Anyone done or doing Clomid/ovidrel/IUI?

Would love to hear from anyone taking this route ttc. I'm DOR and dh has low morphology but an amazing count and motility. So whenever af shows up in two weeks or so I'm starting Clomid, then doing a hcg trigger injection and then IUI. Hoping for success getting 2-3 good eggs to drop and putting the swimmers practically next to them!

I'm very sorry Snowy. :(

Russkipsy, I don't have enough knowledge to answer your questions but welcome to this thread.

Russkispy · 13/09/2016 08:51

Thank you, Julia.
think I'm CD30 and 5 days of brown spotting which never happened before! Usually is 2 days prior AF. So not sure what's happening here and why! It's not even on panties, but it's kind of sitting inside. Sorry TMI! Feeling extremely tired and there's a sharp pain in my back, on the right. But not muscles, I believe. I have no idea. No any other symptoms.
I'm also scheduled to fly to Riga to the clinic. To double check my Fallopian tubes and potentially have an IUI. But where's AF!?? Clomid is here but can't start till the bastard AF turns up. But is she!? As I said AF usually and regularly turns up 2 days after brown spotting/discharge. Has anyone else experienced this?
Also, made an appointment with a reflexologist (specialising in fertility) on Thursday. See what she can do for us. Has anybody else tried reflexology?

snowy1982 · 13/09/2016 09:13

Russkipsy I tried reflexology, while I loved the relaxing effects of it, it didn't really help with TTC. This may be sheer coincidence, but I had always been regular as clockwork and when I started reflexology my cycles went very strange. But for pure relaxation purposes I fully recommend it

Julia2016 · 13/09/2016 09:21

My AF has arrived. To mess with my head I had horrible nausea and heartburn for the past few days!

Going to the gyne next week. Do you ladies know the next step now? I was on Clomid 50mg for the past four months from the gp. I tested great on my ovulation blood test but I wasn't scanned. All my hormones are ok. So what next, 100mg of Clomid? DH gets tested?

We are only going to go so far, we have fully decided we won't go as far as IVF.

Russkipsy would you do a pregnancy test?

Russkispy · 13/09/2016 09:38

Julia, are you getting Clomid from GP? would you go back to her to ask for an advice? have you gone privately? would you consider Clomid+IUI? and that's before IVF?
Don't think I would be testing before CD35. I'll wait till the end of this week.
But just don't understand these 5 days of brown discharge sitting inside. Hmmm

Julia2016 · 13/09/2016 10:09

Hi Russkispy, the GP has referred me to the gyne as she can't go any further Clomid wise. I'm private. I possibly would consider IUI in the future.

I'm hoping that because I only had dd1 sixteen months ago that it's something to do with that, the gp didn't want to leave it go longer to get intervention as I am 36. So I hope it's something that can be worked out or will work itself out in the next few months. I guess DH needs to be tested next, because we have dd1 the gp doesn't think it's to do with him.

I had a horrible experience with a GP here, and it was my first visit! So I complained about her. She said I had to try 12 months before seeing a gene! Told her I didn't have 12 months as I'm 40 and she replied: it's your life choice! And then I flipped!
So I can't wait to fly to my clinic in Riga so we can go over check ups again.

Julia2016 · 13/09/2016 10:32

That's not good out of the GP. I'm very lucky that mine is so proactive but then the medical guidance is that anyone over 35 should be escalated. I'd have gone mad too if my GP said that.

Did you go to a gyne and then to Riga?

Russkispy · 13/09/2016 11:04

I think the GP said she would send a letter, and I think I'd go grey but the time I get it! so I'm off to Riga clinic regardless of GP in here. And I've been with Riga clinic since September 2014 when they did check up and discovered polyps and successfully removed them and also saw my left fallopian tube blocked/close but then I had a check up and had an impression that it was all open. But now I need to check myself again and they're such lovely and caring people over there and plus is so much cheaper! IUI would only cost me 285 euros! HyCoSy is only 100 euros! an the actual IFV is 1740 euros! plus drugs but it won't be more than another 1000 euros, I reckon. So I've got my options there. My appointment is on the 21st and I can't wait to find out what's what and what's next for me/us.

Julia2016 · 13/09/2016 11:14

That was very brave of you trying that clinic, you were right to push things on.

I hope you find out more and you can progress things.

Russkispy · 13/09/2016 11:28

thanks Julia, but have you decided on your next move? have you been trying long? your first one? what's your if you don't mind me asking

Julia2016 · 13/09/2016 11:53

We have a 16 month old girl, first time trying it worked. We've been trying now actively for about 10 months. I tracked my ovulation and it was very late, day 19 or so and I'd a short window then between ovulation and my period. After six months my GP gave me Clomid 50mg as she felt it was time to push things on. Now some of the advice is that after having a baby you need 18 months to get back to normal but because I'm 36 it was pushed on. I am hoping things will come right.

