeinated) Brew!

RaRa25 · 09/08/2016 11:07

God Spin I am bloody rubbish I have 3 cups of coffee a day, I need the caffeine! But if I have a BFN this month I will pull out all the stops out for next.
AF due Friday and I have a clear blue test winking at me every time I go in the coffee/tea cupboard( odd place to have it I know!) trying to use all my will power not to test.

Hope everyone is ok.

felineways · 09/08/2016 11:17

Hi ladies,

I would love to join if that's ok? I'm 36 and have a 2 yrs 2 months little one. Been trying for number 2 for the past 5 months. Had an early misscarriage at 5 1/2 weeks last week. Physically it was quite straight forward so hoping to restart ttc asap.

Spindelina · 09/08/2016 12:27

RaRa, yeah...I was drinking espresso when I typed that... decaf tea, in particular, is grim.

Welcome, feline! My MC in May wasn't picked up until 12 week scan, but they reckon the pregnancy stopped at that sort of time - less than 6 weeks - so the actual MC was OK for me too (started bleeding the day after the scan). Onwards and upwards (or outwards, hopefully!).

felineways · 09/08/2016 12:48

Oh Spindelina I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

My first pregnancy was missed miscarrige picked up at 11 1/2 weeks. It so heart breaking to get to the safety and excitement of the first scan and then find out :-(

SendTheNextOneIn · 09/08/2016 13:06

Hi feline, welcome.

Another major coffee-addict here. Probably have at least five cups a day, including a daily Costa when I'm at work. I am trying to cut down though, as I know it's not helpful. I am going to bring decaf in to work when I have finished my current jar.

I am starting to wonder if I am going to ovulate this month at all. this morning was my 8th 'high' reading in a row on my CB monitor. Will keep testing until I get either a peak or a low but Ovia suggests my peak day was Saturday so I'm wondering if I may not be going to ov this month.

RaRa25 · 09/08/2016 13:21

Glad I'm not the only coffee fiend!
Send I think the OPK's can be a bit of a head f**k sometimes, they can be misleading.
Welcome feline, sorry to hear about your MC.
Spin I know two friends who found out at their 12 week scan they had mc. It must be so crushing. I can't imagine.

SendTheNextOneIn · 09/08/2016 16:06

I've already told DH that if we do get pregnant again then I want to pay for a private scan at around 7/8 weeks, as my mmc was only picked up at the 12 week scan and I don't want to have to go through that again! If we do catch then I'm going to be on edge the whole first trimester.

Buddahbelly · 09/08/2016 18:00

send once your pregnant you can ask for an early scan from either your gp or ringing your Epu unit, they will usually only do it at around 7-8 weeks, scary how much info you gain about miscarriage when you've had a few!

I think I'm due on Friday but not 100% with my dates, although I'm eating everything in sight and even the wind outside is pissing me off Grin so it won't be long before af arrives!

Good luck to people testing this week and hi feline
