Aged 35 or over TTC #2?

RememberToSmile1980 · 16/05/2016 06:11

Hi ladies
I'm trying to conceive no. 2. My aim was to ttc from January of this year - however due to one thing or another (very stressful time at work!) I have not been giving it my all. I have now decided I need to focus on ttc no.2 as I am very conscious of the growing age gap! Please join for a friendly chat and to hopefully support each other!

Stats
Age - 35
Ttc - #2
CD - 21
DS - 3 years 10months!

Don't want to obsess about it! However I think it's inevitable!

Thats good to know penguin lets hope its lucky for me - there has to be a good reason for displacing major organs! What are you doing up at 3am??

Spindelina · 08/07/2016 12:43

Oh, the romance! (We're on a Monday and Thursday timetable atm).

CD23 and AF is here. Boo. Hoping this is a post-MC blip.

SnugglySnerd · 09/07/2016 09:37

Morning all!
I'm just waiting now but DH is keen to keep "practising" so I haven't worn him out yet!

Penguin13 · 09/07/2016 09:40

I was up at that hour as DD has a cough Novino. She seems determined to put me through a rigorous testing period to ensure I am positive I really want another one Grin

Sorry AF got you Spin. Remind me, is this your first cycle post MC? Hope you have a relaxing weekend ahead.

jennymac31 · 09/07/2016 09:55

Morning ladies.
Hope you are all well.
Am fighting the urge to take a frer test, as AF is due in 4 days time. Been having usual symptoms of cramping, back ache and occasional nausea but my CF has been stretchy (like eggwhites) for a couple of weeks when it would usually only last a few days. Going to try to hold off for a few more days.

flutterworc · 09/07/2016 10:10

I'm actually waiting for AF to get her act together and show up properly - she's overdue and been spotting about for four days, taunting me - I just want to get a shift on to the next cycle! And, before anyone makes the obvious suggestion, no - I'm definitely not. Teacher in summer term + DH works in school + house moving and mayhem = no BDing!!

Novinosincebambino · 09/07/2016 11:19

Penguin that sounds like a pretty fool proof way to check. I'm potty training right now so stomach and sanity are getting tested to the limit.

Good work snuggly! I read lots of practice increases your chances due to quality of their swimmers. He probably knows this? Dedication to the cause!

Jenny that's exciting! Please let us know as soon as you test. Hoping this thread has a LOT of BFPs. When are you thinking?

Flutter perhaps the mayhem is messing with your cycle? I was a week late this month and it drove me nuts.

I don't know what cycle you're on Spin but after the MC my periods were all over the place. I had MC in February and had first proper period in May (lots of odd spotting when I should have had AF) Someone said it was your uterus lining building up again ready for implantation? I'm no expert though. Flowers

Spindelina · 09/07/2016 14:12

This is my second period since MC in May, first proper cycle. So not long at all, but it would have been to my financial advantage to get BFP this month, so I did have lots of things crossed.

Penguin13 · 09/07/2016 19:51

First proper cycle since is still early days so I'm sure like you say things are still settling down, though I can understand the disappointment.

I have spectacularly failed at healthy eating in an effort to aid TTC - in fact I'm pretty sure I should be on 'secret eaters' since I just took the opportunity of a solo trip to the coop to snaffle a milkybar and eat it before I got home Blush I now actually look pregnant even though I'm not however so have promised myself to get back on the case come Monday!

Spindelina · 09/07/2016 19:57

I hope you disposed of the wrapper securely, Penguin!

Penguin13 · 09/07/2016 19:59

Good luck with potty training Novino. Could be interesting if you suffer from morning sickness though I guess nappies are just as bad!

Penguin13 · 09/07/2016 20:01

Not that I am getting way ahead of myself or anything Blush

Novinosincebambino · 09/07/2016 21:13

I like that positive thinking penguin (God I must be desperate to get up the duff if I'm wishing for morning sickness!) and I would blooming love a covert milkybar right now. I had a couple of glasses of "fuck it" wine last night but will behave from now on...

iemma321q · 10/07/2016 09:45

Hi all - hope everyone is well!

