RememberToSmile1980 · 16/05/2016 06:11

Hi ladies
I'm trying to conceive no. 2. My aim was to ttc from January of this year - however due to one thing or another (very stressful time at work!) I have not been giving it my all. I have now decided I need to focus on ttc no.2 as I am very conscious of the growing age gap! Please join for a friendly chat and to hopefully support each other!

Stats
Age - 35
Ttc - #2
CD - 21
DS - 3 years 10months!

Don't want to obsess about it! However I think it's inevitable!

Penguin it's so lovely to hear your good news especially because I had a MC in February so you are proof it will all be ok. Stay in touch and keep us posted? My midwife last time said don't call the midwife on a Monday though, apparently they are slammed on a Monday so Tuesday is better as they'll have time to chat and you can discuss an early scan if that will help you to not worry.

I will test next Sunday even though it will be too early but hell, I just love to pee on a stick! Grin

Penguin13 · 17/07/2016 12:51

Thanks Novinos. My MMC was pre DD, my first pregnancy, so I have some experience of successful pregnancy after loss. In my area they don't offer early scans routinely after an MC although I did have one at 6 weeks for other reasons and i had a further private scan at 8 weeks. Even though I knew that things being ok at 8 weeks was no guarantee nothing would go wrong it helped me to get through the time up till my 12 week scan after which I was able to relax more. That amount of time between scans was more manageable for me.

Spindelina · 17/07/2016 13:52

Congratulations Penguin and Buddah! All very exciting.

RaRa, I went to a meeting for work this week, and on two separate occasions, passing acquaintances asked me if/when I was planning to have another child. Raahhhhhh. Or smile and giggle demurely, which is what I actually did.

Whenwill, you are definitely not that only one who feels that way about it! Welcome.

SnugglySnerd · 17/07/2016 16:50

Congratulations penguin and buddah! Lovely news.
Welcome whenwill.
Still waiting here...

jessplussomeonenew · 17/07/2016 17:14

Ooh, lovely news Penguin and Buddah, welcome whenwill, sticky vibes to all those 2wwing.

RaRa25 · 17/07/2016 17:59

spin that's what I do, laugh it off, when all I really want to say is please mind your own f***g business Smile

BestBeastie · 17/07/2016 18:49

Pow Pow! Thwack! Double whammy!
Take THAT over-35 statistics

Congratulations buddah and penguin - c'mon Snuggly, novino and any others about to pee on a stick. Let's make it four plus.

BestBeastie · 17/07/2016 18:54

Oh and flutter - I didn't get referred for it, no way would I be able to persuade my GP to actually do something, took a hit on my credit card because I was worried about it. I wouldn't recommend something similar tbh - though if you are ever wondering if you are ovulating there are scan packages that can prove it one way or another. I wish I'd done that - but now can't afford it. Doh!

But will return to my GP soon - haven't finished with him. Going back in the ring for a punchy: 'if my progesterone levels are low and you're blaming the test rather than doing anything about it ...shouldn't we just do another test...' hmmm.

No offence to any GPs out there, but I really can't stand mine. Just because they don't have to give me IVF on the NHS (which I don't think I need btw) doesn't mean there isn't anything else they can do or look into.

RANT over. Back to YAY!!

Novinosincebambino · 17/07/2016 19:22

Sorry penguin, must be confusing you with someone else. Your success with DD is good news enough for me though. All will be well for you! Let us know how you tell your DH?

Come on snuggly! Hope my prediction will be spot on for you - I shall then name change to Nostradamus Novino.

Beastie I didn't know there was an easily accessible test they can do for ovulation. Will keep that in mind if I need it next month.

Rara I have been there smiling and going 'ha ha no not yet!' When I want to tell them the truth and watch them squirm. But I am far too British.

Buddahbelly · 17/07/2016 21:24

Thanks all! No penguin haven't told dp yet either and like you I feel a bit of a fraud until the line goes darker.

I think I'm still in shock a bit really,I know it's what I've been working towards but honestly this past month I have lived off chest and onion crisps and the fake twix's in aldi. I honestly thought it wouldn't stick cos I've ate so much crap! I also didn't really do anything different. Obviously since I found out I've been the perfect model of good health. I had a tangerine for breakfast for example Smile

I had 1 mc before ds, and 2 after him, all have been between 6- 8 weeks so I'm almost feeling calm and peaceful waiting for something to happen. Been out with the inlays today for mils birthday and completely forgot and ordered half a larger, then felt self conscious sipping it, if I didn't they'd have known immediately.

