Would love to hear from anyone taking this route ttc. I'm DOR and dh has low morphology but an amazing count and motility. So whenever af shows up in two weeks or so I'm starting Clomid, then doing a hcg trigger injection and then IUI. Hoping for success getting 2-3 good eggs to drop and putting the swimmers practically next to them!

snowy1982 · 16/09/2016 10:49

Well I'm on day 8 and have a follicle at 14mm, have to start OPK and am booked in for another scan on Monday and (if nothing happens by Monday) they will give me trigger

Russkispy · 16/09/2016 12:54

Hope they grow more over the weekend and you're ready for Monday. where are you based? Take it you're doing it privately?

Hi ladies,
Sorry I haven't been on for a while. I just wanted to say I'm so sorry for your loss Mrs unsure and also on your failed cycle snowy.

I just wanted to give you an update, last week, a week before my IVF appointment I discovered I was pregnant. I still can't believe it after so long. I'm currently 5 weeks. ( They count from the 1st day of your last period) It's still early days I know and I'm so scared. Good luck with this cycle snowy and everyone else doing treatment. X

snowy1982 · 16/09/2016 15:53

That is amazing news friends congratulations Smile

Russkispy · 16/09/2016 16:28

Took my first Clomid last night. Been having mixed feelings about it. And if this cycle BFN, do I carry on taking Clomid or just try naturally, unmediated and no IUI? Or do I take Clomid but no IUI? I think I'm over analyzing it all. And still debating whether to tell dad or not. DH will be flying over next weekend and I hope IUI will be on Saturday/Sunday, so I'm not completely alone. He then is flying home on Monday. But if IUI scheduled past next weekend, I've got nobody with me. I'm already having rubbish time as in a way dreading going home as memories of mum are hitting me hard. Big sigh. Trying to stay stress free. Got my next acupuncture on Tuesday. And these things are so expensive. Does it help me in terms of fertility? Not sure, but she says I'm in a much better place now, fertility wise. Hmmmm will have a chat with her tomorrow. Flying home and to the clinic on Wednesday. It will be CD8 and 4 days of taking Clomid then.

Julia, how are you getting on?

Snowy, good luck for today! Let us know how how it went toda. Fx for you!

snowy1982 · 19/09/2016 11:15

So had scan this morning, follicle measures 22mm and lining is apparently perfect. Have IUI booked for 11 on Wednesday and triggering tonight

Russkispy · 19/09/2016 13:36

How many follicles? Are you triggering it yourself? Fingers and toes are crossed for you! Good luck for Wednesday! Is anybody coming with you? Hope you're not alone

snowy1982 · 19/09/2016 14:08

Only 1 follicle (or only one that they mentioned anyway) but am not taking any medication so one is ok. DH will be giving me injection tonight, he's used to them as he had a bad leg break a few years ago and got lots of practice with injecting himself to stop blood clots. I'll be on my own on Wednesday, but it doesn't bother me, it's just like going for a more uncomfortable scan. DH has to go in an hour before me to do his part and he would lose too much time out of work if he waited for me. We were laughing the last time about how it was the most unromantic baby making ever, we weren't even in the same town

Russkispy · 19/09/2016 15:09

Oh those moments in the rooms for DHs! Mine did it once and we were laughing too especially when he tried a dvd and broke the DVD player! Tried to fix it and Couldn't concentrate for a while after that but did the business in the end! Told him not to touch anything in the room next time but himself. Ahem, pardon the pan 😃😃

IUI no 2 today, really hoping I don't break the speculum again this time (and that it works obviously Smile)

snowy1982 · 21/09/2016 11:43

IUI done. Took 3 different size/types of speculum until they found one that 'fit' me, feel like the goldilocks of fertility treatment Sad have been warned to expect tenderness and some bleeding over the next couple of days as my cervix 'took a bit of a battering'. On the other hand apparently DH sample was excellent, 20.4m post wash and quality was really really good. All I can do now is sit back and keep my fingers crossed

friends123 · 21/09/2016 14:51

Thanks ladies. I feel so anxious at the minute. I feel like I've totally lost all my pregnancy symptoms. I no longer have sore blobs etc and I'm so stressed about it.

Mrs Unsure. How you getting on? Stupid question I know. Hopefully you will get some answers on your next consultantation. I hope things start looking up for you and you get some positive news soon.

Good luck with the IUI snowy!! Can't remember the size they use last time? My fingers are crossed for you.

Russkipy. Good luck with the Clomid, strangely I got my BFP, the month after I stopped taking it.
Good luck to you all.

Hi all

Congratulations Friends - wonderful news! Sure it will all go fine. So easy to get paranoid about symtpoms, or lack thereof!

So, I am a bit flummoxed with my current situation. I am CD8 and planning to do our second non-medicated IUI. Just went for scan and the follicle is measuring 19mm already. I thought great until nurse went to check with dr who said this wasn't great as it looks like egg has matured too quickly which means it's unlikely to be a good/viable egg. He says they don't like to do IUIs before day 11 which is Saturday. They did blood test to check LH and if it's positive then he recommended that we cancel the cycle as unlikely to work due to egg. If blood test shows no surge then we will let the egg cook a bit more and do the IUI on Saturday. Had NO idea about any of this! I thought big = good in all cases.

snowy1982 · 22/09/2016 16:22

Thomasina slightly similar to me but I wasn't as big. My cycle one I was 16 on day 9, doc said it was big for that stage but didn't seem concerned and never mentioned non viability. He was convinced I would surge over that weekend (CD9 was the Thursday) but I didn't. By the Monday (CD13) I was 22m and hadn't surged so needed a trigger. My point being, just because follicle is big doesn't necessarily mean you will ovulate early and egg won't be mature (if that makes sense)

Thomasina76 · 22/09/2016 17:42

Thanks Snowy, that makes sense and gives me a glimmer of hope. No idea why it's so big so early. Have to say, despite the emotional rollercoaster, it's quite fascinating to know what's going on in there. Clearly my cycle is quite variable. Just waiting to get the blood results to find out whether I have surged. Fingers crossed I haven't otherwise they said not to bother with the IUI. Am honestly about to give up and accept my lot in life. Just feel pointless to keep trying.

Thomasina76 · 22/09/2016 17:50

Just got blood results - no LH surge - yay! Another scan tomorrow to check growth. Hopefully we can stretch it until Saturday, ideally Sunday!

snowy1982 · 22/09/2016 20:46

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you Thomasina.

It is interesting/amazing/mindboggling what goes on in there. I somehow got into a convo with DH yesterday explaining the various ways of checking ovulation status i.e. checking mucus, cervical position, temp and even saliva - he was utterly mystified

snowy1982 · 23/09/2016 11:23

Question for the group, has anyone ever heard anything about trigger injections not working? I just noticed EWCM today for the first time this cycle. I triggered on Monday and IUI on Wednesday and am now freaking out that trigger didn't work and we went too early Sad

snowy1982 · 23/09/2016 19:51

So it would appear that the trigger didn't work Sad. I rang the clinic today and nurse said she had never come across a situation where trigger didn't work, but she told me to do a pregnancy test cos if the hormone was in my system it would be positive. Did the test and it was negative, so it appears we have wasted a cycle. Am so gutted, I would have to be the odd ball that the trigger doesn't work for, feels like I am never going to get my BFP