I'm now starting the tww.

Is anyone using apps to chart their cycle. I'm using two different ones but they don't seem to agree. Has anyone else found this?

BestBeastie · 10/07/2016 11:02

Good luck everyone on the tww. Any tests Jenny...? Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Sorry to hear you were similarly got by AF Spindela and hope your cycle calms down a bit.

Novino and Penguin - I'm jumping back on the old healthy eating (and NO drinking alcohol) bus. Allowing myself the occasional Green Tea as far as caffeine goes. Ditching all supplements apart from folic acid.

I'm off for a fertility assessment on Thursday (egg reserve etc). A bit worried about it (particularly as I know we cannot afford any major treatment) but I'd rather know than not so the major hit on my credit card is better than increased anxiety I reckon.

jennymac31 · 10/07/2016 11:07

Bestbeastie - am still having occasional cramping and flutterings in my stomach but have an unnerving feeling that AF will be on its way so am holding off testing until the middle of the week if it hasn't arrived by then.

jennymac31 · 10/07/2016 11:09

Iemma312q - I use Ovio to track my cycle but I know other ladies use fertility friend and other similar apps.

flutterworc · 10/07/2016 13:10

I've used Fertility Friend for over a decade and have always been happy with it. Recently have been testing Ovusense which seems really good, but very pricey - not continuing with it at the mo as the cost is pretty prohibitive as I'm anovulatory or so it would seem... Sad

Penguin13 · 10/07/2016 13:24

Iemma I use fertility friend as I did when I conceived DD. Slightly different this time though as last time I was temping whereas this time I am really just using it to record dates of AF as I will never remember otherwise! Only ever used this one so no experience with conflicting results though.

Good luck for Thurs Best. Hopefully being armed with information will help you make informed decisions about TTC as well reducing the anxiety of 'what ifs'. There is every chance they will come back with positive news. Might have to Google testing for myself but to be honest I don't think DH would go for it as he has already said he wouldn't want to go down the IVF etc route if it came to that.

Novinosincebambino · 10/07/2016 15:50

Hope all goes well on Thursday Best I'm sure it will be good news but its a weight off your mind to know there's nothing in your way.

iemma I use an app I have had for years called Health & Parenting Period, its pretty straight forward and doesn't have all the charting stuff cause it just works on your period dates and cycle length. I have just downloaded Fertility Friend and it looks the business - thanks for the recommendation jenny, flutter and penguin

Dates are pretty close on both apps though. Old faithful is saying 13th to 17th fw and fertility friend is 13th to 16th. I'll just keep DTD every other day and hope for the best! I'm regretting saying no OPKs this month already.

SnugglySnerd · 10/07/2016 19:31

Hi all, just checking in. TWW here so nothing to report.
Hoping we start to get our BFPs soon!

iemma321q · 10/07/2016 19:51

Thanks. I have been using clue and Ovia. Will check out fertility friend now.

ckd10 · 10/07/2016 20:02

Hi, I have a daughter who turns 4 in November, I turn 37 in March, I'm pleased to say I'm expecting baby number 2 in September! my ideal was to have the age gap smaller but as I had trouble conceiving I took what I could! Grin after all, you know what they say...age is just a number, good luck!!! Xxx

RaRa25 · 11/07/2016 07:14

Morning everyone!
jenny and iemma fingers crossed.
Well done snuggly surely you get extra points for all your hard work this month! And novi you are more dedicated than me!
Lol penguin secret eaters, I'm there with you!!
best good luck for Thursday, hopefully it will just out your mind at rest and you can get cracking.
spin I'm in the club with you, AF had got me today. CD 14 so WTF!! Was not expecting that. I keep googling the reasons why, I really need to put my phone down. I can just aboutcope with normal AF as a least I know my cycle is working ok, but CD 14. Any one else experienced this??
Sorry if I have missed anyone, getting this all in before the nursery run then work.