I think the next step will be 100mg Clomid and being scanned each month to ensure I'm actually ovulating. I think the gyne will scan my insides too to ensure there's no blockages. We will try all that for a while and after that then we most likely will leave it. I'm not sure IUI will be an answer for whatever is up.

Russkispy · 13/09/2016 18:30

How lovely for you! Glad to hear about your GP. Mine wasn't even English, a Spanish lady, I believe and I couldn't really understand her. So when I complained about her, i said I didn't want to see her again!

And you won't try IVF?

Russkispy · 14/09/2016 08:51

Got AF this morning. Not sure what ideas spotting for 5 days. Hmmmm. Anyway it's here now. I'm ready for Clomid+trigger and IUI for my next cycle. So I'm off to Riga next Wednesday for check ups, scans, ultrasounds etc to. Will keep you posted from there.

Julia2016 · 14/09/2016 09:52

I'm sorry AF has arrived for you but I always think it's best to know, I absolutely hate when I think I might be pregnant, the symptom spotting. Mine arrived with decent cramps so I downed a load of wine as I was feeling sorry for myself! It's great you have a plan now with Riga, do keep us posted..

On the IVF, it just isn't for us. I want to enjoy DD's childhood and I don't want to potentially strain DH and my relationship. I know IVF doesn't have to upset both those things but for me the fear is there. DH is also ok with one baby if that's what is to be for us.

Russkispy · 14/09/2016 10:12

I've Downed a huge cup of tea this morning as I don't drink alcohol! It's either tea or lemon water. Or and tea is decaf. God, one has to laugh otherwise I'll end up crying buckets here. If I had one baby that would be OK for us if we carried on having issues with conceiving again.
See what Riga brings for us

Julia2016 · 14/09/2016 10:25

I probably shouldn't be drinking at all but I just wanted to keep normal through this. I don't usually have much but I have been on a few nights out where I've had plenty.

I think it's good to "treat" yourself, whether that is a cup of tea, chocolate or doing anything that puts a smile on your face. I've really enjoyed sitting with a glass of wine and cuddling the cat!

Russkispy · 14/09/2016 13:40

Trying to find out if I'll need to do another scan after IUI? Does anybody know? Also is trigger shot done on day 10-11? I'll be taking Clomid 5-9 days. And US on 10-11 days. And wondering if they will do it on 10-11? And IUI 24-36 hours later, I read. Because I'm doing it abroad, wondering I can fly back 2 days after IUI instead of a week later. What do you think?

snowy1982 · 14/09/2016 21:46

I do unmedicated IUI, although ended up having to have trigger shot, so not sure how it works with clomid. But the way it worked with me, they monitored my follicle development and gave the trigger based on size not on a particular date. Ended up triggering the evening of day 12 and IUI 36 hours later. Initially was supposed to be 100% natural IUI, but my follicle got quite big and I didn't ovulate naturally (first time ever if previous OPK are anything to go by) so they decided to trigger instead of waiting. Trying one more natural (possibly with trigger) cycle and if doesn't work will move to medicated. I didn't have to scan after IUI, just waited and then POAS, but again I don't know if that is different with clomid

Russkispy · 14/09/2016 23:34

Thank you, snowy! That's been very helpful! I've also sent an email to the clinic about and awaiting response.
When you say medicated, did you mean with Clomid?
So many things about IUI and IVF, trying to keep on top of things

snowy1982 · 15/09/2016 07:08

I assume it would be with clomid but clinic hasn't actually told me the name of the drugs I'd be taking

Thomasina76 · 15/09/2016 22:23

Hi all, reporting in. AF arrived yesterday, a day early as we most definitely covered our bases and DTD every day for 2 weeks solid over ovulation and still nothing. Seeing a new consultant tomorrow and will hopefully get booked in for another (our second) unmedicated IUI this cycle.

Snowy, do ovulate naturally but were still recommended to try medicated IUI (with clomid). I ovulate naturally so wondering whether clomid would help in this case. Seems a bit pointless taking it and going through all the side effects if I already ovulate, PLUS, we really don't want multiples.

Thomasina76 · 15/09/2016 22:24

Sorry, meant to say, "we are gutted as we definitely covered our bases . . ."

snowy1982 · 16/09/2016 08:12

Thomasina yip, I ovulate naturally so they recommended unmedicated i.e. no clomid. Our issues are mechanical (I guess you would put it). But last cycle, even though follicle and lining did their job naturally for some reason actual ovulation seemed problematic. It may have just been late but they decided not to risk it (since follicle and lining were so good) and gave me a trigger. The nurse said I might want to think about doing a medicated cycle just to cover all bases, so if this next natural one doesn't work we might do that. But, like yourself, I am wary of it as don't want to be taking drugs if I don't need them and don't want to risk multiple (although DH thinks their a great idea lol)
