Anyone done or doing Clomid/ovidrel/IUI?

Would love to hear from anyone taking this route ttc. I'm DOR and dh has low morphology but an amazing count and motility. So whenever af shows up in two weeks or so I'm starting Clomid, then doing a hcg trigger injection and then IUI. Hoping for success getting 2-3 good eggs to drop and putting the swimmers practically next to them!

So I did my first month of clomid last month.... I don't want to get too giddy I'm currently 3 days late, I'm tempted to grab a test on my way home but is it a bit early??

Good luck sooper I got taunted with longer luteal phases with Clomid last cycle. Was late and had symptoms but alas no bfp. Clomid really messes with you but it seems to work for many people so I hope you're one of them!

That does sound confusing Mrs! Do you temp? I really have no clue but it seems like it does coincide with ovulation.

Snow I hope the side effects aren't too painful - fx indeed for a lucky cycle.

My news is that I got my bfp! I had my hcg test yesterday, which confirmed it and have now started on progesterone pessaries and go back to the doctor next week to have a scan to see that it's implanted in the right place. As you can imagine, I'm absolutely terrified and extremely nervous - it just seems too good to be true so am currently in denial. Thanks everyone for all your support Flowers

That's wonderful news Genghis. :) :) Try and relax as much as you can.

I'm on day 10 of my cycle, finished last Clomid tablet on Sunday. I did a cheapie OPK test this morning and got a faint line. It's way too early to ovulate isn't it? I've used Clearblue smiley OPK's until now and I never get the smiley face until day 17/18. Can you get faint lines until you get a proper dark line with those tests? I don't understand them.

Snowdog37 · 20/07/2016 11:19

My RE said don't use cheap opk with Clomid as Clomid can mess up your lh levels and give you inaccurate readings if you use the "compare the lines" ones. He said the best ones to use (typical) are the expensive clearblue digital smiley face ones as they detect an obvious rise in lh if you do them from day 8. I usually ovulate day 12 so quite early. On Clomid and with the hcg trigger I still do, as they have me trigger day 10. Before Clomid I used the cheap opks and hated them as I never got a true positive. Since using the clearblue ones I now get a solid smily face usually the night of the trigger/the morning after and ovulation pains usually day 12. Last cycle I had nothing though I did ovulate according to ultrasounds.
Good luck. It's very stressful. I kind of like the trigger shot helping to ensure the timing of ovulation so we can bd 48 hours before the IUI so as not to mess up his sample.

Thank you all so much for your kind words - I really appreciate them, and of course, fx that everyone else will soon get their bfps as well.

Mrs This was cycle 19 for me (had never seen hide nor hair of a bfp). Our doctor put our infertility down as unexplained but I was particularly worried about DP as he had 95% antisperm antibodies in his last SA. The doctor totally disregarded this (which put me in a spin as all my googling said that with his result there was no point in iui and icsi was the only way to go) but I guess he was right magnanimous. The other potential issue was the angle of my uterus as during the iui he realised that it is extremely forward facing, which could cause issues for the sperm to get to the right place. Sorry, that was a bit longer than anticipated! Also, I'm sorry about all the confusion - our bodies can be so frustrating.

Julia I don't know about the effects of clomid on those opks so would listen to Snow and Mrs, but on a natural cycle, yes, you do get faint lines before a positive on those opks. Like you, from about cd10 I would start getting a faint line but it would not be positive until later.

Snow I hope your follicles are growing nice and big! Good luck this time - fx for third time lucky!

Hi ladies,
I wonder if anybody can help me, I'm currently on cycle two of Clomid and not doing very well on it. Both this and the last cycle, I've been quite tearful and have suffered hot flushes.
However this time around I've had bloating, constant headache really bad cramps, backache so much so I've had to ring in work sick.
My DH thinks it might be worth checking with the DRs, but I've already popped them all now (on cycle day 7, taking cycle days 2-6) so i'm kinda thinking nothing could be done and I'm probably just best not taking them anymore.
I do ovulate on my own, I always have progesterone levels of 60+ on day 21 blood. The first cycle did change my period, I had 16 day luteal phase instead of 13 and I've only bled for about a day and a half which is rather light in comparison with my heavy flow, 5-7 day norm. Can someone please assure me that this is normal and that i'm not gonna blow up and burst anytime soon. :-)

Thanks Mrsunsure,
I'm glad It's not just me. I think I could cope with the physical symptoms but I certainly can't take anymore of the emotional ones! I've been completely awful to people too.
We've already been refered for IVF/IUI but this was the last ditch attempt inbetween . Wish you all luck and huge congrats Genghis. 😊

Hi friends. I'm on month 3 of 50mg of Clomid. So far this month I've only had night sweats, my emotions have been fine. Month 2 was horrendous though, moods were awful, tummy upset, bloating. The worst was the down feeling I got, I was dreading month 3. I was fine mood wise on month 1 too but had more physical symptoms as you described and a lot of disturbed sleep.