So who else is testing soon?

flutterworc · 17/07/2016 22:08

Thanks Beastie - what test is it? On Private I presume? My GP is equally pants - my PCT won't even prescribe Clomid if you already have a child... HmmI reckon a bit of nagging and DH will locate some room in the budget for worthy tests....

How exciting at all these BFPs - as I have NO idea where I am in my cycle I doubt I'm next, but someone's gotta be!

Welcome new people - on my phone and short memory'd, so can't name names... I'm hopeless! Hi anyway!

Nutcaserugby · 17/07/2016 22:13

Oh fab news penguin. Lots of BFP which is encouraging. I wonder who will be next.

Penguin13 · 18/07/2016 06:57

Confirmed with CB digital this morning and told DH. Just went in whilst he was getting DD up this morning and said 'i have some very important news mini penguin. You're going to be a big sister' then watched his face Grin She is just 19.5 months so she won't understand what I mean but it was actually lovely that all three of us were there.

Right. Enough of the mememe. Who's POAS next and how long do I have to wait?

Buddahbelly · 18/07/2016 08:49

penguin that's a lovely way to tell him, unfortunately ds is 4 and would take no time to tell every person along the street he met that he was going to be a big brother, including mil who would take a full page of the local paper to announce it.

Was thinking of waiting for his birthday in a few weeks and getting him and extra dad card, but his birthday's not till end of august, not sure ill be able to wait that long!

Penguin13 · 18/07/2016 09:10

Haha yes Buddha letting slip to a vocal 4 year old may not be the best way to keep your news under wraps Grin

Novinosincebambino · 18/07/2016 09:16

Penguin thats so lovely! what did the CB Digital say? 2-3 weeks? Buddah you would be spy level secretive if you can keep it under your hat till then! Let us know what you do?

I think Snuggly is testing next? Who else? I will test on Sunday. I have a FRER in the cupboard. I would hold off till the 27th at least but my wee jaunt to the states means I need to check before.

Penguin13 · 18/07/2016 10:19

It was only 1-2 weeks but I think it displays actual weeks from conception so that would be about right. Have agreed with DH that I can have a scan around 8 weeks partially for reassurance and partially because I am worried I will start to shoe earlier this time if this one sticks so wanton be prepared if I need to tell people a bit early. Not my preference and will hold off as long as possible but think that is less damaging than them guessing and gossiping.

Penguin13 · 18/07/2016 10:19

Er show not shoe obvs.

Penguin13 · 18/07/2016 10:20

And want. Geez. The wanton bit is over for now Grin

Novinosincebambino · 18/07/2016 10:39

Penguin if I am lucky enough to be in your situation I will be doing the same thing. Apparently my whole office was gossiping the last time so I would prepare to show early. Also I cannot lie to save my life so if I can be honest that will be less stressful. Hope you enjoy every second!

BestBeastie · 18/07/2016 11:01

Ha! Love the comment about the full page spread buddah - yes, perhaps it's best to keep it under wraps with a 4 year old in tow. Have you thought about how you're going to explain to him? I looked at my DS this morning, and thought - how on earth did you get so grown up? They're full of complex thoughts now aren't they....

I'd do the same as you Penguin - good to be reassured. With DS I told my mum at 6 weeks, for various reasons, but I did scan at 8 - which brought up a lively and kicking DS so I felt confident to start telling other close family members. So much easier once it's all out in the open.

And Flutter Google 'Fertility MOT' - they're pretty much all the same (AMH blood test and a scan before ovulation) - and then don't waste your money!!! But novino I have seen other clinics that offer a series of scans before and after ovulation so you can actually see the follicle grow and then burst and know that you have actually o'd. I might consider it when I've paid off the last lot.

GOOD LUCK ANYONE TESTING SOON! And HELLO everyone I haven't said I good hello to. I've been posting on the sly - horrendously busy at work, buy this is giving me a much needed place to go to when my thoughts inevitably turn to conceiving!! So I haven't been able to read back very carefully. Will do soon.

BFPs are giving me hope!!

Buddahbelly · 18/07/2016 12:06

bestie they sure are. I creep in his room every night to steal a kiss but the past few nights I've been sitting on his bed staring at him sleep like a psycho whispering to him, you're going to be a big brother. I know Im weird aren't I.

I have no idea how to tell dp im pregnant, usually its forced out of me as I scream and cry that my life is over!!!!

SnugglySnerd · 18/07/2016 19:07

How lovely to have you all cheering me on!
I haven't had any symptoms whatsoever and period is due in the next 48 hours so I'm not terribly optimistic but I'll keep you posted!

BestBeastie · 19/07/2016 11:45

Go! Go! Go Snuggly!!!