Just keep saying to yourself that it will pass and tell your partner when you're not doing so good, it helps.

If you feel the symptoms are too much then definitely go back to your doctor, some tablets don't suit some people and you may need an alternative. Fingers crossed for you.

maplebaby · 22/07/2016 11:13

Been on holiday but genghis!!! What a wonderful way to welcome me back! Congratulations - so thrilled for you and we were due a bfp!

I'm afraid I have no experience or advice on clomid!

So I started my period on holiday and dutifully called the hospital. They told me NOT to start clomid and come in for a scan which I did today - on what I thought is day 5 (I had brown spotting for 5 days and then count day 1 when I see red blood).

Just had my scan and she said I had a 12mm follicle! So thinks I am further into my cycle than day 5. We've decided that they will monitor me this cycle and see what my follicle and lining does - my baseline I had when I first had investigations, my lining was 3mm on cd13! So another natural cycle for me this month... Scan on Tuesday.

She also said if I don't get pregnant this month then she thinks we may do injectibles instead of the clomid for my IUI, especially if this cycle shows thin lining.

So no IUI for me this month either! Feel a bit bad being on this thread now but reluctant to leave you all - please don't kick me off!! X

friends123 · 22/07/2016 14:23

Mrsunsure,
It's horrible, It's so hard for others to understand as well. Unfortunately I'm not being scanned I'm just having 21 day progesterone test done. My progesterone level is really high without them so I do have good ovulation without them apparently. ( last month my progesterone was so high it was off the scale)
They think our problem is MFI, but when I saw the FS last time she offered us the full range of options, so I asked to be transfered for IVF and have Clomid while I was waiting ( I'm a cheeky mare) I was kinda hoping I might of been one of those miracle stories, instead I'm falling apart. Haha.
We couldn't do IUI at the same time as they didn't do it where we was,but after Genghis story, it certainly seems worth a try.

Thanks Julia, I'm glad it's not just me. Last month I felt awful and said I wouldn't take it again, but then when It got to this month I did it anyway. This time as been so much worse though. I only have one cycle worth left so might discuss it with the Dr before starting again, in case it's doing more harm then good .

Thanks for your congratulations Friends and Maple and sorry to read that your iui has been postponed Maple - it sucks but the good news is that they're monitoring you so should have a better idea for the following cycle. I was really surprised to read about your follicle already being 12mm!!

star1980 · 24/07/2016 12:10

Omg, congratulations Genghis!!! What great news to come home to. First time lucky for you too!

Unfortunately my period arrived on cue in Italy. Was on holiday with a pregnant friend and a baby and spent the whole next day crying - it was really hard. I'm back to myself now though and on third and final Clomid cycle. Decided to ask if we can convert this cycle to iui as I just think the sperm may not be getting through. Going to call on Monday and see.

Welcome back maple! Good luck for this cycle and so weird your day 1 was wrong.

doomkittycleo · 24/07/2016 15:41

Hi all, I'm new to this thread but looking for some support. DP and I have been TTC for 18 months now and I have been to the gynaecologist for all of the inititial fertility tests, bloods, hycosy etc. My next appointment is on 18th August (been booked since May ☹️ and I'm hoping to start clomid after this appointment.

My af is fairly regular around 32 days currently. But I have had 2 35 day cycles since TTC as well as a few shorter cycles when I first stopped BC. I was worrying about missing out on trying clomid in September as fertility friend predicted my fertile days in September as being days 15-18 (when I am planning a trip to Canada without DP).

I return the following day.

Thing is I am now on CD34 so that may mean that september's cycle starts a couple of days later which may mean if DP and I DTD as soon as I get back we may be in with a chance.

What I am hoping you can tell me is, will the Dr want me to go in for any US to check for developing follicles during the week leading to ovulation or not? If so we will probably have to wait until October to start clomid, which would be devistating to me.
